Synopsis: Colleen has a surprise for Danny
Cast of Characters: Iron Fist, Colleen Wing

Iron Fist has posed:
It was the Christmas season, and if it's possible, Danny was even less mature around the holidays. He was filled with the Christmas spirit. He had worn a variety of 'ugly' sweaters, one with Mickey Mouse, one with Mario, one inspired by the Orville, some plain ones with reindeers, Christmas trees, Santa, one that had Olaf from Frozen in it. He sported all kinds. But tonight, he wore a fairly plain one. It was white on the bottom hem, as well as the sleeves, on a bit of a diagonal, as if to make it appear like a mountain of snow.

Above that, the sweater was blue. There were twinkling stars in the sky, and a Polar Bear skiing down the mountain, as three Penguins held up signs with scores out of ten. Below that, he had on beige pants. He had changed into it after having attended a board meeting earlier in the day. Colleen had told him she had something special planned for tonight. So, the mystery had him in suspense all day. When he did arrive at the Dojo, which was closed, the last class having long since ended, he brought a bouquet of flowers, red and white roses in a mixture, with another green flower to give it a Christmas-like look. Colleen wasn't in the Dojo, so he wandered in, not finding her in the small kitchen, leaving only the bedroom. Knocking on the open doorway, he asked, "Colleen?"

Colleen Wing has posed:
It had taken scrimping and saving. Tucking bits of the tuition she'd been paid for lessons away in a 'safe place' until she thought she'd had enough.. and finally Colleen had broken out the hiding spot and counted up the cash she'd squirreled away. She had plans! She'd told Danny to expect a surprise, and between closing down the dojo early, and slipping the delivery men an extra twenty each, her little surprise had been not only delivered, but set up, and the boxes taken away before Danny's arrival.

She'd just been putting the finishing touches on her surprise when he arrived, calling out her name. The young woman arriving at the doorway to her room just as he did, popping up with a smile in response to his knock.

"Hey! You're early." He gets an easy smile, and a brief kiss. "No peeking." A hand coming up to rest over his eyes.

Iron Fist has posed:
Colleen was fiercely independent, and Danny loved that about her. She didn't care about his money. He knew it. She knew it. But he would have preferred if she hadn't been so reluctant to accept some of it. She had to scrimp and save, and he could have paid for it on Interac. Danny couldn't seem to hear or smell anything unusual. "Sorry about that, but I grew impatient to see you." He flashed her that brilliant smile of his, kissing her back, before her hand slipped over his eyes. He closed them, since he wasn't going to peek. "Of course not, that would ruin the surprise." He reached out, to take her free hand in his, to help guide him. His hand was warm. He could feel her pulse. He smiled again. "You smell nice." He said, with her hand so close to his face, and her body well within his personal space.

Colleen Wing has posed:
"I shouldn't smell good," Colleen murmurs. "I've been busy setting up all afternoon. And I didn't get to shower after classes." Or after setting up. Hell, she hadn't barely finished gathering up the last bits of trash when he'd arrived. "So. Do you want the surprise now? Or shall we eat first."

It's an actual question, but even so, she turns hsi body away from the open doorway, so that he's back to facing out towards the dojo proper. "Oh. I have a cheque for you, and I forgot to tell you that one of the Avengers was asking after us." Us being the Defenders. Not that Colleen was a starring member or anything, but she did consider herself one of the group. "You'll laugh, actually. He made some wisecrack about how the Avengers were snobs. Something about that's what happens when there's a billionaire playboy on the team?"

Iron Fist has posed:
Colleen smelt like Colleen. She smelt natural. And Danny liked her. He liked her scent. Waking up beside her in the morning, the smell, of her having sweat, having a full day, being against it, it felt like home to him. It felt nice. He liked the way she smelt. He liked everything about her.

When he's turned around and given an indication he can open his eyes, he did so. "Colleen, you don't need to give me a cheque. I've told you, I don't care about money." Even when she insisted he take her money, he had a habit of donating it to some charity. It was a tax write-off, so he understood, but that's not why he did it. Still, every time she wanted to give him money, it was as hard as him trying to give her money. Neither one of them wanted to give in.

"Uh, how about the surprise first? I've been wondering about it all day. An Avenger? Neat. I wouldn't know anything about that." Danny was many things, but a playboy was not one of them. "You think I'm a playboy?"

Colleen Wing has posed:
There's a laugh from Colleen, and a quick hug of arms about Danny from behind. That was exactly the reaction she'd expected from him.. the playboy bit, not the insisting he didn't need her money. "I thought you'd find that funny. I think he meant Tony Stark, to be honest, but the way he was talking it was like the Avengers had gotten so important that they didn't often get down to our level. You know, having a playboy billionaire on the team made them snobs. I didn't have the heart to tell him we had one of our own. Annnnnd.. you're not a playboy."

She should know. Colleen was the sum totaly of Danny's experience with women. His training in K'un Lun requiring more than just physical and mental discipline from the man. Though it still amused her to think how quickly that phase had passed once she'd entered his life - even if it took them some time to smooth things out between them.

"Surprise first, huh? Fine. And you keep saying I don't need to give you a cheque, but Danny, I told you when you bought the building that that wasn't who I was. It was a lovely gesture, except you can't buy me things to make my life easier. I need to.." She sighed. "I love you. And we're going to argue about this for a very long time, aren't we?" Though she does have to admit somewhat sheepishly, "It's only for three-quarters of the rent anyway? I kind of overspent on the surprise. Well, for the bits to go with the surprise."

Iron Fist has posed:
Danny held her arms, hugging them as she hugged him from behind. He was a one woman man. He was like the anti-Tony Stark. It was funny having a whole conversation with her behind him, but he treated it as if it were entirely normal. She could probably sense the smile on his face, even with his back to her. There was just an overall joy to his body language. He was like a kid in a candy store, so animated, and so full of life.

As she explained things, and came to a conclusion, he grinned some more. "If this is the worst thing we ever argue about, I'd happily argue about it with you forever." And, don't think he didn't catch the l-word. "I love you two." He did, he really did. Nothing was said about it being a partial payment. As far as he was concerned, she had overpaid. "Bits to go with the surprise?" he asked, curiosity dripping from his lips.

Colleen Wing has posed:
Colleen gives another quick squeeze before letting him go, leaving him to turn around and face her if he chooses. "Oh, we'll probably argue over something. I think everyone argues." She didnt' sound terribly convinced, though. Other people did things like argue. Colleen wasn't sure Danny did. He was all sorts of fierce when he needed to be, but in so many other ways he was the same naive innocent she'd first met. The only time they'd actually come to verbal blows, so to speak, was when he'd first found out about her alliances to The Hand, and that was all in her past now. They'd moved beyond that, the two of them.

"Bits to go with the surprise. I had enough for the main part. But then I got all excited about the holiday, and.." Her voice drifts off and she grins softly. "You'll see."

Iron Fist has posed:
She could be so cryptic when she wanted to be. He turned to face her, and leaned in, giving her a big hug. His sweater brushed against her when he did, and it was warm and cosy. "Are you going to cover my eyes again, or can I see whatever it is you've got?"

Colleen Wing has posed:
"I should make you cover your eyes," Colleen grinned. "But I won't. You could close them until I lead you into the room, though?"

The hug made her happy in ways she couldn't explain. Other than it was just so him. All the things she loved about Danny wrapped up in a simple package - a very.. mostly ugly Christmas sweatery package, but a package nonetheless. With him, almost everything was simple. He made her feel like the world was a good place. That she could trust her instincts. He made her want to be better. Or, more appropriately, he made her want to make the world more like he saw it, even if it meant doing things he might not to make it that way.

Right now, though, she still had that surprise. It was a simple thing. A couple simple things, really, but she hoped he'd like them.

Iron Fist has posed:
Danny took her hands in his, a simple gesture, but he gave her hands a squeeze, then closed his eyes, and kept contact with one of her hands, so she could guide him in. He trusted her. And she was right. He did see the world in a great light. He was a billionaire, he was a martial artist of renown. But at the end of the day, he was just a regular kid, with that optimistic outlook on life that comes from watching too many Saturday morning cartoons.

Colleen Wing has posed:
Colleen leads him back to the room - inside it this time. "So, you have to promise not to laugh, because some of it is silly, but I thought you'd like it.." She lets go of his hand. "Keep your eyes closed. it's part of the surprise, okay?"

Her footsteps echo back over to the door, where the sound of the lightswitch can be heard being flipped to the off position (obviously, since the lights were already on!), and the pad of her feet across the floor over to where the bed is.

"I got the idea when you started spending more time here overnight. You know how we always had to snuggle up so close to fit? I was just thinking how maybe that was nice, but maybe this would be nicer. You can open your eyes now."

When he opens his eyes, the room is softly illuminated by Christmas lights that have been hung from the ceiling, and around the window. And there, where her double bed used to be is a much larger, queen sized futon, complete with new bedding and pillows. As well, sheer fabric has been hung from a frame mounted in the ceiling to provide something of a curtaining off of the bed, clear lights strewn through the fabric for effect. It's almost like little fairy lights. The whole thing, other than maybe the Christmas lights, a peaceful oasis that suits her dojo, and them. Well, her. The Christmas lights are totally Danny.

Iron Fist has posed:
"I like spending time here." He said, meaning every word of it. "I like snuggling up close to you." He really liked that. For a man who went so long without, sometimes he was insatiable. He was a very affection, especially physically, guy. He loved to kiss and caress her, or to just hold her. He opened his eyes to look around, seeing the new bedding, the new bed, and everything associated. The Christmas lights did make him smirk. He thought the whole thing was going to look lovely come January, or whenever the Christmas stuff came down. "It looks really comfy. How does it feel?"

Colleen Wing has posed:
She knew he'd find the Christmas lights amusing. Or hoped. They really weren't the surprise. The other bits were. And really, she'd been doing fine until she saw the displayin the store that gave her the idea of adding the sheer fabric and the clear lights. It was impulsive, and really she shouldn't have - she should have used that money to give Danny a full cheque - but she couldn't help herself.

She did feel guilty, though, because she knew he'd take the partial rent without complaint. For all she said she didn't care about him for his money, and meant it, this once she'd taken full advantage of his generosity. Even if she fully intended on throwing the missing portion onto next month's rent.

"I haven't tried it out," Colleen admits. "I was kind of hoping we might try it out tonight?" She liked having him stay, too. Just being with him made her happy. That he chose to share other parts of himself with her made her even more happy. It wasn't lost upon Colleen how lucky she was. She'd fought to earn his trust and friendship back, and had gained so much more.

Iron Fist has posed:
Danny moved towards her, slipping his arms around her in a nice, warm embrace. "I love it, and I'd love to." He leaned in, this time not to kiss her, but to brush his nose against hers. He could be so strange at times. Almost chaste. But he was so young at heart. He had never quite developed that emotional maturity. In some ways, he was a child in an adult's body. But as naive as he could be, he wasn't dumb by any stretch of the imagination. And he did have a lot of heart. His experiences had shaped him, and he came from a very different place. "How about we have a nice night in? We could order take out and watch some Christmas specials. I'm thinking the Holiday, Love, Actually, and Arthur Christmas?"

Colleen Wing has posed:
"The Holiday; To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday..." Collen counters, and relents, "And.. okay. Arthur's Christmas." Her grin spreads. "Sechaun, and you have a deal."

Which, really, was a pretty nice way to spend the evening. Their date food. A new bed. Some romantic movies. Some romance...
