Profile

One of a number of teens 'recruited' into the Project Genesis program, Bobby was one of those who went into it willingly. Figuring he had nothing to lose, he was willing to see what might happen and the compensation was tempting enough. However, upon learning what the organization was really after, he joined a small group of other recruits who rebelled against and eventually escaped the Gen13 project.

He's been on the run with them, trying to both stay under the radar of anyone hunting them, but also learning about his new powers and how they can be used to help others. A once rather quiet, anti-social sort, he's learning to deal with his past issues and come out of his shell more. It's hard to be a wall-flower when you can become a human fireball.

Description:

The man ahead looks to be in his early twenties. Standing at six foot one, with a build that is particularly muscled, slim and nicely toned. His head is covered in short sandy blonde hair which is kept out of his nicely built face, revealing a chiseled jaw with little to no sign of stubble, a nose free of any damage, and a pair of blue eyes. All of which makes him good looking for someone his age.

History

History:

Robert 'Bobby' Lane grew up in a series of Foster Homes, none of which were ideal although a couple were actually decent to him. He was labeled 'troubled' from the beginning, and most of the families weren't able to put up with his acting out and simmering, sometimes violent temper. It really came as no surprise to anyone that he barely passed the many schools he went to or that once he turned eighteen, he was pretty much left out on his own. He did manage to graduate and when he was approached by Project Genesis, it was a no-brainer as it was that or the Military for him.

Little did he know what would happen at Project Genesis. Who knew that he had some sort of latent genetic powers that made him Pyrokinetic?

Honestly, Project Genesis was the best thing that happened to him, not just because of the powers, but because he would meet up with a group of other teens who would become friends and teammates. After the breakout, he remained with the others, trying to figure out his new life.

Personality

Personality:

Bobby isn't the most extroverted of the bunch and he often wears the expression of a bored or disenchanted teen, but he pays attention. He listens. And despite the nickname given to him at school, he's smart. He may not be a walking encyclopedia, but he's socially intelligent and a lot more sensitive than most, even his close friends, give him credit for.

It's not to say that he's a pushover, only that he knows how and when to fight most of his battles. Most. Not all. As his powers might dictate, he can have a quick and firey temper. With his history of Foster homes and difficult times in school, it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that he tends to keep his emotions well-hidden until they get to be too much and then they explode. Easy fun is much better than dealing with philosophical conundrums.

Abilities

Flight:
With the ability to generate heat, Bobby is able to create his own thermal pocket which allows him to essentially fly under his own power. Once airborne, he can achieve flight easily by shifting the amount of heat in any direction. Of course the speed at which he can fly depends on the weather conditions, if he?s carrying someone and how much fuel (food) he's had before flight. With his maximum being 140 mph for 4hrs (excluding any sort of boosting, which would cut down his flight time); his average cruising speed: 70mph for 8 hours, and minimum: 35mph for 12 with hovering falling under indefinite usage.

Heat & Radiation Immunity:
Bobby is immune to extreme heat and radiation that might be generated from such temperatures. Could he survive on the sun? He hasn't tried it yet.

Heat Generation:
In the beginning, there was heat generation, allowing Bobby to increase the ambient heat around himself or an object. While it makes him a great radiator in the winter, it can also be detrimental to objects that might end up incinerated if the heat output is too high.

Latent Telepathy:
Little does Robert know, but his birth-father is a powerful telepath whose own awakened powers have been passed down to his son. Bobby has only had little glimpses of this power as it begins to emerge, but there is definite potential for it to be something he can control and use in the future.

Pyrokinesis:

His ability to generate plasma which ignites when exposed to oxygen gives him the fire, but he can not only generate the plasma, but he can also control it. Some uses he's explored and practiced are blasts of plasma/fire and fire shields to help deflect or destroy incoming attacks. His skill itself is finely tuned when he focuses, but it is also linked to his emotional state. An angry Burnout is a very firey Burnout!

Skills

Combat Training:
Thanks to Project Genesis, Bobby received some basic combat training. While he prefers to attack his foes from afar using his pyrokinetic blasts, he's not a stranger to throwing a kick or a punch.

Musician:
One of the few things that calms Bobby down is his music, either listening to it or playing it. He's actually fairly silled with the guitar and is always curious to find and support live musicians.

Observant:
He's not one of the more gregarious of the friends but he observes. He watches and listens and will contribute when he feels that he needs to do so. Sometimes he's unfocused, but for the most part, he's taking things in before deciding how and what he will contribute.

Teamwork:

Bobby would never consider himself any sort of 'natural leader', but he enjoys being a part of and working with a team. It doesn't hurt that they've been through quite a lot together and know each other well enough to know the best way for the team to succeed. If there's ever a question of going off on one's own or working with the team, he'll choose the team almost all the time.

Resources

Gen13:

Not only are they friends, but they're a team. They're also the only 'family' that Bobby has felt like he had in...ever. They've been through a lot together and he knows that they will always have his back just like he will always have their's. That and they're some pretty awesome people who can probably help with anything he needed.

Weaknesses

Cold:
The regular cold of even a normal Winter isn't going to hurt or debilitate Burnout, but someone with cold powers could potentially get past his defenses if they're strong enough. If he and Iceman were in a fight, Iceman would probably win.

Hunted:
A lot of money went into encouraging Burnout's manifestation and those that made that investment don't want to lose it so easily. While he's not exactly subtle when his powers manifest, he, along with the others of Gen13, are trying to lay low to stay off of certain radars. He might also be hunted by other forces that he is, as of yet, unaware.

Temper:

While he may not always show it, Bobby has a temper. He tends to push his anger down and down and down until it's just too much and he explodes. Fire seemed to be the right element for him as it can be both warming and violently destructive.
