...And The Next Day
Date of Scene: 13 August 2017
Location: Xavier's School
Synopsis: Yana and Dani have a conversation about the prior events, and Wolfsbane shows up.
Cast of Characters: Black Rose, Moonstar, Wolfsbane

Black Rose has posed:
It's somewhat still early in the morning, and Yana had woken, gathered a few things she'd brought with her into a gym bag and headed out into the backyard. A small breakfast had also been nabbed from the kitchen.
Presently, the small breakfast has mostly been devored, and there's a small pile of medium-sized clay 'rocks' - though these aren't the 'pigeon' types, they're smaller, and meant for hand throwing.
Yana throws, hard, one into the air as high and as far from her as she can, then slips a playing card into her hand and after a moment's concentration, she's whipping the card towards the clay rocks. The first target misses.
She chucks another, that one just misses also.
The third? Hits the clay target dead on, and the target explodes. "About time," she mutters to herself. It looks like Yana wasn't kidding about her reason for coming out here. How many kids bring tools, and practice at early hours in the morning to refine their ablities?

Moonstar has posed:
    "Nice shot, there."

The voice? Well, it's familiar enough from yesterday, as it's Danielle. The girl was out getting in a morning jog, wearing shorts and a tank top, as well as bright white sneakers. Moving close enough so she doesn't have to shout, she smiles at Yana, "Don't let yesterday bother you. Organizing in the field is a bit like herding cats, except there's a chance the cats will listen. It gets easier with practice."

Black Rose has posed:
Yana has enough skill and concentration to not look back, to not let herself be so easily distracted. Another clay rock is tossed into the air, and even though Yana is throwing it with the same effort, it seems to travel just a bit faster. She clocks it, then lets the card fly, fast, smooth, another small clay explosion.
"I'm not. There's a few things I messed up on," she says, agreeably, "And, we didn't all know one another either. A lot of factors."
"Want to toss a few for me?"
Yana pauses, only now to look back at Dani, brushing her bright blue hair out of her eyes, her face more serene, than anything else. "And, I got a pretty decent impression of everyone there, too. So, I can work with that, I think. But you're right. It will take time."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani grins, "Sure. Can do that." She picks up a rock, then lobs it in a high arc, saying, "Tabby might... well, I think she was a little jealous of the attention you were giving Lexi, too." She hrmms, picking up another rock.

She then continunes, "But you're right. We need more time to get to know each other, strengths, weaknesses, how we react. But, overall, for a dry run where we didn't know each other? Went pretty well. But we can do better."

Black Rose has posed:
"Tabitha needs to tell Lex she wants to make out with her," remarks Yana, mildly, "Or she's going to remain a type D for a long, long while." This is said casually, as Yana tracks with her eyes the rock that Dani's tossed for her. The next playing card is thrown, misses, thrown wide just a little. "Dammit."
"Been doing this every morning, for the last year. Going to keep doing it, until I can hit every last one," she confides to Dani.
"I know what my weaknesses are. I admit them, I work on them. I have no problem with facing them. But," she continues, "How can you trust someone on a team that decides to self-destruct with their own emotional state?" She shakes her head, "One day, Tabitha's going to call someone out with a temper as short as hers. It won't be good."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani grins, "Yeah, I know. You should have seen her when she first arrived." She tosses another rock for Yana's target practice, arcing that one just a bit differently, "Honestly, I hope she /does/ hook up with Lexi. I think Lexi can mellow her out a bit, and Tabby can give Lexi some brass. Plus, they'd be cute together."

Dani is feeling pretty good right now, just having had a morning jog (hence the tank top and shorts/sneakers), and is setting Yana up for target practice, with some breakfast laid out on the table by the pair, "Was pretty much the 'team lead' for students since I got here, hence why Tabby calls me 'war chief'. Learned a few things, sometimes the hard way, sometimes not."

Black Rose has posed:
"Don't know if I'd call it cute." Yana apparently, Dani might be able to tell, does not think too highly of Tabitha, but then - well, first impressions outside of the simulation weren't all that great for her either, admittedly. "Lex and I are just friends right now, very good friends. I've already helped her gain a fair amount of courage she always had, she just never had a reason to flex it. Lex has an amazing amount of potential. It'll take a little while for her to see it, though. Really see it." She lets Dani lob another clay rock into the air, again she takes aim with her playing card, and this one smashes the clay rock to pieces.
"I'll just call you Dani," says Yana with a bit of humor to her tone, then. "Any other explosive personalities I should watch out for?"

Wolfsbane has posed:
One such person who some might say can have a personality befitting Yana's question approaches from the gardens, Wolfsbane in her usual attire since returning. Steps are quiet, whether on grass or otherwise, and the way she's looking around at various things might lead to the thought she's focused on everything and nothing at the same time. Dani's presence, however, is something she's aware of, which may be why she's coming closer.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani laughs, "Dani works for me, Yana, so that's fine. And, I don't know Ellie all that well... but she reminds me a lot of Tabby. But really, we don't have too many tempermental folks." She tilts her head, feeling that familiar disturbance in the Force, and tosses up the rock in a high lob, waving to Rahne, "Hey, Rahne!" She looks pretty glad to see the wolfgirl, "Want some breakfast?"

Dani then gestures to Yana, "Rahne, Yana, Yana, Rahne. Yana's new at the school, and she just ran her first mission in the Danger Room yesterday. Went pretty well, all things considered."

Black Rose has posed:
"You want to try? With one of your awesome spears or arrows?" Yana is quite curious about how Dani makes those, or what they're made of. The deck of cards, about 1/3 depleted, is set down, then, as Rahne makes her entrance. Mostly.
The blue-haired punk-rock girl lifts her hand towards Rahne, all friendly like. "Hey," she greets. "Sorry you weren't there." She doesn't even blink twice at Rahne's appearance.

Wolfsbane has posed:
If Rahne's seen Yana at all yet, it may have been in passing. This is evidenced in part by a brow of hers goign up slowly at the overall appearance the newcomer shows off, and it isn't difficult for her to pick out what some of the materials are that make up the outfit. After all, they're much like her own, only a much different style.

"Och, hullo. It's nice tae meet ye." She's glancing toward Dani after the introductions, then Yana is met with a generally curious look from the wolfgirl. "How much o' a disaster was it? An' whit do ye do?" The general 'what are your powers?' question, already.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani grins at Yana, "I'm good, it's... well, part of my talent. Making psychic things with my powers. Used to be I just manifested someone's fears, but practicing here for a few years I learned to do a few different things with them. Like, well, bows and spears." She doesn't mention the whole Valkyrie thing yet, one thing at a time.

Dani then grins at Rahne, "Actually, it did go pretty well, bit of confusion at first since we all just kinda got together and winged it, but got through things okay. She did good work." And it isn't being 'nice', Dani genuinely means that, as she adds, "Did better than Gambit did when he tried TPing the Academy, anyway. But don't tell anyone I said that, because I'll deny it." Not that she wants to trash a teacher but... well, she was THERE.

Black Rose has posed:
"Kintetic Manipulation," answers Yana, directly Rahne. "Here." She takes another playing card, and she nods towards one of the trees, about thirty feet away. Her wrist snaps, and the card, somewhat impossibly, flies at an incredible speed and lodges itself entirely into the tree, the impact shaking the tree.
"Or." And she grabs a clay rock, now, and throws it, as hard and as fast as she had the prior ones. Only, about 1/4 of the way up? The rock suddenly begins to slow down, against all probabilty and physics, almost like watching a video of it in slow-motion.
"Not as explosive as Ellie, or as flashy as Dani here, but, the applications are pretty tremendous. I've beaten a Grand Master of Sambo, when I'm far below that level, simply because I was able to reduce the speed of his kinetic motion, while increasing my own."

Wolfsbane has posed:
Wolfsbane's initial reaction is to flinch from the display of the card zipping across the distance it does to embed itself into the tree rather than crumpling, bouncing off, or something else. "Och!" she exclaims, only to study further the way the rock moves much more slowly than gravity would normally allow it to. "Ye already seem tae have verra good control over it," she observes, sounding impressed.

She fiddles with her hands before sniffing in the direction of what's left of breakfast, squinting at Dani before she adds, "I dinna think I want tae know, so I'll pretend I never heard it." Back to studying Yana and her particular style.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani laughs, "Yeah, best that way Rahne." She smiles and looks about to say something else, then her smartwatch beeps at her, "Oh, shoot. Forgot I had an equestrienne lesson to teach the new kids. And no, Yana, haven't forgotten about that Brightwind ride either. Hit me up this afternoon and I'll show you around campus with style." She smiles and hugs Rahne, then waves at Yana, "Catch you two later!"

Black Rose has posed:
"I trained with my parents for a couple years after my abilities manifested," admits Yana to Rahne, after waving to Dani when she heads off. "When I'd pretty much exhausted myself there, I had the choice to either go here, or to go to the Academy of Tomorrow. I chose here, because, well, Alexia and Dani were both here. I met them a rave I helped set up in Mutant Town. They're really fun."

Wolfsbane has posed:
Wolfsbane opens her mouth then closes it, leaving her to rub the back of her neck at Dani's quick exit following the hug. It'd been a while since one of those, and she just smiles thinly at Yana. "She's often busy." All the same, she can't avoid a brief sense of disappointment. It might be she was looking forward to chatting with the Cheyenne. "I'll have tae see her later."

Then comes a question that may tell Yana a lot about who she's dealing with: "Whit's a rave?"

Black Rose has posed:
Yana's expression turns, well, interesting. She almost seems the question, and perhaps Rahne herself, is a bit 'cute'. "It's a party, essentially. A lot of dancing. A lot of loud music. People dress up, usually in bright colors, or gothic attire. There's some alochol, but there's more all different kinds of drugs. LSD. MdMA - Molly, Ectasy. Those sorts of things. It's just a party to go to to free yourself, and just - well, let the world go, and enjoy the moment. Not everyone does drugs, or not everyone dances. It's just - fun. A lot of fun."
She lets that sink in a moment, before asking, "So, you know Dani well? You've been going to school here awhile, too?"

Wolfsbane has posed:
Wolfsbane makes a face at the description given to her. Dancing, liquor, drugs, loud music..partying in general? "I'm..sorry but tha' doesna sound like th' kind o' thing I'd have verra much fun a'." And Yana apparently met Dani at one? Hard for her to picture that! "Ye must think me boring for it, but I'm no' intae any o' tha'." Even the thought of drugs has her looking uncomfortable.

She somewhat hastily adds, "Dani an' I were students in th' same class, an' I think we understand each other well." Added, after a pause, is, "For th' most part."

Black Rose has posed:
"Not hardly," Yana shrugs, casually, "But keep in mind that people in Mutant Town? Don't have much. So? A rave to them? Is a big event. Tell me, Rahne, what do -you- do for fun, then, if you don't like parties?" She makes no presumptions, but instead moves a few of the remaining clay rocks back into her duffle bag, apparently done with this part of her training for the day.

Wolfsbane has posed:
"I dinna know a whole lot about Mutant Town, but I like nature, being ootside where it's quiet," Wolfsbane explains. "An' I like a good book as well." She's stepping toward what's left of breakfast, sampling from any of the cooked meats that are left. Bacon, sausage, things like that. After this, she admits, "I grew up..believing tha' parties were where bad things happened tae people. Noo I know tha's no' exactly true, but some things I'm still trying tae figure oot on muh own."

Black Rose has posed:
"Well, maybe I'll take you to one in Mutant Town, next time one happens," Yana ventures, "Just so you can see Mutant Town for yourself. And, a rave. Up to you." She nods some, and then adds, "But I need to get inside, and finish up picking out my classes and things. Go into town, see my folks. It was really good meeting you Rahne. Hope to see you around!"

Wolfsbane has posed:
A dubious expression forms on the wolfen mutant's face, but she doesn't outright deny it. "We'll see," is her simple response, doubt creeping in anyway to the look she gives Yana. "An' ye take care o' whit ye need. I'll be around here one way or another. I'm sure we'll talk again soon." She might even ask about the girl's style choices.
