Cast of Characters: Hawkeye (Barton), Quake, Nick Fury
Tinyplot: Rising Tide

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
As he promised Skye, Clint had gone to see Fury about a meet. So, when it was approved, he set things up, finding a little known safe house in the city, an old apartment, to meet at. At the appointed time, Clint's on alert, outside keeping an eye on things while folks met inside. He knew this was about the hacker, Genus, and figured if the guy was going to turn, they needed to make sure he didn't get taken out first.

For his part, Genus is nevous, he'd agreed to turn, agreed to work for the man, and meet 'the man' in it's form of Director Fury, but he wasn't sure of any of it. Still he stays close to Skye, she was the spy right? She had to know what she was doing.

Quake has posed:
Skye still wasn't quite sure how she'd made the transition from DarkSky, newly returned to the fold hacker, to 'so here's the thing, Genus..'

It had been a risk, but it had paid off. So far.

She'd gotten him to the safe house early. In part to help calm his nerves (and her own) before the meeting, and also to deflect from the look of a crowd all arriving at once. She knew Clint would be out there at some point near or at their arrival time. Her part of the job was getting Genus here. And, to not scream too much at Fury. She could yell at him later about things. This was business.

"It's going to be okay," she told Genus. "My boss will show up and we're going to have a little talk. We'll get you protected no matter how it goes down, but this is the only way I could think to make this work."

The rest, however, was just waiting.

Nick Fury has posed:
Nick Fury moves out of the shadows, his eye scanning the area with his regular sight, and his "patch" scanning the area with better than vision. He had spotted Clint outside, and had moved into the warehouse without being seen. Letting Clint know he was there made things easier though, and he just taps the mike once, a response of brief static. Fury was there.

Walking over to Skye and Genus, Fury makes himself walk normally, in order to allow the two to see and hear him coming. No need to scare anyone right now. "Agent Johnson. I see you have brought your...friend." Looking at Genus, Fury says, in a soothing voice...well as soothing as Fury can get anyway..."Thank you for coming. Everything will work out. You're safe." His eye finds Skye. "Let's do this as fast as possible. What do you need?"

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Genus nods to Skye. "I hope so. I mean between crossing that Karl guy here and the guys already after us, I am going to need all the protection I can get."

He jumps when Fury makes his entrance, giving the man a once over. "Wow, holy shit you're him right? The Director of SHIELD?" for a guy like Genus, it was like meeting the boogieman face to face. "And, thanks, I want to help, the Tide, we've gone totally off the rails."

Quake has posed:
Skye snorts at Genus, "Already told you what to do if you have to run. You go to the mansion and drop names. Seriously. You need to run, get your ass there."

She doesn't startle when Fury joins them. She'd long ago lost that instinctive reaction, and replaced it with all sorts of others that she'd learned in SHIELD. She'd come a long way since her Rising Tide days. She can't help the smirk, though, when Genus goes off on a whole new level of fanboi.

"Yeah. That's my boss."

Fury gets a scowl. "I'm still angry, I hope you know. We will talk. Later."

She's quick to introduce the two, then. "Boss, this is Genus. Newly bumped to the inner circle in the Tide with Momento's death. Genus, Director Nick Fury. SHIELD. Since I can't do this through proper channels, and because I think there's potential to create a whole new asset for us, boss, I thought it would be best to talk now rather than after the shit hit hte fan." Skye adds, "Oh, yeah, Genus here is who's been helping me. Without him I'd have been up the creek back the day the Madripoor incident happened."

Nick Fury has posed:
Fury frowns and crosses his arms across his chest as he studies Genus carefully. His deep timbred voice responds, "Last time I checked I'm him. Yes." A pause. ""We've" gone totally off the rails? Yes, "you" have." Fury's frown, if possible, goes deeper. Now with the introductions over, Fury nods.

Looking at Skye, Fury raises a hand, and nods. Fury forestalls the long tirade, and was glad she was going to talk about it later. "Excellent." Looking at Genus, Fury says, "Glad you helped, Genus."

Fury does take a moment, though. Just to make it seem like he cares. "How are you doing kid? Still hanging in there? I know what you are going to say..." A pause. "...I know, it's been hard on you. We will talk later, I promise. That is what forges true Agents, Agent Johnson. Only you could do what you have. Now, we just have to finish this off."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Genus nods. "Yeah," he says with a weak smile. "Might just go there and drop names just 'cause," he says about the Mansion, he was a bit of a fanboy, even if he was too nervous to crack jokes well.

"I did what I could because DS is a friend," he says with a nod to Skye. "She helped me out. Least I could do."

He goes silent for a bit there but when the reassurances come he gives a little nod. "I think so, I mean I feel like I want to puke all the time, I don't' sleep, but other than that, I guess I'm hanging in. It's crazy though now, they've got security on everyone because of the hits, they look like pros, and yeah, DS can probably tell you more, but we've got to end this. The whole crash the internet thing has gotten out of hand, but the thing is they've got us spread out all over, it's going to be hard to take this down without everyone ghosting."

Quake has posed:
"We get this over and done with, G, and I'll take you to the manion myself. Hell, I'll have my man take you if you want." Skye gives Genus a reassuring smile and a nod.

Fury gets a truer picture, though. Even if she bites back her desire to rain a few choice phrases on his head. One almost wonders who this girl is here and what did she do with the real Skye Johnson?

"It's bad," she admits to Fury. "What Genus says and more. I've avoided falling into the security ring, but Karl is pushing for hyper security for what he's planning next week. Doesn't matter that security didn't help Momento and her cell. I think something else is going on. And yeah. starting to be more than a little afraid. I have the ICER I stole, but I don't want that in their hands either. It's a fucking mess. And Miles has lost it."

Genus she tells quietly, "My name's Skye by the way. Skye Johnson. I figure you're taking a chance, so, hey. That's me."

Nick Fury has posed:
"Indeed." Fury says looking back at Genus. "Glad you are a part of the team now. Friendship is rare, and should be cherished." Or exploited. "Agent Johnson. We're at the end game now. What's the next steps?" Fury uncrosses his arms, and places them on his hips, his trenchcoat moving behind him revealing his gun belt and firearms.

"Bad." Fury nods. It was like he knew it was bad. He didn't even look worried. Glacial calm. "What is the next step Agent Johnson?" Fury asks, waiting for her assessment of the situation based on what she had just told him.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"Skye, hey, I'm Victor," Genus says before turning back to Fury. It was a step for him to use his real name, let alone in front of the /the/ SHIELD agent.

He swallows and then says, "I know you asked, Skye, but, while this whole hack is spread out, if you guys can take out the Inner Circle, and that asshole Karl, whoever he is, then this stops. I mean the virus we're using will still be out there, but without us running things, the Tony Starks and Reed Richards of the world should have that handled." He looks to Skye. "Maybe we can push to bring all the top people together?" he asks. "For their protection?"

Quake has posed:
Skye's lips bow over a trademark smirk. "What can I say, there's a reason I think we want him."

She nods to Fury, affirming what Genus says. "The other cells will be minimal. Not so much a distraction as monitoring progress from remote points and directing downloads. The big thrust will be the Inner Circle. It's all a little batshit. We never work like this. Not like what he's proposing. Even with the security blitz, it's insane. And totally something we can take down,"

She frowns at Genus - Victor. She knows what a huge step that had been for him. "It can't be me. I'm the anti-security. If I push, Karl will notice. Miles I could probably bullshit, but he's not the brains in this anymore. Not sure what's going on in his head. You, however, could. Everyone saw how you reacted to Saff. And then when Momento fell? You push it. Miles could go either way. Karl already wants the blitz."

"So, here's the thing, G. This here didn't happen. And you don't talk about it or text about it on anything you didn't purchase yourself. And you don't do it anywhere *anyone* from Tide has been with you. Got me? I don't care if you have to walk from your safehouse now and buy all new equipment. Hell, use that to push the agenda. But I'm pretty sure everything is bugged."

Turning to Fury, she drops the last of it, "Which is why I'm sure this is a blind for something else, too. Karl doesn't want the security to keep you out. I think he's using it to keep us in. We let it happen. And once the job starts, I drop line to our friend, and SHIELD takes us down."

Nick Fury has posed:
"AH yes. Victor." As though he didn't know it already. "Welcome to the team." Fury nods, and says, "We could do that. Whatever works. Bringing them all together might be dangerous, but it is certainly achievable in scope." Fury nods, and adds, "I am sure that the Richards and Starks of the World will be already working on it."

Following on, Fury nods, and says, "SOunds like a plan then Agent Johnson. Let's run with it. Whatever you need. I already have extraction protocols into effect when this all finishes up and the end game hits. You will be safe, but you need to take the arrest and I'll be there to ensure nothing happens." Fury turns, getting ready to leave. Looking over his shoulder he says, "Be careful." Tap. "You get that Agent Barton?"

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Genus nods to Skye's points. "You're right. It's got to be me," he says. "Miles will go for it because Karl wants it, and you're right, Karl wants to keep us in more than keeping others out," he lets out a breath. "We've got a meeting soon, the inner circle, I'll pitch it then, I know security is going to come up. And yeah, I'll be careful when I make the call."

When Fury starts to leave Genus reaches into his pocket and produces a flashdrive. "Oh, one more thing, Miles met with Lex Luthor, he gave us a list of safehouses, this that list, I figure it'll help in case anyone slips the net."

Outside over comms, Barton says, "Yep, heard it boss, all clear out here if you want to make your exit."

Quake has posed:
"Miles is going to get himself killed," Skye mutters without any sorrow.

Fury gets a nod, and the remnants of a tightly pressed smile. "Thanks. Might feel better with some shadowing, but this is better than nothing. And hey, it's what? Only a week or so to go?" The smile gets pushed and forced into bravado. "I've got this. Hell, been in tighter spots before. And I've got a rep. I've shot actual SHIELD Agents and lived to tell the tale."

Her way of saying she was tracking and it was okay.

Nick Fury has posed:
Looking over his shoulder at Genus, and then at Skye, Fury nods, and takes the flash drive from the man. Putting it within the pockets of his over coat, Fury says, "Thanks." With a nod, Fury says, "Good to hear Agent Johnson. You got this." With a final nod, and a tap on the comms, Fury blends into the darkness...and is gone.
