Cast of Characters: Insight, Greenjack

Insight has posed:
It's coming up on four o'clock on the appointed day when Georgie and Danny were supposed to enjoy a day at the beach. True to his word, Georgie finds himself making his way to the agreed upon spot. He's dressed in proper August beach attire, sporting a pair of black boxer trunks, a colorful button down shirt worn open, sunglasses, and sandals. Tucked under one arm is a towel and blanket to lay out and in the other a picnic basket. He pauses in the agreed upon area and looks around, hoping to spot the tall, green, and gorgeous young man he met the other night.

Greenjack has posed:
Said young man eventually appears, coming out of the sea. As it looks like, it seems as if he is coming from a long ways away. He finally makes it to the shore, the sun and water gleaming on his skin. A red speedo with yellow piping is all he's wearing as he approaches Georgie.

"There you are! Sorry," he says, brushing wet, sticky hair out of his eyes, "The sea looked so good I just couldn't resist. I left my stuff over there..." he points a little ways off, where a parasol has been stuck in the sand with a towel and what looks like discarded clothing next to a basket. "Shall we?"

Insight has posed:
Georgie takes a moment and is glad he has the sun glasses to hide his stare. He doesn't feel too bad for waiting as that's precisely who he is there to meet. He smiles back when Danny extols his small ode to the sea. He gives a nod, easily accepting it as something that 'had to be done'. He looks over to the parasol and starts his way over that way. "You don't have to be sorry. When nature calls, you listen or go mad." He flashes a smile over at the godling. "If I were a little early, I probably would have done the same thing." He sits his towel on the basket and spreads the blanket out under the parasol. That done, he asks, "We can go back in for a while if you want?"

Greenjack has posed:
"I wouldn't mind. Our things should be safe," Danny says. He puts his hands on his hips and turns his head slowly to encompass the beach area, breathing slowly. "My mother is a water nymph, you know. I carry her love of water in my blood, even if I'm more attuned to the land. But the sea is also full of plant life."

He leans in and playfully begins tugs on Georgie's button-up shirt. "You're a little over-dressed for a dip, though. The dress code is very relaxed, under the sea."

And he's gone and dropped an earworm. He turns around and starts heading back towards the shore at a leisurely pace.

Insight has posed:
Georgie laughs a little and says, "I'm from Gotham. I've already had two years worth of sunshine walking over here. I have to be careful lest I burst into flame or melt like the Wicked Witch." He kicks his sandals off and lets his shirt pool on his basket. He trots to catch up to Danny then, walking close enough to bump the other's shoulder. "Hmm. I don't know too much about nymphs," he confesses. "Thor's more where I centered my mythic readings and such. I've actually bet against him and won." He beams a little before shrugging. "I guess I'll have to check some more books out of the library now and get a proper foundation if we're going to...."

Georgie glances over, hesitant on what word to use. He's guessing he's a bit older than the godling, but, then again, he's a godling. Does age matter to immortals? Humans sometimes balk at a year's difference. "Hang out or date," he finally decides on. At the edge of the water, he does a bit of a prance, the Northern Atlantic not exactly known for being warm. A few breathes and he braces himself, running forward with a whoop. A little dive when he's up to his knees and he gets himself through the shock of the cool water. He surfaces and laughs, wiping some water out of his eyes.

Greenjack has posed:
"Dating? You mean to say I'm not a little too young and annoying for that?" The teen grins. He's standing next to where Georgie emerges. "And you've only seen me twice now. You're a man who plans ahead, I see."

Wait. Standing.

His feet are certainly standing on the water. But upon closer inspection, he is cheating. Far from a divine display, there seems to be something holding him up, something vegetable... but what it is is hard to see, as it quickly dissolves and lets Danny sink down into the water with a chuckle.

He drifts further out of shore with a lazy backstroke, facing Georgie as if leading him out.

"Most people run away from Gotham. Why are you one of the people running in?"

Insight has posed:
Georgie blushes a little bit when called on his word choice. He gives a shrug and says, "Young? No idea. I've never really met a godling before. Not annoying at all though." He laughs again and shakes his head at the display of plant control. "Walking on water? Usually people wait until the third date for that?" He grins and sidestrokes along to keep in conversational distance. "Not planning ahead so much as willing to trust in fate just a little, I guess."

The question about Gotham makes him a bit more serious and he doesn't answer for a few strokes. "It's my home, I guess. I mean, I had a job in Boston and it was great. I did pretty good work and all." He grimaces and says, "But if anywhere needs some TLC, it's Gotham." He has the bruised rib and arm to show for it too. "So I came home, I guess."

Greenjack has posed:
"The correct term is demigod. Only godlings can call other godlings godlings." Danny says with all seriousness as he swims closer to Georgie. And then he grins. "Just joshing with you. We don't really age that differently from humans, but we do tend to live longer."

He splashes a bit and then lays on his back, floating and enjoying the water as he listens to Georgie.

"A natural caregiver, of course. What happened there?" He is, of course, referring to the bruise. It was hard to ignore it, considering it was still visible.

Insight has posed:
Georgie almost looks horrified, but then Danny admits to joking with him. He blushes, a fairly good trick in the ocean water, and grins back. He nods as Godling 101 is given on their aging. "Cool," is his suave commentary on it.

When he flips to his back, the blush grows. Georgie is fairly certain he might notice the stare, but he can't quite draw on enough will to not get an eyeful. He hears a voice too. He's sure it's Danny's, but the words, well, it takes those a moment to translate. It takes until he tears his eyes away and he finds Danny's eyes and then he says a little too fast, "Oh, this? Nothingreally. Umm. Bat jumped right out at me." He rubs the back of his neck. "I guess it's this time of year that the Old Hickory species does their migration." He grins wide. If Danny didn't read about it in the paper or see it on the news, he's more than willing to pretend it's not a big deal. The clip of him on the Joker and pummeling him had it's two or three news cycles and he's way done with it.

Greenjack has posed:
The green teen smirks. "I guess we all have our secrets," He says, swimming closer to Georgie, floating on his back. "I should come and see your office sometimes. I've never been to therapy... the greek gods didn't really believe in therapy so much as getting things off their chest by making things miserable for someone else. Catharsis, they called it."

He straightens up, swimming a few inches away from Georgie and smiling. "Or was that Catastrophe?"

Insight has posed:
Georgie slides to his back lest he get totally distracted. He does consider what Danny has to say, so says, "Ehh. It isn't much of a secret. I got mixed up with that prison break in Gotham a couple weeks ago. I... umm... got froggy and jumped at the Joker, so Harley Quinn hit me with a bat." Honesty and communication. Right now Georgie sort of hates all of his classes in relationships he had to take.

Georgie paddles out a little further and laughs. "From what I remember, their catharsis was catastrophe." He gives a cheesey grin. "But then it's all just Greek to me." He gazes over at Danny for a moment and then asks, "So. Umm. What classes are you taking this fall? Focusing on just some botany and general education stuff?"

Greenjack has posed:
"Doctor Goodspeed, I thought part of your training didn't include tackling with supervillains *outside* of a mental institution?" The demi-god grins and reaches out to touch Georgie's side with a finger.

"I'm just getting my general ed courses out of the way first. It'll give me some time to decide what it is I'm going to do."

He brings his feet under him, so that now he is upright and floating, paddling close to Georgie instead of being on his back.

Insight has posed:
There's a short bark of laughter from the doctor as he gets his feet under himself and treads water. "Well, in my defense, we -were- on the roof of Arkham. So technically...." He laughs and blushes. Then he confides, "I also do some mixed martial arts too. I... well... I grew up in Gotham and Robin was -bound- to whisk me away at any time."

He listens to Daniel's plan for the semester and he nods. "That sounds good. General ed is pretty good for showing some stuff you wouldn't think you might like otherwise." He floats a little closer, not nearly as adept in the water as the godling. He almost looks horrified as he realizes he can't quite stop and is close to bumping chest to chest with Danny. "Ack! I suck at swimming!" As graceful as he was on the dancefloor, this is totally not his element.

Greenjack has posed:
Danny wraps a strong, green arm around the doctor's waist and hold him steady in the water, giving him an amused smile. "I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're telling the truth and not using it as an excuse."

He seems comfortable enough with the proximity.

"Take a deep breath," he says suddenly. He doesn't give him time than a quick breath. And then he pulls the doctor under the water.

The young man swims furiously fast, diving lower and lower, but not too low that it might become dangerous for the Doctor. He holds on to him by his side, that arm never letting him go as the water rushes past them. There are a few school of fish that move about, glittering in the filtered sunlight this close to shore, and everything takes a glimmering emerald hue. It's incredibly peaceful.

And then they're moving up until they break the surface. Danny reaches out and grabs the buoy, and shakes his head to clear the hair out of his face.

"Now we're far enough to get a good view!" he says. And, indeed, he has carried Georgie rather far, far enough to the first buouy. The Rockaways shoreline, with its buildings, stretches away before them in the late afternoon sun. "Isn't it pretty?"

Insight has posed:
"Excuse," Georgie starts with incredulity. "I wouldn't...." But then he's being taken underwater. He doesn't get any ill intent, so he just trusts. He sees the fish and the sea going by at such a rapid pace. He gasps when he sees how far out they are. He flounders a moment and grabs a handful of buoy, pulling himself stead alongside Danny. He gazes back over the sight that Greenjack shows him. He's impressed, looking from a perspective that few really get. "Wow," he murmurs.

Greenjack has posed:
You should try more sunshine, Doctor. It would do you good." Danny jokes, and swims up to Georgie, encricling his waist with an arm.

"Yes, maybe you should read some more books on the greek myths, and I could pick up a few psychology classes, it seems." He raises an eyebrow. "Martial arts. That explains why you're so solid. We should spar sometime, maybe. I'm not exactly a trained pro, but I did get some training as part of 'the job'. So what does Georgie Goodspeed do in his free time when he's not tending to the soulbroken... and not duking it out with the clowns?"

He's awfully close to Georgie, but he seems to treat it as casual contact. Or maybe he's being a butt.

Insight has posed:
Georgie gives a bit of a blush as his waist is encircled, but he doesn't resist. The cold water keeps nature mostly at bay, but moreover the hippy doctor is fairly use to close contact. His own arm wraps around the green teen's back while his legs kick lightly. "I'm only semi-pro, really. Not horribly great." At least to his mind. He gives some consideration about what he does when he's not at work. "Well, I guess I'm fairly normal. I go to the gym... probably more than is healthy. I do some free running. Umm. I dance and go out sort of a ridiculous amount. Then the homebody things, yaknow? Watching movies with a friend or playing games or... whatever." He laughs and offers, "In a couple months, I'll be doing some canning! If you like applesauce, homemade tomato sauce, chili, salsa and all sorts of jams, I guess it could be pretty sexy." He gazes over and wrinkles his nose. "Pretty boring when I'm not at work. That's more than enough excitement. How about you though? What do demigods do when not looking for catharsis or catastrophe?"

Greenjack has posed:
"I try to stay in shape. Back when I did the hero thing it was basically routine. Now, I'm doing my best to keep the routine up, so I do the gym stuff. I like to read and do photography... but digital, I don't have the time to go full out with the equipment. Maybe when I'm out of college... although I could probably take a photography course!" he says. It probably becomes apparent by his careless talk of college classes to take at random and the quality of his clothing at the club that he is not poor, even though he is not ostentatious as a rule.

"I read, and I explore places where I shouldn't be. I have a bit of a penchant for trespassing without really realizing it, I'm afraid. Especially if there's interesting plant life."

He smirks, his feet keeping him at a steady float on the surface. "Or at least some of the stuff I'm trying to do a lot more now that I have time. I'm trying to find out what this 'normal life' thing is like, you know? I was battling dimension-hopping supervillains before I even had my first kiss. Some perspective is nice."

Insight has posed:
Georgie laughs softly and repeats, "The hero thing." He pauses and confesses, "That's all I wanted to do when I was younger." He lets a thumb trace over Danny's back lightly. "After you meet actual villains though, I dunno anymore. Maybe being a half-way good therapist is enough." He shrugs and asks, "Isn't it possible though that if you're born a little different, like a meta or a mutant, isn't it possible that not choosing is choosing to just let crap people do whatever they want?" He chews his lower lip, introspective for a moment, not questioning Danny but himself in a fairly obvious way.

He pulls himself out of his reverie after a moment and gives a sheepish grin. "Yeah," he agrees. Normal life gives a certain amount of perspective, but I'd never suggest it as a therapist. Normal is a lie at best, an excuse somewhere in the middle, and a weapon at worst."

Greenjack has posed:
"I don't believe in predetermination. That's a very Greek Gods thing to do, and while it turned out some pretty awesome drama, it's not a nice thing to live." Danny leans over and speaks quietly, almost conspiratorily. "I'll tell you a secret. It basically comes down to what you believe. I really... really want to just have my life, do my thing, not hassle. But I'm going to be honest with myself... if Poison Ivy tried to take over the city, you're deluding yourself if you think I won't be there if I hear about it. Or if I can snatch someone out of harm's way by growing a tree."

"Mom used to say something she apparently heard from Heraclitus once." He reaches up with a hand and traces the outline of Georgie's chin with a finger, "Destiny isn't destiny, character is destiny." He drops his hand down to rest on Georgie's chest.

Insight has posed:
Georgie gives his head a shake. "I don't believe in predetermination at all either. I do believe that the world needs things sometimes though. Changes that let it survive, thrive... evolve. Some get that choice in a more poignant way for whatever reason." His eyes sparkle as he agrees. "Yeah. A test of character." He reaches up and places his own hand over Danny's and gives a little squeeze.

"It's not particularly important. I'll let it percolate a little more. It isn't more than a hint at a thought yet." He smiles at Danny and then leans in. His lips near the other young man's ear, he whispers, "How about... you and me... go back... and have a bite to eat." He draws back and grins. "I actually did cook for us. It's not store bought or anything."

Greenjack has posed:
"That sounds wonderful," the green teen says, and leans forward. "Though, truth be told, I am not quite hungry -yet-"

His voice grows very, very sultry, and his lips are inches away from Georgie's. "Maybe we should... build up some appetite first."

And then he gives Georgie's butt a mock slap, "Race you to the shore!" he says, and Danny tears off, swimming towards the shore at a leisurely speed. He could totally outrace Georgie, but that wouldn't be fun... would it?
