Description

Description:

She's hard to miss, six and a half-feet tall even at her smallest, dark red hair spilling down her shoulders. At times, of course, she lives up to her codename, growing in mass until she's as tall as a skyscraper. Her features have a striking, angular quality, with a wide, red-lipped mouth and ferocious green eyes. She radiates confidence and menace, intense and undeniable.

Her garb consists a stylized costume, a leopard print top that leaves one shoulder and her arms bare. Her midriff is left exposed as well, hard muscles dilineated. She wears black bracers on her wrists, her hands long-fingered and strong. She wears a leopard style loincloth over dark shorts, maintaining her modesty. She goes barefoot, her legs long and intimidating - even more so when she's hundreds of feet tall.

History

History:

Dr. Doris Zuel grew up brilliant, amoral and ambitious. Afflicted with a rare genetic disorder, she knew her life would be shortened. She found this not daunting or frightening, but infuriating. Gifted with a sharp intellect, she threw herself into study, focusing on cutting edge genetics and medicine, achieving both an MD and a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering by the age of 25. But she was getting sicker and weaker.

Her experimentation got stranger, more daring. Finally, she concocted a formula that she thought might be her cure, incorporating even alchemical and occult knowledge into the formula, a strange mixture of magic and science, her only hope. And it worked. It cured her. And it changed her. She grew immediately, growing nearly a foot in height and gaining muscle. And she learned that, at will, she could grow larger. Far larger. She could become a literal giant.

She was delighted.

No longer facing death and with her powers making her emotions more intense and unpredictable, she has become a menace to the world. She seeks power and fortune, taking anything she sees fit and daring the heroes of the world to stand in her way. She promises to crush them beneath her heel if they dare.

Personality

Personality:

Because of her illness and her dedication to study, Doris spent a great deal of her youth sacrificing, doing without, laid up in bed or buried in books. No more. Freed from the curse of sickness, she lives life utterly to the fullest. She takes whatever she wants, with little regard for the feelings or desires of others. Amoral, rapacious and aggressive, she can also put up a cold wall when she desires, entering a place of scientific detachment and emptiness. In her gigantic form, however, her emotions become heightened and volatile - she's prone to rage, destruction and violence. Her wicked laugh ringing through a city can send chills down the spine.

Abilities

Base Form:
Even without increasing her size, Giganta's base form is larger and stronger than normal. In her base state, she can lift around five tons, capable of tearing off a car door or busting an arm through a wall of brick. She's just barely bulletproof and resistant to basic blades and the like. Again, as she increases in size, these abilities grow more formidable.

Gigantic Form:

Giganta has the ability to increase her size and mass, growing in height and weight until she reaches truly titanic proportions. At her most massive, she's been around 150 meters or 500 feet or so in height and weighed nearly 6000 kg. In this form, she is truly terrifying, possessing strength and resistance to injury commensurate with her size. She can shatter buildings, lift city buses and trains and manhandle them like toys. The larger she is, the greater her size and strength. In addition, her size increase results in increased emotional volatility, making her more unstable and more monstrous the larger she grows. If she has something strategic or planned in mind, she is more likely to go to a less than maximum size to try and retain a greater degree of self-control.

Skills

Destroyer:
Giganta revels in destruction. She's adept at lashing out, using her massive physical might to annihilate things in her path. She's become accustomed to fighting at her massive size, dealing with interfering heroes and armies like the pests that they are. Even at normal size, she's a fierce brawler more than capable of holding her own in a fight (although she's certainly no martial artist). She relies directly on her physical power and direct brutality over technique.

Occult:
While she isn't a true occultist, Doris delved into magic and alchemy in her search for a cure and incorporated magical elements into the formula that granted her powers. She has a rudimentary grasp of the magical world, incomplete and spotty but with a good grasp of specific elements related to transformation, alchemy and transformation. This knowledge is largely academic, however, and she does not formally practice magic.

Scientist:

Doris is a skilled and educated scientist, with a background focused in biomedical engineering and genetics. She's familiar with the most modern and cutting edge form of experimental equipment, can participate in rigorous scientific discussion and has a broad knowledge in the skills related to the pursuit of professional science.

Costumes:
Through the black market and a liberal amount of theft, Giganta possesses several costumes of so-called unstable molecules, allowing them to change size along with her and keep her clothed even at her most massive size. This is a good thing.

Society:

Giganta exists as part of the super-villainous and criminal community. She often works alongside other super criminals and has friends and allies among them. When the occasional Council or League or Legion or Society of wicked world conquerors turns up, Giganta can often be found among them.

Weaknesses

Big Target:
At giant size, Giganta may be highly resistant to injury but she's also fairly hard to miss. She isn't capable of doing much in the way of dodging or evasive maneuvers - she's very much the broad side of a barn and likely to draw attention and fire. In addition, she isn't stealthy in the least and, big as she becomes, she's likely to draw the majority of enemy attention and fire onto herself by sheer size.

Instability:
The greater her size, the more emotionally unstable and filled with rage Giganta becomes. While she always retains some of her reason, she nonetheless can react utterly irrationally, usually in a violent manner. In this state, she isn't prone to strategy or thought-out battle plans - she just lashes out. While normally quite brilliant, in her giant form, she can be baited and outwitted in ways she would never succumb to at her ordinary size.

Room To Maneuver:
Being big is not always ideal. Sometimes she's operating inside or in tight quarters, where knocking through the ceiling or destroying her surroundings wouldn't be a good idea, either for herself or for any allies. In such cases, she has to make a choice between remaining small and comparatively vulnerable or using her powers properly and endangering her actual plan.

Smaller:
The smaller Giganta is, the weaker she is. If you can catch her before she can grow larger or strike fast before she can assume her gigantic form (it usually takes a matter of a minute or so to grow from her basic height to full size), you might be able to stop her before she reaches her most dangerous state.

Vulnerabilities:

While highly resistant to physical harm in her giant form, Giganta is far from invulnerable. Her senses can be overwhelmed and she has vulnerable tissues in her eyes and throat. She can be overwhelmed with force, simply overpowered by massive numbers of superhuman blows or attacks. She's vulnerable to psionic and magical attack of many different types. While direct physical force is rarely the right solution, more subtle methods can yield rewards when battling Giganta.
