Date of Scene: 25 October 2019
Location: Berto's Apartment
Synopsis: Sam gives Berto something to think upon.
Cast of Characters: Sunspot, Cannonball

Sunspot has posed:
Roberto apartment is one of those condos overlooking Central Park that are crazy expensive. Only crazy wealthy people can afford them, which is why for Roberto Da Costa it was almost mandatory to get one.

It is like wearing expensive business suites. Only the condo is really comfortable. For New York. He would still prefer the old school mansion, but he meets with important people here.

"Come in, relax, have a drink," Roberto offers Sam. "It has been a couple busy weeks and I have not been able to go to Xavier's. But I heard the Prof is back. Have you seen him?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie shakes his head, and says "Nothing more than in passing, he came back in and dived in head first into getting to know what had changed reading up on new students and such. Sam looks over, and says "Got any ice tea?" He will ask about for a drink as he scans around the place.

Sunspot has posed:
Roberto has a full bar with many expensive drinks. Most of them he technically can't drink yet. Of course he has no iced tea. "I knew I was forgetting something," he replies with a smirk. "I do have iced coffee, tho," he offers as a compromise.

The apartment is too large for a single person, but not huge by any means. The living room is larger than the one in the mansion, which is already huge. The other rooms are also large, but not extravagantly so. One is an office and the other three seems to be bedrooms. The kitchen is smaller and doesn't seem to get used much.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and says a soda would be fine thanks." He looks around the place and says "You know Ah should have come by and seen your place before now. so neighbors get upset when ya bounce the soccer ball against the wall?" he jokes a bit. "Doug is actually slacking off from working full time, he and Ah had a talk the other night, punched me but seemed to get through to him

Sunspot has posed:
"Actually, like three out of four apartments in the building are empty," explains Roberto, fetching a couple soda cans from the fridge. "They belong to Hollywood moguls, European pop stars and Arabian princes that spend maybe two weeks a year in the city."

He tosses one of the cans to Sam. "Some are interesting people, but most are weird and crazy at near Mojo levels." He smirks again. "Doug is... uh, I heard he was dating Illyana. He really shouldn't work so much. I bet Yana is high-maintenance."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie chuckles a bit and catches it and taps the lid before opening it. "I think it was more just a passing thing to be honest. He and Ah were just talking a bit last night. Actually a second less pressing reason I wanted to talk to you came up from it." He tells the other. He looks around again and says "Rent here is probably stupid insane Ah take it?" he hmms and says "Doug and Ah were talking about looking into a place, and actually was thinking see if you were interested in finding a place with three bedrooms, but Ah don't think we can compete.

Sunspot has posed:
"Rent is insane in this building," confirms Roberto. "Which I why I purchased it. If I leave the city I can sell it for a gain." He shrugs, then considers the possibility of a shared apartment.

He shakes his head. "I have a guest room if you need to crash. The other room is for my mother when she visits the city. But why are you two moving downtown?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks to the other, and says "Well part of it we both got to thinking that if was late nights either at X-corp or the club, and we didn't feel like heading back to the mansion, we could crash at the place, and the other, well." He rubs the back of his neck blushing a bit "Sorta hard to cook dinner for a date back at the mansion, all the kids, and such about ya know?

Sunspot has posed:
Roberto laughs. "Oh, you found a girl that is not a mutant? Good for you!" He sips from his soda and looks outside thoughtful. His own personal life is pretty bleak lately. Who would have thought a few years back?

"Well, you have the money. Evolutions is going very well. Now, maybe not for Manhattan," he comments. "Although if you really want a place in Manhattan, I can get you one. "

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie chuckles a bit and says "Actually she is a mutant, but did not know it when Ah first met her, and Andrea sorta set me up with her, telling her about my fried chicken." He will tell the other "And Doug and Ah will see about finding a place probably down that ways. Was actually seeing if you were interested not for ya money but for you. Thought might be fun being roomies and all maybe a little like old times. Doug and Ah aint sure how often we would be there but we will find a place.

Sunspot has posed:
Roberto nods, and then sights. "I need to stay here. Otherwise I would have asked for my old room back in the mansion. You two... hmm, both of you work in Mutant Town. Rent is cheap there. The other alternative I was going to suggest is getting a place in Salem Center. Commute is a killer unless you can fly. Doug can't."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods his head a bit and says "Ah was thinking maybe we would look into finding a brownstone or something. Did not know how much ya liked this place, didn't think about you actually buying an apartment, figured you were leasing or something. Doug and I will find a place Ah am sure." He smirks a bit and says "Now, want to hear what Ah want to use your and your money for?" He asks his friend.

Sunspot has posed:
"This is a good place," replies Roberto with a somber expression. "It is not a home, but it will do for now, I guess." The mention to the use of his money brings a new smirk to his face, and he finishes his soda. "Sure, go ahead. It better not be another club. You still owe me a Dazzler concert, buddy."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie chuckles a bit and says "Well, got an Andrea one coming up to tide ya over, but it is not another club." He smirks and says "Ever thought about buying a town?" He will ask watching his friends reaction.

Sunspot has posed:
Roberto pffs. After all he is at least half responsible from Andrea playing at Evolutions. Sam can't claim that one. Now, a town... "What did you do now?" He asks in mild disbelief.

Not that the concept bothers him, no. His father, Emmanuel, pretty much founded whole towns to foster his business enterprises, and he has inherited places in Brazil where he owns pretty much everything for miles and miles. "Is this again Doug's idea of having a mutant-run town?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie shakes his head, and says "Na, I aint did anything yet, and it is more a human town than a mutant one actually. You have met the other Sam at the school, Ah think. Well we picked up another new student, named Vi. Both of them were held by Hydra in different ways. Sam to be a fighter Vi to be a slave with a whole town of folks made to mine at this place called Echo base. Sam had been there to hunt the people for Hydra. Well not they both want to go to shield to help get the people free.

Sunspot has posed:
"We should all go fight Hydra," states Roberto. "But that is beside the point. I am sure the X-Men will handle it if SHIELD for some reason doesn't want to do their jobs. But what does freeing the slaves have to do with me buying a whole town, brother?"

Roberto has not met Vi or 'other-Sam' yet. But he keeps in touch with the school. Wasn't Vi a Sokovian? That is pretty far from DCI territory. He will hear Sam's plan, regardless.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks to the other man and says "Well she said they were minners, and some may have homes to go to but Ah figure a lot might not. And figured they might need help getting back into normal civilization so thought maybe a small place back home, might work, and as they got their feet under them they could buy the town back from ya piece by piece."
