Weights and Water
Date of Scene: 24 January 2020
Location: Gym and Training Room, Mansion Alpha
Synopsis: Darkhawk and Supergirl enjoy some late night exercise at Mansion Alpha
Cast of Characters: Darkhawk, Supergirl

Darkhawk has posed:
The mansion's gym and training room was usually quiet this time of night, and Chris had it all to himself, which meant he was playing Weird "Al" Yankovic over the room's built in sound system. The current song happened to be 'living with a hernia', a parody of James Brown's "Living in America" from Rocky IV.

Chris Powell was currently on the bench press, wearing Alpha Flight's uniform white shorts, with red stripes, the little AF logo on the corner, and a grey heather t-shirt, which also said 'Property of Alpha Flight' on it, something he could wear around here, but wouldn't dare use at home. He had an identity to protect, but deep in the bowels underneath the mansion, he could wear whatever he wanted. Hell, Booster Gold wore sponsored stuff, even down here.

There was even a collection of photos of him near one of the mirrors with his various sponsorship outfits. Everyone seemed to get a kick out of it, and no one knew who kept putting them there. As it turned out, it was Booster Gold himself.

Of course, while Chris used the human equipment, there were things for people who could lift a whole lot more than he could. Everything was state of the art.

Supergirl has posed:
Someone else was up at this time of night. Kara was just getting back from a patrol in Metropolis. She came downstairs wearing her costume and heading for the changing room. When she realized she wasn't alone, she actually paused and took a moment to focus on who might be up at this hour. "Chris?"

She walked over toward him, booted feet making a soft sound on the hard floor. She stopped in the spotter position, glancing down at him and tilting her head slightly to the side. "Wasn't expecting to see you here. Wasn't expecting to see anyone here, honestly."

Darkhawk has posed:
When not as Darkhawk, Chris didn't have any major sense of smell, sight, sound, touch, he was just a guy, a regular, ordinary, human in his late teens. He had the music playing. It was nearly over, with Weird 'Al" Yankovic and the backup singers singing, "Obstructed! Obstructed! Inguinal and Direct. Living with a hernia . . . Rupture! I said it's causin' me, such irritation. Living with a hernia. Have to have my medication. Living with a hernia. I feel bad!"

And then he saw Supergirl staring down at him, still in her uniform. It distracted him for a moment, but not enough that he lost control of the bar and the weights attached to it. He stared up at her, a twinkle in his eyes. He couldn't really carry on a conversation like this, so he did two more reps, and then set it down, not needing her to spot him, but appreciative. He wasn't lifting anything too heavy, so he was reasonably safe without the spotter. Plus the machine actually had a built in safety. It was top of the line.

Still lying on his back and looking up at her, he breathed out a sigh of relief of the weights off his hands, "it's great to see you. Just come in from patrol?" She was still in her costume. "Too bad working out in the suit doesn't do a thing for my fitness. I did a sweep of Queensland Park in Metropolis and the Glades tonight, still doing double duty. Figured I'd get in a workout for non-super me now. Want to join me?"

Supergirl has posed:
"I was going to go for a swim. Try to tire myself out so I can actually get to sleep tonight." Supergirl looked at the weights on the bench as she stepped around to be able to look at him more properly instead of upside-down. "Needless to say, working with weights doesn't really seem to do much for me." It would have to be a whole lot of weight to make a difference. Unless she were somehow turned human. Then it would help.

She'd rather it not come to that.

"I'm doing my best to spend time there. To give them a House of El representative at least publically. They seem to appreciate it, at least."

She glanced to the changing room then back to him. "What were you planned on doing next?"

Darkhawk has posed:
"Aren't there like artificial gravity weights or something. The ones with the digital thingy." Yes, he said thingy. "I don't really understand them, but the ones you can program." Sitting up, he wiped himself with the towel that was on the ground, suddenly conscious about how he might smell. Especially around her with her heightened senses.

"Though I could go for a swim. Just have to have a quick shower and change." The underground pool was next door to the gym. "I think they're confused by me. I keep getting called Batman, or Iron Man. I don't look anything like them. And one person thought I was Iceman. Iceman! Is there even an Iceman? And what part of dark metal suit screams ice to them?"

Getting up, he gave her a bit of a hip bump, smiling and trying to bring out one of hers, "race you to the pool?" And before she could answer, he was at a sprint towards the men's change room for a quick shower and change. Yeah, like he could beat Supergirl in a race. But that wasn't the point, was it?

Supergirl has posed:
"I think there is an Iceman. Or a Cold man. Wait, no. Something Cold. Captain. And a Mr. Freeze too. I've read about them in some files but never met them," Kara admits as she doesn't seem at all aware he might smell. He was working out. Sweat is not a bad thing when it is fresh. It's when it's been there a while with no shower it gets icky.

When he took off to the changing room, she couldn't help giggling softly and following. At a walk. Like it was no big deal. Of course, once in the womens' changing room, she put on the speed.

She took her own quick shower, changed into a one piece blue swimsuit and headed to the pool. Using her hearing, she was able to time it so she got there about two seconds after him. "Shoot. You win this time." The humor in her eyes shows she knows exactly what she did. She had a towel slung over her shoulder which she set aside to use when she got out of the water.

Darkhawk has posed:
Chris was quick at showering, like, seriously quick. At some point he had figured out that the quicker you shower, the quicker you get to do whatever it is you wanted to do, so he would start at the top and work his way down. He had it down to a science. But he was no Kryptonian. Afterwards, he changed into some... very colourful swimming trunks.

It looked to be a space scene, filled with stars. There was a large shark, probably a Great White Shark, which had its jaws open and a rainbow was coming out. And all while a humanoid cat, dressed like a cowboy, was riding the space shark.

Chris moved, not quite running, but quickly and carefully on the tile floor, until he got to the deep end where he could jump in, calling out, "geronimo!" which wasn't exactly politically correct, but it had stuck with him as he did a cannonball into the pool.

When he looked around, he saw her still up on the tile, towel slung over his shoulder. "Uh oh, I forgot my towel." He smiled up at her, "Wait, I won? Darn, I knew I should have made this a bet." He giggled himself and splashed some water towards her playfully, "Come join me, the water's fine."

Supergirl has posed:
"If it would've been a bet, I would've won," Kara pointed out helpfully. "Just a sec. Don't get my towel wet!" She added, turning quickly to keep his splash for hitting her dry towel. It needed to stay dry until she was done!

She set it on a nearby bench then walked away from the pool. A momentary burst of speed and she was back almost immediately with another towel. She set it by hers before moving to the side of the pool near the deep end. A quick dive and she was in the water, swimming a bit then surfacing while making sure her head was tilted back to keep her hair out of her face.

Darkhawk has posed:
He wasn't going after the towel, just her, and very much in the playful manner. He watched from his place in the water. It never ceased to amaze him how her abilities worked. And he loved these times, when she was free to be herself, not holding back, and just being Kara as she was inside, not as she was trying to present to the world. "Oh, I don't know if you would've won. I've been practicing. I shaved a whole two tenths off my 100 metres last week. And I have a secret weapon. Wait, I shouldn't have told you that. Drat, now you know. I mean, maybe I don't, or do I?" He swam a little closer to her, treading water.

Supergirl has posed:
"Hmm. I will have to work on my speed I guess then." Which was already scary so the idea of her working on it was ludicrous. Unless she wanted to go racing the Flash sometime. Not really high on her agenda.

As he moved closer, she continued to tread water where she was. "Maybe I'll have to spy on you to be certain whether you do or don't before I take any more challenges from you. Look through some walls." Now she sounded like a peeping tom. "Nevermind cause too weird. Seriously, have you been good?"

Darkhawk has posed:
"Yes, you will, I'm catching up to you Kara, just you wait and see, it's going to happen." He was in a good mood, though he was often in one when she was around and nobody was getting hurt, the world wasn't at stake, and he could just be a regular guy... with very odd taste in swimming trunks. "Oh, you're going to spy on me?" He said with mock horror. "Going to tape my phones and hack my computer? Wait, I only have one phone." And he tried to deflect the suggestion of being weird, or a peeping time. But at the serious question. "Oh, seriously. Well, seriously, I'm good, you know, as good as I can be. School's going well. Lots of flights and zetaports. Kind of wishing we had some kind of an Aeroplan Miles. I should have had enough to go to Turks and Caicos by now. What about you, Kara?"

Supergirl has posed:
"Better." Kara continued to just move around slightly as she kept her arms and feet in motion to keep herself afloat. "I went to the Fortress of Solitude. Where Kal-El used to go to spend time away from everything. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed and wanted to ask Kal for some advice."

She gave a little smile, knowing he possibly had visions of seances or the like in his head now. "I set up a program using all the information on file about him. So it would create a simulation of him. Which worked but something happened. I think he was there, by Rao's blessing or something. There were things that happened that couldn't be the simulation. And he told me he believed in me. Gave me a lot more confidence and hope. Still haven't found the ones that might have him unfortunately, but not for lack of looking."

Darkhawk has posed:
"Next time, if you want company, maybe I could come... in suit, or I could get a really good parka. What's that brand that has Antarctica as the logo? They seem pretty cool, er, warm, neat I guess." He was really fumbling with his words, trying to be helpful, supportive, and light, but how much was he succeeding was anyone's guess.

"Besides, four eyes are better than two. And I'd be really careful, not that I think I could break anything in there even if I tried. Like, take a tire iron, or a Mac-10, which is like one of the few gun names I've heard of. I wonder how much better the Mac-10 is over the Mac-9, and when will the Mac-11 come out, or does Mac-10 just roll off the tongue better?"

Supergirl has posed:
"That kind of defeats the purpose of it being solitude," Kara responds. "If it my place, I'd let you see it. But being his, and I'm sure we will find him and he will be okay, I feel like that might invade his privacy. I'm sorry."

Although his rambling about Macs has her shaking her head a bit. "I have no idea about any of those Macs other than McDonalds so not sure that's going to be helpful for you. For now, I need to get some laps in. But first."

She used her arm to send a splash of water his way. "That was for earlier!"

The water battle was on.
