Description:

Doreen Green is an adorable and plump young woman in her early twenties, with russet hair and deep brown eyes. Her hair's trimmed a bit on the sides and back but is nice and voluminous atop her head, floofy and bouncy. She has a button nose and rosy cheeks. A bit of an overbite only gets shown off a lot as she has a tendency to smile easily. She's freckle-faced but tan, as if she spends quite a bit of time outdoors.

Doreen's wearing a faux-leather bomber jacket with a poofy collar. Underneath, she has a bright green shirt with the words ASK ME ABOUT MY NUTS printed across it, a cute little cartoon squirrel depicted underneath. She has simple pants and booted feet, her figure compact and curvy.

Oh yeah, and a tail. A huge squirrel tail, coming out of the back of her pants and framing her body from behind, thick-furred and agile and definitely marking her as not exactly ordinary.

History

History:

Many superheroes have extremely sad or tragic backgrounds. Doreen Green is not among them. She grew up in the suburbs, to loving parents in relative comfort. Although she showed her mutant abilities as she reached her teenage years, her parents were understanding and supportive of their daughter's difference. They weren't as fond of her trying to be a superhero, but it just kind of comes with the territory.

Using her squirrelish gifts, she made herself first a local hero in her small town in Michigan and then brought her act to New York City as she went to university at Empire State. She's gotten to know some other heroes along the way and, while they don't always take her seriously, she's very well-liked. She's even gotten a few jobs babysitting the children of superhero types. She's not a dark avenger or a fearsome creature of the night. She's just a girl with squirrel powers. But she's going to keep doing her best!

Personality

Personality:

Doreen is a kind, compassionate and friendly person by nature. She doesn't like violence, but she is willing to dish out some kicks and punches to help make the world safer. Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, quite literally, she's an optimist and a helper. She's got a fangirl's heart, having wanted to be a superhero since even before she discovered her powers. She's hard to discourage and tries to see the best in everyone and every situation. She's hard to intimidate, though, because, sweet as she is, she's very self-confident and doesn't shy away from doing the right thing.

Abilities

Regeneration:
Doreen possesses a built-in healing factor that regenerates injuries. While not as potent as, say, Wolverine's, it's still a serious help, healing up bullet wounds in a matter of hours, bruises or broken bones in less. Her body will stabilize quickly with near-mortal wounds and enable her to seek help.

Squirrel!:
Doreen's primary mutation lies in her squirrel-like anatomy. She has a large, prehensile tail more than three feet in length, covered in soft, bushy fur. She has small claws in her hands that enable her to climb nearly sheer surfaces with surprising ease. Her speed, agility and reflexes are all enhanced to four or five times the human norm. She has a retractable knuckle spike capable of penetrating solid wood (or human flesh!). She has superior night-vision that lets her operate in low-light conditions with great ability.

Squirrelstrong:
Doreen possesses superhuman strength. She's not really sure if it's proportionate to a squirrel's strength, but she's not complaining. She can, at her limits, lift/press around 20 tons, enabling her to rip off taxi doors, uplift trees and make vertical leaps of more than fifty feet in height. She also has particularly strong jaws, enabling her to bite through steel plate with her squirrel teeth.

Squirreltongue:

Doreen has the ability to communicate with ordinary squirrels, holding conversations and forming friendships. She has no actual ability to control their behavior, but she's nice to them and most of the squirrels in New York have gotten to know her and see her as one of their own. She can put out an emergency call for help from nearby squirrels and give squirrel friends complex instructions that they can follow and perform tasks for her.

Skills

Caretaker:
Doreen's worked largely in childcare and babysitting as her side jobs. She's very good at keeping track of multiple kids, keeping them entertained and generally proved herself to be trustworthy and worthwhile in the role.

Computers:
Doreen's pretty skilled in computers, having had one since she was very young and learned to code and do simple hacking at an early age. While she's not really a hardcore hacker, she can do some basic stuff and understands cybersecurity fairly well. She can code in multiple languages and is comfortable in tech geek environments.

Fangirl:

Squirrel Girl loves superheroes and has been a serious fangirl since she was in junior high. She writes fanfiction, keeps up on all the latest news and gossip and follows any validated superheroes she finds on social media. She knows lots of trivia and can be, um, a little enthusiastic about her hobby.

Resources

Income:
Doreen's income consists of a combination of babysitting jobs, refunds and stipends from her school scholarships and good old help from Mom and Dad back home. She tries not to burden her parents too much, though, but luckily some of the higher-end nanny and babysitting jobs pay pretty well.

Monkey Joe:

While she can communicate with any squirrels, Monkey Joe is Doreen's closest companion, a squirrel she brought along with her from her hometown. He lives in her house, often sits on her shoulder and is notable for having a pair of aviator goggles and a matching bomber jacket she had made for him. Because they spend so much time together, he's extremely good at fulfilling even complex tasks and will automatically try to get help for Doreen if she's in trouble.

Weaknesses

Compassion:
Doreen is a very sweet and empathetic person. Some heroes may have become immune to the horrors of the world, but Doreen is not among them. Truly violent or vile acts will shock or overwhelm her. Seeing animals or people suffer is extremely unpleasant for her and, while she might respond with great anger, she may also be simply overcome and not be able to handle it.

Underestimated:
Many people just don't take Doreen seriously as a hero. They see her fluffy tail and dismiss her as a joke. While she can usually win them over with her performance, it can be a problem on first meeting other heroes as they have a habit of dismissing her out of hand.

Weirdo:

Doreen's a twenty something girl with a giant bushy squirrel tail. She can hide it a bit by stuffing it her pants and passing it off as a bodacious booty, but she often just leaves it out anymore and takes the staring. It can make it harder for her to pass as human or seem like anything other than...well, Squirrel Girl.
