Cast of Characters: Karrin Murphy, Harry Dresden

Karrin Murphy has posed:
It's been a few days. Recovery is going well enough. Karrin's now more awake than she's asleep and off the heavy dose pain killers. They're talking gentle PT, though her arm will be in a brace for a good few weeks lest she do more damage to healing muscles. That means that, officially, she's going totally stir crazy. She's sitting up at the moment, working one handed on a small tablet someone brought her. She's looking over a few reports from the PD, her expression all business even through the slight pinch of pain around her eyes. Someone helped her wash her hair, but that's about it, so it's damp in messy almost waves instead of it's normal straight bob. She still looks a little fragile but nothing like the paper and ash she did before.

Harry Dresden has posed:
It's a risk going to the hospital given the area Murphy is currently hold up in, but one Harry is willing to take that risk and try the dampening spell one more time. He raps on the door to the hospital room couple of times, softly calling from the hall, "Karrin? You awake and decent?"

Karrin Murphy has posed:
"Awake, yes... Decent, well... You try nothing but sponge baths and George-of-The-Jungle the nurse washing your hair." Karrin deadpans through the door, but she can actually speak loud enough to be HEARD, through a door, and all of her salty humor is back, so that's certainly a good sign. She does, however, kill the power on the tablet and set it aside on the far table, considering she knows who is just about to walk in the room. A tired but honestly relieved smile crosses her features as she looks towards the door. She cannot deny that she's happy to see him.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden peeks his head in, "Did someone say sponge bath?"

Harry walks into the hospital room, carrying a simple bouquet of flowers in one hand, which he sets on a table by the door. "If you wanted a rub down with a sponge, all you ever had to do was ask, Murph. Hell's bells, no need to go through all this trouble." He grins, offering over a little wink to the bedridden woman and says is a more caring, less humorous tone, "How are you doing?"

Karrin Murphy has posed:
"...You know, I'm half tempted. You'd have to do a better job than George. But I wonder if you'd be able to, uh...reign yourself in around all these monitors and shirtless Karrin?" The woman teases, her smile all flirtatious, but she didn't say no. She pats her free hand against the side of the bed that is on her good arm, even gently trying to scoot over a bit to make room for him. Screw this sitting on the stiff hospital chair. "I... am... alright. Talk of PT in four weeks. Four. Fucking. Weeks. I'm going to murder someone, Harry." That's the look of someone putting on a brave face, teasing, but flatly terrified.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Wanders over to take the offered seat on the bed, raising his hand to lightly brush the hair away from her face, lowering his head to offer her a gentle peck, just in case drug induced decisions have come back to bite her int he ass already. "Oh, I am pretty sure that would be a no. I am only a man. You know us men folk, breasts are our kryptonite."

He nods, "You'll get better, Murph. It will just take some time, but you will make a full recovery. You are too stubborn not to. I know it will seem like forever, but best give it the time to heal than push yourself hard enough to find yourself right back in here."

"I took your care into the mechanic today. Place over in Harlem that I was told about. Owner seems nice enough, and she plays on my side of the street. I may have to make the payments off in trade, but it should be done by the time you get out of here."

Karrin Murphy has posed:
As he settles on the bed next to her and leans in for the peck, Murphy returns it. Lightly. Not quite so certain or having lost all inhibition of the other night. She listens to his words, but stays close for a few moments, leaning her nose against his cheek. "...So...I wasn't dreaming... the first time you came in here? Wasn't just some... hallucination? I figured not, I saw the note, but... I didn't really know if... all that happened. Maybe we just talked. And... thank you. For the car. I'd say I owe you but... You sorta owed me."

Harry Dresden has posed:
A small smile forms on his lips, his head moving slightly to rub her nose with his cheek in an affectionate gesture, "No, it wasn't a dream, Karrin. No hallucination." He lifts his head enough to turn and look at her, "I was here, we talked, we kissed...again. And I have no regrets."

He leans forward once more and places a kiss to the tip of her nose, "And yes, I did owe you. It was the least I could do. I left your number with Mercy, the mechanic, so if you may hear from her, but I already told her to fix whatever she finds and bill me."

Karrin Murphy has posed:
The kiss against her nose makes her wrinkle it in a way that is ALMOST cute. Well, really cute. But don't tell her that. She turns her head enough she can actually lean up to properly kiss his lips, tasting that mostly sober for the first time. It makes her smile. She pulls back enough she can look into his eyes. "...well... Good. I... I don't either. Except that I was drugged to high hell and can barely remember it." She huskily laughs.

She then leans a bit more to the side, against him more than the bed, happy to take a few moments to breathe in his warmth, his support. "... Mercy? I'll remember that... and maybe I'll be on my feet faster than you realize. I... got a friend looking into a few things."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry accepts the kiss with a smile before he sits up a little bit more, his hadn't moving to find her good one, "Well, maybe we will just have to recreate the moment when you get out of here, and maybe make another." Harry waggles his brow and offers over a wink.

"A friend? Well, I hope he can find something. I wish I could do more, but healing magic is....limited. I may be able to help with the pain once you get out, but mending the body take way more skill than I have."

He looks to the clock and sighs, "I can't stay to much longer. The dampening spell I have on isn't going to last more than a few more minutes."

Karrin Murphy has posed:
There is something behind Karrin's eyes. Something probably only Harry notices because they DO know each other that well. A weird worry, slight guilt, mess of things she's not bringing up. Maybe it's about that 'friend', or maybe she's just conflicted about them. There wasn't time for them to worry about it tonight. So, she puts on her game, reassuring smile and reaches her hand to squeeze his. It's an actual squeeze, this time. Reassuring and firm.

"I'm gonna get out of here soon. Few days max. I'm going insane. Then yes, even if I'm all... wrapped up, I think we can make accommodations and... have another moment or two soon. We waited too damn long. Hell... *I* made us wait too damn long..."

Harry Dresden has posed:
If he notices the glance, and he probably does, he lets it slide without comment. There will be time for all of that later when she heals.

He returns the squeeze of the hand, "We will take it slow, Murph. There is no rush.. We waited this long, right? What is important is that you get yourself better."

Harry rises from the edge of the bed, leaning down to offer one last kiss, soft and gentle. A combination between caring friend and something deeper. "Heal, be well, and I will come by again soon."

Karrin Murphy has posed:
Reluctantly, but she knows it needs to happen, Karrin lets him get up. She does lean forward, into that kiss, putting enough heat behind it that there is no question if she's merely being friendly. She's taken this leap and, in their few stolen moments, she's going to enjoy it. But then they pull back, Karrin's monitors more than a touch excited for it all. She's almost blushing.

"...Sometimes quick is good too. But... another night. I love you. I'll see you soon. This will all work out. It'll be fine..." Those are the last words she gives him, a bit more pressure behind the statement. Like she is convincing herself as much as she is him. Then there is a last squeeze to his hand and she lets that go too.

Harry Dresden has posed:
"I know." Harry says with a wink, leaving that just sitting there for a while, and then adds after dramatic pause he adds, "I love you too, Karrin. I will see you soon."

Something starts to squeal from one of the monitors and he sighs, lifting his hand in a wave as he slips out the door.
