Catching up with an old Friend...
Date of Scene: 10 June 2019
Location: Private Office - The Blue Lady
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Thomas Raith, Molly Carpenter

Thomas Raith has posed:
The Blue Lady only opened for the day about 20 minutes ago, to catch the "On my way home" drinkers, the real crowd is still several hours away. Thomas is then trying to get some work done so that later he'll be able to mingle and prowl among his own private game reserve. So when Crush comes upstairs he's a little surprised. "Girl to see you boss. Says her name's Carpenter?" Thomas nods "Give me thirty seconds and send her up." He says, flipping the switch on his desk labeled "Wizards" which immediately starts powering down /everything/.

Molly Carpenter has posed:
It's not long before Molly comes inside, though she does linger in the doorway to keep her distance just in case. She knew about his wizarding failsafes but it never hurt to make it known she wasn't *trying* to fry everything he owns that was electrical. At the very least she wasn't as bad at it as Harry seemed to be. Maybe it was an age thing, or maybe because she wasn't quite a sledgehammer of a powerhouse.

She waits there a moment, arms lightly crossed over her chest with an quirked eyebrow. "Everything good?" She asks by means of announcing her presence. She was just wearing casual clothes, jeans, sneakers and a fashionably tight t-shirt that had the logo of some Summer camp she'd been to once.

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith grins a little bit, "Oh it'ss perfectly safe. It's not good for the equipment to shut everything down the hard way like that too often, but it's better then...well you know." He says giving her one of his fallen angel smiles. "I'd tell you that you look great, but I've never been one to belabor the obvious. Can I get you a drink?"

Molly Carpenter has posed:
"Got any Pepsi? Or I guess a Coke if you have it. It's a bit too early for other things." Not that Molly would drink here anyway. That was just asking for trouble one way or another. Either with losing control of her powers, or losing losing control of herself. Not gonna happen. Pushing off of the doorframe she walks in closer giving a nod to him. "Thanks for seeing me. I know I've been AWOL awhile. I needed to get some traveling in, learn some more about myself away from the family... Stuff like that." A light handwave dismisses the notion. "But I'm back, and I thought you might be able to clue in me on what's going on currently."

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith nods slightly and opens the fridge under the bar, taking out a can of Pepsi and sliding it over to her unopened. "There is glasses over there if you like, and ice in that bucket." He himself pulls out a crystal decanter full of amber liquid that she knows from previous encounters only contains iced tea. "Believe me, I know about getting away from family drama. I actually sold my sisters my shares in Silverlight Entertainment to build this place." He fills a glass with tea and gestures to the small conversation circle. "There is some thing bad on the streets actually, and considering I haven't seen Harry in weeks, maybe you can give me some imput on what it is.

Molly Carpenter has posed:
Molly Carpenter holds the soda can a moment with a wistful sigh and mumble of, "Cold soda." It was so very nice to get her hands on one now and again. She does do the civilized thing of grabbing a glass and some ice for it though before cracking it open to fill the glass. Satisfied she moves over to the sitting area to join him. "I'll help where I can. I'm not bad at identifying things with a bit of research." An eyebrow does raise a bit though. "By 'bad on the streets' do you mean drugs or some kind of critter?"

Thomas Raith has posed:
"Both actually," the man says as he leans back in his chair. "Although the critter aspect I know about all I need to about them. They are Red Court Vampires. I've been trying to put a dent in their operations on that score, with some sucesses. The drug on the other hand... I don't know what it is exactly, other then bad news. Some sore of Hallucinogen. Gives people really trippy visions... then some people it drives completely bat shit. Homeless guy ripped out his own eyes to try to make them stop."

Molly Carpenter has posed:
Molly Carpenter shudders at mention of the Red Court Vampires with a crinkle of her nose in absolute distaste. "I'm not as good at dealing with those as Harry is," she admits before taking a sip of her ice cold Pepsi. "And I'm no chemist, but I can see if there's anything magical going on with that drug. There's plenty of beings out there that feed off of the misery and fear of humans. Do we need to go find some of this or...?" The question lingers there as she gives a small shrug.

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith gives her a bit of a wry twist of his lips and walks over to his desk. He un locks a drawer, pulls it completely out, and opens the false bottom. Only then does he remove a small vial of sickly green liquid. "Don't ask me where I got that. Just assume that the thing I got it from won't be missing it." He says simply.

Molly Carpenter has posed:
Molly Carpenter rolls her eyes when he moves to get the drug. Of course he had some of it. Why wouldn't he? Turning her attention to the vial she regards it with a look of distaste. "It's a liquid and people are taking this?" She has to consider a moment longer before asking, "Orally or injection? Might make a difference for how it's taken." Rather than reach out to take the vial directly from him she dips her hand into the pocket of her jeans to pull out a pair of nitrile gloves like one would expect to find at a police scene. She'd learned if you're an inspector it never hurts to inspect... Plus with her ability to 'read' off items sometimes it was nice to not have it happen on the fly.

Thomas Raith has posed:
"Orally, I'm pretty sure. Haven't heard of anyone crazy enough to shoot this stuff up. Gave a sample to a cup friend of mine to run some discreet tests. It's mostly essence of wormwood. Absinthe. They also found traces of Payote in it, which is a hallucinogen, but not on this scale. Nothing it it /should/ cause the reaction it's causing...which is why I want a wizards opinion."

Molly Carpenter has posed:
Molly Carpenter takes the item with a little sigh and she pulls out a bit of chalk, and she sets her drink to the side as she leans down to scratch a few symbols and a circle onto the table surface. The vial is put inside, and she closes the circle with another swipe of chalk. Sitting back she cracks her knuckles, and settles in to begin the breakdown. "Okay, give me like... You know I'm not going to say 'five minutes' because depending what it is... But let me see."

The circle glows around the vial as she focuses her will into it. Slowly her nose crinkles as she goes over the ingredients. "There's nothing good in this," she finally states, "Absinthe is the base. Glitter for sight, alum for smell... antifreeze to taste. Seriously?" Then she shivers. "A baby's wail for sound. Snake skin for touch. Peyote for the mind, and vampire blood for the spirit. Whoever made this is giving their all to hit as many senses as possible and not in a good way."

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith nods a bit, sipping his tea. "Double whammy on that last one. They think they are getting high, which they are... but if they are getting trace amounts of Red Court Blood from this stuff, then sooner or later they are going to seek out the Vampires themselves. They'll be compelled.

Molly Carpenter has posed:
Molly Carpenter nods solemnly at this in agreement. "Yeah. Perfect feeding for them. They get someone who is half insane looking for a way out. Offer a few sweet words and snack city." It causes her to shudder even though it was her own description. "Then you either end up with a lot of dead bodies, or a lot of crazy new Red Court vampires. Probably ones who wouldn't fight the change, either."

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith nods simply at that leaning back in his chair. "Reds didn't come up with this on their own. My bet is they got a wizard or warlock of some level making it for them. And since he'd be strong enough to make this, I somehow doubt that they are keeping him by force." he takes a long drink of his tea and shakes his head. "We should probibly call Harry and bring him in on this, shouldn't we?"
