Boom Boom Boom BOOM
Date of Scene: 17 July 2020
Location: Lower East Side, Manhattan
Synopsis: The Punisher explodes a bunch of gangsters at an apartment complex, drawing the attention of bystanders and SHIELD. Misunderstandings are cleared up.
Cast of Characters: Joan Wright, Mockingbird, Punisher

Joan Wright has posed:
It is an early afternoon in the Lower East Side. Most folks in the area have left their homes to go pursue the almighty dollar in their respective fields. The traditional work lunch hour has finished up and most people are off the street and back to their respective work positions.

Most people. Joan had a later lunch than usual over at Katz's Deli and she had just exited the restaurant when the explosions went off. She is currently on her butt. Eyes wide and cookie still in hand as she tries to piece together what just happened.

The siren of car alarms and startled screams from the stragglers have filled the area as a nearby apartment building is now missing some wall around two specific apartments. A smoking body rests on the crumpled roof of a nearby car.

Mockingbird has posed:
SHIELD never stops working, apparently. Turns out Bobbi is sent to this one on her own, in tactical gear given the reports of an explosion. She's called ahead for the fire department and is in full 'oh crap trouble' gear, so she's in tactical suit, guns, and enough cameras and sensors to make half the news networks jealous. Shades, check. Various guns and gadgets? Yes.

Bobbi's working mindset is somebody blew up the building and is quite probably nearby, hence the guns, gadgets and tactical suit. That and she is SHIELD, too. Sorry, NYPD...

Way out of your league in terms of training and equipment and attitudes. Morse hops out of her SUV and makes doubly sure it's parked. Imagine Fury's....fury if Bobbi got her SHIELD issue SUV towed. Oh, that'd be her career right there....sorta.

Looking up at the building, Bobbi just surveys the damage and adjusts her shades a little, the orange ones packed with technology.

Punisher has posed:
With the controlled manner of the whole explosion, the PD's experts can easily determine that this wasn't some random act of destruction; someone turned two apartments into so much paste.... with just enough DNA left to identify around five bodies.

A couple blocks away, a pair of electronic binoculars watches the whole scene from a rooftop, the shotgun mic built into it plugged into the mans ear as he observes patiently.

Joan Wright has posed:
Joan's eyes look to the screaming people, head turning as she follows their gaze over to the car, and then up to the gaping hole in the late 19th century st-

"No no no no..." Scrambling to her feet she runs over, passing by the car without so much as a glance to the body on top but instead looking to the building as her hands are already pushing back her hair behid the ears. "No no no no..." NOT THE BUILDING!

Whoever is in charge of securing the entrance to the building is either not on point or hasn't arrived yet because Joan darts into the building.

Mockingbird has posed:
Morse is running after Joan, asking her to stop. See. She's /asking/ not demanding.

"Miss, it's not safe in there. It's not safe and you'll get hurt" Bobbi calls, only a step inside the door. Alright then. Morse really needs interns to order to guard the door, so where's New York's finest, exactly?

THey sure ain't guarding the door. Fine.

Bobbi will do it herself, but she's watching Joan before turning back to face the street.

"Stay back, let the first responders through" Bobbi shouts. "Anyone called 9-1-1?"

Yeah that'd be a good starting point...if they're not lost in the crowd?

Punisher has posed:
"Microchip, I'm seeing a lot of commotion down there. Any more targets here, or is that just a bunch of bystanders being panicky?" Punisher asks as he watches the scene. Taking a custom made meal bar and chewing off a chunk of it, he continues to observe.

"Frank, some SHIELD operatives just pulled up.. I have no idea why they're here, with all the active units around." Punisher frowned, "SHIELD doesn't have any assets around here we know of, right?" There's a brief pause as Microchip can be heard typing something, "No. Nothing. Then again, if they're undercover, why would they tell us? We aren't exactly on friendly terms after the Barnes incident." Punisher grunted in acknowledgment.

"I think I'm gonna have to go over there and have a chat. If SHIELD is involved, the truce still applies."

The binoculars are left on the roof for now, as he heads for oner side of the rooftop, before he takes out his grapnel gun and launches it against a pillar on another rooftop, starting to pull himself over to the 'scene of the crime'.

Joan Wright has posed:
NOT LISTENING. While what few people are running down the steps, Joan is running up the steps, skipping every other one of them as she heads to the flight associated to where she presumed the apartment to be based from the exterior damage. Upon reaching the top floor, she exits out into the hallway and immediately leans against the wall, using it for balance to catch her breath. HOOO. Stairs.

Mockingbird has posed:
She's got a Morse on her heels too, Bobbi's chasing Joan down. "You an engineer or something?" Bobbi asks cresting the stairs. If Joan's an engineer, alright then, Bobbi willl sit back and let Joan do her thing.

If not, wel....Bobbi can call in for more agents, and see where it goes. Looking down the corridor, Bobbi steps back onto the stairs. "If you're an engineer, I'll let you work but if you're not..." Bobbi adds and starts heading back to the door

Punisher has posed:
It doesn't take long for the Punisher to get to the rooftop; some people might have seen him traversing up there, but it was doubtful they got a good look.

Around the same time as Joan is running halfway up the building, the Punisher is on the rooftop, putting the grapnel gun back into his gear web as he grabs the Remington from his back and shoulders it; bean bag shells are loaded from a pouch into the tube magazine, and pumped into the barrel. Close quarters fights were always brutal, and he didn't want to get the police here hurt. Yet.

He had no intel on which of the units here were Foot corrupt, yet.

As he heads for the rooftop access, he slowly opens the door, beginning his breach and clear.

Joan Wright has posed:
Joan doesn't answer immediately as she's a little bit more winded than the trained SHIELD agent would be. "I know buildings." She answers, not EXACTLY answering the question because of the semantics involved and that the actual explanation would be way too long. She pushes off the wall, moving towards the first door of one of the affected apartments. Well, what was left of the door. "I just need to make sure that the damage isn't going to cause a domino effect."

She glances around the hallway, notably towards the areas where the walls meet the ceiling and the floor. "Hallway is alright though."

Mockingbird has posed:
Bobbi's satisfied with that explaining. If anything however she's, well, she's here and keeping an eye on things while trailing Joan and looks around again. Alright, just the roof to check. She could order a quinjet flight over and see what it turns up but....why do that when she's got herself here?

So after advising SHIELD of the situation, she heads up to the roof...fortunately, or not, she's got the cavalry on the way. Nope, Melinda didn't get let out of her office to help.

Try a bunch of field agents coming to see what's gone on.

Punisher has posed:
It doesn't take superhearing to be able to tell when the stairwell is being used. The Punisher backs away a bit to let the group go up without seeing him, ducking into a corner in case they head for the roof.

When they don't, he takes a device from his gear web, moves back down the stairwell, and places it against the door, putting the bud in his ear so he can hear the conversations locally.

Joan Wright has posed:
Being left alone, Joan relaxes a bit as she goes to the doorway. The crime scene perhaps but, right now more pressing matters. The door is damaged enough that a good push should be sufficient to move it. She clutches her hand closed, holding it to her chest as she turns, pausing for a moment as a thought comes to mind. "If anyone's in there, I'm just here to make sure the roof doesn't collapse." Warning given, she presses her shoulder against the door to push against the door.

Mockingbird has posed:
Bobbi's merely going up to the roof. If only to check it out, and..d assess any and all damage. To that end she's got her pistol out and is prepared, then instinct tells her to wait, and carefuloly, quietly, make her way back down the stairs however and get back to guarding the door. The last thing Bobbi needs is people breaking in and poking around, really...as she hears sirens. Okay then. Bobbi's no desire for a gunfight here, now. She looks up and down the stairs, then makes her way to the roof ready to shoulder the door open.

Punisher has posed:
Then, the Punisher hears Mockingbird start to head up the stairs, and moves to the door up. Placing a block on it, he hides behind the opened door so anyone coming up will have a clear route up... and never see him coming.

He holds his Remington at the ready as she comes into sight, and aims it for her back. A gravelly voice can be heard from behind, "Move, and things get unpleasant for you." Punisher grates out. "slowly remove your weapons, and kick them away. I see so much as a twitch to do anything else, and I put you into the gravel."

Mockingbird has posed:
Not likely. Bobbi doesn't move. "I don't understand you. You say don't move, then you tell me to move and that you'll shoot me if I move, so which is it?" Bobbi asks pointedly. "See, you're sending mixed messages there. Pick one or the other and make it easy on everyone. Either I stay still or I move, one or the other. You can't have both" Bobbi explains patiently like she's talking to a fifth grader who needs simple instructions...

And she's not moving either having seen the logical flaw in his argument and mouthed off to him about it. "You think of shooting and there'll be a city's worth of cops and agents on to you, so think carefully about your next move" Bobbi says, less snark, more compassion this time. Ah she's known for mind games, Mockingbird...

Joan Wright has posed:
Door creaking open, Joan gives a cautious glance inside the apartment. Oh there's an assortment of random bricks, dry wall, and other bits of debris in the apartment. Cautiously she steps in, taking care not to touch anything directly as her attention is first towards making sure she's alone and then checking for anything majorly wrong to the integrity of the building. Seeing an exposed beam with what typically be under it toppled to the floor, she frowns. "Well. That's not Good." She murmurs to herself. Hmm the roof area above might be a bit weakened.

Edging over towards the opening where the window once was, she glances out, and then back to the masonry around the floor. Well, it's not going to be pretty.

She sighs, looking to where the one wall separating the apartments used to be. Tucking her hair behind her ears, she lifts up a hand. Fingers curling inwards to make for a gun shape with the remaining extended fingers. The hand sways, pointer finger making a bit of a swirling motion to the air. Several of the bricks laying on the floor seem to lift slightly in anticipation.

Punisher has posed:
"Police and agents don't scare me. I gave you one order, then the other. Bein' a smartass ain't gonna save you from a shell to the back." The Punisher informs her. One foot kicks out the block that was keeping the door open. It slams shut loudly as he kicks at it.

Far too loud to be a natural swing, making it easily heard by Joan. "Drop the weapons with your right hand. Try bein' a smartass again, and I just put the shell in your head."

Mockingbird has posed:
Bobbi looks unimpresssed andd carefully moves her right hand just a little, inching toward her weapons. "WHat, you want a strip tease too?" she mouths off, "I take my weapons off, you'll want my suit off next. I know how you types think. Not happening" she adds, hoping to draw attention, or help, or something or other and she's being oh so compliant, just moving her right hand, nothing else save her mouth. He can't fault her for following his orders to the latter. Oh and asking Bobbi not to be a smartasss, that's like asking water not to be wet..

Joan Wright has posed:
Hearing the door slam, Joan's hand drops, causing for several bricks to drop on the floor together. Sending a louder thump back in response to Punisher's slam.

"HELLO? Is anyone there?", the archetect calls out as she steps forward, peering through the gap over to the other apartment to confirm that door is still technically closed. Where did that agent lady go?

Stepping back she looks to the gap in the wall and frowns. "Okay first thing's first. Keep this section of the roof from collapsing..."

Recovering, she fingerguns once again, calling the bricks back to attention. "AS YOU WERE!" She snaps, pointing to the wall authority, seemingly slinging a row of bricks into place before swiping right next with the other hand. Swipe left. Swipe right. Swipe Left. Row by row she flicks a hand, causing for a ... mostly present structure to pop in place. Not the full wall. No, some pieces were out of reach. But enough to be of use. As she slams in the last row, there's a bit of noticable thump to those standing on the roof nearby.

Punisher has posed:
"Look back at me. Your head. Your eyes. Don't move your body."

When Mockingbird look back, she'll be able to see a Remington 870 pointed at her from a few feet away. There's no way she could lunge for him from this distance, though she may be able to get her gun on him. He was already aiming though... and she can easily see the trenchcoat and skull vest of the Punisher... and those cold, deadly focused eyed on her.

"Pretty sure that every law enforcement agency in the world has a dossier on me. Tell me how much I want a strip show again. Please."

Mockingbird has posed:
Oh, he's quite literally asking? Alright...fine.

Bobbi doesn't move any, as she can't turn and look behind herself without moving. She does speakk mind.

"You hurt me, the truce is off. Turn around, walk away and I won't tell anyone what happened" Bobbi says...kind of a peace offering of sorts. An out, really.

Joan Wright has posed:
Looking to the mostly patched up wall, Joan gives a slight sigh of relief. With what was available, it will do for now. Although, the owners of the building will need to get that addressed sooner rather than later. With nothing else of dire necessity going on in the room, she cautiously makes her way out, mindful not to touch anything directly. Once safely in the hallway, she glances around, wondering where the other lady went.

Punisher has posed:
"You seem to be under the impression that I care if SHIELD comes after me over this incident. I have everyone else after me, what's one more to the list? That threat means nothing." Punisher shoots back, before he slowly begins to walk around Mockingbird so he's in front of her, that Remington aimed at her.

"All I've done is make sure you don't draw a weapon on me on instinct. Tell me why you're here. SHIELD doesn't bother with local matters unless one of their operations is affected usually. I have no intelligence on any SHIELD work in this area. If I did, I would have contacted you people." Punisher informs her, his eyes narrowing slightly. "I've got no interest in having a war with SHIELD, but I don't back down from anyone. Ever. You want to be the one who gets me after your operations? I guarantee you Fury won't like that."

Mockingbird has posed:
Bobbi doesn't move an inch. Rather she just speaks. "It's called paying attention to your surroundings and noticing what goes on. Does SHIELD need to have operations to send somebody to investigate a building blowing up?" she asks and still isn't moving an inch. Instead, Bobbi shakes her head finally moving. "Why do you assume SHIELD has operations then?" she asks simply

Punisher has posed:
The Remington remains where it is. "Noticing your surroundings is different from sending actual operatives to a scene. Local PD can handle explosions. You send agents when you have self-interest. I know enough about SHIELD to know your mandate is about keeping the peace, not dealing with local criminal matters. "Does SHIELD always send operatives for explosions?" Punisher asks.

Mockingbird has posed:
Bobbi smiles a little. "You'd be surprised on that one. SHIELD has reasons for doing things. You're under a truce, so....do you want to keep this truce and walk out of here, let me go so I can help people or?" Bobbi asks simply. "Are you going to stay here all day? Somebody is bound to notice you"

Punisher has posed:
The Punisher gives her a 'are you an idiot?' glare, "Being noticed is the point." As if he's explaining the obvious to a child.

Then, he just shakes his head, "I need to know what the fuck you're doin' here so I know if my operations need to be adjusted. You want me to get in SHIELDs way or turn one of your undercovers into paste because you refused to give a little cooperation? The whole point of a truce is to not fuck each other over."

Mockingbird has posed:
"You want to know what I'm doing here?" Bobbi asks. "Investigating this building. What, you want the cops and SHIELD to stay away. Maybe you should have sent them all donuts or something, ya and asked us nicely to not get in your way. You think I'm fucking you over? How so?

Bobbi's genuinely curious now. After all, she /is/ working on something but that's kind of not got Punisher in the loop. Mostly since it's actually, well, mundane every day SHIELD stuff, nothing too exciting.

Punisher has posed:
"I have no fuckin' clue why you think I'm tryin' to be friendly with anyone. Me and SHIELD have mutual respect and a promise to keep out of the way. All I need to know is if shit is goin' on from this explosion that involves SHIELD operations in any way, or are you just investigatin' because explosion?" Punisher asks, focusing the conversation to the now.

Mockingbird has posed:
"Second one. Things go boom, people get jumpy and send folks to take a look" Bobbi points out, "That's all there is to it. So" Bobbi says simply, "That's all there is, you believe me now or something then?"

The look Bobbi has is all business. She's looking to just get out of here and get back to the Triskelion and back to relative normality

Punisher has posed:
"Good." The Punisher states, before he starts to walk to one side of the rooftop. "Bein' a smartass is well and fine." Punisher grates, "Word of advice; bein' a smartass when someone has a fuckin' gun pointed at you is a good way to get shot." As he nears the edge, "Next time, you may not be so fortunate to have a relative ally behind the door."

That said, the Punisher jumps off the roof, out of sight.

Mockingbird has posed:
Bobbi should know this by now, true, but....she just turns and heads for the stairs. Oh this is going to be a lot of leaping through hoops to figure things out, report wise. See, she's not entirely happy with gymnastics as part of her reporting process. She's got a lot to explain, great. Good job, Bobbi. Good job
