Description

Standing at about 5'8", a shade on the taller side of the average female, this woman often stands out in a crowd due to her bright red and long flowing red hair that billows off her shoulders and down to the middle of her back but the rest of it is hidden in a dark blue mask that covers all of her features a wedge just past the tip of her nose, her lips and lower jawline exposed.

Her eyes are covered by overly large white windows, and off the center of each eye is a ridge of blue tipped with yellow that serves most likely as a design pattern.

The rest of her body is fully covered in the costume, as if it were a single piece. Her long neck, arms, and feminine curves are all covered in the dark blue that matches her mask, as well as her legs. Over her waist is a red belt that billows out to contrast against the costume and highlight her hair. Upon her hands and feet, bright yellow mid-length gloves and boots.

History

Patsy Walker never had an ordinary childhood. Patsy Walker had a FAMOUS childhood. And there's a big difference. Sure, she was famous. She had a TV show where she would sing songs about, and pretend to be, a hero, representing all the good things about all the heroes in the world and everything every child with imagination wanted to be, at that age. Briefly, she was even highlighted in her own comic book as well.

During this time, her mother adopted Jessica Jones - it was more of a publicity stunt than kindness, but Patsy and Jessica became friends, especially after Jessica showed off her powers by saving her from her mother's psychological and physical abuse to keep Patsy at the 'proper weight' for a child star. From that day on, Patsy owed Jessica, and agreed to never tell anyone about Jessica's abilities.

As she grew older, there really wasn't a place for her anymore and she went to live on the royalties from her show and fame for a few years, until opportunity knocked and provided her with a talk radio show which she took to heart, and took seriously. And she was damn good at it.

Knowing about Jessica's abilities, though, drove her onwards. She used her money to take combat lessons from personal trainers, had equipment brought to her home to further train and honed herself as much as she could. That's why she was prepared when Jessica, who had been out of her life for a little while, came back - and Killgrave was on Jessica's trail. The situation got worse, before it got better, but Patsy put herself in the literal line of fire, risking her own health and mental state to help Jessica kill Killgrave. An action she has never regretted.

Not long after, Patsy started dating someone seriously while working on a tough news story. Unfortunately for her, the story was a bit sensitive, and she ended up getting kidnapped. Using her skills to break free, she found The Cat costume in the den she'd been holed up in - donned it, and found it gave her augmented powers. She used it to escape, and began to use her newfound costume and abilities to help people, just like she had always done as a child, just as she wanted to do ever since she'd seen Jessica deal with her overzealous mother.

Patsy kept her identity a secret from nearly everyone she could, even the man she was dating. But, she ended up finding out that the man she was dating very seriously and considering engagement with was a very powerful Demonic Lord - and when his True Self was revealed to her she went mad and killed herself.

That wasn't the end of Patsy though. She found herself in Hell, but managed to collect her mind, collect her purpose, and realize the things above and beyond that were happening, the usurption that was taking place. She found new powers in Hell, and utilized them and her skills to talk the other Lords of Hell into freezing Hell over to stop the ursurption, and her knowledge of the Son of Satan at the end of it all to win her life back through wit, charm, and sarcastic barbs. In the end, she gambled, and won (for now) against Mephisto - something few in history could claim ever to have done. This entire experience was years to Patsy, but only minutes in reality; Patsy had been declared dead, then come back. It was a 'miracle'.

With her newfound abilities, Hellcat joined the Defenders, joining Jessica in her own tirade against the injustice that seeps beyond the scope of the Avengers and others, to protect the people. Just like Trish Talk does, on her dayjob. She knows her bill is due, and one day, Mephisto will come to collect. Until then, she's going to make the most out of every single moment, with family, friends, teammates, and herself.

Personality

  • Protector = Patsy wants to protect everyone she can. She's found, with Jessica's help, the resolve within herself to champion those that cannot champion themselves, either through media networks and her talk show, or simply by opening up an old fashioned can of whup ass when it needs to be opened. It's also how she keeps her own inner demons and guilt away.
  • Curious = All cats are, aren't they? Patsy is never one to leave well enough alone if someone drops a clue her way or drops a subtle hint but then clamps up. She will dig, poke, prod, investigate, until she gets to the heart of the matter. This has its good points and its bad points, of course, and can easily backfire as much as it can lend a breaking story or the saving of someone's life.
  • Supportive = Patsy does have her fun side and can be quite capricious, but that can be tempered sometimes with a bit of sarcasm since her return back from Hell. Still, she tends to try to see the best in nearly any situation usually when her friends are down, and will often try to cheer them up, or even just be there to talk to and listen to.
  • Charismatic = Few people can say they can whip off sarcastic comments to the Lords of Hell and live to tell about it, but Patsy has. People listen to her, whether it's the Lords of Hell, the city of New York, other Defenders, or other Heroes. They may not always agree, and she might not always change minds, but there's an air about her that makes people sit up, and pay attention. She has a flair for it.

Abilities

CATFLAPS
Coupling with her ability to sense mystic phenomena, Patsy is able to detect pre-existing dimensional tears/rifts in the world. While she cannot create them herself, she -is- able to use them to move between places. These are like small, earth-centric wormholes/gates that allow her to move from place-to-place readily. She has a small network of these she knows of, and how they connect.

She has taken to calling these "Catflaps". These Catflaps are restricted to her person only, limited to Earth, and are incapable of transporting her to other dimensions - the Catflaps in each dimension are local to that dimension only.

ENHANCED SPEED
Patsy is able to move and react a little faster than an Olympic Athlete, making her at times too quick for the eye to track unless one also has similar abilities. This allows her to move through empty space, or even her enemies at seeming lightning speed.

ENHANCED STRENGTH
Patsy is a little stronger than an Olympic athlete. This allows her the ability to continue the fight past the point of exhaustion for a lot of people, as well as to effortless rend stone and brick with her claws without wear and tear on her fingers/wrist and flesh among other things.

MYSTIC AURA
Patsy exudes a 'mystic aura' which offers her some minor protection from magic. By twisting her body against a magic attack, the attack may instead glance off her instead of affecting her. She can also wriggle out of a binding spell that might otherwise be impossible for those not skilled in magic to do so. It does not make her immune to magic, but it does make her a bit more 'slippery' for magic to affect her as it would other people.

MYSTIC SENSE
Patsy is able to sense mystic energies and auras, be they events, or around persons or items that have an affinity or link to the mystic world. This ability lends her able to pierce many types of illusions of mystic origins and lends her far less susceptible to mind tampering from mystic sources as well.

Those highly skilled may be aware of the auras they give out and may be able to shield that detection from her and remain unknown as a mystic user.

OOC: This is a consent-based ability as far as detection goes.

SUMMON SUIT

At will, Patsy can summon or dispel her cat-suit through her mystical aura. It's rather convenient at times. And it means no phone booths. Ever.

Skills

INVESTIGATOR
Patsy has some experience with her time in talk radio, as well as working solo, and with the Defenders in finding out information. She's not as good as the top dogs in this arena, but she's fairly adapt at it nevertheless and able to find and string clues together more than most.

MARTIAL-ARTS
Patsy is proficient at several forms of martial-arts, but master of none. She has had multiple personal trainers assist her with personal protection and defensive skills which she later learned to use offensively after becoming Hellcat. Additional experience as a Defender has only helped her gain further skill at these. She can hold her own in a fight, and against multiple opponents in general.

STEALTH

Patsy is quite adapt at the arts of stealth and evasion, capable of breaking into even a high security government building to steal file information if the need is great enough. However, buildings such as the Triskelion or other super-high security that might have meta/mutant countermeasures in place are a beyond her skill level.

Resources

CAT SUIT
Hellcat has a costume she wears when she takes up the Hellcat mantle. The suit is made from nano-fiber and provides some marginal protection against impact damage as well as maneuverability. For gloves and boots the costume has 'Cat Claws' which are retractable hand and foot claws from casehardened steel alloy that are capable of piercing or rending stone or brickwork.

Additionally she also employs a cable-claw hidden in her right wrist, which uses a compressed gas mechanism to fire a cable up to 30 feet, at the end of which a four-clawed grappling hook is sometimes used to climb or swing upon.

DEFENDERS
Hellcat is a member of the Defenders and can call upon them for assistance, or usually make use of what slim resources they might have at their disposal, usually for information or contacts. Let's face it - the Defenders don't have the tech gadgets and abilities of the Avengers or Justice League. But they do get around.

FAME
Patsy Walker is somewhat of a celebrity - her own and new generations are growing up watching her childhood TV show in syndication and on DVDs while her current job as a Talk Show Radio Host often has her in the news, and on other people's lips. She has a fairly broad listening audience.

WEALTH

While Patsy isn't in the top few hundred of wealthiest people in NYC, she has a fairly comfortable income, can afford personal trainers, and a guarded penthouse to keep "weirdos" and "fans" away. Part of this is her fortune she still makes off her TV branding from a childhood star, but she has a healthy income from her current job as a Talk Show Host in the city as well.

Weaknesses

GUILT
Patsy carries around guilt - guilt for a lot of things. Of what happened to Jessica. Of the mistake of marrying the man she did. Of her suicide. The guilt leads to depression, and can make her moody at times. She can be her own worst enemy during these periods.

MEPHISTO
You can't escape Hell and not expect it to come back for you. Patsy made it out by the skin of her teeth and returned back to life, but she knows in the back of her mind that Mephisto will be someday coming to collect. Her time here is limited, so she has to make the most of what she has.

NOSY

Part of the reason Patsy is so successful at her current career is a bit nosy. Granted, it helps out in her own investigations for her show - and in her after-hours hobby of being Hellcat, but it has caused tensions when she gets too 'involved' with trying to help them or their personal situations. It's not that she's a busybody - she just wants to help, but can come off as a bit overbearing at times.
