Cast of Characters: Superman, Batman

Superman has posed:
It wasn't long after Clark's shift that he decides to send a text to a certain billionaire to meet him at 'the restaurant'. They really only go to one:

Its one of the oldest diners in the city, and perhaps one of the last of the old-fashioned family-style diners, the one where you can go to the bar and they remember your coffee. Clark had flown over, of course, in the red and blue, but has since changed into a classic reporter's outfit.

A fedorah covers his head, while a long brown coat that stops at the knees is being worn over a simple dress shirt and some suit slacks. Of course, his obnoxiously nerdy glasses adorn his face as he places his hat on the table and seems to be reading the menu, perhaps waiting for one Bruce Wayne to make an appearance.

Batman has posed:
Out front on the street across the diner, a beautiful silver and expensive Maserati MC20 rumbles to a stop. It's a rare car, limited edition and fully loaded. As the suicide door on the driver's side rises upwards, Bruce Wayne steps out, dressed in a powerful suit of crisp black with a matching tie of Italian fabric.

After giving his tie a quick tightening, he heads across the street and through the door as it gives a light jingle to announce his presence. By now, he is used to the stares and quiet murmurs of the other customers. He is a 'name' amongst names after all. A billionaire socialite who finds his way into a smaller diner from time to time because he happens to enjoy whatever pie is on special.

As he spies Clark, he makes his way to the table, sliding down across from him easily as he settles his dark gaze into his friend's. "Clark Kent." He says with a voice that has a hint of warmth for his friend. "Are you here to ask me for an exclusive interview about that woman I was seen last week escorting from the museum last week? I assure you, she is just a friend."

Superman has posed:
Of course, Clark heard that fancy car coming from literally a mile away. Ever since he did? A small smile came to his features as he looks at the waitress when she asks him what he'd like to order. "Just a few more moments, Ma'am. I'm waiting for a plus one." he smiles warmly to her when she agrees to leave him be and allow him to wait.

Of course, this is when the styling and profiling Bruce Wayne enters the building. His smile growing a little wider, Clark starts to rise from his feet, only for Bruce to easily slide into the booth, causing Clark to sit right back down.

"Bruce Wayne." Clark returns the same manner of familiar greeting for, what Clark genuinely believes is, his best friend. "Can't help it, Mr. Wayne. It was quite a scandal and mess when the paparazzi got a hold of it." he smirks. "But, how's work going for you? Wayne Enterprises still holding strong?"

Batman has posed:
"Work is going fine. I am looking at a new portfolio of investments in nano technology. They say that they are the future of technology and as usual, with that type of language, it tends to fall into the wrong hands. So, it has my curiosity." Bruce says as he flags the waitress down with a motion of his fingers. Once she arrives, he gives her a charming smile. "Hello, Susan. Good to see you again. The pie, please, and a glass of milk. I'll pick up the check."

He always takes the check. Every time.

"The woman was actually one of the artists and I happened to have purchased one of her paintings for my master study. I was simply walking her to the car as a courtesy to complete our transaction verbally away from the swarms of the crowd. I didn't even hold her arm. The media made a great deal out of nothing." There is a slight snort under his breath as he adjusts the cuffs of his coat, popping them free to roll them back up a bit so that he won't risk them finding any crumbs or debris.

"How about you? Any news?"

Superman has posed:
Listening carefully as Bruce explains the situation with his business, though the talk of nanotechnology makes him perk up a little bit. "Nanotechnology? Not a very in-depth field that people want to get involved in. Almost exclusively because it falls into the wrong hands." he chuckles a tad, before he looks to Susan. He seems agape at Bruce taking the check, before he just chuckles and requests the pie as well with a glass of water.

"You know Bruce, one of these days I'm gonna cover it." Clark always says that, without fail. Every. Single. Time. But since it hasn't happened yet, it can be assume that both of themare quite stubborn.

"But the pie they make here is legendary. Always reminds me of ma's cooking back home." back home being Smallville, of course. But he smirks as he talks about the woman. "I didn't have a doubt in my mind. I just like seeing you flustered for once." of course, Bruce is never -ever- flustered, but its fun to just say.

"Things are going well. Still managing to keep my job at the planet despite Perry seemingly disliking my most recent work. You'd think deeper stories would be more appreciated these days." he shrugs just a tad, even as he does the same motion with his shirt sleeves to roll them up so he didn't get food stains on them.

Batman has posed:
"I will let you start picking up the check the day you stop saving the world."

Bruce says as he folds his hands in front of him, steepling them, each movement practically liquid and easy. When it comes to Clark, he is a lot less rigid. A man he respects, even if they go about things a little bit differently than the other. Trust.

"I will also let you pick up the check the day you ever see me flustered in public." Once the pie arrives, he picks up a fork with his left hand and tucks in with a simple slice, swoop, and bite.

"You need me to make a call and talk to Perry? Let him know that I enjoyed your last piece? I have no problem giving him a bit of a squeeze if he thought he would lose you to the Gotham Gazette." There is a small twitch of his lips as he leans back into the booth. "How's Lois? I've caught her work here and there. Award worthy as always."

Superman has posed:
Clark can't help but allow a small smirk grow on his face at Bruce's comeback regarding the check. "Fair enough." He surrenders, before he looks at his meal as its laid down, giving a smile to Susan and looking ratherh appy with the pie she's put in front of him. "Thanks, Susan." The waitress gives Clark the same familiar nod that she always did, before going back to her work.

Meantime, his attention shifts back to Bruce, a small smile on his face. Granted, Clark has always been lighthearted and kind, and for Bruce to treat him that way is something that Clark will never intentionally take for granted.

That being said, he shakes his head in regards to Perry. "No, I don't think that's necessary. Unless you did actually enjoy my work, then I should be flattered." Clark laughs. "Besides, I thinkthe Gotham Gazette could use some good reporting." he winks at Bruce playfully, before Loisis brought up. "Well, she still likes me, so I think that's pretty good. Otherwise, she's the exact same: headstrong, bold, and can't be stopped from getting her story. I think she offered to cook for us, maybe to interrogate you about our longstanding history." he chuckles.

"How's Selina?" Of course, he has no clue if they're even a thing, only that she's been brought up from time to time.

Batman has posed:
"Selina, who?"

Bruce asks as he takes another bite of his pie, chewing thoughtfully as he shifts his jaw.

"I remember a Sapphire, barely. But that is only because I had to have her arrested for attempting to break into my home." He points his fork towards Clark. "Never make a promise that you will call someone back if you are trying to get rid of them. You never know these days. At least in Gotham."

His chin tilts upwards a bit in thought. "Think you can get in touch with .. " There is a shift of his eyes before his voice drops and he leans forward. "Supergirl for me? Thinking of getting the band back together and I feel she has put in the work. She did a lot for Metropolis while you were .. indisposed .."

Dead. You were dead, Clark.

"And I would like to speak with her, see where her head is at."

Superman has posed:
Clark manages to smile just a little bit as Bruce speaks of his love life, but he doesn't pay it too much mind. That is, until Bruce leans forward a bit like he always does when he has something to say about their...'other' job. Of course, as he speaks, Clark sets his silverware down and he clasps his hands in front of him.

He remembers Doomsday well.

He remembers that they literally killed each other...but what he remembers most? Doomsday was the one creature who actually did it. Doomsday killed Superman for the whole world to see. Granted, while his Kryptonian DNA and his cells were able to essentially resurrect him...there was no way to tell that in advance.

But, the world needs heroes. The world needs the Justice League.

"I know Kara is ready, but..." he takes a deep breath. "The world needs the team." he tells Bruce. "I always knew she could do it, that she could watch Metropolis in case anything happened to me, I just...she's young." So were they, relatively, when everything started.

Batman has posed:
"She is the best of us, despite her age, or Robin's, or NightWing, or any of them. They are the future and if we do not take them under our wing so to speak, they won't ever be truly ready for what this world will throw at them." As Bruce reaches into his inside coat pocket, he takes out his wallet and fishes out a pair of twenties on the table. Easily enough to cover the pie and to leave Susan an incredible tip. He likes her. She is sweet as the pies she delivers. A rare silver lining in this city.

"Get back to me in a couple of days once you speak to her." As he rises upwards, he reaches out to place a heavy hand on the top of Clark's shoulder, giving it a firm pat. "I am ready to change the world with you, old friend."

From there, he gives a nod of his head towards Susan from back behind the counter as he heads for the door and out into the night. He has to get dressed for his night job after all.
