Afternoon at the Museum
Date of Scene: 03 July 2020
Location: American Museum Nat. His.
Synopsis: Lar attempts to enjoy some time with Tasmia at the museum, but can't seem to avoid awkwardness.
Cast of Characters: Mon-El, Shadow Lass

Mon-El has posed:
For all of the stuff the Legion knows about Earth and its future--or potential future, there are quite a few things Lar actually doesn't know about its history. There's a lot of planets to keep track of, you know.

At the moment he is standing in front of the Theodore Roosevelt memorial at the American Museum of Natural History, reading a plaque with some biographical text.

Shadow Lass has posed:
Shady has accompanied him for this afternoon.

"Theodore Roosevelt. Who is he?" Her gaze takes in all the exhibits.

Mon-El has posed:
"Well from what I hear, he was a lot of things, including a very well-venerated former president of the United States, but this seems to focus on the fact that he was also a pretty active conservationist." Lar observes. He finishes reading the plaque before looking up at her.

Shadow Lass has posed:
"Interesting. And so he belongs here?" Shady looks over him, and frowns. "Were there many like him?"

Mon-El has posed:
Lar shrugs. "I guess so, at least according to whoever put this up. Depends on like him in what way I guess? I'm not the best person to answer that kind of question." he chuckles, starting to walk over toward a dinosaur exhibit.

Shadow Lass has posed:
"And then they have these. Dinosaurs. They are not on my planet." Shady gives a small smile, "Yours?"

Mon-El has posed:
"Every habitable planet has its wildlife. Though not exactly like these, no." Lar replies, chuckling. Then he sighs a bit, looking down at yet another informational plaque. He doesn't always like thinking about home. "Earth is a nice place, though. Certainly for me, anyway."

Shadow Lass has posed:
"Really?" Shady joins him at the next specimen. "I always presumed that most are still there. It's a bit different when you get information with your ancestors. To think, millions of years, and no people? And then, suddenly there they were."

Mon-El has posed:
"Wait, which planet are you talking about, yours or mine? Or this one?" Lar shrugs and looks up at the exhibit, which is a full-scale skeleton of a pleiosaurus, though it's not real. "So... What have you been up to all this time? Not that you have to talk about it." he shrugs. "Just curious, I guess. I assume Imra or Drake or someone has told you all about how I couldn't remember anyone for a while."

Shadow Lass has posed:
"Both?" Shady laughs, then goes silent. "It was on the infomercials on these fights I've been watching. All I've done is find out that, in fact, no humans were alive when the dinosaurs were on the earth." She shrugs. "My own planet's, if there was such a thing as dinosaurs, I am not familiar with them." She ducks her head, "I don't know about your planet of origins. At least, not that way. I wish I given more interest when I had that chance."

Mon-El has posed:
"You've been watching fights, huh?" Lar peers at her, then keeps walking, passing by a sign for the planetarium. "Yeah, that's what they say anyway." he says regarding the dinosaurs' era coming before humans. "But I don't think they can -really- say either way, if no one was there to record it or leave any evidence behind."

He shrugs again at the mention of his own home planet. "Nothing much to say about it, really." At least nothing very good.

Shadow Lass has posed:
"Really?" She shakes her head, "Sometimes I think that the past.. well, we do honour our ancestors. Perhaps I'll leave at that."

"Yes, you can thank Imra for that. Mixed martial arts. But, interesting enough, there are two kinds of them. I watched the legitimate ones first. They are.. polite? I don't know. But then, I discovered closed cage. Which I have to say are fascinating."

Mon-El has posed:
"Yeah, really." Lar mutters. She can probably tell it's some what of a sore spot for him.

He nods, not really having much to contribute to that bit of the discussion. Martial arts was something he didn't exactly take the time to master, given with his strength level, it didn't matter much.

Shadow Lass has posed:
"What? You look upset. How come?" She brought up her fighting, but didn't get his attention. "Something wrong? Or.." Or maybe.. "That girl. Would you be enjoying yourself if she were her?"

Mon-El has posed:
If Lar had been a little bit moody on being questioned about Daxam, this next subject seems to upset him even more. "What?! No!" he sputters, denying it fervently. "Why would you even think that? I was--" he shakes his head. "Sorry," he adds quickly, eager to move on from the topic. "I just don't have the greatest memories of my family growing up, that's all." he admits with a sigh.

Shadow Lass has posed:
Shady frowns, and then she sighs.

"Maybe it is a bad idea. I don't know. Maybe we once had.. I'm sorry. Perhaps this wasn't a good idea. I have some stuff to tend to on the ship." She smiles a fake smile. "Next time, perhaps."

Mon-El has posed:
Great, just great. Lar shakes his head internally. But outwardly he just nods. "No, nothing to be sorry about, you--you didn't do anything wrong. And sure, wouldn't want to keep you..."
