Date of Scene: 07 April 2021
Location: Backyard, Avengers Mansion
Synopsis: Thor comes to the mansion and gets advice!
Cast of Characters: Thor, Captain America, Black Widow (Romanoff), Slipstream, Spider-Woman (Drew), Quicksilver

Thor has posed:
The trip into space and to the trade hub of Knowhere had been successful as the Avengers had returned victoriously with only a few narrow escapes. The good heroes had sojourned forth and returned through the Bifrost to New Asgard with their bounty at hand. A number of Asgardians were on hand to applaud their efforts as the Grand Artisans had taken the debris that had been gained and set to task, their efforts likely going to last well on into the future. Yet it had given the Avengers time to gather themselves, to depart, or if they so chose to stay in New Asgard and celebrate...
For after there is a successful quest, there is a fine celebration to be had.
Yet now it had been several days. Thor had become distracted with matters of state and lost in the efforts such things entail. Unable to pull free until finally, this very evening, he was able to gain some time on his own, away from his obligations and in so doing...
He chose to try and spend it amongst friends.
The alarms in the mansion likely gave those there a heads up before his arrival, of course. The aerial sensors catching the incoming approach offering full recognition when he arrived announcing on the speakers and data displays for those perhaps on security duty within. Then his landing was heard with a great crackle of a lightning strike landing hard in the back yard if only to herald the Thunderer's approach.

Captain America has posed:
While the others had been in space, Captain America had remained behind, holding down the fort, the sentinel of liberty standing on the ramparts of the home base and awaiting the return of the questing warriors. He's glad they're back, if only because it means he doesn't have to take quite so many shifts on watch. Even he wants to have a life now and again.

When the sensors alert him to Thor's arrival, he makes his way up towards the yard. The Thunderer's energy signature was familiar enough that the computers were able to identify h im as friend rather than foe. "Good to see you back in one piece, friend," Steve calls out on his arrival.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
Another person comes wandering out, shortly after. Since her return, Natasha had fallen back into the work routine between Avengers and SHIELD, though she had also made sure she got some personal time in there. It was a balance she was still working on perfecting since there were only so many hours in the day.

Today had been her Avengers day, on watch duty and to be available if needed. They were rotated around for all members of the team.

Hearing the thunder, she glanced up from the file she was reading. It was closed on the computer screen and she looked at the various alerts. As though she needed to see it was Thor after that sound? Once confirmed, she had trailed out as well.

Slipstream has posed:
Heading out into the backyard is Drake, dressed in casuals that are jeans, a t-shirt and a windbreaker. He was off in space as well with the crew and has got back into the swing of things earlier this week. He has a few scabbing over cuts along his face and neck, and along his hands that are in the process of healing over. "Hey, guys." He says as he looks over at the heavy hitters that have 'assembled'. He gives them a quick salute across the brow before he sinks down into a bench.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica Drew had been rather absent from both Avengers and SHIELD duty, up until recently, having had some covert long distance mission of her own to tend to for the past few months.

She is just enjoying a quiet, relaxing read on a lawnchair in the back yard when the god of thunder makes his spectacular arrival. And then suddenly more people are flooding into the yard.

With a sigh, Jessica shuts her book, deciding to pick it up another time and glances around, sizing the situation. "Well, clearly I missed a lot while I was gone.." she quips aloud to no one in particular.

Thor has posed:
Mjolnir spun in Thor's hand as he rose from that half-kneeling crouch that is ever the rage amongst those sufficiently durable to land from on high. He hooked it upon his hip smiling to himself as he lifted his one-eyed gaze up towards those ramparts to see a Captain Rogers looking down upon him.
The man in the red and black armor twisted a smile into place as he called out, voice robust and loud and genial, "Rogers, you scoundrel. So this is where you have been hiding! You were missed my friend!"
The way he says it and points up towards Steve it's clear he is both chiding the man, yet warmly so with such generous feelings hidden behind the half-smirk. "Come now, descend and take your place at my side, we have much to discuss. You and I and the others all."
With that said he makes his way toward the back door, and as he walks that armor slithers with a silvery fire that washes over it, blazing into life and blurring the material of the armor, leaving in its wake nothing more than white sneakers, blue jeans, a black t-shirt and a red hoody that is perhaps a touch tight on the man. That strapless eyepatch, however, remained untouched and in place.
As he pulls the door open leading into the kitchen area he pauses, aiming his smile in Drake's direction, "Winters, had a rough time of it it seems? And Drew, from whence did you come that you've returned so? I had thought you abandoned us." He holds the door in case either of them are inclined to precede him, then will move on into the kitchen but a moment later.

Captain America has posed:
Steve Rogers smiles, "I'm not sure I've been called a scoundrel recently. I tend to keep my nose pretty clean, although you are something of a bad influence on occasion," he says. He trots down and gives Thor a firm handshake at the greeting, then let's him lead the way more fully inwards towards the kitchen. To the others, he nods as well, "Glad to see the place starting to fill up again. I was beginning to feel a little lonely. Beware, Barton is down in the infirmary. Apparently he got into something of a property dispute with some foul sorts. I'm going to help him clean it up, though," he says.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
As the kitchen door is opened, Natasha was about to step out. Instead she was met by Thor and everyone else coming in. "Thor. Welcome back."

Her smile is genuine as she steps back out of the way to give anyone coming in access. "Guessing it's too soon to know if you found what you were looking for?"

Quicksilver has posed:
At least everyone returned in one piece. It was space! Anything could have gone wrong. And goodness knows that enough danger had been flirted with that things could have ended up trekking a few steps sideways. He arrived from somewhere in the garden in order to be here. Pietro lifts his right hand to pull his fingers through his white hair, standing somewhat near to where folks are gathered and yet somewhat apart at the same time. Since returning, he's been his fairly usual self -- poking about and gone before he's really noticed much. When once can move that fast, it's not hard to take advantage of it.

He glances towards Drake, and he raises an eyebrow slightly as he looks over the cuts and such that the younger man has, and he fidgets the toe of one of his shoes against the grass on the ground. "You missed going to space and beating up a few aliens on the way back. Oh, and bringing back important space junk," he comments, giving a glance and a wink at Thor. A tweak of the nose, if one will. It wasn't really space junk, it just looked that way, and hopefully one of the pieces will have what was being sought in it.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica Drew smirks a bit, nodding to Thor. "Welcome back, wherever it is that you came from..I was on a covert mission up in Siberia for a few months." she shrugs, "I would never think of abandonning you, any of you."

A curious brow is arched towards Pietro as he talks of space! and adventure! "Oh..? sounds like quite the adventure. But I'm glad to take a load off, if only for a little while.."

Slipstream has posed:
"I lept through a window to catch a guy from falling that was chucked out by some dude named Spawn who looked like a terribly drawn and budget version of Venom smashed together with Batman, except he dropped a lot of F bombs and I think he called me a cracker. He smelled like dogshit also. He was kinda terrifying. I probably shoulda let him hit the pavement, he /was/ trying to kill Tony after all .. and he was a weird creepy cultist guy. But, you know .. I'd probably have felt bad later if I didn't try." Drake says as he follows after them towards the kitchne.

"You invincible types are really lucky. Picking glass out of your face and arms really sucks. At least I didn't have to get stitches or anything. Just some bandaids." He trails off for a moment from his bit of rambling, shoving his hands into his pockets.

"Tony gave me a fistbump at least. That was kinda cool. We doing dinner?"

Thor has posed:
When Rogers is near enough he gets a heavy /thump/ upon the shoulder. "If you were around more often you would be less the scoundrel!" Thor declares so righteously, though his crooked smile might lend some insight into him not being... /entirely/ serious.
But once they're heading inside the kitchen he holds the door for others should the need be there and then strolls on further inside, "I trust he fares well? What passed that he is brought low?" Thor asks after Barton, eyebrow quirked with curiousity as he addresses Captain America.
Only then to be confronted with a Natasha, "Widow! Tis good you and Drake are here. If I started my tale without witnesses, Rogers would assuredly look dubiously upon it." He so maligns poor Cap for the simple crime of not having gone with them. For shame.
Backing into the room now he spreads his arms wide, then points at Pietro, "Ah and good, Pietro is here too and will convince the good Captain we speak the truth." Yet he nods to Natasha, "Aye, however, tis a bit early. The Artisans work their magic, though...I feel we were successful. Mjolnir recognizes those of its like, and I could feel some connection."
At that point, however, he's reached the refrigerator and yanks the door open, causing the cereal box on the top of it to fall over with the strength of the pull. For a small time he digs around inside the fridge, the sound of glass clinking is heard somewhat until he emerges with almost a full roast ham on a plate under a wrap of aluminum foil. Success.
At Drake's thoughts given voice, Thor follows along, sparing a glance aside now and again as he sets the ham down upon the countertop and takes off the foil. Eyebrows rise in repose to the tale of adventure and woe, then answers the question. "Aye, if you would join me? Perhaps we can make do."
That said he'll start digging around for a knife to carve the ham, "But indeed, we sought to gain some artifacts from where Asgard once was. It took some doing but we were successful. Tis why I am here, in fact, ostensibly. I wish to, of course, share time with friends. But I have questions to ask, advice to solicit."

Captain America has posed:
Steve Rogers smiles, "Making enemies left and right. Always been one of Clint's gifts. He'll get it straightened out. No need to drag you into it, that'd be like taking an aircraft carrier to a mugging," he chuckles. The thump on his shoulder can definitely be felt, but he doesn't show any discomfort at the impact.

"Can any of us even cook? I could never do much more than grilled cheese on the hotplate in my old Brooklyn apartment. Nothing that could ever match my mother's cooking," he sighs. "But I'll try anything you put in front of me."

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
Listening to the hum of conversations around her, Natasha just smiles a bit and stays quiet. She leans against a counter, crossing her arms over her stomach. A glance is given to each in turn as they mention what they have been doing, Jessic and Drake both getting an arched brow at their bits.

Quicksilver has posed:
Pietro turns his gaze to Jessica, and he raises an eyebrow slightly before giving a nod to her. "It was... interesting. Even if I did have to walk more than I would have preferred," he comments, a hint of a smile teasing his lips. He turns his gaze back to Drake, and one of his eyebrows quirks up as he slowly blinks at the explanation. Where to even start with that? "It looks like you survived it well enough," he ventures.

He gives a wry chuckle and then a shake of his head. "I'm not much the convincing type, y'know. But I can at least give my voice to confirm what's true and call you out on what's not," he says, quirking a grin. "Hopefully something will bear fruit from our efforts," he adds, raising an eyebrow slightly. And he takes a moment to look them over, each in turn, briefly. "Depends. What is there for making things of, besides the ham? I could make omelettes, with ham and cheese filling," he offers. Pietro being helpful? Has the world ended?

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica Drew just peers slowly at Drake for a few moments and sighs. Oh great, hyperactive motormouths. Yay. "Okay. Maybe I'm not sorry I missed that..Perhaps you should try some nice Cammomile tea to go with dinner?" maybe it'd calm him down some. Hopefully.

She follows the others inside, but keeps some distance, not a real social butterfly really and already Jess is feeling a little crowded as she lags behind them, but she is feeling a bit hungry all the same.

A polite but quiet nod is given the other Avengers, though mostly keeping to herself. Although Thor is given a curious arch of the brow. "Space artefacts.?"

Slipstream has posed:
"Yeah, totally survived .. even got milkshakes afterwards at Whataburger." Drake says as he rubs at his shoulder a bit as he follows the rest of the team into the ktichen. The prospect of ham causes him to perk up a bit. He slips down into a chair once they all get comfortable, easing himself back into a bit of a slouch. Out comes his phone and he taps along the glass a few times with his thumbs.

Thor has posed:
"We can apply heat to this ham, and..." He takes a fork and starts to hold the ham in place as he takes the knife to it, having obtained a plate for the slices he carves. "It'll serve perhaps for this impromptu fare."
The knife cuts clean and Thor murmurs, "Perhaps there are sides to be had. But this may do for casual discussion." His gaze sweeps to Pietro, "I am open to ideas, however if you are feeling... ambitious."
That said he smiles and looks to Cap and Jessica, taking a deep breath. "We were seeking the Shield of Bor, an artifact from my homeland. If 'tis true that we have gained it, then that opens other issues for the future. For it is the plans of our people to bring the artifact to orbit and make use of it as a satellite that shall aid the Bifrost."
Thor stops carving and holds up the knife, "However, I have been informed that many of Midgard's governments will look ill on our efforts into space. Ill on the Bifrost itself as well." He takes a deep breath, "So I turn to you, my friends. Given this task what path would you follow?"

Captain America has posed:
Steve Rogers smiles, "A shield, you say? Well, I admit, I'm rather partial to such things myself," he says. The question that Thor puts to them next, though, causes his brow to furrow.

"I understand the government's concerns about such things. They're concerned about security and they feel as if they have no control anymore. But that said, you have to determine the best course for you and your people for yourself. I don't think America and Asgard have different interests at heart. I think that our officials could be convinced of that and I'd be glad to lend whatever influence or voice I might possess towards achieving a detente."

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"Not sure if SHIELD can help in any way but willing to work that angle if possible. Not sure where the Bifrost is any more dangerous than things half the other nations have out there," Natasha says softly.

"I'll put out some feelings through my various contacts. Get a feel for things for you?"

Quicksilver has posed:
"Well... space artifacts that have accumulate space debris on top of them to the point that they're hunks of what appear to be space junk," Pietro comments, entirely unhelpfully. Then he gives a nod to Jessica, quirking a bit of a smile before he steps further into the kitchen. There's a quirk of one of his eyebrows as he looks over to Thor, and he snorts softly. "Sometimes, I do feel ambitious. If all are hungry and no one else willing to cook... well, you can take your chances with my cooking, which has managed to keep me mostly alive to this point," he comments, quirking a crooked sort of grin.

"It's probably because too many countries want to stick their fingers in the proverbial pie to reap rewards of it," Pietro comments, lifting one of his shoulders in a shrug. Then he looks to Steve, and he gives a shake of his head. "I would be significantly surprised if it was just America that wanted a say in the matter," he says.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica Drew arches a brow at Thor's attempt at 'dinner' and glides quietly towards the fridge, pulling out some left over pizza that she had bought on her recent return here. She pops it in the microwave for a few minutes to warm it up and sighs as she thinks, leaning against the counter a moment or two, arms loosedly folded across her chest.

"Natasha is right..SHIELD is probably a good starting point. So..What's wrong with the Bifrost? Is it broken..?" she's still not sure how a shield can aid a bridge and so she falls silent, waiting to hear more.

Once the bell rings though, Jess pulls it carefully out of the oven, laying it on the table for everyone to access it. "Here, try this." Of course there are maybe only just enough slices for everyone to have one each.

Slipstream has posed:
As he listens to them, Drake slips his phone back into his pocket after tapping out a text, then leans forward to fold his hands between his knees. He looks from the ham to the pizza for a moment, though he doesn't move towards either. He lifts a hand up and rubs the back of his neck, working his fingers through the back of his shaggy hair.

Thor has posed:
Turning back to the cabinets, Thor starts to gather plates and sets a half dozen down upon the tabletop, then proceeds to distribute slices of ham onto each. He nods as he listens to Cap and looks to the man sidelong with that one good eye of his, then grunts slightly. "It may come to that, my friend. I am hopeful we will not face too much resistance, but I have been wrong before."
When Widow speaks up he nods to her, "Perhaps if you think it feasible, they may be wise enough to know what the general reactions may be? Asgard does not have... quite as... robust a diplomatic corps as some nations." Which is a rather politic way of putting it.
Though once he's finished carving the roast he steps back and holds his hands up, as if ceding dominion to the cooking endeavour to Pietro entirely should he feel so inclined. Then he looks between him and Jessica, expression a touch reserved. "The Shield will aid the Bifrost to function here on Midgard. Though there are some in New Asgard that feel we should simply do as needs must, and let the consequences come to be handled afterward. Yet I cannot see the wisdom in this."

Captain America has posed:
Steve Rogers nods, "So long as you know we have your back, that's all that matters," he says. "I'm confident things will work out for the best. That tends to be the way of things, in the end. Which doesn't mean we don't have to fight to make them happen."

He speaks to Jessica as he takes a seat, "The Bifrost represents extradimensional access to our world, whether you call it Earth or Midgard. Given some of the less pleasant extraterrestrial interactions in the past, the government is wary. I don't think there's any doubt of Thor's character, but Thor isn't the only member of the Asgardian royal family, after all..."

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"But we already have the Alpha Flight space station that is there for extraterrestrial, so it's not like they haven't planned for it already. Justice League has their own place up in orbit. To me the benefits of having New Asgard as an ally with sugh resources would be a great thing. Course, I'm no politician."

Natasha does move to grab a plate with a piece of ham. Adding a piece of pizza on top of it. Certainly not gourmet but it works. She's had worse.

Quicksilver has posed:
There's a glance towards Jessice, and Pietro moves to stand out of the way, back at the counter and leaning against the counter. He crosses his arms in front of himself, and he fidgets the toes of one of his shoes against the floor a bit. Habit. He can't help it. Or at least, not easily. He lifts a hand, tussling his hair, then returns his hand in front of himself. His gaze turns to Steve, and he gives a nod. "He isn't, that's true," he says softly, frowning slightly. "Politicians have their own agendas beyond what is shared with the public," he says, a touch darkly.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica Drew hms and nods thoughtfully to the various commentary as she steps to the oven to fill the kettle and turn it on. Nothing like a cup of nice relaxing tea to cuddle up with. Even if pizza and ham isn't exactly a healthy four course meal. Oh well.

"Hm, they woudl be foolish to see Asgard as a potential threat..Aren't you some sort of ambassador as it is? If not, perhaps you should do what Wonder Woman does, give them a place to learn more about Asgard." she shrugs as she pours herself a cup of tea, pulling out a box of camomile teabags and steeping it in the boiling water, before grabbing a plate and loading it with pizza and a couple slices of ham.

With that done, she steps back towards the fringes of the crowd, nibbling a bit on her food and blowing on her tea as she waits for it to cool down. "At any rate, I should head in for the night. Good to see you all again." And with that, Jess slips away with food and drink in tow.

Thor has posed:
"Then, if I may," Thor says as he looks around himself to the others, gaze on Cap and Natasha in main for the moment. "If you would be so kind as to extend of yourselves as you can without risk of reprisal, find what you may and perhaps later we can speak again to the matter."
He pulls out a chair and takes a seat at one of the side seats there at the dining table. He rests his hands upon the tabletop and looks to the others, "I have much to consider. For now, however, let us break bread and enjoy each others' company. Come now." He uncurls a hand at Drake and Cap, "We can share the tale in full of what passed to try young Winters so, and perhaps Steven can tell us what befell poor Clinton."
At that he smiles as he pulls one of the plates of ham to himself and tears off a hunk of ham with his teeth, chewing mightily.
