Date of Scene: 28 February 2019
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Criminals attempt to ambush an armored car convoy but are stopped by the timely intervention of Snake Eyes, Mon-El and Arella Despana
Cast of Characters: Snake Eyes, Arella Despana, Mon-El

Snake Eyes has posed:
It's night time on a weeknight. Most people have gone home or are headed that way now, but even still there are plenty of folks out and about on the street, especially in a business district like this one. Current concerns do not focus on the people on the street at this time, however.

Above street level in one of the apartment buildings here dastardly fiends are planning on making an impact on New York to acquire wealth and power. Their firm belief that nothing should stand in their way has lead to them stockpiling weapons in order to pull off an attack on an armored car convoy that's due to pass by within the next couple of hours.

In their apartment lair the criminals load weapons, check the detonators on their explosives and go over their plans. They've got a map of the street nearby drawn on a white board with magnets to signify each of their positions as well as the positions of the armored cars. More alarmingly, they've marked spots under some manholes with: 'shaped charge 1' and 'shaped charge 2'.

Having been alerted to the possibility of a terror cell in the area Action Force, also known as G.I. Joe, has deployed their most skilled infiltration specialist to find out more information. Snake Eyes is in position on the roof of the apartment building, picking the lock on the door on the roof to try to gain access.

Arella Despana has posed:
Wealth and poessions. All trite and transitory relative to the pursuit of true power. Knowledge was a critical part of that enterprise if not the key and critical part. Arella Despana is out tonight seeking that very thing. She has tracked a signature of energy to the very convoy that the ne'er do wells are seeking to attack. The Svartalfar is simply tracking the convoy however and has no idea of any ambush or any intention of initiating one of her own. She just wants to see where the convoy winds up. She has climbed to an adjoining rooftop and leaps nimbly from rooftop to rooftop. She is in all black which matches her Svartalfar blue grey complexion.

Mon-El has posed:
It is one of those times when Lar is hanging out on Earth, after a bit of a stint in some backwater systems. He was in New York tonight, having meant to track Drake down and find something fun to do with his friend. Normally, he wouldn't be looking for trouble right around now, but he'd been passing by that apartment building and overheard some disturbing conversations. Were they -actually-...?

He stops and peers through the walls, allowing him to behold the criminals planning violence against some convoy. Probably after some object of interest. Identifying the manholes they've placed explosives under on the map, he goes to search for them on the street to see if he can defuse any of them without alerting anyone.

Snake Eyes has posed:
As the convoy trucks along one of the criminals' spotters makes a call to his comrades in the apartment. The caller is positioned on a rooftop overlooking the convoy's route. Little does he know but a certain Svartalfar is in a position to both see and probably overhear what he's saying as he speaks into the phone, "They're at position alpha. You guys might want to start getting into position."

Back at the apartment there's a rush of activity. The crooks double check their weapons, mostly short barreled assault rifles, before stuffing their firearms and explosives into carrying bags. All except for two of them that approach the windows overlooking the street. They ready a scoped, belt fed machine gun and a sniper rifle, getting behind the weapons and aiming them through the glass down at the road to provide overwatch for the guys now heading to the ground.&R&RThe explosive traps under the manhole covers are on the right hand side of the street. There are thin wires leading from under the manhole covers with small antennae attached to them, a detail that most humans wouldn't be able to perceive, especially as they drive over them.

Meanwhile, Snake Eyes has managed to get into the building. He has a gadget with him that's plugged into an ear piece that's worn under his mask. Directions are delivered through it guiding him towards the target apartment. The masked man moves stealthily but doesn't waste any time, hoping to get in position to spy on the potential criminals before they can act. He doesn't know yet that they're already moving.

Arella Despana has posed:
Arella Despana hears the spotter and silently takes up position behind him. She was a quick study and needed to figure out what was up before she made a move. But it was obvious at least that they were there for the same reason. At least to her. She needed more information. She doesn't notice Snake Eyes yet.

Mon-El has posed:
Hmm. Lar peers into the bomb's inner workings, and starts trying to remove the detonator without setting it off. Not that it would really do much damage to him, but it could catch some unfortunate passerby before he can throw it to a safe distance away. While he has a fair amount of technical knowledge, having spent a good part of his life in the far-flung future, he's still no Querl Dox.

He notices the criminals mobilizing in the apartment, and keeps tabs on their movements, debating whether he should try to take care of the explosives first or go and confront the attackers -now- before they actually hurt anyone.

Snake Eyes has posed:
"They're almost there, guys. I'm ready with the first charge," says the spotter over the phone to his compatriots. He's got a powerful set of binoculars he's looking through and an electronic device next to him with a long antenna and a trio of switches on it. He is quite focused on the task at hand and hasn't noticed that someone has snuck up on him.

The bombs don't have the most complicated detonators, looking as if they'll be set off by a radio transmission. The shape of the bombs themselves is interesting, with a pointed copper bowl on top of the actual explosives that looks like it's designed to penetrate the bottom of an armored vehicle.

The crooks in the apartment make their way out and take the stairwell down to the ground floor. There they wait, close to the entrance to the apartment building. Likely they're staying where they are for the time being to protect themselves from the initial explosions and the flying glass.

At the apartment itself Snake Eyes approaches and listens intently to what he can hear on the other side of the door even as he extends a fiber optic camera under it. When he sees what's on the other side the camera gets put away and he readies his weapon, preparing to kick the door in and clear the room.

Arella Despana has posed:
Arella moves a little off tot he side to try and get an idea of what this spotter is looking at. She weighs heavily the possibility of simply allowing this disaster to continue which might gain her access to the convoy and her quarry. But Midgard folk would likely die as advantageous as that would be in gaining what she wanted. Time to intercept the spotter. Arella punches the spotter in the back of the head. It is much like being kissed like a battering ram. She knows how to pull her punches in spite of her great strength and although a fracture is likely the most immediate consequence would likely be loss of consciousness and not death. She picks up the radio and says into it, "Hello there - hmmm what does this button do?" Her accent has a hint of a Nordic tinge to it.

Mon-El has posed:
Hm, well it would appear that he doesn't need to be Brainiac to figure this one out. Just a simple shortwave receiver, and a matter of removing it...right? So he does just that to both of the bombs, moving between them like a speeding bullet. Then he gathers them up, and chucks them upward so fast and so hard, that if they do not burn up in the atmosphere, they'll probably end up in orbit.

Once those have been dealt with, he walks up to the front door of the apartment building on the ground floor and enters as if he were just heading in for a showing or visiting a friend or something. "Hey guys, what's going on here? Hide-and-seek?" he asks casually. "...with weapons?" he chuckles. "Anyway, either you stop what you're doing and turn yourselves into the authorities, or don't and I'll have to hurt you. And trust me, you don't want me to have to hurt you."

Snake Eyes has posed:
The spotter goes unconscious immediately upon being struck, slumping forward and landing in a pile.

When the guys on the other line hear someone strange speaking to them over their comms one of them responds with, "Who is this? Minty, you there?" They sound quite confused about what's going on.

The bombs are smoothly and easily disarmed and their parts fly away faster than most beings can track to be destroyed harmlessly when they attempt to leave the atmosphere.

When the guy dressed like a civilian walks into the apartment building and starts accosting them, the criminals produce their firearms and level them at him. One of them thought to bring a suppressed pistol, apparently for just such an occasion. Moving with rapid speed he aims for Mon-El's face and his finger begins to press the trigger.

The door to the apartment slams open when Snake Eyes kicks it in. The ninja commando doesn't hesitate when he enters, running across the room before jumping into the air, intent on kicking both men in the head before he lands in a show of grace and martial prowess.

Arella Despana has posed:
"Minty? Is that a name on Midgard?" Arella asks projecting a humorous confusion over the comms. "I am Arella - pleased to meet you." She scratches her pointy ear. Then Mon-El breaks in to the apartment. Shje's probably not the biggest priority at that point. The explosives are disabled. But Arella not knowing this crushes the remote insuring it cannot be used. Time to return to tracking the convoy.

Mon-El has posed:
Ugh, why are these criminals always so dumb? "Fine, guess we'll do this the hard way." Any ammunition, including the one from the suppressed pistol, that come Lar's way seems to have no effect on him whatsoever. So he lets them empty as many magazines as they would on him, before rushing each of them and attempting to relieve them of all their weapons. Those he succeeds in confiscating, he crumples into a big ball of metal as if they were made of aluminum foil.

And then there is also apparently some other guy attacking, too. Lar doesn't recognize him from anywhere, and therefore isn't sure of what his intentions are. But he tries to avoid causing any unnecessary harm.

Snake Eyes has posed:
The guys on the other side of the comms system don't seem to respond to Arella. She does hear one of them saying with fear in his voice, "Oh crap."

The would be bandit who fires the round into Mon-El's face says, "Oh crap." Then he follows it up with, "Split, guys! I'll hold him off." And he attempts to do so, unloading his weapon at the hero's head. The other fellows turn and run, heading out the front door to where their getaway vehicles await. They don't get very far before the superhero has disarmed them, however, and they're left staring at empty hands. Doesn't stop them more than a moment before they take off trying to run again.

Upstairs in the apartment the machine gunner gets kicked in the face and rendered unconscious but his partner managed to turn and protect himself at the last moment, taking a blow on the forearms instead of the temple. As the sniper tries to let out a shout Snake Eyes sticks the suppressor on his weapon into the man's mouth, knocking out a couple of teeth and causing him to make a soft, panicked 'mmmm' noise. The suppressor is removed from the crook's orifice a moment before Snake's other hand comes up in an uppercut and knocks the dude out cold.

Snake Eyes has posed:
As of now the convoy is just about to enter the area in front of the apartment building. It's moving with traffic, all three vehicles maintaining very little distance from one another so that other cars can't get between them. There's a driver and a passenger riding shotgun in the front seats of each vehicle. Others may be riding in back as well.

Arella Despana has posed:
Arella abandons the rooftop to follow the convoy. Whatever else is going on it does not concern her. The sign of action in the apartment across the way another irrelevant distraction. The convoy is the main game and she goes back to leaping rooftop to roofftop to see the convoys destination.

Mon-El has posed:
'Oh crap' is right. Lar almost smirks at their reaction. Every time. Seriously, do these people -ever- learn? As the man unload his weapon at the alien's head, the bullets just sort of crumple against his body and fall to the floor.

When they try to escape, he flies after them, easily catching up to them. "Oh no you don't!" As they pass a construction site, he picks up an unused piece of piping and aims to use it to bind them all to a barren piece of framework inside the unfinished building. If these people are all just normal Terrans...well, they'd have a real hard time outrunning someone who can fly as fast as Superman.

Snake Eyes has posed:
The crooks are all down and out. Or bound up by a metal pipe. Considering how well they'd planned this heist it's easy to imagine they're a bit embarrassed by how quickly they were stopped. Rather impressively, no gunfire was heard and most people are wondering why there's a bunch of dudes being attached to some framing in a construction site.

Upstairs in the apartment Snake Eyes quickly types something on his cell phone like gizmo and messages it to his handlers as he approaches the window and looks out of it. Seeing some sort of ultra fast being tie people up with a pipe comes as a surprise to him, but the ninja takes it in stride. Things were already handled, it appeared.

The convoy rolls past the apartment building without slowing down. Some of the guys in the passenger seats of the armored cars look out their window to see a bunch of people restrained with a piece of steel and radio it in to one another. The vehicles do not slow down.

Arella Despana has posed:
Arella keeps pace with the convoy. It's destination is the only bit of information she hopes to glean again at the moment. Mon-El might be able to track her if he is looking for her. She is slightly standofffish only trying to keep the convoy in view moving at a flagrantly superhuman pace.

Mon-El has posed:
Sure, Lar had to hand to them, they -had- been very well prepared. But not for -this-. He dusts himself off a bit after making sure the authorities have been alerted to the location of the criminals and their attempted violence against the convoy.

Speaking of which, as it passes by he attempts to use his enhanced vision to peer into it and see just what it was they had been after.

He notices Arella at this point, and though she hasn't made a move yet, she might be a cause for concern. Definitely moving faster than a regular Terran could. Hm...well, couldn't hurt to ask, right? He approaches her. "Sooo...you're not planning on doing the same thing those other guys were, right?"

Snake Eyes has posed:
The armored cars contained a variety of items, looking like they might have been moving the contents of an estate in one truck, a bunch of money in the second and then, strangely enough, scientific equipment in the third. They're unaware they're being followed but the vehicles end up at a secure sight protected by guards with rifles and even a mounted machine gun. It's labeled as Chrome Shield Security on the sign outside the building's fences.

Snake Eyes starts to head downstairs to try to track the remaining criminals when he's alerted to the authorities being notified via his communications device. Knowing that things have somehow been cleaned up he quickly returns to the stairwell of the apartment building to attempt to leave via the rooftops.

Arella Despana has posed:
The woman tracking the convoy has blue grey skin, pointy ears and large emerald eyes. She doesn't skip a beat following the convoy. Her eyes narrow as she regards Mon-El. "A Kryptonian," she observes. "That explains the lack of support for the spotter on the rooftop. You took them out." If Mon-El can place a label on her she's obviously a Svartalfar - a Dark Elf. Probably even rarer than a Kryptonian after their conflict with the Asgardians. "None of your business Kryptonian," the Dark ELf says as she keeps moving.

Mon-El has posed:
Lar groans, facepalming. Of -course-. Every time. "Ugh, I'm -so- not a Kryptonian! They're all snobs." he says indignantly. "Well except for Kara and Kal," he admits.

Huh, a Svartalfar, huh? Not many of those around. "So, what's a Dark Elf doing here on Earth?" he asks, despite the fact that she -just- said what she was doing wasn't his business. "Mmmmkay well if you start trying to hurt people or steal people's things then I'm gonna have to hurt -you- like I hurt those other guys. Don't say I didn't warn you."

Arella Despana has posed:
"I crashed into Canada and destroyed what was left of my ship. So I have no ship. I have no homeworld. I have nowhere else to go." Arella is blunt she does offer the ghost of a smile to Mon-El. An odd expression for a Dark Elf. They are usually well - dour and dark. The convoy reraches it's destination and as mystriously as she appeared the Dark Elf turns tail. "Alas looks like we must part ways," and she is gone unless Mon-El wishes to hassle her further.
