For Love
Date of Scene: 28 August 2021
Location: Typhon System
Synopsis: Kara forges an unexpected alliance with Queen Rhea when Lar goes missing.
Cast of Characters: Mon-El, Supergirl

Mon-El has posed:
Should Kara take the shuttle Brainiac had prepared for her, it would indeed take her to the Typhon system, where she'd find a blue star and the planet Aite. And yes, it would appear the Daxamite fleet is there. Some of their ships are in orbit, while others have already landed planetside. It seems to be a pretty lush place, and doesn't seem to be populated by any other civilized races just yet.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers is keeping an eye out for Daxamites of course, and of course they're everywhere. This could be a very risky mission and of course she opted to wear something that blended in better with the local populace. That meant no Supergirl costume, but instead she wore a pale pink shirt and black pants in fabric and style similar to typical Daxamites culture. Her hair is pulled back into a ponytail, hidden beneath a hat to further hide her features.

She had plugged in coordinates to the particular area that had been reportedly under attack by those wild creatures and sets the shuttles sensors to scanning the area for a suitable landing area. Now it's just shut back and wait for the shuttle to do its work. This may be a crazy idea but if they need help, maybe she can make a difference..

Mon-El has posed:
The AI on the shuttle finds a clearing near the partly-constructed colony, and sets down there. It was probably a good move to try to blend in, and for the most part, people do not recognize her even though they'd all have the same enhanced senses she does. But they just aren't suspicious. Especially since most of them haven't really seen her up close and personal before even if they have heard of her. Though it remains to be seen whether the same would go for the queen.

As for the colony, there are crates strewn about, and people are busy trying to get shelters and defenses set up, although it doesn't look like they've been here for that long. They're still mostly busy unloading crates from ships, but it would appear they've at least got shields up by now to protect them from environmental hazards including the local fauna. The weather is beautiful, and it seems like an ideal place. But the Daxamites seem to be troubled about something...

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers lands and steps out, listening in on the chatter of the local Daxamites. Probably the best way to blend in is to join them and offer help rather than wander off on her own. While listening in on them for a bit, Kara slowly draws closer to a group that are unloading crates, "Hey there, need a hand?" she offers with a friendly smile.

Mon-El has posed:
"...but she's been inconsolable--hey." One of them looks up at her as she approaches and offers a hand. "Huh, haven't seen you around here before." The man says, looking a little suspicious. He doesn't look much older than herself. "You from a different ship?" he asks.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers nods "That's right, I just arrived here, a bit late but happy to help. I'm Kar--I..Karai." right, that's it. "So, how can I help? Looks like there's still a lot of unpacking to do." she smiles, trying to sound casual, trying to keep relaxed.

Mon-El has posed:
The two of them look at each other, a little bit weirded out. But the first guy looks back to her, chuckling. "You must have done -something- if your captain sent you away to help somewhere else." But the he sighs, the smile fading.

"Eh," he says, sitting down on an empty crate. "I don't know if doing any more unpacking is worth it, honestly. All the royal family seems to care about right now is tracking down the prince. He came by a few rotations ago to help fend off the local fauna. Surprised he even bothered, but he disappeared while he was out scouting the terrain. The queen thinks he's been kidnapped. With the radiation here I don't think any of the wildlife could have taken him that easily."

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers laughs slightly nervous, perhaps trying to laugh with them instead of being laughed at. "Well, you know..I've just started a couple of days ago and got kinda..Lost, til I found this place. I thought I was in the right place but I guess not. Even so, my shuttle is gonna need refueling. In the meantime, I may as well help out where I can.." Siigh. Why are Daxamites so paranoid? Oh well..

Her smile also fades when they talk about the Prince.."Wait a minute..How long ago was this? We're any search parties sent out?"

Mon-El has posed:
The man nods. "Of course, but they could find no trace of him. Some people think he just decided to take off without telling us, but that doesn't seem like him, even if he didn't always have the best relationship with his...er, family."

"Maybe you should try talking to the queen, huh? If anyone has details or updates on the situations, she does."

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers blinks slowly, really not liking the idea of talking to the queen, but hey, she's on,y met her what, once or twice? And if there is any chance of finding and rescuing Lar, she might be her only lead. Kara frowns, clearing her throat. "Hmm, I see..And where-might i find the Queen..?"

Mon-El has posed:
The man stands up and points over to one of the larger ships, parked in a clearing near the center of the settlement. "If she's planetside she'll probably be in there, it's one of the royal flagships." he tells her.

A pause. "You seem pretty concerned...you know Prince Lar personally?" he asks, out of curiosity.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers follows his hand, peering at the larger ship and sighs. Of course. Of course they'd be this close. Dammit.."Right, of course..Thank you.." she nods and starts to head in that direction, but pauses a moment, glancing at him with a shrug. "Yeah, you could say that..Hes an old friend of mine.." and then she's hurrying towards that ship.

Mon-El has posed:
The flagship is adorned with the royal family's emblem, and a walkway has been extended from the airlock, which is currently open. There is only a single guard standing in the doorway, probably because this is basically the middle of nowhere anyway. Of course there are always those who would try to steal. But before Kara can start worrying about trying to get past the guard, Queen Rhea actually emerges from the vessel herself. Although if one didn't know any better, she didn't look like royalty at the moment. Exhausted, haggard, and maybe as if she has been crying for hours.

She notices Kara approaching as she comes out. "Kara Zor-El." she says spitefully. Well there goes that plan. "What could possibly have brought you here, of all places, Kryptonian?" She demands, although her voice doesn't sound quite as full of fury as the last time she'd seen the woman. Instead, she just seems tired.

Supergirl has posed:
Well...She had hoped to slip, pats the guard with some lame story about inquiring about the Prince and offering her services as an old friend of the family..But that thought I'd thrown right out the window the moment she spots the Queen..Who recognizes her instantly. Well, so much for that idea.

With a soft sigh she drops to one knee, bowing her head, "Your Majesty..I come here in peace. I heard that your people were experiencing trouble in the form of large wild creatures that were attacking settlers. Furthermore, I heard that your son had gone missing. I apologize for trespassing..I wish only to offer my services to help you find him.l"

Mon-El has posed:
Rhea stares at Kara as she actually drops down to a knee, showing the respect usually shown to her by lower ranked citizens of Daxam. And not only that, offers her help. She narrows her eyes. "Hmph. What is the meaning of this? You want something, don't you? I know. You just want our blessing to marry him, don't you? I'm no fool." she folds her arms. Well, this definitely wasn't going to be easy.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers sighs, shaking her head, "No, your Majesty. I know you could never accept me as a Kryptonite. I come merely as a fellow person, seeking to offer you my aid towards someone I care about. Although honestly it's what I would do for anyone..Right now, his safety means more to me than any sort of ulterior motive. I've already resigned myself to the realization that you will never accept me because I am Kryptonian.." she rises slowly to her feet. "But at this point, do you really have many other options to save your son? Please, allow me to at least try.."

Mon-El has posed:
"..." Rhea listens to Kara, and tears begin to start in her eyes again. But she is loathe to show such weakness, and shakes it off, sighing. "For once, you are right. We have exhausted all our options in attempting to find him, and have found no leads. But Ms. Zor-El, weren't you acquainted with his friends...the so-called Legion? The ones who claim to be from the future? Perhaps they had some way of keeping track of him."

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers arches a brow, perhaps noticing the slightest trickle in the woman's eyes..She knows the feeling..The sadness over losing someone dear to you, or at least the fear. "Yes.lI am acquainted with the Legion..I can ask them for assistance in finding your son, but is there anything you can tell me about what led up to his sudden disappearance?"

Mon-El has posed:
Rhea sighs and nods. "He came here a few rotations ago after he'd heard about the problems we were having with the local wildlife. He had gone out to scout for additional resources and potential new colony sites, but never returned. We scoured the entire jungle, and sent probe drones all over ever habitable parts of the planet. But there's been nothing." Suddenly she looks desperate. "Please, Kara...if the Legion gave you access to their systems, perhaps you could find at least a lead..."

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers nods and frowns, "I understand, I will check in with the legion cruiser. If I find anything, you'll be the first to know." she looks around, considering, "Where was he last seen, somewhere near this area I presume?" hey it's a big planet. If this is where he was last scene, it'd definitely narrow things down. She had heard the locals say something about monsters in this area. She is also unsure if the prices already used will be any different than probes that the Legion might have, but Brainiac might be able to come up with something more accurate perhaps?

Mon-El has posed:
Rhea nods. "I'll send the coordinates of his last known location to your ship." she says, turning back toward her own vessel. "...thank you." Well, that was a first.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers nods, bowing once more before turning away, heading back towards the shuttle. thankfully there's a communication radio on the shuttle and she taps into the Legion cruiser from there, tapping in the coordinates, trying to scan the computer database for any information. She also taps into the Legion cruiser communicator, hopefully Brainiac is still there, or so ei e else, "Hello, Kara to Legion cruiser, It sounds like Lar went missing when he came to this planet..Tapping in last known coordinates. Anything you can tell me about this place that sensors didn't pick up already?"

Mon-El has posed:
As soon as Kara gets back to the shuttle, the coordinates Rhea was talking about have been received. It seems he was last pinged somewhere a few miles out from the settlement, near a set of hills where the tree cover thins a bit.

Brainiac does answer the comm. "Lar's missing? Grife." he mutters. It wouldn't be the first time. "Have you tried pinging his flight ring? I know that seems elementary, but the technology is beyond most civilizations in the present century." he tells her.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers hmms, studying the map, taking the little sensor device with her and downloading the coordinates and map on it so she can follow. "His ring? Ahh of course. Alright, I should be able to use this scanner to ping it.What frequency is it set to?" she searches the shuttle for a basic stunner device, although she should hopefully be able to rely on her own powers out here, but you never know. "Alright Brainiac, I'll keep you updated, can you back me up if I need assistance?" Once she has some basic devices and some food and a small first aid kit packed into her knapsack, Kara heads out of the ship, deciding to head for his last known coordinates once she plots out a course.

Mon-El has posed:
"You should be able to do it from the shuttle you're in." Brainiac tells her. "It should be connected to our network." If Kara would do so, she'd find that there is, indeed, a signal. According to the Legion's database, it is coming from Charon, a backwater system with a red dwarf star and three planets. Only one of them is likely to be habitable by anything intelligent--Terra Nova.

Venturing out to the last known coordinates, Kara would find some evidence of a struggle. Scuff marks, scorch marks, damaged vegetation--but no trail or other indication of where the whoever caused the marks had gone.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers investigates the last known coordinates and frowns some more, trying to get anymore readings with her scanner, "Well isn't that interesting..No wonder-their scanners couldn't find him. I don't think he's even on this planet anymore." she goes back to the shuttle, climbing in and thankful that it was fully fueled before she used it. "Charon system..Red star, so..Someone kidnapped him..Again, and dragged him to some other planet. But why?" oh except he obvious. He's a prince, maybe they did it fir ransoms? Or perhaps...We'll let's not think of the brood right now. "Brainiac, I'm headed to the Charon system..Looks like he was kidnapped and taken there.."

Mon-El has posed:
"Charon?" Brainiac echoes. "Well that's basically in the middle of nowhere. At least right now, anyway. By the 30th--never mind." he cuts himself off, deciding not to talk about a future that may never come to pass. "You should be careful--you'll be weakened there. But you probably already knew that. Are you sure you want to go in alone?"

Speaking of which, she'd get another ping on the comms, and it's Queen Rhea. "Kara, did you find anything?" she asks, sounding desperate again.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers frowns, "Middle of nowhere, great..Lar, you are trouble with a capital T. Brainiac, I dint have time to wait but if you can keep in contact I can call you for backup if needed?" as Rhea chimes in she nods, "He's in Charon system, heading there now.."

Mon-El has posed:
"If you get in over your head, let me know. I'll see if any Legionnaires can help out." Brainiac confirms. "Though it is pretty far out, might take them a while to get there."

"The Charon system? But..." A pause. "Wait....let me come with you."

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers arches a brow at Rhea. "Hmm? You know something? Umm..Alright then. I'm just outside, got a shuttle..Hope it's enough. It's a system with a red sun..should be ready for anything.."

Mon-El has posed:
"No, it's just that..." Rhea pauses. "I didn't know there was anyone living out there. And I know it's a red star system. Which is why you could use all the help you can get."

In a few moments, the queen would approach the Legion shuttle, and request to board.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers nods, "It's a bit strange isn't it..Perhaps there really is someone out there.." she nods, not sure where this venture will lead but she's more worried about saving Lar. She opens the door as Rhea approaches, not having yet taken off. it's not a huge shuttle but roomy enough. She is already plugging in coordinates and getting ready to take flight. "Your majesty. I hope this shuttle is fitting enough for your likeness..Ready to leave when you are."

Mon-El has posed:
Rhea climbs aboard. The shuttle is certainly no freighter, but it has more than enough space to fit a few people and also has a small cargo bay. She sits down in the cockpit next to Kara. This was about the last thing she ever expected to find herself doing, but she's decided she hasn't a choice. She's already exhausted all of our own resources in trying to find Lar, but all to no avail.

She straps in and sniffs a little, sighing. "You can drop the formalities, I'm not your queen, anyway." she mutters. "Let's just get going. The sooner we find him, the better."

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers nods, "Yes Ma'am.." and she has already typed in the coordinates, turned on the engines and once Rhea is strapped in, the shuttle will start to launch skywards. "Computer, how long until we reach our destination?" she asks aloud as she checks coordinates, fuel reserves, weapons and shields. It's a sturdy vehicle, hopefully it's enough.

Mon-El has posed:
The fuel reserves will be just enough to make the trip and then get the nearest fueling station afterward, even if it's a bit long. Certainly, Brainiac would have said as much if not. The onboard computer recites the ETA. It'll be several hours, even at FTL speed in a ship from a thousand years in the future.

As they reach the stars, Rhea stares out the window. She is quiet for a while, but at some point during the trip she asks Kara a question. "Do you ever think about what could have been done to save Krypton?"

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers nods, settling back in her seat. It's gonna be a long trip. And she'll be stuck with the one person who hates her the most. Greaaaaat. But at least they have something in common, that is, their love for Lar. Shes interrupted from her thoughts as Rhea speaks, "Hmm?" Kara arches a curious brow at her. "Of course I do, all the time." she sighs, "I honestly don't know what went wrong, but I know my father and uncle did everything in their power to try to stop it..I was still young at the time but I believe everything that could have been done was done.."

Mon-El has posed:
Rhea quirks a brow back at Kara at that. "And you have never questioned that?" she asks. Funny, Lar asked her that very same question before, didn't he? But she shakes her head, shrugging it off. "Never mind. It doesn't matter any more. Our homes are gone, and nothing can be done about it. I suppose it's no use losing oneself in past traumas."

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers sighs and nods, "I questioned it all the time. I always wondered if not more could have been done, if we did the right thing, if we waited too long..I wonder if it really was just an accident, unavoidable or no. But..Your people were not the only ones who suffered.lI lost my friends, my family, my entire planet.." well she doesn't have-to tell Rhea that she at least has some subjects, and she has her family. And now a new home.
But it's best to let bygones be bygones. "We should focus on trying to rescue Lar..Do you recall seeing anything unusual or suspicious in this new colony aside from the local flora and fauna?"

Mon-El has posed:
Rhea frowns. "No, there was nothing, other than the evidence of a struggle left behind at his last known location....which I assume you also observed. Whoever did this, they covered their tracks well." she she shakes her head.

The rest of the trip is relatively uneventful, but as they arrive in the Charon system, they can already begin to feel the red solar radiation sapping their strength away. Terra Nova is the third planet from the red dwarf star, a hot, arid terrestrial planet but at the same time the only one that is conceivably habitable by anything civilized.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers nods and frowns. "Indeed. How very strange.." surely there must have been some witnesses. But for now, she needs to conserve energy. Kara outs the shuttle in auto pilot and takes a quick nap as she waits for them to arrive at their destination. When they finally get near to their destination, she shivers, jerking awake and looking around, "Hmm, Terra Nova, that's our destination..Not a super large planet..The shuttle picked up on his ring and should lead us right to him..Computer, can you tell us anything about the inhabitants of this planet?"

Mon-El has posed:
"Terra Nova, Charon System, Sector 2911. First contact: United Planets Ambassador LaFong, 2875. Primary export: Sandstone, minerals. Primary import: Water, organic food rations. No further data available." Whoops, someone didn't update the database there. Rhea arches a brow at this. "These people truly are from the future, aren't they?" she remarks as the shuttle takes them planetside. At least on such a flat, desert-like landscape, finding a safe landing zone isn't difficult.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers frowns at the dates given, shaking her head, "Okay wait..Sooo this place isn't even inhabited til some nearly 800 years into the future?" she sighs, wondering if that's a good thing or bad. If it's deserted then what is Lar doing here and who brought him here? Well only one way to find out! She lands and grabs so,e essential supplies along with her tracker, still linked to Lar's ring to lead her onwards through the-barren desert..

Mon-El has posed:
"I don't know about not inhabited." Rhea says as they disembark. "First contact just means that was the first time the locals interacted with the larger galactic community. Sounds as if by then, there's some sort of galactic conglomerate. At least, in their future."

The signal would have them trekking through the hot desert, the red sun baking down mercilessly. It wasn't actually -that- far, but it still felt like an eternity, especially with their powers draining away quickly.

But finally, they are able to spot what looks like a city built over a large oasis. Not much technology there by the looks of it, which may explain why there's no data about the locals until over 800 years from now. Though, it is beautiful, aqueducts running along the tops of squarish-looking buildings that no doubt carry water to the city's residents, and tropical rooftop gardens. Also still plenty of natural places to enjoy.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers frowns and nods, "Right, of course. I meant there are likely natures living here. Then we should be careful, they may not have met aliens before." they continue on in silence for a while and Kara is glad she at least brought some water. Sometimes she relies too much in her powers, but late,y she's been working out a lot on the legion ship. When the6 reach the city, she pauses to take in the scenery. "Wow..Primitive but beautiful.." she glances at her tracker, wondering if they're close.

Mon-El has posed:
"Other than Lar, presumably...or perhaps whoever brought him here, as primitive as this city appears to be, I doubt the locals would have had the capability to pull off something like that." Rhea notes. She pulls out a small handheld device and hands it to Kara. "I found these on the shuttle, they appear to be a translator of some sort. I believe it will be useful."

The signal is coming from somewhere in the heart of the city, it seems. The place is guarded by stone walls, and at the gate is a pair of guards armed with spears. Rhea sighs. "I will distract them...you find a way in." Well, there does appear to be some kind of maintenance work or something going on nearby, some workers are standing on a wooden scaffolding that runs most of the way up the wall. If she has a little bit of her strength left, she might be able to jump the rest of the way.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers hmms, nodding in agreement. "So not a native then..But then why bring him here?" well maybe to hide him, or bring him to someone, or...She frowns, trying not to let her imagination wander too far. She nods and takes the translator, slipping away, pausing as they reach the walked off area and nods, "Be careful.." but there's no time to waste. As Rhea moves to distract them, Kara walks around the perimeter, searching for a possible way in..Spotting the scaffolding, she takes a running leap and tries to reach it..

Mon-El has posed:
Kara makes the jump, landing easily on one of the platforms, although she probably didn't need to since there are ladders. It's the gap between the platforms and the top of the wall she may need to jump. As she lands, a worker is startled. He appears to have been working on a mural of some kind, and the paint splatters as he startles at her arrival. "Ah! What did you do that for? There are ladders, you know! Who are you anyway? So many strange happenings around here lately..."

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers doesn't have time for ladders, enough time has passed already. She just shakes her head, reaching fir his bucket, "I'm sorry, but I'm in a hurry right now.." she pauses him no more mind, referring to her tracking device to see where to go next.

Mon-El has posed:
Once Kara makes her way over the wall, leaving the confused worker behind, she'd find herself in an open-air marketplace of some kind, which is what's on the immediate other side of the gate where the guards are. She can see that it looks like Rhea is getting arrested, or something, but one look from her and Kara can tell she would rather the Kryptonian find Lar first.

The signal is very close, now...

Suddenly, there is a shout and a bunch of music starts playing. Immediately, people rush away from the main road as someone shouts "Make way! Make way for her Majestic Eminence Glorith!" Some kind of magical carriage comes parading down the street, trimmed with gold and laden with silky cushions on a massive throne-like chair. A beautiful woman with white-blonde hair and clothed in a glittering lavender-colored gown is lounging there. And by her side, is Lar, clad in similarly fancy clothing. But something definitely doesn't look right about him. Glorith seems to be quite enjoying herself, but he just has this vacant look on his face.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers steps through the marketplace, looking this way and that, trying to figure out just what sort of a place this is. She notices Rhea getting arrested and nods slowly to her. She will have to rescue her later, after she's found Lar..But what is this? Her eyes narrow upon the carriage, focused on Lar and she gives a little gasp, stepping forward, trying to get a better glimpse of him. She wants to call out to him, but it would do no good to draw attention to herself, so she follows the trajectory of the carriage, making her way through the crowds as she tries to keep it in her field of vision.

Mon-El has posed:
The carriage starts to parade around the marketplace, those who happen to be out here bow down before the woman as it passes by them.

But a young girl, who looks to be about middle school aged, tries to sneak up behind it and swipe a fruit from a basket that sits atop the back of the throne-like chair. She's wearing rags and looks like a street urchin.

Immediately, there is a blur of motion and Lar is suddenly on top of her, having grabbed her by the wrist of the hand that had grabbed the food. It falls to the ground as she desperately tries to squirm away, but of course he is far too strong. The carriage stops and Glorith stands up, tsking and shaking her head. "You should have known better than to try stealing from -me-, little girl!" she laughs.
But the girl stops her flailing and glares up at Glorith. "You've brought nothing but suffering and corruption to this land!" she shouts defiantly.
The sorceress gasps, appalled. "You -dare-!" Then her gaze falls upon Kara, and she marches up to the Kryptonian. "You, tell me--what should my husband do to this insolent whelp, hm?" At this distance, Kara can see that the woman is wearing a talisman around her neck, the object glowing with magical energy.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers blinks slowly as a bunch of things happen all at the same time. That poor girl..And Lar, what's he doing? He must surely be under some sort of a spell..And suddenly the focus is on her, and Kara swallows, wondering if she somehow gave herself away..

Best to play this low key, keep her off-guard. She bows deeply, reverently to the woman, noting that amulet about her neck. "Your majesty. I doubt that my humble opinion would matter, but clearly she is a thief and thieves should be punished. I would imprison her and make a public display of her mistakes.." as she speaks, Kara makes a mental note of any surrounding guards, and then there's Lar. Best to get her alone and unguarded before making a quick move. "I am from out of town and know some especially cruel punishments that I would be happy to show you, if you would allow me.."

Mon-El has posed:
"Hm." Glorith considers this, or at least makes a show of doing so, then nods. "You have judged reasonably." Looking over to Lar, she instructs him: "Take her to the penitentiary below the palace, love." The Daxamite obeys immediately, dragging her off away from the marketplace. Kara might be able to note that Rhea is being taken in the same direction as well.

"Cruel, hm?" the sorceress replies to the offer. "I would much prefer something fitting than simply cruel, but yes, let's discuss further tonight, over dinner."

With that, Kara would be escorted to the palace, likely the most magnificent structure out of all the architecture in the city. A vaulted ceiling high overhead in the atrium is adorned with beautiful paintings, and expensive looking sculptures grace the hallways.

One of the servants would show Kara to one of the guest rooms on the 2nd floor. It's just as beautiful as the rest of the place, with a queen-sized bed covered with the most comfortable upholstery, spacious wardrobe full of all kinds of fancy outfits, vanity dresser with mirror, every comfort a girl could possibly ask for. "A maid will see to you soon." the escort tells her. "If you have any specific meal requests, you may tell her, and she will pass it on to the cooks."

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers wonders if she went too far, she doesn't want that poor girl to get hurt or even killed because of her, but..If she's being kept in the same place as Rhea, that will mean feee places to check later. Glancing back to Glorith, she arches a brow at her as she hesitates at the word cruel, but nods and smiles.

"Of course your majesty, I would be happy to help.." and then she's inside, in a guest room. Well this is interesting. "Hmm, thank you, I have no specific requests."

Mon-El has posed:
"Very well then." The servant nods and leaves, but before long, the maid he was talking about arrives with a tray of drinks and snacks. The woman can't be much older than Kara herself, with dark brown locks and deep green eyes. But, there is a desperate sadness about them. The tray is set on the vanity, and she bows respectfully. "Is there anything I can get you, ma'am?" she asks timidly. "Her Eminence's guests will want for nothing."

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers shakes her head, peering at the food. "Oh..Hmm, thanks for this. May I ask you something, Miss? Why do you seem so sad? Is not your majesty Glorith a good and just ruler?"

Mon-El has posed:
"..." The woman is a bit taken aback at Kara's question, and she just stares at her for a moment. Then, she shuffles over to the door and closes it before looking back to the Kryptonian. "No...the Empress is a cruel and harsh mistress, taking whatever she fancies from the people and punishing those who dare speak out against her. No one can remember what came before her, it is as if she were always here...but I do not believe it." she finally answers. "I don't believe her husband is truly married to her, either. At least not of his own accord. I tried speaking to him, once. But it was as if I were invisible. In fact, I don't think anyone has ever seen him speak to anyone."

Suddenly, she looks even more desperate, her eyes pleading. "Please, I know there is good in your heart. Honor in your eyes. The amulet she wears--you must take it and destroy it in the Shifting Sands of Nesquic. It is the only way."

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers blinks slowly at the woman, rather surprised..Not that this woman is evil of course, but that she doesn't have a spell over all her subjects. but if that's the case, what hold does she have over them. "I believe you and I'm here to help..I only made up those lies to get in here and rescue Lar..Tell me more about this amulet, I suspect it co trails Lar, probably has some power over most of her subjects too, hm? And what's this sands of nesquit?"

Mon-El has posed:
"The power she holds is fear." the maid tells her. "She and her supposed husband are powerful beyond our wildest imagination..." She shakes her head. "The Shifting Sands are a day's travel east of here. They are...unpredictable. Dangerous. They consume everything they touch, and one can never be sure where they will shift. I know it's a difficult task, but her guard will be down tonight--I am not sure if another opportunity will present itself."

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers nods, thinking. "Soo..This amulet makes people fear her, and what of the control she holds over Lar? I can assure you that he is just as much a pawn in her plans. The Lar I know is a kind and caring person..The man I saw today was a total stranger to me. he is not like that usually. And those prisoners, where did they take them?" so much information to remember fir later and she has to figure out her priorities. "A day's walk east of here, okay..How will I know when I find them?"

Mon-El has posed:
"I believe that destroying the amulet will release him from the spell." The young woman replies. "The fear is not artificial, it simply enforced by the examples she makes out of those who defy her." She shudders at this, thinking of some of the horrible things she's inflicted on people. Her brows go up when Kara talks about what Lar is really like. "I sincerely hope what you say is true. If it is, then he will be of great help in freeing us from her tyranny..."

"They are usually taken to the dungeons in the basement of the palace. There is a stairway behind the dining hall." she answers the question about the prisoners' location.

"You will know the Sands when you see them, I promise you...but I must go now, I have already lingered too long." She backs away, hurrying out the door before anyone can get suspicious of her.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers nods and smiles. "Thank you miss, you have been very helpful. And I will do my best to help liberate your people." phew this has suddenly become much bigger than she had intended. But for now she needs to conserve her strength, and hopefully dinner will be announced soon. For now, she lays back on the comfy bed and rests. It's been a long trip..

Mon-El has posed:
Kara would be left to her own devices for a couple of hours, though she is not free to roam every part of the palace. The stairs to the dungeon are behind locked doors, and there are a few other places that are barred to her entry. But just after dusk, she would be invited to dinner with Glorith in the dining hall.

A small table is already set for the two of them, rife with all kinds of delicacies. It's certainly more than her fill, and she could probably ask for even more if she wanted. Though the food is unfamiliar, it still looks delicious. When Glorith enters, now wearing a shorter, white dress with frills at the bottom and open shoulders up top, she isn't alone. Yes, Lar is with her, and he stands a few paces behind her, keeping watch over the proceedings to make sure no one tries anything. Well Kara certainly knows how sharp and fast he is. The amulet is still hanging around her neck, resting against the bare skin above that form-fitting dress.

"I don't think I ever got your name." the sorceress says, sitting down at the table.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers waits patiently, wandering the halls a bit if only to see if she can overhear some conversation, but mostly just keeping to herself.

When the dinner bell is ring and she is led to the table, she peers around the room, keeping an eye out for that hidden stair case.

Hmm, hadn't the servant said that she is at her weakest at dinner? perhaps sleepy after a nice meal.

Kara sits down and nods, "Mt name is Karai Zerav." she says, just in case dmg his woman knows of Kara Zor el. "You look wonderful tonight, your Majesty, and this I presume us your husband..?" she glances at Lar, wondering if he recognizes her.

Mon-El has posed:
The conversations she would hear line up with what the maid said earlier, they are all very frightened by Glorith and Lar, and some of them are even wondering if Lar is even alive or if he's actually just a construct or machine. By all accounts, he's never talked to anyone and the only people he pays mind to are the ones Glorith directly instructs him to.

Glorith smiles, although...it doesn't seem to actually be a happy smile. But she has everything she wants, right? "Thank you, and yes, he is..." There is a small, sad sigh at that, though. She says nothing more for a moment, instead starts into her meal.

Lar doesn't move even as Kara glances at him--it's no wonder some people are speculating that he isn't even alive. However, this time, when she locks eyes with him for just a moment, there is something--a glimmer of recognition, of desperation--though it is fleeting.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers keeps her mask of friendliness up though it drops ever so briefly as she gazes upon Lar then quickly looks away again. "I see..May I ask something, your Majesty? Are you happy? Is your husband..Well? He seems a bit..Ill. Pardon me for prying but I am concerned."

Mon-El has posed:
"I--of course I'm happy, it's beautiful here, isn't it?" Glorith answers, although she doesn't actually sound convinced of this fact herself. Another sigh at the question about her so-called husband, and she begins to fidget with her eating utensils a bit. "It's nothing, he's just...a very private, and very shy person..." She wrings her hands, and after a moment she tries to change the subject. "Karai, what wouldn't you do for love?" she asks.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers frowns a bit, eating in silence for several moments longer. She can feel her hands clenching into tight fists at the irony of all of this, and the anger and pain she feels in seeing her beloved bound my magical means, unable to express himself or move a muscle without her permission.

It takes her a moment to calm down, to collect herself, forcing a smile upon her features. "I think..One thing I would do for love is to set those I care about free. Love is about selflessness, of seeking happiness for those you love above your own personal desires. I would never dream of capturing or controlling the one I love in order to make myself happy. in fact I doubt that I would be happy if my beloved were miserable and in a cage or otherwise forced to be with me against his will."

Mon-El has posed:
Ohh, that stung. And it stung because it was true! Tears start to well up in Glorith's eyes, and she has neglected her meal now. "But haven't you ever been in love? Truly and desperately? Every waking moment, and even in your dreams? Only to be rejected?! Do you know how it feels?!" She really is a mess. "I didn't want to cage him, I -wanted- him to be himself! But I had no choice!" The other woman puts her face in her hands, beginning to sob. "I have everything I ever wanted now, but I'm still as miserable as ever..."

Finally she looks back up at Kara, her face stained with tears now. "...but he responded to you just now, didn't he? You aren't just some stranger...you're the one he loves, aren't you? You're Kara Zor-El."

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers sighs and shakes her head. "Yes, yes I have been in love, but I had to let him go fir the greater good. Because I know my being with him would only hurt him in the long run." she looks back at Lar with gentle, loving eyes, then looks away, fighting back her own tears.

"I doubt that's true, you always have choices. Maybe not the choices you hoped for but they were your choices nonetheless. How could you possibly be happy with someone who hates you, who has been turned into nothing more than your mindless puppet? This is not love and it's not making anybody happy. Perhaps one day if you freely give your love to someone rather than demand it against their will, you may one day have that love returned. But until then..Please let Lar go.."

Mon-El has posed:
Glorith stares sadly at Kara, tears still streaming down her face and her eyes red and puffy. Her makeup is a mess by now. She really is an emotional wreck. But her expression hardens, turning angry as her fists clench. "Wh-what? H-he doesn't hate me!" she cries out. "What choices? This, or a life of torment, forever longing after something I can never have? You have his love, you've always had it! You would never understand!"

The sorceress stands up, gripping the pendant in her fist. "No! I will never let go! If this is the closest I can get to living my dreams, then it will just have to suffice! I--" But suddenly she wavers, as if struck by sudden wave of lethargy. "I-I....I'll...never leave..." Stumbling, she abruptly collapses to the floor, unconscious. So, perhaps -that's- what the maid meant earlier when she'd said Glorith's guard would be down. Her hand falls away from the talisman, the amulet still dangling from her neck.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers frowns a bit as she watches Glorith's confused and violent emotions. "I'm sorry that you couldn't make him love you. But you could never be happy with him, you know.." she narrows her eyes upon her, eyeing that pendant, waiting her chance..

And then suddenly the woman is down on the ground, unconscious. Kara makes a show of rushing to her side to check on her. "Your Majesty, are you alright?" quietly she slips the pendant off her neck and over her own head, hiding it underneath her collar. "Hello, can someone help her to her room?" she glances around to see if any servants will come to her aid.

Mon-El has posed:
Indeed, two of her servants rush into the room. "Ah, Her Eminence! What happened?" They don't seem to be paying the pendant any mind. "I'll get a medic. We can take it from here." One of them tells Kara.

As soon as Kara touches the talisman and even puts it over her own neck, she can feel a strange warmth as it rests upon her skin. Then, there is an odd feeling--something she can't quite place. But it's almost as if she has suddenly inherited new powers. The magical energies within the amulet are now hers to command, if only she knew how.

Lar is still standing there, but his empty gaze is now fixed on her instead of Glorith.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers steps back, letting the servants fuss over Glorith. She turns to face Lar now, glancing over him, waving her hand over his face. "Lar, can you hear me? Are you alright now? You're free..You're no longer under her spell. Please say something?" How the heck does this pendant work anyway? she glances down at it, rubbing it between her fingers.

Mon-El has posed:
The soft glow of the amulet pulses slightly between her fingers, but doesn't go out. She can feel the energies thrumming inside of it. Lar watches her movements, and seems to be paying her his full attention. However, he doesn't say a word.

In the background, the two servants lift Glorith onto a stretcher and take her upstairs. Not long after that, the maid from earlier approaches her. "Kara Zor-El," she whispers, her tone urgent. "You must go now, before her loyalists become suspicious and try to detain you. The only way to end the spell is to destroy the talisman at the Shifting Sands."

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers blinks at the amulet, blinks at Lar. "Okay...Soo I guess the spell on you wont break til I break this then huh.." she sighs, well that's just great. "Okay, but you can follow basic commands, right? Let's get to the prisons below and get your mom and that girl out of jail. Who knows how much time they have left before they're fed to the lions or whatever."

she nods to the girl, "You said the prisons are just below right? Secret door should be around here somewhere right?" and she starts looking around..

Mon-El has posed:
"Yes, there is a trapdoor behind the kitchen." The maid replies with a nod, then looks toward Lar. "He knows where it is."

Sure enough, as soon as Kara had spoken those words, he is off to carry out her commands. It's as if he knew -exactly- what she had in mind. There is quite a commotion as he smashes right through the locked door and goes about freeing the ones specified, blowing past any guards who try to resist. Although in all honesty, when they see him on task, they know how strong he is. Most of them know better than to get in his way.

So it's not long before he comes back with the both of them in tow. The girl just stares at Kara, bewildered.
"Wh-what's going on? Why'd he only free us? What about the rest of them?"
Rhea just looks at Lar, and then looks at Kara. "What happened, Kara?" she asks.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers sighs, glancing at Lar, not quite expecting him to have carried out the task quite so swiftly. "Wow..That's..." she nods to Rhea. "Okay, here's the deal, I got the pendant back from Queen Glorith, it seems to be controlling Lar somehow. I'm sure Glorith's army will figure it out sooner or later. Soo.."

She sighs, trying to figure this out. "Lar, why dont you go and free the rest of the prisoners and meet us by the front gate. We need to drop this pendant in some shifting sands east of this city. But we may need some sorta backup if and when the locals suspect what's going on. And I dunno how to use this pendant thing."

She nods to Lar. "Once you free the prisoners meet us by the front gate, those who want can try and slow down any resistance, give us some time to get away and destroy this pendant."

To the little girl she smiles gently. "I'm sorry I used you like that. You are free to go. Stay safe. We'll liberate this city one way or the other."

Mon-El has posed:
"W-wait, not all--" The girl begins, but it's too late, Lar is already on it. Freeing -everyone- in the dungeons is going to take a little more time, even as fast as he is.

Rhea interjects, though. "But why not? It will be a welcome distraction, especially if there are some who have chosen to be loyal to this Glorith for reasons other than fear or manipulation."

Sure enough, there is yet more commotion coming from dungeons, as those who were both justly and unjustly imprisoned are suddenly free. Yep, the rioting has already begun.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers sighs, wondering if she made the right decision. It seems she has to be very specific when giving orders. However, they have other important things to consider. "Come on. Let's get out of here." and she hurries out of the palace while the guards are hopefully distracted by the commotion going on below. "Now, which way out of here, best to avoid the dungeons and the chaos there.."

Kara heads for the main stairway instead. Hopefully this palace isnt too huge, and she's mostly retracing her steps since coming here in the first place. She's not sure how much time they'll have before they're spotted but hopefully the commotion will buy them some time at least..

Mon-El has posed:
The chaos isn't just in the dungeons any more, it's all over the palace and the streets now! The prisoners have made it out and many of them going around wrecking things and looting things in general. So yes, the guards are definitely suitably distracted, and Kara and her crew would have no trouble slipping out unnoticed.

And by the time they reach the gate, Lar is already there, waiting for them. Just as she'd instructed. Rhea sighs. "She really did make him into her completely obedient slave, did she..."

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers says little to Rhea as she slips through the crowds, barely making it to the gates when they meet Lar rather easily. "Wow..Okay, that was really quick.." she slips out the gate, peering around. "Okay, I guess we just walk east until we see these shifting sands? I really wish we had some fast vehicle to get us there quicker.." it would be nice to know where they are even.

Mon-El has posed:
The girl from earlier stares at Kara. "The...Shifting Sands of Nesquic? You're going -there-?" she backs away. "I...should stay here. I have to find my friends. But if you really do want to go there," She points across the dunes, toward what looks like some kind of rock formation that can be seen in the distance. "Just go toward that." Then she hurries off and disappears into the chaotic streets.

"Hmph, if the ship you came in belongs to the Legion, can it not be summoned? Or do you not know how to use the technology?" Surely, Lar would know. But he doesn't even seem to be aware of the conversation happening right in front of him.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers nods to the girl, "Thank you. Stay safe now, it's gonna get pretty crazy out here soon." she glances at the others, "Follow me, the shuttle isn't far from here." if those sands are as dangerous as they say, it'll be dangerous to just walk into them. They might stand a better chance flying over it. And she hurries through the outskirts towards where she parked the shuttle, waiting for the others to follow as she fiddles on the control pad. "Let's see..Low altitude hover mode..?"

Mon-El has posed:
It's a good thing Brainiac had picked a craft that had a bit of a smarter VI built in, you know for people who just want to get from Point A to Point B without having too many piloting skills. So she wouldn't have too much trouble instructing it to fly lower to the ground, although there -are- safety limits. But on this mostly flat terrain, they aren't that high.

Rhea gets in, and Lar would if instructed to, otherwise he would just follow along himself as he has no trouble keeping up with the vehicle. Soon enough they are cruising over the dunes, due to reach the destination far more quickly than walking.

And sure enough, as the maid had said, it's pretty obvious once they arrive. The Shifting Sands of Nesquic appear to be a massive bed of quicksand, she can see the sediment twisting and writhing along as if it were alive. It's not fully clear where it begins and ends, as its boundaries seem to be constantly in flux. A spot that appeared to be flat often suddenly pulled away. No wonder the locals preferred to steer clear.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers is eager to get this over with as quickly as possible, and while it seems odd to have to order Lar around, she wants him close by and so she does indeed order him nicely into the shuttle craft. After that, it's just focusing intently on the controls, making sure they're not hovering too low for fear of getting sucked into the sand dunes themselves. Once they make it to the shifting sands, it's hard not to notice that this must be the place. Kara un straps her safety belt and winds down the window, pulling the necklace off, "Queen Rhea, can you take the controls? We need to get just a little closer for me to drop the necklace in.."

Mon-El has posed:
"Let's just get this done with quickly." Rhea says, nodding. She takes the controls, opening an airlock for Kara to throw the pendant out of. The Sands slither about below her, almost like a pit of snakes just waiting for someone to devour...

Just as she is about to drop the amulet down there, a burst of purple energy explodes out of the sky in front of her, and Glorith suddenly appears! But unlike before, she doesn't seem angry. Just desperate. "Kara, wait!" she calls out upon seeing the talisman dangling there. "Please don't do this. Don't take him away from me! I...I've worked so hard for all of this..I..." Tears are in her eyes again. "I can give you anything you want, and I promise I'll free him! If he still doesn't want me, then I'll accept it this time...Please, just give me the pendant..." she begs, her hand outstretched. But should Kara believe her?

Mon-El has posed:
"Kara Zor-El do -not- believe that witch!" Rhea calls from the cockpit. "I'm almost certain she's just trying to play to your weaknesses..."

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers braces herself against the door frame, biding her time until the ship is steady enough for her ti throw it, She draws back her arm to throw..Then pauses, hesitating as Glorith calls out to her. "Your majesty.." she frowns softly as she watches her, and can't help but feel some compassion towards her. She's about to lose someone whom she believes she 'loves' even if it's a twisted obsession more than love. And she seems truly broken over this. Even so..

"Your Majesty, I am truly sorry that you could not make him love you back.." her eyes narrow, clenching the pendant tightly, "But I can't let you enslave him against his will any longer!" and with that, she hurls the pendant into the shifting sands with all her might.

Mon-El has posed:
"NOOOO!" Glorith screams as the pendant falls. She tries desperately to use her magic to catch it, but she's not quite fast enough. The amulet falls, the small object quickly consumed and crushed by the quicksand. The glow is snuffed out. And sure enough as she had been told, Lar finally snaps out of it, although he seems a bit disoriented. "...wha...?"

And then the sorceress flies into a rage. "What have you done?! You've ruined everything! Everything I've worked so hard for!" she screeches. She raises her hands, and a bolt of magical energy blasts toward Kara. Fortunately, Rhea manages to close the airlock before it hits, causing the bolt to hit the ship's shields instead. Still, it packed quite a punch. "Shields at 12%." the onboard VI reports.

"Let's get out of here." Rhea says. Although, there is the issue of the chaos that Kara left behind in that oasis city, a situation Glorith could easily take advantage of if they simply left her alone, even if she doesn't have a Daxamite at her beck and call any more. And in her emotional state, perhaps she'd make things even worse for them.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers nods settling back in her seat, "Right, course has already been plotted into auto pilot to return to the mothership. Hit the pedal as fast and as hard as you can!" meanwhile, she looks fir any sort of offensive capabilities on the shuttle controls, "Lar, a little help here?"

Mon-El has posed:
There are guns, yes. But the focus seems to be getting out of here as quickly as possible. The ship takes a few more blasts from the angry sorceress, but once they hit the hyperdrive, there's no way she can catch up. Well, at least she's formidable enough herself to regain control of the situation back in her new 'kingdom'.

Lar stares at Kara. "What...what's happening...?" he mumbles, appearing to be completely lost. Rhea sighs. "It's possible whatever that witch did caused some damage. Let us hope it is not permanent..."

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers nods, giving Lar the once over before offering him a small smile. She stats to reach over to rest a reassuring hand on his arm, but hesitates with his mom hovering there, "Relax, it's okay..That evil woman tried to enslave you by brainwashing you and controlling your actions with that magical pendant..We just rescued you. Well get Brainiac to scan him over, make sure he's okay.." and with that in mind she opens the comm system, trying to contact the Legion cruiser, "Kara to Legion. Are you there, Brainiac? We recovered Lar and are returning to the ship. Plotting course for your location. Please prepare the medbay for Lar's arrival. I fear an enchanted necklace may have done a mind whammy on him.."

Mon-El has posed:
Rhea notices that hesitation, and finally sighs. "I will have to admit, Kara Zor-El, you are...not what I expected. You were just as willing as I was to put your own life on the line for him. You--you could have died back there. Perhaps there is, after all, -some- hope for the Kryptonian race." She sounds somewhat reluctant to say it, but it does seem genuine. Hey, it's a step, right?

Brainiac answers the comm and sighs. "Affirmative. Well it wouldn't be the first time." he remarks.

Lar still seems just as lost and confused. "An...evil woman?" he asks slowly. "Well, thank you?"

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers feels a small smile tug at her lips, "Thank you, your Majesty. You don't know how much that means to me..I guess...We do t make such a bad team afterall?" glancing at Lar, she does rest a reassuring hand on his shoulder, "To nw honest, I'm not exactly sure myself.. this queen Glorith seemed to be infatuated with you and was determined to forced you to love her one way or the other..I suppose she must have found you on that colony..But something tells me it was no coincidence..Do you know Glorith?"

Mon-El has posed:
Rhea nods as she takes the vessel in to one of the hangars of her own fleet back in orbit of Aite in the Typhon system. "Yes. Perhaps we should...get to know each other more. Under less...pressing circumstances." she says. And, is that a small smile? Just a little bit? "As for Lar, I trust you and the Legion know him best." With that, she takes her leave, returning to her people.

Lar listens to what Kara has to say, his brows going up. "Wow, that sounds...um..." He trails off, actually looking a bit embarrassed as he glances around nervously for a moment before looking back at her. "Anyway, I have a question." At least he doesn't seem to be dazed any more. "...what did you call me a little bit ago?"

Well as Brainiac said earlier, it wouldn't be the first time.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara Danvers nods to Rhea, feeling a warm feeling come over her. Maybe there is hope for her Afterall as well. "Yes. I think I would like that..Take care, your Majesty.." once she's gone, Kara turns to face Lar, arching a curious brow at him. "Oh, is she an old flame of yours then?" she seems more amused than jealous really..Until he asks he4 that and she blinks, "What did I call you? What do you mean, I always call you Lar..?"
