Cast of Characters: Black Canary, Starfire

Black Canary has posed:
"Shit!"

It's rare for Dinah to be unsettled in a fight, but that blast of ... whatever it was! ... had landed just too close.

"Give up!" the purple-clad woman Dinah had momentarily mistaken, to her detriment, for Koriand'r of Tamaran shouts. "You cannot escape me."

*I don't need to escape you. I need to evade you long enough for help to come in.*

Dinah kicked her bike's back end in front of her and, tires squealing, directed it down a narrow divide between two buildings of the factory. A tipped-over pile of boards gave her the opportunity she needed. Using them as an impromptu ramp, she gained air, flipping the bike over backward as the violent alien princess streaked into the alleyway after her, slowing to navigate the various pipes and machinery between the buildings.

The Cry built up in her escapes Canary's lips like a joyous song of chaos, destruction, and death. Not aiming at the alien queen. No, that had already proved largely ineffective but for disorientation. Aiming for the bases of the walls.

Dinah brought the bike to a rough, jolting landing, speeding away from the alley and trying to lose herself in the maze of the massive factory complex while the buildings fell down on the crazed Tamaran.

And all this because she'd mistaken the woman for Koriand'r, letting the Titan's name slip out of her mouth in surprise as she'd reached the end of the gauntlet of criminals to find ... whoever this was, running things at the end. Someone who was already ill-disposed to the one who'd set back whatever her plans were, but who'd turned absolutely lunatic with fury at the mention of Koriand'r's name.

*Come on! How long does it take to bring in the cavalry?! I can't evade her forever!*
Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r had been getting the last few rays of sun on top of the Titan's Tower, when the call had come in from a frantic-sounding Dinah asking for backup assistance against who from the rushed description she very much feared was her sister.

A woman who looked eerily like Kory, could fly, could hurl blasts of energy, and went berserk upon hearing the name Koriand'r. Yeah, that was Blackfire.

And so now a panicked and sleep-interrupted Starfire was screaming through the atmosphere towards the coordinates given by the computer's last known trace of Dinah's communicator. Her fiery contrails blazed brighter than they'd ever shone before. Many an stargazer would remark upon the unusual shooting star that evening.

Kory does not truly fear much, due to her invulnerability. Her sister finding Earth, finding her, returning her to slavery is one of her very few fears.

What her sister might do to her friends is another. As is the fear of losing Dinah, who she has come to greatly respect as both a trainer and a friend.

Koriand'r's powers are fueled by the sun, but they are boosted by her emotions. In her race to rescue Black Canary, Starfire hit her top speed in atmo of Mach 6... and kept going. Mach 7... 8... 9... 10. The location was almost a state away. At the speeds she was reaching in her terror it would take her less than 5 minutes... minus the initial delay as Kory was caught up on events, plus any time spent looking for the two.

She hoped she would be there in time. She hoped it very much, as tears fell from her eyes and it felt like her energy was screaming out of her pores as she pushed and pushed in a race to save her friend.
Black Canary has posed:
Dinah grits her teeth as she hears the alien blast her way out of her little building collapse attack. She kicks the bike over onto a ramp leading to a loading dock and then cuts the engine, letting inertia carry her (relatively) quietly into the area. Filled to the brim with vehicles in varying states of loaded and unloaded, she finds cover from overhead perusal ... and then swears.

That was the trap when she practiced against Koriand'r wasn't it?

The engine roars back to life and she instead starts careering around the halls and byways of the building, throwing her Cry in confusing directions to make her bike sound like it's in a dozen different places in the building at once.

Let the alien pick off her decoys first. Hopefully.

*Where is my backup!?* she thought to herself. *How long can it take to zap someone up to the Watchtower and back down!?*
Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r soars in like a vengeful fiery comet from heaven above the town, shedding speed at a fantastic rate as she approaches the coordinates, dropping down below the speed of sound so as to not destroy windows she flybys.

From far above her eyes can see the plume of debris from the collapsed buildings. From there she narrows in on the sight of a low flying angry woman dishing out punishment on... empty alleyways? It is definitely Kormand'r, but what is she doing?.... oh. Oh! She is being led around by the ear. Dinah is still alive amd confusing her pursuer. She should never have doubted.

It is at this point that the panic recedes and Kory realizes what a tactical mistake she made not using the teleporters and instead rushing off in a panicky flight. She's lucky her fear gave her a speed boost, or she could have been too late! She taps her communicator patch and routes it to call Dinah on stealth mode.

"Starfire to Black Canary. I am at your general location, hovering several thousand feet above Blackfire. She is blasting places I assume you are decoying her to. Where are you? Let us rotate the table on my sister. How should we proceed?"
