Catching Up and Training
Date of Scene: 09 October 2020
Location: Gym - X-Men Base
Synopsis: Sam and Shannon catch up over a little balance training, talking about recent events, future plans, and dinner.
Cast of Characters: Nightingale, Cannonball

Nightingale has posed:
While in Shannon's case there had been something of an emphasis on strength training, as she had come to the school with not much more of that behind her than the average teen, there were days when it was good to change things up a bit. The workouts had been paying off, but today, the winged teen seemed to be working more on balance and agility. She's dressed in bright blue leggings, a long white T-shirt with Tweety Bird as a hippie emblazoned on it--and, oddly enough, is barefoot.

At the moment, she's on one of the balance beams, quiet and focused, only keeping her arms--not her wings--out on either side of her for balance. She seems determined to not use her gift of flight or any of her powers, reminiscent of the parkour runs that Mr. Summers was famous (or infamous) for.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie comes walking past, and seeing Shannon in the gym, he will stop, and step into the room. He is quiet for now, watching her from the door, checking to see how she is doing.

Nightingale has posed:
Somehow, though, despite keeping her eyes straight ahead, Shannon still seemed to know she was no longer alone. Perhaps it was a shifting of some equipment nearby. Perhaps it was a footstep or two. And there was something familiar about the cadence as well. She pauses as she hears, or rather, almost feels Sam entering the room. "Hey there," she calls out, acknowledging the presence of someone else, but not betraying her immediate uncertainty about the identity. Perhaps another skill she's been picking up somewhere along the way?

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks like you have been working on your balance, a good thing." He till tell her. "How you doing?

Nightingale has posed:
The familiar voice brings a smile to the winged teen's face, and as she reaches the end of the balance beam, she hops down to the mat, landing in a half-crouch. "Better now. Just trying to get a little different bit of training in today." Heading on over to Sam, she gives him a big hug, wings and all. "It's been a little mixed since jazz night but I'm holding up. How've you been?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hugs and nods. He does raise a brow and says "That the night you, Alexis and the other were out and ran into trouble?" He will ask her, as he studies her reaction to him mentioning that.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, letting out a little bit of a sigh, her cheeks flushing lightly. "Yeah. I wasn't too happy with myself for bucking Alexis' order that day. Tried apologizing but I'm not sure if my timing was the best on that, either." She shrugs a little, leaning into the hug. "The end result turned out okay, but I sure could have handled the situation better."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks to her, and says "Your gonna have a hill to climb to get her back where she feels she can trust you out in the field to listen to her. It is not something that can be done quickly sadlly.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods slowly. "Not expecting it to be quick. Just hoped an apology would be a start." She leaves it to Sam to ask what happened or no, his choice. "It'll still be worth it."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks to her, and says "Remember when your out with the adults we are in charge. Alexis might not have been doing the hero thing long but she has some training, and she learned from living on the streets.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, taking the reminder in stride and, for the moment, silence. "I was ill-suited for going into a burning building with already anti-mutant residents inside. At least Alice and Tabitha had less obvious mutations. But I was in a position to help clear the way for emergency services to support them." Shaking her head, she ruffles her wings a bit, pressing her lips together in a thin line. "Regardless, I could still have handled the execution better, asking instead of telling."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmms and nods his head a bit to this and says "You should be glad it was not one of the senior staff." He tells her. "So what else have you been up to recently besides training and that?"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods in agreement. "I am, but still feel badly. Lucky it was that and not an even worse situation." Shannon smiles some and seems to relax a bit. "Been diving into my studies. Hitting it off fairly well with Tabitha. You want to talk about good things in small packages? Ha, she even managed to set me back on my heels a bit after the healing at Jazz Night. Been training with Mr. Proudstar as well. He's been fairly insistent about my learning to handle small blades properly. Not my favorite training, but I'm slowly making my peace with it." Smiling more, she reaches up to give Sam a noogie, chuckling. "What about you? Been keeping out of trouble?" There almost seemed to be something else, but the teen refrains from saying something--for the moment.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, a bit and says "Work and some plans yea. Getting some friends of the family back home to help watch it took a bit of my time. Thinking about a few other things but working it through in my head.

Nightingale has posed:
The mention of plans gets a mischievious little giggle from Shannon, and she nudges Sam in the ribs. "Would that happen to include bells in your future?" Ever the little sis, she couldn't resist a bit of teasing. Just a little bit. "Been working on Christmas presents for this year, too. Got one for you and Alexis just about finished. Got the Professor's finished up, too." She grins a bit wider, actually puffing up with a bit of pride. "Don't suppose you got wind of the recent basketball game?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and says "Perhaps, perhaps." He admits on the teasing and says "Heard a little but could not make it. You mean the one with the avengers right?

Nightingale has posed:
"Pardon my French then, big brother, but about effing time." Shannon just seems to squirm and squeal with pure glee at the very idea. "Just... still check in back here soemtimes, okay? There's times I really miss ya." Her grin widens still further, fit to swallow an X-wing fighter. "Ohhhh yeah. That's the game. Got to be in on that one."

She rolls her eyes, nearly facepalming, and laughs. "Don't get me wrong, got a whole lot of respect for the Avengers. But Mr. Stark is well... a genius, he is. A basketball star, he is not. Definitely give Thor points for enthusiasm. I got to face off against him on the court. He could be a bloody good player, once he gets the hang of the game. They had one guy on the team, though... not quite sure if he's actually an Avenger, but he sure gave us a hard time. But us X-folks still stomped them. I nailed a slam dunk, and holy crap, you should've seen Mr. LeBeau, and Mr. Summers. They. Kicked...." She pauses, grinning impishly. "...tailfeathers."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie chuckles a bit and says "Well, we are happy want to make sure she was ready for it before I asked. He reaches out ruffling her hair a bit and says "You think they did good in basketball, we should get a baseball game going soon.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods and grins, ruffling her wings some. "You realize I'm bound to redeem myself for that lost bet from last year, right? Who knows, maybe you'll be the one doing dishes this time."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie grins a bit and says "Yea, I don't see that happening, I think we will have you doing them for a few more years."

Nightingale has posed:
"Uh-huh. We'll see about that." Though her words were challenging, Shannon's voice was just one step shy of outright giggling, even as she pointed first to her eyes, then Sam's. "You'll be doing your fair share of dishes, big brother."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smirks and says "Well we shall see but how about we go grab some food

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon just smirks right back, reaching up to ruffle Sam's hair. "Sounds good. Gotta dirty the dishes before -you- can wash them." Laughing, she attempts to duck out of the way, heading for the doorway. "What do you think? Order a pizza, or go for the fried chicken? I could make either some mac 'n cheese or waffles if we go that way."
