Changeling: So We Stole a Plane...
Date of Scene: 09 May 2019
Location: Medical Ward - The Triskelion
Synopsis: The team from the Cuba mission returns to the Triskelion, they report to May, and get ready to find Zola's base and bring his plans to an end.
Cast of Characters: Hawkeye (Barton), Winter Soldier, Quake, Melinda May, Jemma Simmons, Nyx

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
The flight from Cuba was relatively uneventful, mostly thanks to Clint's calling ahead from the quinjet to warn US Air Defence and SHIELD of big incoming jet (with broken comms) he had following him. Things get sorted out in the air, where to put the plane what medical response they'd need for Skye and the frozen prisoners in cryopods in the plane's cargo hold, so by the time they land things swing easily into motion and the team, plus the cryopods are taken to the Trisk's medical bay while other agents secure and study the plane, which looks a little like the child of a modern stealth bomber and Red Skull's Valkyrie.

Making his way into medical behind the four cryopods and the others Clint takes up a place by the door, sending word to May they'd arrived, before moving to stand next to Skye.

Winter Soldier has posed:
Buck's got bandages on the crease in his side, already. Supersoldiers heal fast, so he's not bad off at all. A little pale, a little sore, a lot worried about Skye, who he's also attending. The adrenaline of battle has worn off, and now he's quiet and dour again.

Quake has posed:
Skye comes to well before they make it back to the Trisk, not that she's of any use to anyone. She's still dripping droplets of blood off and on from her nose, but it's not a full on nosebleed anymore, and sitting upright leaves her a pale shade of greyish-green. Despite all that, she protests the entire time that she's okay.

Her protests continue on landing. And when she can't walk a straight line down the Trisk hallways. They come with a grimaced and bitten back yelp when she forgets herself and grabs a wall to prevent herself from stumbling when a wave of dizziness hits. They come especially hard and fast when she sights May, Skye straightening up and trying to make normal - a move that doesn't go well as the fast shift in posture sends another wave of dizzniess over her.

In short, while she might lie, and lie well under normal circumstances, in this one, her body is not playing along with her.

Melinda May has posed:
May arrives promptly enough because of Clint's word to her, and she's got Lili with her though on a leash just in case. Upon seeing Skye trying to make a break for it, she merely stops and raises an eyebrow at the younger agent.

If Bucky is within eyeshot, she lets go of the leash to let Lili go to him unhindered.

"I am not doing a debrief with you until you are back in that bed, Skye."

Jemma Simmons has posed:
The medical ward may not necessarily be the explicit domain of one biochemist, but that doesn't stop Jemma from being present when the team arrives back. And...judging from the expression of horror and concern, there would be few people that would be able to stop her...including the assistant director present.

"Honestly, you think that trying to bypass me is going to work? You shouldn't be up at all, much less walking." There is a tone of annoyance, but mostly...it is concern. A massive amount of it.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint low whistles as the cryotubes are set up against one of the walls of the room. One of the occupants is upside down, (long story there) the rest look very much upright and asleep. "Thaaat's not creepy," he says, before giving a nod to Bucky, "You okay man?"

As for Skye, when she stumbles he's there to help her, trying to reach for her and avoid her arms. "C'mon, not in a place to fighr May right now, may as well lay down and get this done, right?" he offers with a smile.

Jemma is given a nod of greeting. "We brought you and Fitz presents," he says. "Fitz's one is down in the hanger."

Quake has posed:
Skye is all grumbly protests - and she didn't even learn any of them from Clint who had his own frequent flyer miles card for midical... and for trying to escape it.

"Fine." Her clipped tones say it's anything but as she goes to wipe beneath her nose and winces. Because arms. Her wrists in particular bearing the brunt of the damage.

She tries to take her seat again and finds she can't. Not without using her hands, and that's right out of the question until they've been stabilized. Even within her pressure gloves, she's feeling the damage now that the adrenaline has worn off. "Little help here?" Quieter, "Please."

Winter Soldier has posed:
Lili goes to Buck's side, and he goes down on one knee with somewhat less than his usual grace to ruffle her ears and accept lickings and cuddles. Her ears are back - human smells like stress and blood and that's just not good. Without looking away from the big, soft brown eyes fixed on his own, Buck says, "She over-exerted herself and passed out." Tone entirely even, neither scolding nor sympathetic.

Once he's satisfied that Lili has confirmed her human is okay, he gets up again to accept the attentions of medical. It's only a bullet crease, barely more than a scratch.

Melinda May has posed:
May watches as Skye is settled back into the bed she'd clearly abandoned, then her eyes flick over toward Bucky for a moment in an assessing manner before seeming satisfied and doing the same with Clint and accepting his current situation even more quickly as he seems the least affected of the group. When Skye actually asks for help, she immediately looks to Clint.

Barnes, please have a seat." Maybe there's a sofa-like arrangement where he can settle and Lili can crawl on top of him like she suspects the dog would do the moment there's an opportunity. She's not going to start the debrief until everyone is settled.

Jemma Simmons has posed:
"Fantastic, Agent Barton. I am sure that Fitz would be estatic." There is no doubt of that, as Leo is probably already on site, bouncing in place like a giddy little schoolboy. Jemma, on the other hand, has shifted to her own brand of emergency handling mode. Which...is oddly similar to May's demeanor. Straight logic and no nonsense. Which is why Jemma has frightened away the rest of the medical staff with a single look before turning to tend to Skye herself.

The gauntlets remain on, for just the act of watching Skye try to sit was enough indication to see that those are really the only things keeping her wrists from shattering in the first place. There is no reprimands. At least, not yet. Those will come later. For now, it is just Jemma working to stabilize Skye's arms...and literally pushing people aside that get in her way.

Nyx has posed:
Sam isn't snooping on SHIELD systems but she did get word from someone that Skye was back from the field and when she poked a bit that there was a good bit of excitement from the hangers to medical.

Anyhow spies in training are supposed to be resourceful and perhaps nosey within reason right, also Sam figures she will get told off if she crosses any lines.

So yeah the young woman makes her way to medical and pauses to stare at the cryotubes. "Woah.. what the hell are those?" sort of to the universe, not really directing it at anyone in particular.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint for his part falls silent and lets the experts do their work, but when Nyx wanders in and asks about the cryotubes being hooked into power, Clint can't help but answer, "Not sure about the first three," he begins. "But the upside down one is an object lesson in why you don't try to punch Black Widow," he says with the grin, having been caught up on the story while in flight.

As for Fitz and the jet, Clint nods, "I bet, anyhow, hopefully there's some good intel on that thing..." he begins before he realizes the one thing he didn't find out, "Wait, we got the files right?"

Zola was going to be /pissed/ the jet was missing, which might mean they need to speed up their time table.

Quake has posed:
"Hey, I did not over-exert myself!" Skye's protest is pretty useless. She did too. And even if she didn't, and it were only a factor of the new, it's a moot point when she's pretty much taken herself out of the game for at least the next day or three.

Her AiT showing up gets a mild scowl, Skye opening her mouth to say something when she self-edits, realizing she sooooo would have been here on the tails of finding out something like this was going down that May was involved in. She didn't need May's uplifted brow to tell her she was not only being silly, but a hypocrit, so the woman shuts her mouth on that.

Skye, as it happens, is NOT a very good patient. Nobody is surprised by this news.

"Someone had to stop the broadcasting," she tells May, knowing that things were out of order. "We got both the data and the plane. Those things were in the plane. I don't imagine Zola is goping to be happy, but it tells us he's been successful. And likely that he's running out of material and going to be deseperate to get his hands on more."

Winter Soldier has posed:
"I needed a new bed," Buck deadpans, as he sits, just as ordered. Peeling off his shirt to let the medical folks inspect the wound on his side. Oddly unshy for him, but everyone here knows what he is. Let them look, if they care to. Lili doesn't climb into his lap, but she's pressing herself against his leg. Then he relents, "Cryogenic storage tube. They used to keep me in one, between missions. It's one reason I look the age I do."

Skye gets a patient look, but Buck doesn't try to argue with her.

Melinda May has posed:
May has stayed far enough back that she's not anywhere near getting in Jemma's way, though she does follow Samantha to make sure the recruit doesn't try to mess with those cryo tubes. She seems okay with the young woman being here, though. Maybe that's because of the topic at hand.

"Begin at the beginning for me, please. I can surmise that your flight to the target went smoothly." So they can start with what they did upon arriving. She's okay with that.

Jemma Simmons has posed:
The cryotubes do not get a second glance from Jemma. She knows they are there and that they are not going anywhere. What she does do is stabilizes Skye's arms, ensures that they are not going to just crumble into dust. There might be some tsking...but nothing verbal as the doctor does her thing.

And then, only after stabilization has occurred, does Jemma do something slightly unexpected. She...pulls out a tablet and taps on the screen. The tablet itself is not connected to any network, wirelessly or otherwise, but what it does do is seemingly connect to the gauntlets on Skye's hands. It swiftly becomes apparent that *somebody* added Bluetooth capability to the gauntlets and that Jemma is pulling down data as to just what forces exactly were being exerted.

A little trick...that makes it easier for monitoring. It is certainly apparent that the science twins knew what they were doing when they made the gauntlets.

Quake has posed:
What Jemma learns: The forces Skye put on her arms would not have been sufficient for the damage what was done were she to ahve employed them at normal amplitudes, or frequencies. What the data shows is that once she found a certain signal she increased its strength over time and held it, while the bones in her arms bore the brunt of the resulting pressures of that, until a matching outside frequency disappeared, and her own peaked and also disappeared. Her life signals indicating she'd passed out at this time.

Nyx has posed:
Sam wanders closer to the tubes being hooked up and squints through the frosted glass not touching or messing with them at all "It's kind of primitive." which honestly just pops out of her mouth, and a good bet is that that is Nyx's opinion not just Sam's.

Though now she is turning to study Skye before coming closer with a it of a worried expression. Watching the Doctor on hand tsk and do her examination.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint blinks. "Primitive?" he asks about the cryopods. They seemed high tech to him, but then maybe that wasn't just Sam talking there...

As for what happened, "Flight in was fine," he turns to Skye to say as an aside. "You passed your certs by the way," then back to May. "We landed and we decided to have the team infiltrate the base under the guise of Winter Soldier and his captives. The guy on comms seemed to buy it and they were escorted into the base," he says before he leaves it for one of the others to take over on that part.

"For my part, they sent a couple of guys onto the quinjet to take me out, but I took care of them, I dropped them off with security when I landed, but on the mission, when they were down I got back behind the controls of the quinjet and waited for a signal from the infiltration team."

Quake has posed:
"Oh, yeah," Skye smirks. "We were doing that, werne't we?"

Telling May, "Didn't make anyone throw up on the landing even. It was a trap, by the way." Letting others continue the tale while her arms are checked out, Skye just as interested in what Jemma was doing (and had done) as Jemma seems to be.

Winter Soldier has posed:
"It was a trap," Buck says, in his flattest voice. "They pretended to buy the ruse to let us in. Tried to take us on the plane. We had one hostile with a portal power, one apparently invulnerable," A nodof his head for the cryotube with the upside down subject in it. "We got away, though." With a live scientist prisoner, already on his way to the security level. Lili sighs.

Melinda May has posed:
May be watching Jemma and Skye almost entirely now, she's still paying attention to everyone in the room, mentally noting Sam's reaction to the pods, Clint's portion of the debrief, Jemma's puttering around Skye's gauntlets, and the unison 'It's a trap' from Skye and Bucky. That last one elicits a raised eyebrow.

"I see. I expect the official report will have more detail than that. Skye, do you want to go through the collected intel, or have the analysts work on it?" She's pretty sure she already knows the answer, but she's giving the hacker the option anyway. And she fully plans on assigning someone to help her with computer wrangling while her arms heal. Bucky can likely type readily enough, and it'll keep him in place while his own injury heals. Over the next few hours, anyway.

Jemma Simmons has posed:
There is a glance back to Skye as Jemma scrolls through the data the gauntlets retrieved for her. "What? You expected that we just let you run off without a viable method of analytical data retrieval? Please, we know better than that." With that, there might be a ghost of a smile, but only because Jemma knows that Skye will be fine.

Sore, but fine.

"So, do you want me to tell you the exact time you passed out and why, or were you saving that little detail for Director May as a special surprise?" Well...someone is snippy tonight. It's what happens when one makes Jemma worry.

Nyx has posed:
Okay that statement from Simmons makes Samantha cringe a little bit, yeah she does not have her expression schooled like a super cool spy or anything.

That said she offers helpfully and maybe distractingly (probably not) "I could help with the intel." look at her being a helper.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"We were," Clint smiles to Skye.

Then about the raid, Clint for his part, chimes in with, "Not much more for me to add to my end of the report, other than opening up with the quinjet on that base to get the plane out." He gives a shrug, even if his eyes grow a little distant thinking about what that autocannon did to the opposition.

"But let me know what you need, boss, and I'll do it," he says.

Quake has posed:
Skye murmurs at Jemma, "You can do that?" Of course she can. Telling May, "I was able to cut through the traps Zola had on the systems there. He'll know it was me." Something about the way she says that suggests she *wants* Zola to know it was her. Is counting on it in fact.

"Barnes suggested we steal the plane. Or asked. Maybe I was the one who suggested because I agreed. I don't know. It felt like maybe we could use it to learn more, and we wouldn't have to fight our way out."

"Should have figured he had more traps in the system. I was beating them, but he'd had time to get an alert and was remotely powering the plane itself. So I tried a thing. It was either giong to work or fail spectacularly."

Explaining, knowing that Jemma will confirm, "I matched the frequency that the computers were talking to one another on, and then blew the transponders by amplifying the signal past the point they could carry without damage." Which, in laymans terms pretty much means she was damaging herself, too. She'll likely get a finer point on that one given the nature of her abilities, but it does explain the hairline fractures, the nosebleeds, and the passing out. Why she's still dizzy.

Winter Soldier has posed:
There's a grunt from Barnes, at that. Apparently he's decided to lapse into Winter's muteness. Tired and in pain, perhaps....or embarrrassed he was the one to offer the hare-brained plan. Whichis when Lili decides to take up the thread, putting her two cents in by offering those warbling groans dogs sometimes use. It earns her a startled look from Bucky.

Melinda May has posed:
Samantha and Clint's offers to help get a nod from May. "Clint, please bring Skye's usual computer rig here for her. Miss Twining, do you think you could create and maintain a secure connection between Skye's computer and where the retrieved intel is being stored?" She knows the recruit might need to directed on where to start looking, but from what she's heard from Skye, the kid will be more than able to handle creating the link once she's found the intel.

Lili's vocalization gets May's attention, but does deter her from proceeding with handing out assignments here and now. "Barnes, you're going to be Skye's hands for her." Because if Jemma's tsking is any indication, Skye trying to so much as reach to scratch her nose just might make the biochemist unleash a metric tonne of snark on the hacker.

Nyx has posed:
Samantha considers the orders from Deputy Director May. Create a secure link between Skye's computer and where ever the intel is being stored. Okay how would one... oh. Okay Nyx seems sure that it has this easily under control.

"Um sure we can definitely do that no problem at all." which is true, it will be no problem at all for the AI and Sam.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
At May's orders Clint nods, "Sure thing," he says then looks to Skye. "Where's the rig?" he asks. It felt like an odd question, like asking someone where they're arm was, or asking him where his bow was; Skye was rarely without the thing after all.

Unless she snuck it in there, once he has the location he goes to get the equipment.

Quake has posed:
Clint is given detailed instructions. And no, she didn't sneak it in. She'd barely been able to walk herself in when they'd gotten here. Lord knows she wouldn't have been able to type. It had been the least of her worries at this time. She gives May a shrewd look, as if to say 'I know what you did here'. Because while Samantha *had* been given a task, had any of them stopped to think, it was likely the trainee could have handled both the secure line, and Skye's needs.

Skye knew full well May had just pigeon holded them all - Samantha with a task to distract from what she could also be doing. Bucky with an assignment that would not only keep him busy, but obligate him to do what he wouldn't for himself. And Skye, knowing full well what May had done, and why, being given the choice of speaking up and destroying the necessary of it, or accepting what was necessary.

Given she had hurt herself as badly as she had, it also meant Skye had to accept help - something her stubbornly proud little nature rarely allowed her to do.

Winter Soldier has posed:
"All right,," Buck says, quietly. "Whatever needs doing. And don't look like that, Johnson, I'm good at typing. Steve was a fucking stickler for paperwork and they don't give you a secretary when you're a sergeant."

Melinda May has posed:
May good enough to not let it show that she's pleased with how she managed to dole out the marching orders and Skye -- while she clearly caught what just happened -- didn't ruin it by complaining. Instead, she just bosses a few people around to get a pair of comfortable-ish chair in the room along with a rolling table so Barnes can sit where Skye can see what he's doing, and Nyx can also be comfortable while she acts as an unhackable secure wifi.

Sometimes it's actually good to be the boss.
