Description
Description:
His costume is militaristic, with what looks like a flexible black chest plate covering his torso. It bears a muted yellow dragon symbol on his chest. He has black greaves around his arms. The back of his wrists are also covered in black, while the underside is that muted yellow. Around his waist, there is an equally muted yellow sash. He has black shin guards, and a muted yellow mask, which is armoured, like the rest of the suit, but has two tails of cloth hanging out the back. It's almost as if this is an updated costume based on an earlier, cloth design.
The rest of his body, his feet, knees, thighs, shoulders, and arm, are covered by a dark green material. While the colours may be simplistic, the design is rather intricate, as if it might take some time to put on properly. It's probably bulletproof, but has a flexible design that will allow for a wide variety of movements. The big toe of his shoes are separated from the rest of his toes, like tabi.
History
History:
He became the apprentice of Lei Kung, the Thunderer. The training was rigorous, and a mere seven years later, Rand earned the Crown of Fu-Hsi, King of the Vipers, by vanquishing four fours in the Challenge of the Many, and defeated Shu-Hu, the Lightning. After that, he began to diligently condition his hands by thrusting them into tubs of hot sand, then gravel, and finally, rock.
When he was nineteen, Rand was given the opportunity to gain the power of the Iron Fist. He was sent into a cavern outside the city, where he battled the enormous fire-breathing dragon Shou-Lao the Undying. During the battle, Rand grabbed the dragon's body, which bore a dragon-like scar that imprinted itself upon Rand's chest. After killing the dragon, Rand plunged his hands into the brazier, which contained the dragon's molten heart, to become the Iron Fist. Now, he could summon superhuman energy to reinforce the power of the blows struck by his hands.
Rand had a duty to protect the gate to K'un-Lun, which opened after he gained the Iron Fist. But he declined. K'un-Lun had many warriors, more experienced warriors, and was not in danger. Besides, the gate would be closing soon enough. He sought to return home, to reclaim his inheritance, and to learn more about where he had come from after so many years in K'un-Lun.
It took some time, and was more difficult than he had imagined, but eventually, he was able to gain control of his father's company, and regain the life that was taken from him. Along the way, he made some good friends, and until the portal opens once more, he will make the most of his life in the normal world.
Personality
Personality:
He is overly analytical, with a keen mind, and is sceptical about his role in this world. When innocents are harmed as a result of his actions, and he is quick to decide that they are a result of his actions, he may retire from heroing until fate drags him once more into the fray. However, he does not descend into self-pitying. For him, it is more of a philosophical dilemma. When he lacks a clear path, he asks am I doing the right thing, should I be fighting, and will my presence in their lives bring harm to my friends?
When he's not pondering his own existence, his goals are fairly straightforward. He leads a good life, likes to accumulate money, and is nice to those around him, because he enjoys positive situations. He's an amiable, likeable, open-minded guy. He's social and jovial. He's not as funny as he thinks he is, but he likes to joke around. But most of all, he's laid back.
As the Iron Fist, he alternates between group and solo work. He enjoys working with a group, but worries that it dulls his abilities, as he soon relies on others. However, when working on his own, he feels that he could achieve more as part of a group. And so he seeks equilibrium between the two.
Abilities
Chi Augmentation:
Rand can harness his Chi to augment his physical and mental capabilities to superhuman levels.
Empathy:
Rand has the ability to read the emotional state of those around him. He can also broadcast his own feelings in order to influence people or animals.
Energy Absorption:
Rand can absorb energy directed at himself and channel it into his Chi, augmenting his own power.
Energy Detection:
Rand is able to use his Chi to detect energy signatures, be they magical, or mundane, in origin.
Energy Generation:
Rand can project his Chi into a ranged blast attack. He can also transfer it into machinery, giving them more power, or people, temporarily enhancing whatever they wished to augment.
Energy Manipulation:
Rand has the ability to tap into energy fields and manipulate them, most notably the Earth's electromagnetic field.
Enhanced Durability:
Rand can use his Chi to generate an "aura" around his body to make himself more resilient against physical damage, and protect himself from energy based attacks.
Enhanced Healing:
Rand can focus his Chi for the purpose of healing his injuries, or those of others. By focusing enough, he can even purge bodies of poison; however, it is a painful process for the recipient of this removal.
Enhanced Reflexes:
Rand can channel his Chi to allow him to enhance his perception. This allows him to react to dangers in mid-combat at a superhuman rate. He is able to react to, and easily dodge, bullets, or effortlessly, and one-handedly, block the attacks from experienced warriors, whilst relying on senses other than his vision.
Enhanced Senses:
Rand has unusually keen senses. He can focus so intensely that he can watch the sweat flow out of someone's pores, and hear it roll down their face.
Environmental Adaptation:
Rand can, through focus and meditation, sustain himself for extended periods of time in extreme temperature environments.
Heightened Awareness:
Rand has a limited form of precognition. He has the ability to detect threats to his well-being in his immediate vicinity before they actually happen. He can sense the direction and severity of the oncoming danger.
Iron Fist Punch:
By summoning his Chi, and focusing it into his hand, Rand can draw upon the energy derived from the heart of the Shou-Lao the Undying, a Dragon that is reborn every 88 years. When Rand psychically channels a concentrated form of his naturally energy into his fist, it becomes superhumanly resistant to injury, pain, and superhumanly strong. Rand can shatter brick as easily as wood, rip through steel, and punch opponents with extraordinary concussive force, without sustaining injury to his self. The force of the Iron Fist has rendered incredibly durable metahumans unconscious.
Nervous System Control:
Skills
Business Sense:
Rand is an altruistic businessperson whose wealth ranks him in the upper part of the Fortune 500 list.
Master Martial Artist:
Rand is a master of, among others, Akido, Boxing, Judo, Karate, K'un-Lun Quan, Ninjutsu, Shaolin Quan, Zui Quan, and street fighting. When temporarily blinded, and without using his Chi, he was able to defeat a superhumanly agile, durable, fast, and strong supercentenarian. When using Zui Quan, or "drunken" techniques, he can fool precognitive and telepathic opponents. He is one of the greatest martial artists on Earth. He also possesses infinite ways to kill, such as the Black-Black Poison Touch, which uses Chi to kill all those in close proximity to him.
Meditation:
Rand is a master of meditation and relaxation techniques. He can enter a trance-like state to ignore pain, slow his heart rate, accelerate healing, and replenish his Chi.
Multilingual:
Rand is fluent in English, Chinese, K'un-Lunan, and has a limited vocabulary in Japanese and Spanish.
Peak Physical Conditioning:
Rand is an Olympic-level athlete and gymnast in peak human physical condition. He is capable of lifting, without increasing his strength with Chi, at least twice his body weight, and can press 350 kg.
Pressure Point Locator:
Ran can locate different pressure points on a body, whether they are human, or otherwise. He can use them to incapacitate, paralyse, severely injure, or even kill. He has shown himself to be capable of landing pressure point attacks on opponents who possesses superhuman agility, reflexes, and limited precognition.
Skilled Acrobat:
Rand is a skilled acrobat capable of many difficult feats, such as making a freestanding leap over an oncoming vehicle or running up a fence.
Skilled Detective:
Rand is an experienced investigator. He can follow leads, interrogate suspects, and has closed many cases.
Weapons Master:
Resources
Defenders:
The Defenders are individualistic outsiders who are known for following their own agenda. They eschew working on a regular superhero team, to the point that they are considered more of a non-team, but they are a team nonetheless. Rand often battles mystic, supernatural, and steel-level threats alongside them, and he is their financial backer.
Iron Fist Suit:
Rand's crude costume was replaced by a resilient green and yellow suit from Potter's Costume Shop that offers full body protection against moderate abrasions and impact trauma without trading away flexibility.
K'un-Lun:
K'un-Lun is one of the Seven Capital Cities of Heaven. It exists in a different dimension. The gate to and from K'un-Lun can normally be accessed once every 88 years, with the next scheduled gate opening in 2107. However, as Rand won the Seven Capital Cities of Heaven Tournament, K'un-Lun can be temporarily be accessed through the gate every 10 years, with the next scheduled gate opening in 2029. Rand spent ten years of his life there. It can be accessed through other means, but they are fraught with peril.
Rand Enterprises:
Weaknesses
Aftereffects:
Rand is vulnerable immediately after channelling his Chi. The higher the concentration of his Chi, the greater the vulnerability. It does not last for long, but in that moment, or moments for a supreme effort, he is left weakened and drained. His reaction time is slowed, he is unfocused, and sometimes, he can even be stunned. If someone were to study his actions by arranging tests, it would be easy to find out that he is at his weakest point immediately after using his power.
Chi:
Rand is a capable man without the Iron Fist, but he is just a man. Most, if not all, of the extraordinary feats that he can perform, are tied to his Chi. They drain it, and it takes time, or effort, to replenish it. His Chi is not an inexhaustible resource. The more phenomenal the feat, the sooner his Chi will deplete. Because of this, he tries to use it sparingly. He would prefer to never use it. But that is almost never an option.
Doubt:
Rand's feelings of inadequacy come from his K'un-Lun upbringing. He's the Champion of an Other-Dimensional, mystical civilisation. K'un-Lun has vast, formidable traditions, and a very rigid sense of honour, and duty; it is nigh-unbearable for an ordinary human being. He is the Iron Fist. But he asks himself why.
Education:
Rand has an American 4th grade private education and a decade of study in K'un-Lun. Socially, he is inept, as he was never taught what it was like to grow up in the normal world. K'un-Lun is very different. But he is an adult now, and despite the gaps in his education, he must learn to live in this world. He will not understand cultural references. He went to K'un-Lun as an outsider, but after a decade in one of the Seven Capital Cities of Heaven, he is an outsider in New York.
Impression:
Rand often comes across as a hesitant, superficial, slacker. When he returned to the normal world, he had difficulty proving he was who he claimed to be, and he owes a great deal of that difficulty to his bearing. This also feeds into his doubt, and has led him to believe that he is a follower, when he is in fact, a leader.
