Date of Scene: 27 June 2019
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: People hit up Club Evolution to unwind.
Cast of Characters: Elixir, Cypher, Cannonball, Shadowcat, Marvel Girl

Elixir has posed:
Josh is leaning against the bar inside Evolution. In skinny dark blue jeans, white sneakers and a plain green shirt, he is talking with his ex-Samantha, a 2026 Xavier grad. They are lauging and having a drink. She gets up, side hugs Josh and walks over to a couple of her girlfriends.

The club is not very crowded tonight. The three-armed DJ is on the tables and a few people are dancing. Looks like mostly locals tonight.

Cypher has posed:
All Doug really had to do was take a look at her, and he could tell. He didn't *say* anything, but he knew.

Then, at about 9:00, he knocked on her bedroom door, and was dressed to the nines, with his dancing sneaks on and his skinny pants and his Lila Cheney/Dazzler Cosmic Tour t-shirt that's in Shi'ar, his hair combed. "Hey. I booked us a limo and I'm taking you to Club Evolution and then to the best Chinese restaurant in New York. Get dressed and meet me downstairs?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie comes walking out of the managers office. He is dressed in a nice pair of slacks, and a blue dress shirt." He will walk over and talk to the bartender nodding to him and smiling "Good good." Looking over to josh and Samantha he will offer a smile.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty has been a bit distracted of late, and it took her a few moments to call over for whoever it was to come in. She's sitting on the bed looking at her laptop when she sees it's Doug. It takes her a few seconds for it to sink in what he's saying. Finally she grins a little bit. "Alright, meet you downstairs," she says.

She showed up a bit later outside, wearing a skirt and a blouse that leaves her shoulders bare, and took a few minutes with her hair as well. She grins to Doug and just shakes her head, and he will know she's thinking about his ability to read people. "Thank you," she tells him, and will follow him over to the limo when it's there, and make chit chat on the drive to the club.

Elixir has posed:
Josh watches Samantha walk away and grins at Sam. He moves over toward him.

"The one's that get away," he grins. "How's it going? You doing an interview up there?" Josh asks with an upnod toward the manager's office.

Cypher has posed:
In the Limo, Doug is... chatty about his day. "So I've decided to come out." He says. "If I'm not open about being a mutant, and someone finds out, it might affect my credibility, so I have to put it out there. Besides, it drives home the point about how *serious* I am, you know? And it kind of feels good, like I was hiding a part of who I am. Now, I'm not hiding anything, really."

Then he gets out a bottle of champagne, winks, and pours two glasses. "À nous!"

Whey they pull up to the club, he helps Kitty out, and offers his arm to take her inside. "Oh, hey. It's Elixir! I haven't seen him in..."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty's expression make her thoughts an open book for Doug. She's trying to be supportive of him, and is happy that revealing himself as a mutant is making him happy. But she's also concerned for him, though she does her best not to let it show too much. "Well, you have my full support," she tells him with a smile. She takes his arm as they walk inside. "Wow, haven't been by here in awhile," she comments as she looks around.

As Doug draws her attention to Elixir, Kitty's face lights up. She grins to Doug, nodding that direction and heads over to greet him. "Josh, really great to see you out and about," she says to him warmly. "How are you doing?"

Marvel Girl has posed:
Rachel isn't always the looking for fun sort, but the way things have been lately, she's at least looking for places to keep an eye on. And a place like this seems a likely enough target for people who are looking for trouble with mutants. And if she can have a little fun in the process, well...that's not the worst thing, right?

Rachel arrives in leather pants and a crimson tank top, hands in her pockets as she steps inside and takes a look around for either trouble or familiar faces.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and says "No, I did all the interviews earlier today, you needing a job, I could probably find something around here for you to do." He will tell the other man. He looks over to the folks coming in and waves his hand to them "Got Dazzler playing here soon, may need more security that night

Elixir has posed:
Josh smiles. "Thanks, I'm good though. They're rolling over my internship at Stark Biomed for at least another year. Be more fun working here though! I mean Dazzler? That'll be insane. And she's freaking /hot/."

He looks over when Doug and Kitty come up.

"Hey!" he says, claps Doug on the shoulder and offers Kitty a hug. "Damn..." he adds with a grin for her. "Doing great, you know me. How're you two?"

Josh notices Rachel come in with a mostly hidden appreciative grin. Then he looks back to the others. At a nearby table, Samantha turns her head sharply and glances first at Josh and then at Rachel, with a frown.

Cypher has posed:
"So I put in my paperwork to start college, Sam! I'm gonna blow through my prerequisites, then slay the LSATs and start my law degree." Doug says. "...Also, I made the choice to go public about being a Mutant. I'm done hiding."

Then he raises his eyebrows at Elixir. "Stark Biomed, huh? Weren't you voted 'Most likely to model haut couture made of bubble-wrap?'"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmms and looks over to Doug, and at his words, he will step up and offer the man a hug and says "Well you know you have a job here and if you need me to work on your hours will do it." He looks over to Josh, and says "You met Rachell? He will ask nodding to the red head. She is new out at the school." He will tell the other, and motions Rachel over to join them if she wants.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde grins and returns the hug to Josh, swaying him back and forth. "No more cuts and bruises for me?" she teases of his healing prowess. "Wow it's so great to have you back. Are you going to be up at the school a lot too? We can get a room for you if yours isn't still waiting," Kitty says. "I work in town too at Stark's tower. Have a room I stay in here and... I have a real fast transit back and forth," she tells him.

Kitty grins over to Doug. "You did!? That's great! I just know you're going to kill it. Now I have someone to sue that deli that won't give me an extra pickle when I ask for it," she teases.

Marvel Girl has posed:
Catching sight of Sam, Rachel raises a hand to wave to the group before she weaves her way through the the people. "Hey Sam, Kate," she greets the more familiar faces before she nods to Doug and Josh as well. Discussion of normal life events isn't exactly her bailiwick, but she listens, piecing things together.

Elixir has posed:
Josh snerks at Doug's comment. "Who doesn't want to see me in bubble wrap?" he jokes. "Good for you going for law school. You'll be devastating. First mutant Supreme Court judge."

He laughs at Kitty's hug. "You're with Stark, too? Does he just hire all of us? I'm planning on being around a lot more, things've settled down a bit with the internship and classes. But I'm still just living in my little apartment up the street.... Dunno, hadn't thought about it. What's your rapid transit secret?"

Josh glances back in Rachel's direction when Sam comments. "No, I haven't. How old is she?" he asks.

"Hey, I'm Josh. Heard you're new at the school?" he asks Rachel with a big grin, offering his hand.

Cypher has posed:
Doug asides, "Think *clean* thoughts, golden boy... note the red hair."

Then he throws a brotherly arm around Sam's shoulder, before he says, "Kitty, when they see me coming, they'll give you the whole damn pickle jar." Then he looks around, and says, "Aaaaaaaaaaanyway. I brought you here to take you *dancing*, Kitty!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks over and says "Rachel is old enough to come here, She and I came in here one night to listen tot he music, was part of what got me alking to Bobby about buying the place." He says and looks over Doug and Kitty "Make stevie proud."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty grins to Josh and says, "Apparently he does. Oh, have you met Rachel?" she asks, giving a warm look over to the girl who knows her as Kate. And Kitty answers to it just as readily. There are few possible nicknames for her that someone or another doesn't call her, anyway.

Kitty looks back to Josh and at the question she leans over to whisper in his ear, "A magic mirror on the wall." She grins to him then and turns to Doug. "Alright, Douglas, take me away!" she says, offering him her hand so he can lead her out to the dance floor. "Sam, play us something good!" She calls to him.

Marvel Girl has posed:
Judging by Rachel's smirk, it's too late for clean thoughts. Still, she takes the offered hand all the same. "In a manner of speaking," she replies. "Long, complicated story." There's time travel, alternate realities, derring do...although a lack of happy endings.

Hearing Doug ask Kitty to dance, though, brings a more genuine curve to her lips, one brow arching. "That's worth seeing," she chuckles, until something else Sam's said sinks in. "You bought the place?"

Elixir has posed:
"Always clean, I don't know what you're talking about Doug..." Josh protests with a grin to Doug and then puts on a mock-offended face as Kitty walks off. "That's it? You can't leave me hangin' with just that...." he shakes his head.

"I like long complicated stories. And leather pants, since you're rummaging around in there anyway," Josh says with a grin when he shakes Rachel's hand. Samantha turns again and gives Josh and Rachel the stink eye. He only catches up with Sam's comment after Rachel does.

"Wait, yeah. What she said."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks over to the DJ, and makes a motion for him to play a danceable toon. Lila Cheney I will steal your heart https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNcl3NMEXPo will start to play as he looks to Rachel and Josh. "No, I manage it Bobby bought the place. Talked to him and convinced him was a good way to make money and support the neighborhood since Quinten was not around.

Cypher has posed:
"Of course. Ask Sam to pick the tune." Doug says, before he murmurs "Next time he's on a date I'm gonna make sure they play 'Sam' during it and let him explain *THAT* one--" He takes Kitty's arm and leads her out onto the floor, as the song's snappy drumbeats start up.

"Oh everybody's got their *price*," He sings along, *sliding* across the floor, doing a sort of improvised Skanking dance to the 80s-styled rock tune, "But I do it all for the *thrillllllll*-"

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde lets Doug lead her out onto the dance floor. She grins at him. "Thanks, this was a nice surprise," she tells him. As the song starts up, Kitty grins over to Sam and flashes a thumps up at him. And then she starts dancing.

A lot of students her age know that Kitty spent most of her formative years taking dance classes, but not everyone does. Especially now she'd been gone from the school to England for a long stretch for college. She starts dancing with Doug, and while she's not doing anything too particularly exciting, getting Kitty dancing is like slipping a fish back into water. And she lets herself go.

Cypher has posed:
...People forget that they *met* in Stevie Hunter's dance class, and Doug is a man of hidden talents. Which is why when he's got room on the dance floor, he shows off by doing a cartwheel into a twisting motion, before he lands on his feet, steadying himself slightly before he crooks his finger at Kitty. "Come on, show them your moves."

Marvel Girl has posed:
"So what I'm hearing is that I don't have to 'convince,'" Rachel makes air-quotes with her fingers, "The bartender that I'm good for a drink." She winks, as if she's making light of it, but there's definitely part of that that isn't entirely in jest. Hey, sometimes a girl just needs a drink.

"Not rummaging," she adds belatedly to Josh, looking back with another small smirk. "Doesn't really take rummaging to pick that up. So, managing. Do you like it?" she asks Sam, looking around. "What's that mostly mean, on a day to day?"

Elixir has posed:
Josh chuckles at Rachel's quip and leans against the bar. He finishes off his beer and motions for another.

"And get her whatever she's having," he says and motions toward Rachel.

He turns so he can listen to Sam and Rachel and watch the dance floor.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and says "As long as you promise me if the tender cuts you off you listen, or if he says sleep in the office you do." He tells Rachel. "As for how we help, we make sure hire from the community, Ah have at least one if not two nights a week, open stage for local up coming bands. We got it set up so a percentage of the profits go to local charities, which helps Bobby's taxes. Then the art, Ah change it out every couple months letting students at the school or local artists to do murals that can be taken down and sold. We pay them up front and then if the art sells, we take the price we payed for it and then 10% on top. Ah mean gotta make both them and Berto money.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty does let loose a little bit more. She doesn't do anything overly grand, but she's fluid and graceful, dancing with the skill of a professional dancer. She dances with Doug, letting him lead her about, and basically looking good and making him look good as she does. Not that he doesn't need help there, he's got plenty of his own moves.

Kitty grins as the song moves on to another one. "I can't think of the last time I've been out dancing," she says. "And going to a hoe down with Rogue doesn't count, really," she adds with a warm laugh. She smiles over to Rachel at the bar and waves over to her before getting back into the next song.

Cypher has posed:
Doug says, somewhat breathlessly, "You deserve to be taken dancing all the time."

Then he returns to dancing. He always sems to know where to put his feet in relation to the person that he's dancing with. He knows how they're going to move. Of course, the next song is the Postmodern Jukebox version of 'Barbie Girl' and Doug starts to ham it up, trying to get a laugh.

Marvel Girl has posed:
"Don't drink and fly, got it," Rachel grins at Sam, crossing her arms loosely over her chest. "I feel like you could use that advice yourself. Might help with the collateral damage," she teases, freeing one hand to wave back to Kitty on the dance floor.

"I did not know they could do that," she muses, half to herself. "I'm not sure if I'm impressed or disturbed. Jack and coke," she adds over her shoulder to the bartender before she looks back to the others.

"Sounds like a solid business plan, Sam. You had any trouble since the Sentinel stuff?" she asks, taking another look around. "Doing all that good stuff for the community, seems like it could make the place a little bit of a target."

Elixir has posed:
Josh watches Kitty and Doug dance with a half grin.

"This place'll be twice as popular with Sam running it. Quire is such a dick," Josh comments to Rachel.

"I don't see his little jackboots kicking around," he observes to Sam. He pushes up off the bar at mention of Sentinels.

"I gotta get back," he says. "Nice meeting you Rachel. See you soon Sam."

Josh waves to Kitty and Doug. He stops at Samantha's little group, makes a couple of jokes and gets a couple laughs, then makes his way out.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods and says "Well you need something just let me know Josh, AH am staying at the mansion, but you can get through to me there or here either one works." He looks to Rachel "Ah mostly only crash into things when Ah want to these days." he blushes a bit at her, and says "If you want to dance, Ah can show ya a few moves."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty will stay out dancing late. She hasn't had a night out doing this in quite awhile. Not since the charity ball thrown by Selina Kyle, and even then there was only a little dancing before they left. There are trips to the bar for drinks, but then back out to the dance floor after they are consumed. Eventually she'll be ready to head home, with a great big smile on her face and in a better mood than when the night started.

Point, Doug.

Cypher has posed:
Doug, at the end is winded, but happy. "Dinner first." He says. "You'll love this place, absolutely NONE of the menu is in English. Don't worry, I'll tell you what everything is..."

Marvel Girl has posed:
"I...have complicated memories of dancing," Rachel says to Sam's offer, though she softens the words with a brief touch to his forearm. "Sorry, it's not you. Just not a place I want to go right now." The drink, however. She's all about that. She raises it in a salute to Josh as he departs, then takes a few swallows, leaving the glass already half empty when it touches the bartop again.

"Nice to see Kate having fun though," she says more quietly, taking a speculative look at Doug. If he should chance to look over, he'll no doubt be able to read that look. It's pretty similar to a guard dog assessing a potential threat.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks over to Rachel, and says "They are friends, back when we were young Doug and Illyana would stick up for her when the rest of us were not getting along with her. He aint going to hurt her, he would die to protect her." He rubs his chest as he says this and adds "Literaly."

Marvel Girl has posed:
Rachel's smile quirks as she looks over to Sam when he guesses where her thoughts are headed. "Good," she says simply, nodding once. "I mean, preferably a step we can all skip," she adds, taking another drink. "But you know what I mean."
