Date of Scene: 20 January 2019
Location: Gotham City
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Mellie Mortain, Zombie-Girl

Mellie Mortain has posed:
The Manor no longer has a name. It rests in silence as it has for the past several years since the last owner mysteriously died. Most in Gotham know of it by reputation and for now the police have given up trying to solve the strange murders that took place there over the decades. Tonight it is storming and a single light appears to be on in the attic of the manor. The glow can be seen easily against the contrast of the otherwise pitch black night.

Lightning occasionally illuminates your path as you travel. Whatever your reasons for coming here, the manor does not appear inviting at all. The faint sound of a woman suddenly screaming from within is soon drowned out by the boom of thunder.. it sounds like the storm has gotten closer.

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl , following up on an extremely tenuous lead in her current investigation has come to the spooky mansion. Gotham is probably a good distance away from the turf of the gang that she's been hunting, but being that it's a locus of the supernatural means that it's at least worth a quick look over to cross it off of her list. It does give off some Vincent Price vibes to be sure, but the zombie doesn't scare too easily. Briefly she glances down at her notebook, scrawls a few notes, then walks her way up the decrepit foot path. When she hears the scream she sighs, pockets the notebook, and hustles up to the front door.

Mellie Mortain has posed:
The light upstairs suddenly vanishes as Zombie Girl approaches the door. It opens by itself but no one appears to be there. A small bouncy ball, similiar to the kind played in a game of Jacks bounces down the stairs and seems to coincidentally roll across the foyer and stop in front of the zombie. A faint giggle can be heard from within, "One, two, three.." It is the sound of a young woman at play..

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl leans down and picks up the bouncy ball and stares at it for a few beats. "Oh, so we're doing a Paranormal Activity here. Right lis'en up. I ain't no tourist to the strange and I don't scare. I do the scaring, see?" She pushes the dark goggles up off of her eyes so that her eyes can be seen. They glow with an unearthly green light, like twin cinders wreathed in hellfire. She starts to explore the bottom foyer area while bouncing the ball. "I'm looking for some gang bangers of the devil worshiping flavor," she notes.

Mellie Mortain has posed:
The giggling can be heard again, closer now. Suddenly a pale white apparition blinks into visible light in front of Zombie-Girl, "Maddison! Mother said you can play at my house today!" She appears to be in her early twenties or late teens but the way she is speaking seems quite immature, "Can you sleep over? Did you ask your mother? Father is upstairs.. we can't be loud." She looks up before whispering, "He'll get cross and bring out the switch.."

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl isn't exactly scared when the ghost appears before her, but she is startled. "Gah!" she shouts and slides her right foot around behind her and pushes her weight back on it and sinks into a reflexive fighting stance. "The fook is Madison? I'm the ZG," she says and points to herself with her thumb. "So are you intelligent, or just a residual?" she asks. Though not the most polite response, she waves her hand in your face to see if there is any kind of response to rule out if you are just spectral Memorex.

Mellie Mortain has posed:
Mellie smiles at ZG, "Come on inside! Mother is baking a roast for dinner.. I have a new rocking horse in my room. You can ride on it first.." She starts to walk towards the stairs, her form and voice fading slowly, "I can't wait to go back to school on Monday.. I want to learn more letters.." Then she is suddenly gone.. or so it seems.

Lightning flashes again followed by thunder not long after. You suddenly find yourself alone in the darkness. The creaking sound of footsteps can be heard coming from upstairs and the house grows colder.

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl lets her hand drop crestfallen when the ghost blinks out from in front of her. "I take it you don't have an Xbox around this joint," she notes after the offer of the rocking horse. She makes her way over to the staircase and looks upward to see if she can locate the source of the foot steps. "Okay, now where'd you go?" she says raising her voice.

Mellie Mortain has posed:
The footsteps can be heard again and then a black shape seems to briefly flicker into view at the top of the staircase and then vanish again. You might even catch a glimpse of red, glowing eyes, definitely not Mellie. The sound of sobbing can be heard, Mellie's voice. The sound is coming from upstairs, not too far away from where the footsteps first seemed to be coming from.

There are a lot of rooms up there, the manor is huge. It may take time to find the ghost again.

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl narrows her eyes at this new shape. "Yeah, I'm coming up these stairs jack. It would be in your best interest not to be standing in front of me when I do. I'm dealing with the other dead girl right now." She squares up her shoulders, balls her fists, and stomps up the stairs towards the black shape, playing a game of supernatural chicken with him.

Mellie Mortain has posed:
The black shape does not return, however the sobbing continues as you reach the top of the stairs. It's coming from down the hall overlooking the foyer. The long array of rooms stands before you.

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl cracks her knuckles when she gets to the apex of the stairs. "Yeah, that's what I thought," she says while wearing a cocky sneer. She walks into the hallway and calls out, "Hey, where did you go? I made the demon piss off if that's what you're crying about," she calls.

Mellie Mortain has posed:
The sobbing continues only this time it's coming from further down the hall. Footsteps can be heard coming from the attic. Both spirits seem to be active right now but the demon is avoiding you for some reason.

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl hustles down the hallway in a light jog. "Hello?" she calls out when she gets closer to the end of the hallway. "I promise that I'm not friends with Zak Baggins," she lets you know.

Mellie Mortain has posed:
The sobbing stops and one of the doors opens by itself. You will see Mellie huddled in a corner should you enter. She is rocking back and forth hugging her knees. The rain is pouring down hard now, typical Gotham weather. She is looking up at you.

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl clears her throat. It's more of a remembered action more than anything as she doesn't actually have to breathe. "Yeah, so I'm not so good with expressing sympathy. But... uh... you good?" She stands just outside the doorway, but does not cross it. "I'm just doing an investigation, but it doesn't look like this place is related in any way to that. So I can go if you need me to?"

Mellie Mortain has posed:
Mellie stares at ZG for a moment and whispers at her just loudly enough for the other undead to hear, "He's coming.. he cannot be stopped." She starts rocking back and forth again, "He killed me.. made me eternal. I will never be allowed to leave. He'll trap you here too.. don't go into the attic.."

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl walks over to you and kneels down beside you. "You mean mister tall, dark, and demonic?" She laughs a terse, arrogant laugh. "Lemme tell you a little bit about my education. I also died. My own shit choices killed me. Then because of other shit choices I did my stint in the hot place. I don't know how many demons tried to get me to bend my knee to them. Let me tell you something about demons, they only get the power over us that we give them." She stands up and calls to the ceiling. "You hear that you fucking poser. Let me guess, a lesser demon that got sick of being hell's biggest fucking nerd and thought you'd head to Earth realm to try and trick people into thinking you're not a complete loser?"

Mellie Mortain has posed:
Mellie watches ZG, "He'll hear you.. I'm afraid.. he won't let me go into the attic. He will howl at me.. make me afraid.. and he'll get stronger. Sometimes he can hurt and sometimes he can't.. he will try to feed on your fear.. make you see things if he can."

The sound of a LOT of hard objects falling down the stairs can suddenly be heard and then what is likely the sound of them clattering hard against the wall follows. It's a long string of rattling sounds and thumps. Mellie's eyes widen, "All of his victims.."

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl holds out a hand to you. The gesture is supposed to make you feel better, as she probably can't actually lend you a hand. "I'm not so good at doing what I'm told. If he don't want us in the attic, then that where we're going. Come on, we'll go give it the finger. You'll feel better, trust me."

Mellie Mortain has posed:
Mellie has never actually interacted with anyone with this degree of lucidity before but maybe it's something about ZG also being dead that allows her to connect more with her, "He'll hurt us.. make us see.. make us feel.." But she flickers in and out of visible light rapidly as she almost seems to teleport to the door, however it's merely fast movement. She turns around to look back at the other dead woman, "Why are you still.. in a body? You said you.. died?"

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl stands up and brushes off her knees. "Yeah I died. But I stole the power that was used against me. I found my way back to my body. From there all it took was a spark to get things moving again. But I'm still not fully alive again either," she notes. "He can try to hurt me," she says with a shrug. Boy she has something of an ego.

Mellie Mortain has posed:
Mellie stares at ZG, "I want to live again.. smell the flowers.. I want to go back like you did. Show me how?" She is clearly naive and doesn't quite understand the metaphysical differences between herself and Zombie Girl.

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl scratches the back of her head, "I don't know if its something I can teach, or would want to teach. I would have to lead you into flame and trust that you won't burn. But what we need to do is get that monkey off of your back."

Mellie Mortain has posed:
Mellie nods slowly although she still doesn't quite understand, "Go to the attic if you must.. but be careful.. he's coming. Maddison didn't believe me.." She looks towards the set of stairs leading up to the attic. It's on the other side of the hall, another staircase like the one leading to this floor. But then she widens her eyes in horror, "No.. no no no no.. no.." She is point at the ground at the bottom of the stairs..

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl walks out of the room and towards that staircase. "What's wrong?" she asks you. "Is he bothering you again?" she asks. "Yo, let's chat zombie to demon," she yells and takes a few more steps up the stairs.

Mellie Mortain has posed:
As soon as you can see the floor the scene is laid out before you: Bones.. lots and lots of bones. The entire floor is littered with them and the lower half of the staircase is covered as well. Decades worth of rotted corpses. Then there are the corpses themselves, pale college aged students. Male and female, their faces contorted in fear, their individual causes of death mostly apparent due to the states of their bodies, some impaled while others burned to a crisp, among other things.

But then it all vanishes and the staircase as well as the floor in front of it are empty again. Mellie looks at ZG terrified, "He made us see.. he's coming." A single loud, crashing thump can be heard coming from the attic, as if something rammed into the door.

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl rolls her eyes when she sees the vision. "Oh no corposes. I've never seen a corpse before. Does he have any better tricks?" she asks you. She leaps straight up and catches herself on the fingertips of one hand. With incredible ease, despite her entire mass being held up with the ends of just a few fingers, she pulls herself up to look over the lip of the attic.

Mellie Mortain has posed:
Mellie appears to be somewhat encouraged by her new friend, "He.. he doesn't scare you?" She looks up at the attic. It's a bright red door with an antique looking lock. The key hole is large enough to see through. A growling sound can be heard briefly from within and the light in the attic flips on even though there isn't any power in the house.

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl shakes her head and says, "Nah. I'm used to dealing with demons. Even if he's a free range demon and not from the pit, doesn't mean that I'm going to give him any satisfaction of scaring me. She knocks hard on the door before trying the knob.

Mellie Mortain has posed:
The door is locked and your knock goes unanswered. Mellie watches you in silence, "I regret to inform you that it is not possible to open that door ma'am.. I have tried for decades.. decades.."

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl holds up a finger and tells you, "Okay, but let me try to pick the lock first. Stand back, this is a very delicate process." She cocks her arm back and brings her prodigious, inhuman strength to bear on the door in a nice straight punch. Apparently her idea of picking a lock is just a lot of punching.

Mellie Mortain has posed:
The demon roars and howls as the door is broken down, "MINE! MINE! SHE IS MINE!" The gutteral voice sounds more male than female but is better classified as androgynous, "MIIIIIIINE!" Objects in the attic from antique dolls, rocking chairs, and old papers and pictures, and many other things begin to fly across the attic, smashing into the wall. Stomping sounds accompany the chaos.

As the poltergeist activity worsens Mellie tries in vain to cover her ears.. but she doesn't have any.. she can't block out the sound.. and she looks like she is starting to become afraid again.

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl motions for Mellie to follow. "So it's temper trantrum time then? Jeez you're a bitch. Just let her go and we don't have to fuck with one another. Whaddya say?" She walks right into the tumult of flying objects, seeiming pretty unconcerned with being hit by anything.

Mellie Mortain has posed:
The demon doesn't stop. It continues to scream, "LEAVE NOW! I WILL DESTROY YOU!" The language is simplistic and lacks much creativity. Mellie sees that the flying objects are not hurting Zombie Girl and for the first time since she died, sets foot into the attic amidst the chaos.

Suddenly the poltergeist activity ceases, perhaps indicating that the demon has weakened and can no longer keep up the assault. Mellie carefully looks around.. and then the light turns off again. The demon is silent and still.

You can see dolls, rocking chairs, a rocking horse, a music box, an ancient record player. Indeed everything in here is old, from the late 1800s and early 1900s, "They were ours.. no one could get in here to claim them.. my life.. it is all laid before us.." Shattered photos can be seen here and there. But there is nothing seen yet to indicate why the demon was so afraid of anyone getting into the attic. Further investigation is warranted.

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl crosses her arms and snerks when the assault of random junk suddenly ends. "Performance issues?" she makes a cringing face and adds, "Don't worry, I hear it happens to lots od demons." She starts to circle around the room, looking at the gathered antiques, but still not letting her guard down.

Mellie Mortain has posed:
Mellie watches ZG in silence for a moment before speaking, "What are you looking for?" She is amazingly still lucid.. this is not something that happens.. ever, "I do not understand why you wanted to come here, nor can I say why the demon who haunts me wanted to keep me out.."

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl glances back over to you. "What? Oh yeah, I forgot all about that. There is a street gang out there who is dabbling in demon worship. I heard rumors about this place, and thought I'd make sure that it wasn't in any way related so that I could remove it from my investigation." She looks around at the stuff and says, "But it was obviously trying to keep you from something up here that's important to its power. Maybe its fetter is here somewhere."

Mellie Mortain has posed:
Mellie listens to ZG, trying to comprehend what she is saying, "I.. understand some of what you say but.. why would anyone worship creatures like this? It has terrorized me for more than a century.. fetter? What is that?" She too is looking around the room, looking for anything strange, or out of place. She recognizes everything in the attic thus far.
