Teenagers... In... SPAAAAACE! (On an unpaid internship)
Date of Scene: 22 September 2017
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Abigail Brand, Moonstar

Abigail Brand has posed:
Director Brand is nothing if not unsubtle. Indeed, if she's got any sort of reputation, it's for not taking any guff, not giving any guff, and shooting straight. Sometimes in a far too literal sense of shooting for people to be comfortable with. But some aliens just don't listen to anything short of high density particle beams, and that's not -her- fault. Of course, with the increase in alien activity she's noted, she's been wanting a little more backup.

And Alpha Flight has provided, in a sense. That sense being 'There are a lot of those costumed teenage sorts around. Costumed people fight threats, teenagers like space... let's put the teenaged costumed people in space!' and since space is -her- territory, she now has to deal with SWORD's new internship. Fortunately, she's got a short list of prospective recruits, and 'Asgardian trained fighter with mutant abilities' sort of soars to the top.

And so after much more government red tape than she'd personally prefer, she's set up Dani Moonstar for orientation and going over the specifics of the internship, including sending one of SWORD's teleportation gadgets, with a preprogrammed destination for her rural home.

Because internship and interview or not, Abigail is getting herself -part- of a day off work.

Moonstar has posed:
Well, Scott Summers did challenge Dani to think outside the box with what she wants to do. Because, well, staying in the mansion her entire life wasn't entirely what she wanted to do. And she's of Midgard, so while she likes the Asgardians... she's not exactly the same as them either.

But once Priss put it in her head that SWORD was actually a pretty cool thing, that got Dani thinking. So she put in the application, and now she's prepping for the interview. Clad in a very respectable looking black suit coat and pants with a white dress shirt, she adjusts her braids (which she'd never get rid of, interview or no), and then does a quick once-over in the mirror, saying to herself, "Okay, let's do this. Just hope they have a spacesuit for Brightwind..."

And with that, she picks up the teleportation widget, pressing the button as instructed and *ZAP* off she goes!

Abigail Brand has posed:
Brand gets an alert when the button's pressed, and as such is waiting with a cool, calm expression on her face, hands clasping opposite elbows behind her back. She's putting on her best 'very serious director of a secret organization' air, and not her more relaxed 'Totally has friends and emotions and is actually a real person, not a robot' she sometimes lets out around friends.

But those lips curl in a slight, approving little smile as Dani appears, eyes sweeping up and down behind her glasses. "Ah, Ms. Moonstar! I was hoping we would have a chance to discuss the internship. I've got some good news and bad news about it. The good news is, you're already accepted and this interview's really more for us to get to know each other." She sighs and gives a little shake of her head, "The -bad- news is I'm getting more and more reports of alien activity around the planet, and each report's more serious than the last. So... if you were hoping to intern during an alien invasion, you -might- be in luck... I don't suppose you were ever trained on how to fight against enemies with actual ray guns?"

Moonstar has posed:
Danielle blinks a bit at the teleportation, and returns the small smile back to Ms. Brand, "Thank you, Agent Brand. I've been seeing the news, and it looks like Metropolis has been getting the worst of it. And I've fought some Shi'ar on occasion. It's... ah, complicated." Because she's not quite sure how much Brand is in the know with the X-Men and the School, so she isn't quite sure what she should say.

Danielle then adds, "I normally don't use guns myself, but I know how to use them. My grandfather trained me pretty well with them. I'd be more than happy to help out with whatever you need."

Abigail Brand has posed:
Brand bobs her head with a crooked little grin and murmurs out dryly. "Well, you can fight however you're most comfortable. I mean, if I wind up having to draft Spider-Man, I'm not going to tell him not to use webs because I have a space ship full of guns. Just want to make sure you'll be able to handle the... things... that will be shooting back at you."

Her shoulders give a helpless shrug and she sighs out. "And yeah, we're spread thin, between these guys, whatever's coming after them -and- an entire other alien group I'm looking into... well, I'll see if I can get you a note to skip out on some of the more boring mundane homework you might normally have to deal with. No offense to calculus or whatever, but it can wait its turn. But! This is about you getting comfortable with me, so I guess I should let you ask twenty questions or whatever."

Moonstar has posed:
Danielle grins, "Well, Agent Brand, I guess I'm just wondering how long have you been with SWORD? What's it like, when aliens aren't bearing down invading Metropolis and other places? Or is it always like that?" She hmms, then quirks a sly grin, "Oh, and do I have to wear a black suit and sunglasses while waving around a memory-erasing-flashy-thingy?" Okay, someone likes classic Will Smith movies...

Abigail Brand has posed:
Brand huffs out... but there's a -hint- of a genuine grin on her lips at the huff. "Oh, I've been around... awhile. Pretty much since I got out of special ops. I was in SHIELD, then focused on aliens, then we needed a new acronym, then the last director was gone... and since then it's been more paperwork and meetings than the field ops I was used to."

She gives a little shrug and snickers, "Well, I'll admit I -do- go out in a suit time to time, but no memory erasing things... although, you know, a stern enough word about 'top men' coming by if they hear about someone blabbing usually works almost as well... and I -definitely- approve of sunglasses." She points to her own, and that grin grows just a touch wider. "But no, it's usually not this busy. Mostly aliens sneaking onto Earth to sell tech or whatever, but not as... ah... enthusiastically as these latest ones. It's like the difference between that sketchy kid at a high school selling oregano in a plastic baggie, and a drug cartel moving in."

Moonstar has posed:
Danielle nods, "Gotcha. Well, as long as we can have a spacesuit for my horse." She grins back at Brand, "He's a winged stallion, and we're bonded. Don't need to be with him all the time, but well... I can't leave him behind all the time either. Of course, he makes commuting easy on occasion. As long as there's a spot for him to graze."

Abigail Brand has posed:
Brand lifts her eyebrows up and grins widely. "Oh, I'm sure I can find something, or get something made up for him. I'll get you to... huh, okay, I bet horses don't have -sizes- to send me, so I'll just let the eggheads figure it out. But I'm sure a flying horse will come in handy for you in all sorts of ways." ...Okay, sure, mostly in flying and/or... traditional horse ways. But still, that's -two- ways.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani grins, "Well, he's the reason I became a Valkyrie in the first place. Found him when I got whisked off to Asgard a little while ago." She looks a bit sheepish, "Which was one hell of a summer vacation, let me tell you." There's a bit of a laugh at that, then she looks at Abigail, "But, was there something you wanted to ask me? I mean, I know my background is a little... unusual." Cheyenne mutant turned Asgardian Valkyrie? What's weird about that?!?

Abigail Brand has posed:
Brand shakes her head and laughs softly, "Oh, no, I mean, I know you've got some really good people vouching for you... you've got style, too, judging by the suit, and hey, Asgardian Valkyrie kinda covers all the 'Can you handle yourself?' questions. Mostly I just wanted to get in a face to face, and test out the new teleporters. Figure it's quicker to get everyone together than the old shuttle flight paths were. I'll see if I can't rummage up some sort of alien hideout for us to raid as practice soon."

Moonstar has posed:
Danielle gets a wry look, "Wait, that teleporter was experimental?" She chuckles, "Guess I should be glad it worked, then! But yeah, Priss put the idea in my head, and honestly, while I do want to go to college after graduation... I feel like I could be doing more. I guess you know what that's like."

Abigail Brand has posed:
Brand laughs and shrugs her shoulders, "Well, I mean, I was -always- uhh... pretty loner-ish? I mean, half-mutant half-alien, chip on my shoulder... It's all probably part of why I've gone the way I've gone." She snickers and gives a little side-to-side tilt of her hand, "It was... kind of experimental? I mean, we use the teleporters a lot, we've just never had the press a button and go function. Usually you had to call up an operator and... it was all a big hassle. Like exiting The Matrix or whatever."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani grins slightly, "Well, I guess I am dressed a bit like an Agent..." She hmms, "Chip on the shoulder, considering I grew up on the Rez and my parents were thought to be dead most of my life, yeah, I can relate to that. Even before my powers kicked in."

Abigail Brand has posed:
Brand bobs her head and smirks, "Well, I assure you that saving the Earth from aliens and beating up bad guys? -Great- for working out chips. Like, better than the army was... plus way less waking up at 5am for runs up hills and tons of jumping jacks and pushups." She lets out what -must- be an exaggerated groan, head shaking side to side slowly. "So many pushups... okay, most of them were punishment, but still..."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani nods, "Well, that's what working at the school did for me, really, and leading the team." She grins, "Even though we weren't technically supposed to do field work, wound up happening that way anyway." Her eyes dance a bit, "But yeah, I'm pretty well used to the strange and unusual at this point."

Abigail Brand has posed:
Brand bobs her head and snickers softly, "Well, I guess if your -worst- teenage rebellion was 'I took a team of powered people and did even -more- heroics than I was supposed to', that's... well, hell -my- teenage rebellion was way way less productive." She clicks her tongue and tilts her head, "Now... as to your horse... I'm thinking some sort of forcefield thing will probably work better than a space suit. Suits rip after all... plus, I mean, a giant horse suit might look... uhh... not... imposing?"

Moonstar has posed:
Dani laughs a bit, "Good point. If there's a little forcefield thing that would work, that'd be ideal I think. Though that'd be pretty good just in general, considering he doesn't really have much in the way of protection aside from being a magical horse." She hmmms, "He also has a weakness for sugar cubes."

Abigail Brand has posed:
Brand nods solemnly, "Well, my understanding is most horses do... and I'll make a note of that so I can keep on both of your good sides. I mean, I don't want a -magic- horse mad at me, I'm sure."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani hmms, "Well, Brightwind is pretty easy going. He loves giving the other kids at the school rides." She smiles a bit, "It's a bit weird, I mean, I've been at the school so long, I feel a little odd that I'll be graduating soon. It's... well, it's weird." She pauses, then ohs, "Um, yeah, so I was planning on going to college after graduating, that's not going to be a problem, is it?"

Abigail Brand has posed:
Brand gives a quick shake of her head, "Oh no, not at all. We'll cover it... discreetly, of course. So no one's murmuring about how you're getting paid by a shadowy organization." She laughs softly and grins, "And if you need to escape campus time to time, well, I've got a lot of property if you want to get back to nature. Lord knows I don't get to do it enough myself... but for now I imagine I could let you get back to the school, and give Brightwind some sugar cubes before he gets concerned, right?"

Moonstar has posed:
Danielle nods, and smiles a bit, "Well, I definitely like being out in the country. I think if I was in the city the whole time I'd go absolutely bonkers." She tilts her head, "And I'll make sure to give Brightwind some extra sugar cubes. Hopefully he's not watching Bojack Horseman again..." Hopefully she's kidding, maybe?
