Warding the Box
Date of Scene: 13 January 2024
Location: The Magic Box, Sunnydale
Synopsis: Willow, with help from Harry, casts a ward over the scythe to prevent any more thieves from stealing it.
Cast of Characters: Faith Lehane, Harry Dresden, Willow Rosenberg

Faith Lehane has posed:
It's time to set up the magic ward on the restricted area of the magic box before the many critters who go bump in the night decide to strike again.

A plan was decided on and now it's just time for the magic types to show up and put that plan into action.

Faith isn't much of a magicy person so she's probably just here for the muscle or..Sonething. Either way she waits impatiently at the table on the main floor, feet up on the table, swigging a bottle is whiskey after hours and checking her watch every so often.
Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry is familiar with wards of course, but as indicated it is really Willow's strength. None the less he arrives and talking with her as they enter,"You want to make a ward or more something akin to 'nothing to see here' ward and illusion. As long as they remember where they left the thing." he asks.

He looks around the room and nods to the impatient slayer,"Faith." he offers by way of greeting as they draw near.
Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Willow giggles as they walk in the door. "You're worried. I can tell.. It's been some time since I warded something that way. Really putting physics to use - you will like that! Math you know."

Though, she shushes when they enter, finding Faith already here. "You really shouldn't, you know. Whiskey. It's still a store."

Mind you, she treated it like a bakery sometimes.

"Where is it?"
Faith Lehane has posed:
Faith Lehane grins and nods to the pair as they arrive. "Yo what took you so long? got tired of protecting this thing after hours." she takes another swig of the drink.

"So how we gonna do this and how long is it gonna take?"
Harry Dresden has posed:
Walking to the weapon, Harry nods and looks back to Willow,"Enough people have tried to take off with the thing already I want to see it locked down without someone having to sit on it constantly." He nods to what she says and agrees,"It sounds interesting from what you were saying earlier."

He looks at the weapon and then Faith again,"It takes as long as it takes. If everything goes well it shouldn't take long at all. If it goes sideways, we could be at it for a while."

Maybe a little relief to spat over the whiskey comment shows on his face and then he looks at the weapon,"So you and Buffy are the only ones that can use it, but anyone can grab it? One would think maybe there would be a spell on the weapon the way the Mjolnir was supposed to be enchanted."
Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Willow just shakes her head.

"It shouldn't take long, I hope. The item sounds like it should help us to ward it?" She looks to Harry for confirmation.

"Actually, they can't use the magic in it. I could. I mean they can use the magical properties, but not use it for magic. Does that make sense?"
Faith Lehane has posed:
Faith Lehane hmms. "Like she said, I dunno how to use magic but I guess it's more powerful in the hands of a slayer or more effective than in the hands of an ordinary person. in the hands of an experienced magic user, from what little I bothered to read and discussed with Sabrina, it can enhance a magic user's powers if used right. I suppose it could backfire on someone who doesn't know what they're doing."

She yawns and stretches, climbing to her feet. "Soo, we're gonna put on a ward to make it less appealing to people? why don't we put it back in the stone at the same time, make it so that the stone can't be removed from the floor this time too?"
Harry Dresden has posed:
"When it comes to blasting things into the next world I am there. For warding I am stepping out of the way and letting Willow do what she does better." Harry replies with a shrug,"We have talked about a few things, but at the end of the day it's down to making it all come together. She will weave the web and I'll reinforce the strands. I don't object to returning it to the stone or locking the stone down, but the more threads you weave into the spell, the more places there are to fray."
Willow Rosenberg has posed:
A frown was had by Willow. "If I am not mistaken, when it is in the stone, very few people can remove it. If we tried, essentially, an illusion over the stone, with giving most people a 'nothing is here' vibes, then the warding should only be noticeable by people who can actually see it regardless. Then most of the magic does not signal as 'look at me' with a scrying. I mean, the very powerful magic users will see through it. But most won't. Theory won't even see the blip on their scry."
Faith Lehane has posed:
Faith Lehane shrugs at all the magic lingo, waving a hand. "Sure whatever, I'm totally clueless as to what you magic geeks are goon' on about..But I'll just say that they just as easily hauled away scythe and all and could find a way to destroy the surrounding stone..Harder to do if it's locked down.."

She climbs the steps to where the scythe is being kept, currently in a locked chest on the back wall under books in the restricted section.

"So what do you want me to do, just guard the door while you do your mojo? let's get this over with already."
Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry nods to what Willow is suggesting,"If only a slayer could take it that would be useful." he comments,"If not, there still can't be too many that can remove it."

He looks to Faith and nods towards the door,"Just make sure nobody comes in and distracts the ritual or the casting for a while." he tells her,"Quiet makes to go smoother."
Willow Rosenberg has posed:
"Only a Slayer can take from the stone. Once out? Your guess is as good as mine." In other words, they might not be able to use it, but they could pick it up. "I mean, there's Buffy and Faith here. Other places? But why would they help the bad guys? And if they were stealing the stone, that's a whole different ball game."

Taking a look at the stone, she nods. "Faith will put it in there. And we can intermingle, or not, our magics. I do a ward with a siren that only we can hear, and.. I think we will be done? Yes?"

Willow looks between the two of them.
Faith Lehane has posed:
Faith Lehane nods, pulling out the scythe. "Sooo I just stuck it back in? I figured the spell was broken once I pulled it out, you might have to cast another spell to put it back in." but she will try to push it in if the rock is eternally enchanted or something.
Harry Dresden has posed:
"Intermingle the magics for another reason. If someone gets wise to your patterns, they still have to deal with mine and vice versa." Harry replies,"Have to get past two different powers will make it less likely. A siren is good, but maybe we should make sure it sounds at the office and The Blue Lady as well. I hate to over complicate it, but we aren't always near here."
Willow Rosenberg has posed:
"Exactly. Two forms of very different magics." Then Willow smirks. "I meant to alert the people wherever they are, not a place. It is entirely possible that the bad guys could escape with the stone and with the alarm going off here? It wouldn't help us. Throw in a homing beacon while we are at it. should be enough."

And if there weren't any more problems, Willow settles down to her magics.
Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry gets a duh look on his face and sighs,"Of course you meant that. Why wouldn't you mean that." he mutters mostly to himself,"The homing beacon is a good idea as well. Send the alarm to the three of us, Buffy, and Thomas. Maybe Michael Carpenter and Angel too. That would complicate a few things to do that. Maybe just the three of us, Buffy, and Thomas."
Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Willow thinks a minute. "Smaller core of people will be better. No need to stretch the magics any further than we have to."

As she bring her magic to bear she holds it for Harry's to intermingle until it is a smooth looking spell that if you didn't know about the two sources? It looks like one spell by one user.

Willow was proud of how she has wrought it.
Harry Dresden has posed:
"Agreed." he replies in the numbers theory.

When she sets the ward, Harry starts to mingle his own power with hers. They are getting better at that sort of thing. Once the two powers are woven together, he nods to her and the two of them draw the ward in tight and sets the power over to protect the weapons.

He looks at Willow and winks,"Ya done good lady. Couldn't have done anything like that without you." Maybe he's trying to boost her ego a little, but truth is truth.
Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Willow blushes faintly to Harry. "I have been thinking about what you have said."

She inhales, briefly, and turns to Faith. "You can use the scythe without turning the alarm on." D'uh. "Just don't go to the dark side."
Harry Dresden has posed:
A wink and Harry goes to the front to make sure things out there seem good. He opens his third eye, looking at the ward and the weapon. He doesn't look at Willow or Faith as that has nothing to do with what he is doing, just making sure everything is settled in place with the ward,"I made you think? Time to buy a Powerball ticket, get rich, and retire some place tropical."
