Description:

This adult white man is an incredibly large, muscular individual standing at at least seven feet in height with shoulders that seem only a bit narrower than that. His head is mostly bald, although a tuft of white hair like a partial mohawk rises from above his forehead. The man's eyes are hidden behind a pair of thick tinted glasses.

The man wears a form-fitting black t-shirt that somehow manages to stretch over his chest and shoulders without tearing and also stays tucked in to a pair of jeans. The man's lower half, although also quite athletic in build, is much more normal in proportion. A pair of black engineer boots are slipped over his feet, and black leather fingerless gloves are pulled over his hands.

History

History:

Guido Carosella grew up a bright, nerdy child, orphaned young and living comfortably with his aunt and uncle following a successful lawsuit relating to the space debris that killed his parents. Despite the tragedy he suffered at a young age, Guido was mostly affable until his classmates began regularly bullying him. While he tried to roll with it at first, the harassment increased in frequency and viciousness.

Eventually, Guido reached his breaking point, and he savagely attacked one of his tormentors during an attempted bullying. As the fight was broken up, Guido staggered into the road, and he was struck by a bus. The impact unleashed the boy's latent mutant gene, and his body tried desperate to absorb the energy of the collision and translate it into physical strength--causing Guido's body to warp, becoming disproportionately large and muscled, especially the upper half of his torso.

Guido opted to deal with the pain that his new body caused by whittling away his childhood fortune, eventually forced to pursue a career in security for various celebrities, primarily professional musicians.

When this was no longer satisfying--and following a brief period in which Guido was mentally controlled by a powerful telepath--he decided to become something akin to a hero, helping others the way he'd been helped. And who needed help more than other mutants, especially those who couldn't fall back on luxury the way he initially could.

Personality

Personality:

In many ways, Guido is an emotionally stunted individual. He craves friendship and the sense of belonging that it can bring--two things he never really had growing up. He frames his world for others through crass, usually cringeworthy humor--further demonstrating that he has a fundamental inability to understand how to relate to others in a productive manner.

At the same time, Guido is also much more self-aware than he lets on. He suffers from chronic and agonizing pain every waking moment of his life, and he doesn't want anyone to pity him or define their relationship with him through the lens of that pain. He chooses humor (even if the humor he chooses is terrible) to redirect his interactions toward more positive goals. He also, despite his abilities, remembers what it was like to be the tormented outcast, and he doesn't wany anyone else to suffer in that way--human or mutant.

Abilities

Durability:
Guido's durability--both physical toughness and stamina--has been enhanced by his mutation to the point that he can reliably engage in physical activity for a full twenty-four hours before suffering from fatigue. Further, he is effectively impervious to conventional arms fire, energy blasts, and even extreme temperatures (of several hundred degrees Fahrenheit positive and negative).

Energy Absorption:
Guido has the mutant power to absorb kinetic energy, which enhances his physical abilities. However, he must expend that energy quickly or risk harming himself--the stored energy causes intense agony as it further warps his body. Absorbed energy can allow Guido to increase his already superhuman strength and durability, although his body has a threshold that, like the speed with which he must expend that energy, can be exceeded and inflict considerable pain on him.

Strength:

Most of the time, Guido has the strength to lift roughly fifty tons before he strains and is fatigued from the effort. However, when he has absorbed kinetic energy, his physique is augmented to varying degrees. In the past, Guido's strength has enabled him to lift nearly one hundred tons very briefly before exhaustion.

Skills

Hand-To-Hand Combat:
Guido's had a long time to become practiced as a brawler. From his days enduring bully punishment to dishing it out himself to bar fights and beyond, Guido's mostly-improvised system of fighting incorporates a bit of boxing, krav maga, karate, and chaotic smashing.

Investigation:
In his most recent role as a would-be hero, Guido has become a private investigator, requiring him to gain some basic proficiency with a number of fundamental practices--trailing targets, being somewhat stealthy, and tracking down difficult-to-find information. While Guido's alright at these, he's not particularly expert in any of them.

Meditation:
As part of a long-term effort to manage his chronic pain, Guido has practiced and refined meditation and yoga. He's become proficient enough in it to temporarily dull the agony he otherwise feels non-stop. It helps him clear his thoughts, lose his anger, and maintain control over his actions.

Security:

Guido has extensive experience as a personal bodyguard, bouncer, and security specialist. Accordingly, he's very familiar with a wide variety of security systems and procedures that he can make use of, improvise upon, or disrupt, as necessary.

Resources

Music Industry:
Having spent a number of years as a bouncer and roadie for several rock stars, Guido has developed an extensive network of contacts in the music industry--not so much record label executives but rather other roadies, assistants, venue owners and managers, and the like. They may not be able to offer him extensive aid, but it's a network of associates who are likely to help their old pal/colleague nonetheless.

X-Factor Investigations:

As an employee of X-Factor Investigations, Guido has access to the company's equipment and (some of) its assets. Currently, this includes a van, recording/surveillance equipment, mobile communication gear, a couple of computers, and a first aid kit.

Weaknesses

Annoying Sense of Humor:
Because he's constantly in agony, Guido has developed a groan-worthy sense of humor that he uses to focus his efforts to communicate with others in a relatively productive manner. Unfortunately, almost no one appreciates this approach, and so (rather than let anyone else know about his chronic pain) Guido ends up being treated awkwardly or dismissively by everyone, since they don't want to deal with the humor any longer than they have to.

Constant Pain:
Due to the way his mutation emerged, Guido is in constant pain, as his body has been twisted, enlarged, and disproportionately developed. While he's attempted to tamp that pain down so that he can function in society, it nonetheless remains omnipresent in the back of his mind, influencing all of his actions and interactions.

Nearsightedness:
Guido is incredibly nearsighted and, as a result, needs to wear thick corrective lenses at all times or else is effectively blinded.

Physical Size:
Guido is both tall and incredibly broad-shouldered even as the lower half of his body is disproportionately small. Accordingly, the world just isn't scaled to his form--making everything from clothing to furniture to transportation to doorways inconvenient and frustrating, if not outright infuriating.

Weak Heart:

Guido has a weak heart, as a result of both his initial physical mutation and the way that his body absorbs and channels kinetic energy into strength. He tries not to over-absorb energy so that his heart isn't overwhelmed by the additional work it would have to do to deal with a (temporarily) further-mutated body--but his enemies are rarely concerned with such matters.
