Cast of Characters: X-Man, Beryl

X-Man has posed:
There has been quiet noises from withing Mutant Town as it's called. Ever since the first Sentinel appeared in the skies overhead, there has been a general feeling of fear and worry. So much so that some mutants have gone into a complete shut in and not coming out of their homes at all.

Others don't have as much fear. One of those is Nate, who has taken to the streets - after working at the outreach for the morning, he's coming out of the soup kitchen - preparing to start to make deliveries to those that can't make it to the church for a meal.

Beryl has posed:
An apparently-hman-looking woman walks down the street, looking around. She looks at the soup kitchen, frowning. The furnace was thrashed - and not even working. Deciding to try to be a hero in a small way, she walks over to it - and without any care of property rights, lays hands on it. It starts to shimmer green like her hands as she starts working on fixing it. It's a primitive machine relatively speaking - and within a few minutes it starts working again, sending blessed warmth into the cold building. She nods slowly as she looks it over, smiling. IT was just some damaged conduits and frayed wires.

X-Man has posed:
About to enter the building that Minoke was approaching, Nate pauses as he takes in the green-skinned woman. Of course, he has seen much worse in the neighborhood, all things considered. As he rings the bell to summon down the small family that lives there, he watches as Minoke fixes the heater with no effort at all, really and his brows go up.

"I don't think I've met a technopath before." he offers to the young woman, as the mother of the family answers the door. She looks fairly normal, and there's words of gratitude as she accepts the meal. Nate makes sure to add. "Try your heat, I think it just got repaired."

Beryl has posed:
Minoke smiles softly. "I have a talent with metal and electricity. There was a broken valve and frayed wires - easy enough to fix." She ponders. "Not used to letting my actual skin color show..." she murmurs, looking down at her hands. "But it's always takes more concentratoin to hold a different form - I figured here - nobody would mind."

X-Man has posed:
"You are beautiful as you are." Nate responds. After passing over the meals and the woman retreats inside to feed her family, he glances skywards with a frown. "Everyone's scared." he says with a small sigh and a shake of his head, before his attention returns. "Noone is going to take exception with how you look. There is nothing to hide. At least not from each other." Now that he's looking at her, she may notice the slight glow of his left eye.

Beryl has posed:
Minoke nods. "Yeah - I'm not from around here. But I figured I could come by and help. Can you show me anything metallic or electric that needs to be fixed? I have a strong affinity with those two things - but my skillset doesn't extend to other materials." She smiles softly. "My name is Minoke."

X-Man has posed:
For a moment, things feel weird in Nate's head. Usually by now he's gotten some kind of read off of the young woman standing before him, before another part of him picks up on her programming - but it's all alien to him. That's what she meant. Reaching up to rub at the bridge of his nose, he gives a grunt of his breath. "I'm Nate. Nice to meet you." he offers to her, before considering. "I'm usually working with those that live here directly, but I'm sure we can find someone to speak to if you want to help out. Most people are staying indoors with the deployment of the Sentinels."

Beryl has posed:
Minoke ponders. "What exactly are Sentinels?" she finally asks. "I heard the name - but is not sure what they are." She blinks as she gazes at you. "Are you okay? That facial expression generally denotes a headache or extreme concentratoin." She starts idly picking up aluminum cans as they walk by, as she looks around for another project, and the cans kinda melt together into a molten glob of aluminum.

X-Man has posed:
"Sentinels. They were sold to the government to try to patrol the mutant populations. After some vids came out with them attacking mutants, there's fear about them." Nate admits as he feels that gaze on him, before he hears her secondary comment and waves it off. "Happens sometimes. Powers give me headaches. I just need to get some Tylenol." When she starts to melt cans into a glob, he chuckles. "You have some rather unique abilities. But you said you are not from around here?"

Beryl has posed:
Minoke smiles softly as she murmurs, "I'm not from this world." She shrugs. "And... I'm a bit different than others too." She sighs softly as she picks up more cans, gathering them up. "Tell me about these Sentinels - from the news reports I've heard they're some kind of constructs, right?" She sighs. "They give us all a bad name."

X-Man has posed:
"They're mechanical. They're not like the ones from where I came from.. I mean, it's the same idea." Nate responds as he chuckles. "You're not the first alien I've met, Minoke. Though you might be the first alien construct." he responds, before he gives a nod of his head. "They are machines. Which means they can't distinguish between right and wrong. Just between human and mutant. You're not a machine.. you're an intelligence." Finally, his mind puts all the pieces together. "Do you mind if I try to address you more directly? I find it's impolite to try to talk to someone's mind without their permission."

Beryl has posed:
Minoke just blinks, stepping back. "What... do you mean?" she asks, gazing at you. She sounds a bit nervous. "Directly? I do not understand." She finally locks onto a water recycling plant that has several leaky pipes and gazes over in that direction.

X-Man has posed:
<<Like this.>> Nate speaks directly to your mind, just the gentlest of touches, before his attention drifts towards yours towards the water recycler. "If you can help with that, I'm sure they would appreciate it." he says, not speaking to her head anymore in case that made her uncomfortable.

Beryl has posed:
Minoke just blinks. "What?" she finally asks. "How... is that possible? I know that several mutants are telepathic but... how are you doing this?" she finally asks, sounding even MORE confused. Not uncomfotable - just confused. "Please explain..."

X-Man has posed:
"It's just something.. I can do." Nate responds with a shrug of his shoulders as he lowers his head a little. "I did not mean to cause you discomfort." he admits as he lifts his eyes back to meet hers. "I'm not exactly 'most mutants'."

Beryl has posed:
Minoke nods. "Fine. But... it's fine if it's an emergency situation and you need to talk to me in a way nobody else can hear... but verbal communication is better." She smiles softly. "Fixing leaking pipes is easy. But I'd need the pressure to be relieved for about fifteen minutes... while I shape the metal, it's in molecular flux and it'd cause issues if the water was under pressure." She then asks, "Quick question... there's one mutant I've heard about. I think he goes by Magneto. Can he really control metal? I... that sounds rather scary."

X-Man has posed:
"He can. Where I am from, he was a hero." Nate responds, before he considers the pipes and the girl. She wants to help, and he's willing to try. "I can shut down the pipes and there's a release valve for the pressure. "I can take care of that, if you take care of the repairs?"

Beryl has posed:
Minoke nods as she raises up. "Yeah. Should we tell someone we're going to shut this off? It could affect some people's water for a short time... I dunno." She ponders, clicking her tongue as she studies it. "I can patch it - but those pipes are in bad shape. They might need to be replaced soon."

X-Man has posed:
Nate considers for a moment, and then sends a telepathic alert to everyone in the building that their water is going to be shut off and that there will be a short inconvience. "Then we will do what we can to help until we know what repairs the owner of the building can do."

Beryl has posed:
Minoke nods as she waits. "Let me know. I don't need the liens empty - just not so pressurized." She sighs softly as she gets in position by the worst of the leaks by the ground, kneeling by it, looking over at you.

X-Man has posed:
"They know." Nate says after a few moments. And then he closes his eyes, turning off the water to release the pressure from his, his hands closing as he uses his telekinesis to keep the water at bay so that Minoke can do her work.

After about ten minutes of her work, Nate feels the warm trickle of blood from his nose as he reaches up to wipe at it. His left eye glows brightly as he holds the water at bay.

Beryl has posed:
Minoke does fix all the leaks - it took fifteen minutes to fix all the flaws. She then looks at you. "Ummmm.... you are leaking..." she finally mutters as she lowers herself to the ground - and promptly trips, misjudging it and cracks the sidewalk. "Ow." She rises up. "Wait - are you holding that water back with TELEKINESIS?" she finally asks. "That can't be good for you."

X-Man has posed:
The cement is cracked, and Nate winces at the young woman, coming over to help you to your feet, his hand wrapping around yours if you offer it to him. His other hand continues to hold back his own nosebleed. "It will only be a couple of moments. It happens sometimes when I use my powers." A lot more as of late, but she doesn't need to know that. "Yes. I have a pretty.. varied... power set."

Beryl has posed:
Minoke nods as she declines your hand up. "Sorry - but unless your 'gifts' include super-strength... let's just say I'm a _bit_ heavier than I look." She then watches as the water flows back through, nodding. "Much better. I guess my skillset's varied too. As long as it involves metal or electricity."

X-Man has posed:
"I'm a bit stronger than I look." Nate responds with a laugh. But he doesn't seem offended that you declined the hand up. "Thank you for your help. I'm sure they appreciated it." he says with a smile towards her as he finishes cleaning up his nosebleed.

Beryl has posed:
Minoke nods. "It's a small thing... but I was encouraged to do more with my talents. To try to be a hero. I have something I want to do. And... well... I need to prove that I am not just the goofball droid who doesn't know how to 'human'." She shrugs. "But... at least being here - I don't have to hide what I am. Normally I change my skin color but it takes some concentration. And sometimes I lose the form."

X-Man has posed:
"You did just fine. Being a hero isn't about doing the big things. The small things mean a lot as well. Perhaps more." Nate points out before he smiles slightly. "I have yet to see you being a goofball." he comments, before he nods. "You should not have to hide. I know that it must be done - but as I said - you are attractive as you are now. Is this your true form?"

Beryl has posed:
Minoke nods. "Yes. It is my default shape. Well... my default solid shape." She smiles faintly. "It's the one hard-coded into me." She ponders. "I was designed to be able to adapt to the local populace. But it's not a perfect shape. And... sometimes I have issues with my form. My heart's damaged."

X-Man has posed:
"Your heart?" Nate asks, considering the word. "It's not the same that I believe it would be in a human - I do not sense a blood flow in you." he points out as he finishes straightening himself up. "What do you you mean by damaged?"

Beryl has posed:
Minoke sighs softly. "My heart-core - the center of my consciousness. While I was in space, traveling to... somewhere... an ion storm struck my ship and damaged my core. I've had some issues that could be seen as 'brain damage'. Mr. Stark and JARVIS are working on a treatment plan though."

X-Man has posed:
"Then I am glad that someone is there that can possibly repair you, Minoke." Nate responds with a nod of his head. "I should not keep you any further if you have other things that you need to take care of."

Beryl has posed:
Minoke nods. "NOt really. They told me it'd be a few weeks beofre they can plan it. It'll be a delicate thing for I'm made of a few elements they haven't heard of. Well - my core. My body's just titanium that I turned into nanites."

X-Man has posed:
"I see. It's.. interesting." Nate says. "I hope that it goes well. But I don't see you as brain damaged." he points out to her. "Thank you for your help once again with the repairs.'
