Synopsis: Vicky is upset that she might get never go to space again.
Cast of Characters: Redstar, Mon-El

Redstar has posed:
Starr is draped sideways in the seat beside Mon-El as he pilots the ship back to Earth. The demoness staring at him unblinking, face a neutral mask, without a word. It is the kind of look that would make mortals cower back on earth. Even here her dark and evil presence is almost a miasma.

The uncomfortable silence stretches as they pull away quickly from Knowhere. The space streaking by causes no interest or `wonder on the face of Starr. Though she is clearly unhappy she doesn't speak. Likely because of the private dialogue in her mind.

~You are reckless!~ Vicky railed against the other mind, furious at her.

~I was defending ourself.~ The demon replies cooly.

~Your hurt people, damanged property, and likely made it even more unlikely we could ever go back.~

Anger has power and Mon-El is witness to an unusual and rare battle in the seat behind him. A battle for supremacy of the body they share. Starr's lip curls and the flames flicker, as if dying, her skin shifts in patches to fair skin, clawed hands become dainty human hands for brief seconds before reverting. It causes the entirety of their body to otherwise be locked and frozen, staring without seeing, at the Daxamite.

Mon-El has posed:
Everything is...well, very quiet--as Vicky and Starr have their internal battle. Lar busies himself with the navigational controls, focusing on dynamically charting the best course back to Earth. It's true, with what happened earlier today, the chances of him ever taking out there again are slim to nothing. If she ever wants to go back, she'll have to find someone else to take her. He glances at her momentarily, then goes back to staring at the HUD, sighing.

Redstar has posed:
A minute. Two minutes. The body flickering and changing in patches and just...staring. The silence stretches until there is a great gasp. Red melts away to pale skin, horns and claws receeding, and eyes returning to a much more normal human look with pale blue irises. Vicky, having 'won' as she believes, suddenly slumps in the chair. Despite no physical exertion she is breathing deep and fast, head titlted down, pressing a palm to her head.

"Nnnnnnnngnnnn..." She groans before blinking her eyes clear. Back on the ship, heading somewhere, she suddenly curls up in the chair as chest she can. Knees drawn up to her chest. "Lar...?" Her voice is quiet and almost weak and she looks exhausted.

Mon-El has posed:
"You okay there?" Lar asks as he hears her struggle back there. He glances at her, seeing that Starr has finally receded. The holographic star chart above them is tracking their progress, showing that they are approaching the Sol system quickly.

Redstar has posed:
Vicky shakes her head subtley and turns her head to look out the window. "No...I'm not," She says quietly with a pensive expression. "I didn't get to see much, but the last bit...they were really from Khund?" To say something is bothering her would be accurate, but it is not guilt.

Mon-El has posed:
Lar shrugs. "I couldn't tell you for sure, but I don't know what else it whould be. They're the only ones you've come into contact with who whould have the power and resources to order that big of a hit on you. Unless you've been out here on a different occasion that I don't know about. I suggest you stay on Earth from now on."

Redstar has posed:
"I see..." Vicky says softly. "Well...thanks anyway. No escaping gravity I suppose." Her blue eyes stray back to the screen. "Will they come to Earth?" That is an honest concern. She would need to take precatuions if that were the case. A frown crosses her face as she thinks and considers. "You know what sucks?"

Mon-El has posed:
"They could, I guess. But it's less likely because Earth is so far from the rest of the galactic community so to speak and definitely has its own perils. Harder to find you out there." Lar replies. "They might decide that it isn't worth the effort."

Redstar has posed:
Vicky lets out an annoyed breath and scrubs her face. "I feel like someone whose been shown the most epic playground in existence and told I can never play on it," The tone of her voice is low and certainly unhappy. "I didn't even get a souvenir." She eyes the view-screen as the Sol system comes up. "Why do you stay on Earth, Lar, when all that is out there? If I had a choice," Which she doesn't unless she wants to watch for assassins from Khund forever, "I don't think I could stay long on Earth with all that out there."

Mon-El has posed:
"Heh." Lar exhales a bit. "I don't, you saw me that day you fought all those Khunds, didn't you? I get around. But at the moment, I don't remember very much about some of these...other civilizations. And given what happened when I showed up on -Earth- not knowing a thing about it, I try to avoid that situation as much as I can." He sighs, shaking his head. "I'm sorry Vicky, but that's just how it's going to be. What happened, happened and there's nothing we can do about it. I mean, I -did- tell you that hanging around Ares would bring you nothing but pain, didn't I? Maybe if you hadn't listened to him or even been with him in the first place, you would still be free to roam the galaxy without worrying about someone trying to assassinate you."

Redstar has posed:
Vicky's expression goes from annoyed to glowering pretty quickly. The stormy expression clouds her face and she gets up from her seat, stalking out of sight of her friend. Seems she doesn't like being proven wrong and she doesn't have much to say in reply. "I honestly thought it was just another illusion," She says after a minute or two of silence. "In his realm the landscape changes to his whim, the soldiers and such too, and they never actually die..."

Mon-El has posed:
Lar shrugs. "Maybe, maybe not. Still doesn't change the fact that this is on -him-." he points out, definitely giving her the 'I told you so' attitude. "I know, it hurts when you get proven wrong doesn't it? We all have our moments. I just want what's best for you, honestly. I would have loved to take you on a tour of the galaxy, but now I can't, so trust me I'm just as disappointed and sad as you."

Redstar has posed:
Vicky crosses her arms and leans against the bulkhead, glaring at the floor, her cheeks ablaze with a blush of frustration and anger. Though she has no fear, there is plenty of anger. "Oh I'm sure you're devestated," She snaps, the tensions high, voice filled with sarcasm. The moment the words leave her lips she knows it was the wrong thing to say, her own emotions getting away with her mouth. But she doesn't apologize either, those same emotions telling her she didn't do anything wrong. "Are we there yet?" She asks cooly, not looking at the Daxamite. Such a happy start to the day has taken a very unexpected and uncomfortable turn, leaving tensions between the two as they finally arrive in orbit. The sight of the blue planet below only seems to upset her more from the closed and tight look on her face when Lar stands from the controls. Everything about her body language screams she has closed off, arms crossed, avoid his gaze, lips a thin grim line.

In the dark recesses of the mind where she retreated Starr watches quietly. If she could wear an expression the demon would look pleased, too pleased. Though the travel did not go as planned something positive, to her, came from it and she quietly stokes the fire of envy and wrath.

Mon-El has posed:
Lar folds his arms at her sarcastic remark, finally having lost his patience with her petulant behavior. "-What- do you want me to say, Vicky?" he snaps right back at her, his voice rising. "All this time, I've been trying to be a good friend to you. I've tried my best to relate to you, I've let you tour the cruiser, I let you buy a gift for your boyfriend who by the way happens to be a mercenary who has little regard for anyone but -himself-, I even took you into deep space like you always wanted to. I defended you with my -life- back there. And this is what I get? 'Oh I bet you're -devastated-'." He mocks her tone. "You know what? Maybe I was wrong. Maybe you -should- stick to hanging around arrogant, selfish types who think of others as assets instead of friends, since you don't seem to have any concept of what that means, anyway!"

Redstar has posed:
Vicky's looks shocked as Lar loses his own cool, staring at him with wide blue eyes and slightly parted lips. She looks away first and presses her face into her hands. "I'm sorry," She says in a quiet voice. The girl turns away from him and shakes her head. "You're right. I..." She drops her hand and shakes her head. "Maybe I don't know what it means."

Those blue eyes are shiney with unshed tears as she finally glances back at him. "You've done so much...I..." She hugs herself and frowns at the floor. Then she shakes her head and dashes a hand across her eyes. "I'm dangerous. And being my friend isn't safe or good for those who have tried." There is defeat in her voice as her shoulders fall. "Thank you for everything. Can you send me home now?" Her voice is quiet and some might call it meek.

Mon-El has posed:
It's a good thing Vicky apologized when she did instead of escalating the argument, as the Daxamite's eyes had begun to glow a dangerous red. Though when she slumped in defeat, it quickly fades away and he sighs. "I know you are, and I know it isn't. That's why I've tried to step up, because I know if anyone can protect you or even take a hit from you without getting killed or severely injured, it's me. If anyone in your life actually cares about you, it's me. I mean let's face it do you really think Shadowlite would risk his own life for you? Not to mention, Ares? You didn't see -him- showing up to defend you against those assassins did you? I can't just...stop caring, because you don't -have- anyone else. And...I have faith in you." he says finally, his voice softening. "You can -learn- what friendship means. You can learn how to appreciate and inspire others. Heck, -I'm- still learning that. If I didn't believe in you, I would've just turned you and Shadow over to the government as soon as I had the chance." He pulls keys a sequence on the transport panel and a slipgate opens to lead back planetside. "Right, homeward bound. Just please, Vicky. Don't go back to Ares. Okay?"

Redstar has posed:
Vicky looks up sharply at Mon-El when he mentions Shadowlite being willing to protect her. "He already has," She says defensively, but it is the only real argument she has. Then she shakes her head and rubs at her eyes again. "I don't know why you care..I've not been exactly given you my best..." Her head shakes and she wraps her arms around herself tightly, frowning at the floor.

~He has faith in you, isn't that sweet?~ The demoness pounces on the emotional maelstrom coming off from Vicky, only making it worse with her silent commentary. Vicky closes her eyes as if that would somehow shut out the evil that is a part of her.

"I hope you're not wrong to put that faith in me, Lar. I really do," She says after a moment of reflective quiet. She turns towards the slipstream as it opens and stares at it almost hatefully. As she moves to step through it he makes his request and it catches her up short. Pain is evident in her face as she looks back to Lar, "I...can only try. He -is- a god and I? I'm just the unlucky girl with a demon attached to her soul," And she steps through the slipsteam, leaving it at that.
