Frank Castle is a man of few distinguishing features. His face is rugged and distinguished by lines beyond his age and the numerous faded scars that criss-cross his features. His build suggests a brick, squarish and solidly built, practical -- not aesthetic. Similarly, his dark hair is kept trimmed short into a crew cut; a callback to his Marine days.

He doesn't keep up with the trends or the fashions, his various outfits usually assortments of solid colored t-shirts and jeans... unless he's going to work, in which case it's all black or a camo pattern for the environment he's in... but always with the skull emblem on his chest.

Short, brutal, and tragic best describes the events of Frank Castle. Not much is known of his early life, but all records agree that he was one of the most decorated soldiers to ever pass through the US Marine Corps. He was hand-selected to participate in special training assignments with the Airborne School, Navy SEALS, and received cross-training with the Australian Special Air Service Regiment. Needless to say, when he finally asked to be reassigned as a Special Forces Trainer in New York to spend more time with his family, his request was met with grudging but unanimous support. He had earned the position, but many were sorry to see him leave active duty.

Until one fateful day, on a picnic in Central Park with his wife and two children, the Castles were involved in a drug deal gone wrong. In the crossfire, his wife Maria and his children Lisa and Francis were gunned down in front him. Frank was put under a fake DNR order by powerful people in an effort to keep him silent.

It didn't work.

Waking up, he left the hospital immediately, and began a One Man Crusade to find justice for a family failed by the DA of New York at the time. Briefly arrested and convicted of a list of crimes that stretched from New York to Los Angeles, Frank nonetheless escaped prison, delving deep into the underworld in the process to escape his pursuers. He's spent the time since then on his Crusade.

On that day, Frank Castle died. He doesn't seek revenge, or even hate. He wants justice for those the cancer in the Justice System has failed or wronged.

He wants Punishment.

Many would argue that Frank Castle doesn't actually possess a personality. They would insist that at this point he's simply rage and hatred personified. A mindless beast unwittingly unleashed upon the Underworld by the very people he's seeking to utterly wipe out.

Frank has a very different story. To be mindless would mean he's nothing more than a mass murderer who doesn't care about those he kills. He doesn't kill the innocent, no matter how obstructive they're being. He's ruthless, yes. Determined, yes. but a mindless lunatic? That he isn't.

Mercy is reserved for those who deserve it in his Code... and he doesn't regret any of his kills.

Thanks to a strictly regimented diet, regular workouts, and extensive training and practice, Frank manages to keep himself in peak physical condition. His strength, endurance, speed, agility, and reflexes all at peak human levels.

You can easily say he's at Batman's level, without the restraint.

Frank's not exactly an innovator. He's not interested in reinventing the wheel or developing new and exciting ways to kill criminals. However, he's trained himself to modify, repair, maintain and to an extent build his own firearms, weaponized vehicles, and other equipment as well as rig up explosives and other mechanical traps.

All in all, he's actually pretty skilled within the fields he's learned. His engineering knowledge is strictly limited to the practical and revolves almost exclusively around his war on the underworld.

With a natural grasp of traps and ambushes, and plenty of SpecForce training, Frank has a natural and amazing understanding of all kinds of explosive ordinance. From simple grenades to bombs that can nuke a city block, Frank knows how to use them, how to disarm them, and where to place them.

Grenades are a particular favorite of his, and he's very capable of using them to maximum effort, using physics to bounce them around corners and other trick throws.

Frank Castle is one of the most determined men on the planet, thanks to his inner focus and drive. Pain is an old friend to him from the sheer number of battles he's been in that even a SHIELD style interrogation would probably not break him.

This Iron Will also extends to telepathic interference. He's capable of shrugging off mind reading and weak possession attempts if he's at the top of his game... though omega level telepaths like Professor X can simply overpower him. He can make it extremely difficult to capture him mentally... but it can be done.

One of the deadliest firearm users on the planet, Frank Castle is an expert in every military grade weapon in the world; his time in SpecForce made sure of that. With the massive armory he holds, he's practically a walking army by himself... and he makes it a point to train himself to use anything new that comes out.

He'll never be the best at it; that title belongs to Deadshot, but is deadly accurate and ambidextrous.

The majority of Frank's training comes from a variety of special forces units scattered across several branches of the US military and some cross-training with the fighting forces of other nations. Therefore, his particular style of fighting his brutal, efficient, and deadly.

Since then, he's been mentored by some of the best in the world and self-taught more.

Frank prefers long range combat with firearms and explosives when at all possible, but he's an expert with using a Ka-Bar combat knife in CQC. He's also competent with escrima and improvising weapons out of his surroundings.

After years of serving in the military and participating in a multitude of training courses, Frank is well versed in a variety of different skills including but necessarily limited to:

Field Medic Training: He's not a doctor. He's not even a nurse. Still, he can patch a variety of violently inflicted wounds, set bones, and realign dislocated joints with enough skill to avoid infections and worse.

Airborne infiltration: A result of his time with the Airborne alongside his piloting skills, Castle is a trained skydiver and can perform a number of various infiltration techniques (HALO, LALO, etc.) capably.

Scuba: Thanks to his Navy SEALS training, Frank is a skilled diver with the ability to successfully perform scuba ops under cover of night.

Unsurprisingly, amongst Frank's many skills, he's also a trained and capable pilot. He's not going to rival any skilled fighter Aces, of course, but he's good enough to hold his own in a dogfight and is trained in both VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) aircraft and CTOL (conventional take-off and landing) aircraft.

Taught a solid foundation of stealth for recon and assassination in the Marine SpecForces, Frank has only gotten better.

He usually prefers brutal, overt firefights, but he's more than capable of infiltration and disguising himself for an operation if he needs to sneak through a fortress to get to a target.

You don't survive years of constant open warfare on the criminal element of New York and broader regions by being clumsy and predictable. Frank has an amazing, almost intuitive grasp of tactics, with ambushes and traps being a particular specialty of his. He's battled and defeated opponents who common sense would dictate in a head-on fight should've won.

Stronger, tougher, more durable opponents -- many of them metahumans and mutants -- have fallen to Frank's willingness to play dirty and his brutal efficiency when it comes to killing criminals.

Arguably one of the key skills that earned him the name Punisher, Frank has been trained extensively in the use of 'advanced interrogation' techniques which he largely uses in order to pry information out of low-level criminals who might give him leads on bigger fish.

He's not usually very concerned with the fate of his interrogation subjects either, so his sessions can get quite... brutal.

Sometimes, the torture is just meant to be a message. Sometimes, he's actually trying to gain information, and will let a target go if they're low enough in the chain.

Over many, many years of wet work, both in the military and without, Frank has built up his response time to near superhuman levels. A lot of that is natural talent, but some of it is just good old fashioned rote training.

With his reflexes he's been able to stand toe-to-toe with some of the deadliest and quickest martial artists on the planet, though he's never going to be quick enough to tag a speedster.

After years of hunting down criminals and repossessing their resources, acquiring a multitude of black market contacts, and raiding police stations and military convoys financed by a runaway budget, Frank Castle has put together one of, if not THE most impressive private collections of weaponry, armed and armored vehicles, and combat gear on the planet.

Some of the more outlandish devices and equipment he gathers are stored in a makeshift warehouse in the New York underground. He can reliably find most forms of black market gear here, from street level Uzi's, all the way up to modern XM25s and M242 Bushmasters.

A mobile command center and armory, this vehicle is designed more for being a mobile headquarters and small scale armory.

It's also lightly armored and has hidden weaponry in the form of machine guns and rocket launchers, though it's not a tank by any means.

Frank Castle gets around. His personality isn't what one would call endearing, but many of the people he maintains standing connections with aren't the type to care.

Usually, they're black market arms dealers he's likely just saving for last on his crusade, though he maintains tabs on all of them, watching to see if they sell to anyone off-limits.

He also has a handful of snitches seeded throughout New York, and an occasional government aide, small-time journalist, or beat cop who approves of what he's doing that feed him information.

Suffice to say, many will deny any direct connection to the Punisher, but he does get intelligence from people looking to right the failings of the Justice System.

Frank maintains a vast network of false identities, many merely quick forgeries that would crumble under serious scrutiny, but some with extensive documentation and recorded history to back them up.

He uses all these identities for a variety of purposes, though primarily for purchasing and renting goods and services through legitimate channels.

One of the best in grey hat hacking, Microchip is the master technologist and field support behind Franks operations. He's the one who does most of the technological and firearms maintenance behind the scenes so Frank can concentrate on what he does best.

Considered a genius in computer science, he can reliably go toe to toe on a network against highly skilled opponents, and is very capable of designing and customizing Frank's gear.

Frank has safehouses and shelters scattered all across the planet. The vast majority are centered on the East Coast, and even more so on New York, but he's usually got someplace he can retreat to when he needs it.

Aside from their armories and sometimes, their garages, each one tends to be equipped with a standard set of traps, weapons, and living space, with a built in self destruct ability should anyone but him or Micro find them. Some of these safehouses are practically just a bunker with no utilities... all the way up to down-scaled penthouses when he needs time to recover from a brutal fight.

Though Frank's taken a lot from criminals he's killed over the years to further fuel his war on crime, perhaps the most versatile resource thus obtained is their cold hard cash. Using it almost exclusively to finance his mission, he's actually built himself a sizable fortune. It won't rival any corporate bank account on Wallstreet, but it's more than enough to keep stocked with food, weapons, and equipment, including all those rent payments on his various safehouses. A good chunk is scattered across multiple accounts all belonging to several of his aliases and forged identities, but the vast majority of it is in physical cash stored across his many safehouses for when he needs it.

The Punisher has been tried and convicted of a ridiculous number of crimes before. He's a wanted man in multiple countries, and The Law considers him a lunatic mass murderer.

Frank's normal focus keeps him in the war... but press his buttons, and he's been known to laser in on you; his family is a big nerve, and if you're already an enemy, he's likely to try and kill you even harder.

Some superstitious criminals may not want to believe it, but Frank Castle is only human.

He doesn't have the benefit of bullet-proof skin or endless endurance. He's not super fast and like every other human, he needs sleep, food and water, and air in order to survive. A bullet to the head will kill him just as fast any other mortal, as will any one of a long list of injuries and ailments.

He also refuses to use most medication unless strictly as a last resort or he's dying. This leaves him at a distinct vulnerability against poisons and disease... and makes him more reliant on tactical thinking.

Whether you consider him a lunatic, or a hero, The Punisher is known internationally for his Crusade... though he tends to concentrate on countries in the Western World since that's where he gets most of his intelligence from.

The Punisher is a killer, a thief, and a variety of other assorted terms... but he doesn't take innocent lives.

If you're an innocent and get in his way, he won't kill you, even if you're being extremely disruptive to his plans. He has plenty of non-lethal methods of dealing with people just going about their lives legitimately, and uses them to great effect.

The Punisher often pushes himself to dangerous extremes to keep on top of the war. He's not stupid about it, but he does go above and beyond when the needs calls for it... and needs a ton of downtime as a result.

The Punisher is laser focused on his war against the underworld. It's rare he'll get involved with current events beyond the war, and when he does, it's usually because somethings gone horribly wrong, or there are innocent lives at stake.

There's no talking Frank out of his Crusade, and any attempts to persuade him to stop are ignored... or at worst, they get a bullet in the leg for their trouble.
