Cast of Characters: Shatterpoint, Batman

Shatterpoint has posed:
    It's time.

Batman has received all of the information that is... Really available about Caroline from the various people he's in contact with that have taken a look. There's more out there, but that's going to take some time, if it ends up being revealed at all.

As such, the clock is ticking away towards when the two are supposed to meet again. Of course, they're going to talk in the city- and tonight, it's in the Narrows. Bats is almost certainly already "there" to some extent, likely to make sure that no funny business happens, and that everything is safe.

Caroline arrives somewhat more cavalier- right on time. No less mystery to it, though. One moment, the rooftop that they're supposed to meet on is empty. The next, she's there. It's not incredibly surprising, though- there are a lot of angles that she could have approached from.

Bats' mood might differ from their previous conversations. Since then, she's... Met several members of his organization. She broke into Barbara's apartment, in order to set up a meeting with Gordon. Jason was the impetus for that, their rooftop conversation ending with a recommendation in the Commissioner's direction.

She's been busy, but not busy breaking bones, for the moment.

Batman has posed:
It had taken an extra patrol cycle to make sure nothing would interfere nor interrupt. With the Ukrainian activity in Bludhaven a lot of the other gangs had been picking up some of the slack with their trafficking, the drugs pipeline starting to spread its bounty to other crews that normally would never have a taste. But it exposed those operations, gangers not used to moving product in a timely manner. It had led to a string of catches that had run the course of the last three days. A good take.
But it did leave things more in flux, more in chaos. It wasn't as under control as the Bat would like, and that led to longer hours, more patrols, and when the time rolled around for this meet... it required some aggressive tactics that led to this part of the neighborhood being lit up bright with the blue and red of black and white cruisers that are still hauling their collars into a paddy wagon.
It's with that glow of multi-colored lights behind him that Batman will make his presence known. The wall of the tall building behind him alternating between those primary colors. Much like her he appears with little fanfare. But when he does so he announces his presence with a simple greeting.
    "Detective."

Shatterpoint has posed:
Caroline is standing there with her hands in her pockets, her stance as casual as... Well, as it gets for Caroline. It's an old detective habit- everything could be important, so she's always somewhat wary. Always a little on-edge. "Not for a long time." In the dark of the night, her voice seems to penetrate a little more than it used to. It's not hard to hear her anymore, yet it doesn't echo.

"I have been... Active. I spoke to some individuals regarding how to... Engage the city, without making things... Dangerous."

Batman has posed:
"Gordon is a good ally to have." He says as he steps forwards from the edge of the rooftop, his cloak curled around his shoulders shrouding him in shadow even as the bricks behind him continue to change with each turn of the patrol car's lights far below. "Though you aren't on his good side."
He steps past the returned officer, then rounds to face her directly. The white eyelets of his eyes offer little insight as he looks to her, expression controlled and precise. "The ones who were tasked to find out about you haven't given me much to work with." He crosses his arms over his chest, the cape parting over his chest.
"You seem compelled to do what you can. For the world, the city. So long as you keep on point to that, there will be no difficulty between us." That said he pauses for a moment, but then he adds. "You take a life or give in to revenge over justice and then we'll have trouble."

Shatterpoint has posed:
"He seems it." she notes, looking from Batman for a moment to the streets below. Her glowing eyes are haunting against the red light, when it rolls over them- and nearly hidden in the blue, alternately. "He's probably wary. It's a good reaction."

"They found out as much as they could. It seemed to... Unnerve them, slightly. They know I'm not some zombie or vengeful spirit, returned for a specific purpose. I feel that is all that was required." She turns her attention back to him directly. She isn't trying to glean much insight. She doesn't need to. Her own expression is difficult to read, and her voice even moreso. Whereas normal people give a lot away with their tone, Caroline's is static, monotonous.

"That's the point. The Commissioner asked me to be less... Aggressive. I see the logic in this." she states, offering this mild roll of her neck. "There is nobody on this planet from which I need to get some sort of closure."

Batman has posed:
Nodding slowly, Batman turns his head to the side as if something occurred to him, his brow knitting faintly for an instant before his attention returns to her. He unfolds his arms and replies. "Give yourself time to become acclimated to the world as it is now. To the heartbeat of the city." He turns and takes the few steps to the edge of the rooftop, planting a boot on the small wall the borders the gravelly surface.
Over his shoulder and to the side slightly he murmurs, "China Basin has been having reports of strange manifestations. Mysterious occurrences, people disappearing."
Turning to the side his eyes narrow as he looks to her. "With your perspective and past, you might see something different than I did." Not exactly marching orders, but a task of sorts that might bear fruit under her unique outlook.

Shatterpoint has posed:
Caroline nods once, slipping her hands out of her pockets. "I have been there, once, in the time that I have been back. My presence seemed to unnerve the pair that I met." she states, giving it a short moment of thought. "I will see what I can find. With any luck, the people disappearing will still be alive."

"After I find out whatever I can, how do I get in touch with you? Or you, with me?" she asks, "It is not entirely practical for one of us to drop out of the sky onto a rooftop containing the other."

Batman has posed:
A small black device is extended to the side towards her without him looking at her. Just a black featureless burner phone with a slightly larger than average data display. "Activate it and speak, I'll hear you. Though may not be able to respond instantly." That said he straightens up and turns to face her. His brow furrows as he looks to the woman.
"It may take some time. For you to feel something akin to comfort with the world again. If it comes to it there are some in the League that might be able to help." He starts to step away and towards the other side of the roof, back the way he came. "Until then. Do what good you can for this city."

Shatterpoint has posed:
Caroline grabs it, and for a moment considers letting him know that she's never seen anything quite like it, and has very little idea how to use it. She figures she'll figure it out, but that illustrates something she hadn't really considered- the time she came from is so far behind now, and Apokolips was so far -ahead- of now, that she is sort of dwelling in this rift outside of relevant time. She's still got a lot to learn.

Pocketing the phone, she offers an affirming nod. "Understood. And if you need help, at least you have a way to ask for it."

Batman has posed:
"I'm taking a risk trusting you, Ramsey." The tall man says as he turns to look back at her even as he drops a hand to the belt at his waist, removing a small pistol-like device that snaps open as he lifts it up and to the side. It hisses with the faint sound of compressed air even as he looks towards her. "But I think I'm making the right call."
That said he gives her a nod and then lifts that device upwards, the grapple-line discharging with a short snap-hiss as the hook fires upwards, the line unwinding as it trails after, the device clicking into place on his forearm guard.
Then, in the next moment, the line snaps taut and launches him up into the air as the line retracts, his cape flaring out behind him like the wings of a bat that obscures the glow of the moon high above. But only for a bare instant. Once he's out of the moonlight, the figure of the Dark Knight is gone.
