Punishment comes to Harlem
Date of Scene: 05 February 2019
Location: Harlem, New York City
Synopsis: A gang deal gone wrong is interrupted, and Punished
Cast of Characters: Punisher, Sabrina Spellman, Morrigan MacIntyre

Punisher has posed:
It started as a typical block party. The playground was also condoned off for it, and the Crocs -a local gang- were celebrating something. Everyone in Harlem with any brains was keeping away from the area.

Well. Almost everyone. There was a bar across the way to the north for those who were curious, and didn't want to attract attention.

Two unmarked black vans were coming from the west. With the block party going north to south, the black vans were coming in alongside, slowly. The Crocs? sentries were visibly worried about them on the northern side, the two young men reaching under their jackets for their pistols, waiting to see if they needed to pull them out.

No one was expecting the intruder from the south.

*CRACK* The sound of a single round whips through the air... *CRACK* another, and the two vans suddenly swerve, toppling over as they try to regain their balance... only to flip as they hit the pavement.

The sentries are already starting to run for cover as chaos breaks loose among the party, with people going for guns.

Sabrina Spellman has posed:
Sabrina Spellman isn't here for the party. She isn't even on the ground, actually! In fact, the teen is a good bit above the party, cruising along and hidden by the darkness of the sky behind her. She's dressed in a cute, dark skirt and a navy blue sweater, with tall socks and a cute pair of shoes. Her messenger bag of holding is over her shoulder, and her familiar peers out from it, watching the lights of the city flash by.

Also, Sabrina is flying on a broom.

"Can we go back to Canada yet?," the annoyed cat mews above the rush of wind. "America smells weird." Sabrina smirks down at the cat and shakes her head. "Not yet. I've got to..."

The girl trails off at the sound of gunfire, her eyes widening. She stops in mid-air, a good fifty or sixty feet above the whole situation below. She stares down at the party gone wrong, trying to figure out what is going on...and if she can help anyone!

"See? Guns! America!," the cat mewls in disgust.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan had a reason to be in Harlem, she was stopping by to check with one of her patients who she'd not been in contact with for a bit. The red head was standing on the steps of a townhouse, not too far from where the gun shots first started. Her bright violet eyes going wide behind her sunglasses at the first crack. "Oh you've got to be kidding me!" the doctor mutters as she takes cover. "Didn't I survive a bar fight last night with the Avengers? Now I'm going to be shot in Harlem." she grumps as she tries to look over the concrete rail to see who is shooting.

Punisher has posed:
The shooter is not visible from the ground unless you know where to look.

Sabrina, on the other hand, will easily see the sniper on top of an apartment complex to the south. He's got an M4A1 with a scope on it, with an attached bipod and a flash hider. The black trenchcoat and his own body hide most of him, but as she looks downward to the man with a crew cut, she can hear the distinct *CRACK* once again as the man fires once more.

One of the sentries getting into cover behind a dumpster gets his brain splattered all over the side of it. A perfect headshot.

Up Above, the Punisher mutters to himself, "One Batch." *CRACK* another round hits the vans as the occupants try to leave... and the gas tank starts to leak. "Two Batch."

Sabrina Spellman has posed:
Her eyes land on the shooter, and her face screws into an expression of determination. "Sabrina. Sabrina, no," the cat says quickly. She isn't listening, though. She mutters an incantation under her breath, and a magical shield shimmers briefly around her, bestowing some rather intense armor before fading from sight. "He's KILLING people, Salem. Didn't we come down here to look into all this hero stuff?"

She zooms down through the air, the broom landing on the opposite end of his rooftop. The girl hops off of it, letting it float there in case she needs to make a quick getaway.

"Hey!," she calls out, tugging her wand from her hip and holding it out in front of her like she was in Harry Potter or something.

"Hey! Drop it, crazy!"

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan is probably glad she can't see who is shooting, but soon, there's the scent of fresh blood clogging her senses and there's a split second of a moment she debates running for it. But given she's not sure /who/ is being targetted, she stays right where she is. She does move down a few steps, still peeking out to see what all is being done...and whether she's going to have to dig a bullet out of someone.

Punisher has posed:
He isn't being attacked immediately, but the rifle has already been dropped and his M9 pistol is out and in his hand as the teenager girl drops onto the rooftop behind him. He doesn't aim. Yet. "Get outta here girl, before you get hurt. These people don't kid around, and you might get in the crossfire." This close, Sabrina will recognize the white skull on his vest and the face of Frank Castle, if she's inclined to realize who he is.

Down below, the lack of suppression is allowing those in the vans to leave, and the gang party to disperse. Soon, the majority of people will be in cover... and looking for the shooter. "I don't see them!" One of the people from the vans shout. "Like they ain't yours, fool!" One of the gangs reply.

Sabrina Spellman has posed:
The blonde furrows her brow as she squints at the outfit. That skull has been emblazoned all over the media, even in Riverdale. "That's the freaking Punisher, stupid," the cat peeking out of her bag meows. Yes, Frank can hear that. She hisses something to the cat and he grumps, ducking back into the bag. She turns back to Frank, her wand wavering a hint.

"But...you're killing people!," she calls out. There's uncertainty in her voice now, though.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan fumbles one hand into her pocket and there's a bit of a look to her phone as it chimes, "Ah shit." she mutters as she sees who it is. "I forgot to get Dresden what he needed. Probably need to get that." she shakes her head. She dares to peek over the rail again, her red hair probably makes a good target, but she doesn't realize that. "Can we stop with the gang violence for five seconds?" she asks in a whisper.

Punisher has posed:
"They do worse every day. The gang down there? They deal in poison and protection rackets. One of their girls didn't play ball, and she was dumped in the river this morning. The ones in the black vans had a deal for her, and are coming for revenge." Frank calmly explains, even as the two groups down on the street begin to eye each other warily. Looks like another sort of street war is about to erup-*CRACK*, a pistol is fired from one of the man in black suits that left the vans, and the round bounces off brick, sending debris everywhere.... and gunfire begins to fill the street soon after, even without the Punishers help.

"They're going to turn the street into an innocent bloodbath, girl. You do what you need to do." With that, Frank turns back to the rifle and starts to take aim again.

Looks like Sabrina has a choice.

Sabrina Spellman has posed:
Her wand wavers a bit and she frowns. She spends a moment in thought, lost on what to do. Her conscience is tearing her apart, but it is certainly a complicated situation. She makes her way to the edge of the rooftop, staring down at the carnage. Sabrina feels her stomach drop at the violence below, and she lowers her wand. After a moment she raises her wand again and gestures with it. She mutters something under her breath...and the windows to the homes and buildings in the area suddenly seal over in an intense, light blue energy. The doors seal next, making sure that while no stray bullets will hit an innocent, nobody can duck behind one of the shields to escape.

"...Make sure...make sure you don't hit an innocent," she says softly, feeling disgusted both in herself and the situation.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan hears the gun shot go off at street level and there's a rush of adrenaline that hits. But she's too scared to move. Well that sucks! And why is she in the middle of this anyways? Because she was being nice and making a wellness check. "Alright. I don't even have a will, so if you can do me a solid..." she trails off as she flicks her gaze up to the sky.

Punisher has posed:
Well, that's helpful.

"You got it, kid." The Punisher replies. *CRACK* Another round slams home, and one of those in cover gets another brain splattered across a wall from behind. Frank aims again. *CRACK* This time one of the men in black dies.

At this point, the light shields, combined with the sniper, have those below panicking for better cover... only to realize the buildings are sealed tight by Sabrina's spell.

*CRACK* *CRACK* *CRACK*. Hearts and brains continue to be ruined by M4A1 rounds as Frank does what he does best.

The sudden burst of activity finally has them find the shooter up on the rooftop south, though. "UP THERE!" One of the gangers shouts.

Suddenly, the place on the rooftop is lit up as both groups start to fire their pistols and sub-machine guns up at his position, sending debris everywhere as the Punisher pulls himself and his rifle back.

Meanwhile, Microchip had had a drone above, keeping an eye on the situation. Over the transceiver, he gives a low whistle, "Looks like you have a bit of help there, Frank."

Sabrina Spellman has posed:
Sabrina covers her eyes and fights back retching. She can't believe what is happening below her, and she is going to have nightmares about those sounds. Still, she felt the need to do SOMETHING. She just isn't sure if it was the right thing. She cries out as a bullet suddenly hits her. There is a flare of intense pink light, and the bullet loses speed and drops, useless, to the rooftop.

She points her wand at one of the groups of men, calling out an incantation. A tree growing from a patch of dirt in the sidewalk suddenly erupts and expands, branches growing out and wrapping around the men and lifting them high above the cement, shaking them until they drop their weapons. They are held there, useless.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan's gaze swings upward when one of the people shout 'up there!' and there's a bit of a moment taken to focus on where everything is coming from. She cranes her neck a little to catch a glimpse of what's going on and spies...well, that head might be Frank Castle. "Well, I'm going to just scoot on down the lane while he's doing his thing..." the Irish woman states and decides to slip over the other rail to start making a get away.

Punisher has posed:
He's already relocated to the other side of the rooftop by the time the fire has stopped. When Morrigan tries to slowly leave though... one of the men in black moves to grab her, "no you don't!"

While Frank starts to pop heads as they float on branches, one of the men in black is going for Morrigan, trying to take a hostage!

Sabrina Spellman has posed:
Sabrina is caught-up keeping up her shields and such to keep the innocents inside safe, so she totally misses the man attempting to capture the older woman. Her bright eyes scan the street, her brow furrowed. She'll feel the horror of this when it is over, without a doubt.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan looks over her shoulder to see the man running up and the woman quickly grabs the top of a trashcan and tosses it at him, "The hell do you think you're doing?" she growls at him. Well, Morrigan you complete dope you just tossed a perfectly good weapon at the guy with a gun. Good job!

Punisher has posed:
Indeed, the trashcan just seems to piss off the man in black more, and he pistol whips Morrigan across the face to disorient her, before he grabs her up as a human shield for himself. "Quiet down, and you'll get out of this alive." He hisses in her ear.

Meanwhile, up on the rooftop, Frank is goin to work *CRACK CRACK CRACK* He's not trying to be subtle this time, just snapping off shots at each of the disabled gangers. Chests and heads are getting new holes in their heads every few seconds now. Guilty blood is being spilled in Harem tonight.

Frank, meanwhile, is relocating again as those remaining almost find him again.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan cries out as there's the sudden flash of pain that burns through her skull, is her jaw broken? No, but she's going to have a fracture somewhere in her cheek. "I'm betting you don't." she slurs out as she tastes blood in her mouth. The doctors head is still reeling though, so she doesn't put up much of a struggle.

Punisher has posed:
There are only a few people left alive on the street at this point, with all the bystanders gone, or holed up in the buildings. *CRACK* Another ganger is downed, and more pistol fire pours into the Punishers previous location. Five seconds later *CRACK* One of the men in black is dead.

A few seconds more, and Morrigan feels a sudden jolt as the hands keeping her in place suddenly fall away, and the sound of wet splatter fills the air. If she looks behind, she'll easily see her hostage taker has had the back of his head blown to pieces, and is on the pavement in a pool of his own blood.

A few moments later, and the last gang member has a hole in his chest... and he slomps to the street.

All in all, a massacre of about fifteen souls just got put down here, and the street is filled with the results of a mass killing.

Frank stands up a moment later, and takes out a monocular, surveying his handiwork, "That's all of em accounted for right now."

Indeed, the shooting has stopped. From where Morrigan is, she can easily spot Frank up on the rooftop... and easily see the skull on his chest from here.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan closes her eyes while the bullets fly and when she feels the hands drop off, she knows that guy is dead. It's just a feeling. Then she opens her eyes and looks down, confirming he is in fact dead as a door nail. Before she can stop herself she kicks the mans corpse. She then looks up to the roof and just stares at that skull on Frank's chest. "I owe you a drink sometime. Doubt I can find you though." she mutters as she takes a shaky step towards the sidewalk again. That's when she tears up and the adrenaline starts giving way to fear and shock. She could have died. That's probably why she looks white as a ghost as she walks.

Punisher has posed:
By the time Morrigan is leaving, Frank is already out of sight again.

"Heading back to the van, Micro. What's the eta for police?" Frank asks over the transceiver. "Two minutes," comes the reply from the other end.

"Plenty of time." The Punisher is bugging out for a safehouse, it seems.

Sabrina Spellman has posed:
Sabrina watches it all unfold, and she takes a few deep breaths before letting the shields drop and returns the tree on the sidewalk to normal. "This was bad," she mutters to herself, hurrying back to her broom. The teen climbs onto it, and a moment later she is in the air, hurrying away.
