Cast of Characters: Green Arrow, Star Shimmer

Green Arrow has posed:
Starling City is overcast tonight, as it is most nights--only the brightest of stars and the moon peek through the clouds.

Peeling down a side street before drifting at high speed onto a major boulevard, a beat-up Lincoln Continental swerves back and forth across three lanes. One of its rear passenger doors is missing.

Well, that's not entirely true.

The missing door is being used as a makeshift surfboard by an emerald-clad figure--the Green Arrow--some distance behind the car. In his hand is a bow, attached to which is a strong but thin cord, which itself is attached to an arrow embedded in the rear panel of the car.

Meanwhile, behind the surfboard-door is a three-foot-high cloud of sparks.

The surfer ducks as numerous rounds of semiautomatic gunfire fly past him, shot from the passengers of the Continental.

"Oh, yeah," the Arrow mutters to himself sarcastically. "I've got you /right/ where I want you..."

Star Shimmer has posed:
Earlier this evening...

< You know you could alter your uniform to look like anything you want. All you have to do is focus on how you want it to look. > The ring speaks to Autumn's mind as she looks at her Nightingale armor. The girl sighs wishing she could use it more.

"Really? No way. I mean. Come on. That would mean I can alter matter." She responds as she quietly wraps up the armor and puts it up.

< How do you think you change into your uniform! And yes! You've done it before. Remember the first time you used the ring? The uniform was different. You changed it. Just focus on how you want it to look. >

Autumn smiles, "Okay this is nuts!" She quickly changes into her uniform and focusing on it, her uniform begins to change, becoming a hybrid of her Star Sapphire uniform and the nightingale armor. "Okay This is awesomes!!!" She snickers a little.

Then something hits her. Pain... A shattered heart. Like someone has had the love ripped clear out of them. "Okay Time for work I guess." She states Quietly she goes out her apartment window and goes sailing across the evening sky leaving a violet light trail in her wake.

Now...

The Streak of violet sails across the Starling Skyline. Autumn's senses have brought her here. She doesn't know the information on who is in such distress but she knows she needs to get to them.

Green Arrow has posed:
The surfing archer begins to slowly pull himself forward, a motor reeling in the line from his bow to the arrow lodged in the fleeing Lincoln.

The driver of the car attempts to shake him off, tires squealing as the car veers back and forth, back and forth, sideswiping parked cars and playing chicken with a light rail car.

Shouting in surprise, the Green Arrow manages an 'ollie' to leap into the air, holding onto the door's inner handle as he bounces off the side of a minivan, snapping its rearview mirror off. Then, he pushes off, hooking his foot under the handle, as he returns to his asphalt-wrecking surf.

There's a violet light overhead, and for a moment, the vigilante is distracted. "What the--?!" he exclaims, looking up toward what must be a shooting star.

It's at that moment the Lincoln takes a hard left down a cross-street, and the Arrow's jerked off-balance ... slamming into a stopped bus before he's dragged down the street, his arm- and leg-guards, rather than a metal car door, scraping against the asphalt.

Star Shimmer has posed:
Nightingale continues moving overhead. Finally she stops. Everything within her says that she is close. "Libby, give me a scan of the area. I need to lock in on this one. I mean I usually am pulled right to the person but there is something not right going on."

The ring lights up and she starts scanning the various buildings down below. "Got it!" She darts downward. Her feet touch the street below and she walks into an Italian restaurant.

In the back of the Italian Restaurant...

"Lydia, its not that hard. All you need to do is agree to marry Christopher. You will have power, respect, and control of two families here in Star City." The mob boss looks at his teary eyed daughter. The body of a man in is on the floor.

"Daddy you killed him. You kill James! I LOVED HIM! You... I hate you!" Lydia responds, more then just a little upset.

*SWAT!* The crime boss smacks her daughter, "No more crying. No more anything. He was holding you back. This is for the greater good. The good of the whole family."

Green Arrow has posed:
The Lincoln Continental, meanwhile, screams down the avenue toward a particular Italian restaurant.

"He'll know what to do he'll know what to do he'll know..." the driver repeats, nearly hyperventilating as he keeps glancing back and forth between the street in front of him and the 'rider' visible in the rearview mirror.

"Chris, just shut up and stay focused. We got this!" one of the passengers says, and he begins crawling out through the ruined back windshield and over the trunk, his partner in the back seat holding onto his feet. The man dangling over the back withdraws a large serrated knife from his jacket and reaches down to try and saw at the 'surf' line.

Just then, as the driver's looking back at his friend, the car smashes into the front facade of the restaurant, the car exploding into the dining area. The knife-wielder inadvertently impales himself in the neck.

The Green Arrow flies forward, barely able to release the line on his bow as he hurtles over the roof of the car and smashes through a pre-set table.

All of this, naturally, makes an ungodly din.

Star Shimmer has posed:
Now, Nightingale didn't get to the back of the restaurant yet. She was taking it slow and getting acquanted with her surroundings. Something Batwoman had been impressing upon her. When the LIncoln Continental comes crashing into the front of the place, Autumn blinks a few times. A quick shield is put up, protecting several patrons who are just hoping to enjoy their meals. People are panicking but, at least they are safe.

In the back room, Lydia is terrified. She hates that she is being pressured into something like this but what can she do. Her father is just annoyed with her actions. He wants what is best for the family. Not just his daughter. For everyone. Why can't his daughter see that?

Then there is the crash. "Bobby, Tommy, Jimmy. Deal with it." He grabs his gun himself and follows them out to find out who the heck is trashing their hideout. As they come out. Their eyes fall on Ollie and immediately they all begin firing at him. They recognize him as this is his turf. The girl in black and violet? no idea who that is.

Green Arrow has posed:
The emerald archer barely manages to get to his feet before goons swarm the room. He dives behind the restaurant's bar, nocking and drawing an arrow that he can't /quite/ find the breathing room to stand and fire. All above him, bottles explode and shatter, raining glass and booze all over him.

Green Arrow quietly exhales through his nose and grabs a platter nearby. He takes a moment to guess the trajectory and flings it hard, oriented like a vertical frisbee, to bounce the platter off the wall and /hopefully/ hit the nearest goon in the side of the head.

"Don't suppose you're here to help /me/ and not /them/?" the archer calls out--intended for the strange girl in black and violet, but he can't really make eye contact right now.

The riders in the crashed car, meanwhile, groggily stumble about, trying--and mostly failing and flailing--to pull one another from the wreck.

Christopher, the driver, appears to be in the worst condition, having been slumped over his steering wheel with his limbs at odd angles.

Star Shimmer has posed:
Autumn blinks as she sees the people running out. When they open fire she shakes her head. Her belt glows a little as a giant fist extends outward, the various shooters. "I am so going to get on Yelp about this place." She states and shakes her head.

Quietly the woman in black and violet walks out of the room. Well, she did help a little bit. She slips into the back, drawn to the heart that is in pain. "Hey, It'll be alright. Your heart called to me. I am so sorry for what was done to you. If I could bring him back, I would in a heart beat. Sadly that is beyond my abilities. What I can do is tell you that you will love again. Follow your heart. That is the best thing I can tell you."

The thugs keep shooting toward The Green Arrow. Their shooting is more aerosol then anything to be honest. Then out of nowhere, They are met with a giant violet fist. They go down hard. They are slow to get up.

Green Arrow has posed:
As soon as the gunfire appears to quiet down (having missed the sight of the giant fist), the Green Arrow has a bow drawn and ready to fire. He moves it back and forth from one nearly-unconscious henchman to the next.

"Don't," he hisses. "You're all under arrest. I know this is a front for illegal arms trafficking. That moron there," he says, nodding to the driver, "brought you right back to your headquarters. Smooth move, I know."

Green Arrow slowly steps around the bar to look for any hiding opponents, but finds none. "Where's the boss? Don't make me have to hurt you ... more ... to find out."

Star Shimmer has posed:
The boss steps out, Hand on a button. He smirks at Ollie, "Well if it isn't The Green Arrow. I'm going to give yoooooou ten seconds to get out of my restaurant. If you don't I will press this button. Long of the short of it. Everyone in here dies messy. You're going to turn a blind eye to my operations and I will stay out of your way. Got it?" He states looking as intimidating as he can.

"How can you possibly say that! Look at what my dad did! He killed him! I'll never love again!! I hate him so bad. I just want him to die!" The very much damaged woman laments. "Why should I even listen to you. You're just one of those costumed freaks who will probably take me to jaile just because of my family."

Nightingale looks at Lydia and shakes her head, "Listen. I am a Star Sapphire. You have a big heart and If you can just hold on, you will find love again. I give you my word. Just hold on to the love in your heart." She smiles as she lets her own love flow, filling the young woman with it and helping her to calm down.

Green Arrow has posed:
"/You/ have /five/ seconds to give up, or I cripple that hand," Green Arrow replies.

Immediately after he says that, he lets an arrow fly, aimed directly at the man's wrist tendons to try and prevent him from being able to use his fine motor skills on the button.

Once the arrow is in the arrow, the archer leaps forward to try and tackle the man, throwing his bow to the wayside as he launches into the air.

"Now is /not/ the time for family feuds, sister!" he shouts in mid-air at the bride-not-to-be. "Cut me some slack--I'm trying to /help/!"

Star Shimmer has posed:
The man is just about to press the button when his hand is hit with the arrow. Then... The man is hit with the ARROW. The guy is wrestled to the ground. The device goes flying and its down to a brawl between the two men. In the back The woman just starts crying, "But what about about my love! I don't want to go on without him.

Nightingale smiles a little. "Its okay. You are allowed to mourn. By all means. This is a time for mourning. One moment, Please." She pokes her head out the door. With a smirk, she uses her ring to grab the device and brings it to herself. "Got the remote!" She states to the Green guy."

Her attention goes back to the girl. "You are free to find your own path. Fall in love with yourself and Love will find you!" She states with a smirk. Quickly she steps back. She ducks into the front of the resturant, right past the fighting pair. She still has the remote. She takes off flying, launching herself out of the building and up into the sky. Gotta get that remote out of range.

Green Arrow has posed:
"Play dead," Green Arrow grumbles before looking to the costumed woman.

"Ahh ... I guess we're on the same side after all," the archer says, allowing himself a faint smile as she goes for the device. "Here I thought I was all on my lonesome here in Starling."

To the broken-hearted woman, the archer says, "I wish I could help you about your beau, lady," he continues, his voice a touch softer. "Bad things--awful things--tragedies--happen to good people. I wish I could make it so they didn't. But I can't. None of us can, no matter how hard we try."

Then, he suddenly stands up. "Wait a second--where'd your friend go?!" he asks, running to the hole in the wall to look out at the night sky.

Star Shimmer has posed:
What The Green Arrow would see is a small explosion in the night sky. Almost light a firework taking the shape of the Star Sapphire emblem. Moments later she is back on the ground and back inside the resrtaurant. "Thats it for the detonator. This place will need a bomb sweep."

She walks towards the woman, "Go mourn the man you love. Don't leave town, as there will likely be questions. Beyond that, Just trust that you will find love again. You have the potential for great love. Don't shut it out." She smiles to the girl and then heads into the dining aread. She still has her vilet force field set around her as she looks over at Ollie. "No. Not a villain. Not trouble. Just a Star Sapphire who was on the job. NIce to meet you. I'm Nightingale. Usually I'm in Gotham but I am getting ready to start doing things within the whole sector of the galaxy thing."

Green Arrow has posed:
The Green Arrow adjusts his hood as the flying woman lands. "Huh..." he says quietly. "Now that I can get a better look at you, you remind me of someone. I mean, he had a different color scheme going on, but..."

As she says her name (well, her affiliation), he blinks and shakes his head. "/A/ Star Sapphire? There's more than one? Yeah, I thought that it was bad enough with the Green Fascist Force..."

"Look," Green Arrow adds, "don't get me wrong. I'm appreciative. /Very/ appreciative. Just surprising, is all. I don't get too much help around here."

He looks over at the forlorn fiancee. "Think she'll be alright? Also ... that's quite a jump, from Gotham to Starling to the /galaxy/!"

Star Shimmer has posed:
Autumn Nods, "There are a lot of us apparently. I am pretty raw with it so I am still learning. Plus odds are I will be on this planet until I get the hang of things. The reason I came here is her." She gestures to the broken woman.

As Green Arrow talks to her she snickers, "From what I gather, The greens are under the whole troll brigade. The Oans tend to be real pains in the neck accordin to my ring. They are very controlling. Thankfully the Star Sapphire corps aren't a police force. We spread the light of love throughout the universe. Its really exciting."

Then things turn a little more serious. "Happy to help. First time in Starling. I didn't get out of Gotham much sadly." Her attention shifts to the broken fiancee. A nod is given. "She has the potential for a lot of love. As long as she gets past this, she will recover and will someday even find someone else." She smirks, "Only a sector of it."

Green Arrow has posed:
The archer offers the Sapphire a slow nod. "Makes sense--a training ground, I suppose. Not that I'm personally a big fan of anyone using my city for 'practice' necessarily." He frowns. "I guess you probably don't care much about that, though."

He walks over to his discarded bow and picks it up. "Love, fear, frustration. Whatever helps the cause of justice. The people of Starling City deserve to live in peace. She's been denied it," he adds, nodding toward the heartbroken woman. "I aim to see others not be cheated similarly."

The archer breaks down his bow and attaches it over his shoulder to his quiver. "Can your ring create a mobile cell to keep these thugs pinned until Starling's finest arrive?"

Star Shimmer has posed:
Autumn smiles a little, "Yes and no. I have a place I train not terribly far from Gotham. you know how Batman can be. At times he can be a little Over Protective. And no I get it. This wasn't a training thing. This was an empergenct. They were going to force this poor girl into betraying her love. I felt it cleat in Gotham."

She smiles and nods, "I hear you there. From one I gathered, if they would have succeeded in forcing their own agenda, you may have had a lot more fun on your hands." Her gaze goes to the goons and snicker. With a bright smile her belt ignites, her ring is hidden under her glove. Immediately a giant barred box is formed. Carefully she begins moving thugs into the cage. Its the barred off the rest of the way creating a temporary prison. "This should hold until the cops get here."

She smirks, "So you are the Green Arrow. I can see why she likes you." She snickers a little.

Green Arrow has posed:
"I don't know about you," the Green Arrow says with a sidelong glance to Nightingale, "but even I'm not so confident as to bad-mouth Batman here. On the other side of the continent."

He shakes his head, but a smile breaks across his face. "Still, glad to have some help. Wait," he quickly adds. "What? Who did what now?"

Green Arrow steps toward the Star Sapphire. "I don't even know that woman," he says, gesturing toward the despondent woman.

Star Shimmer has posed:
Autumn laughs! "Before I was a Star Sapphire I was under the tutorledge of Batwoman. Batman actually helped me when my home life turned ugly. Me saying the Bat is over protective? Thats not me badmouthing him. Thats me being honest and speaking from experience. He is very over protective but, he knows his stuff. He wants to make sure the people who work with him and the people who he protects are safe so, not going to argue with him. I have done that though!" She snickers.

Then things just take a slight turn toward the serious. "Miss, What was your father's plan for you?" She asks her. Does she know? Probably but she wants it to come from the horses mouth.

"My Father wanted me to marry a man named Christopher. He worked with a rival Family. He was hoping to use the two of us, to bring our families together. With that power, we could possibly run all of Star city. When I said I didn't know Christopher and That I didn't want to marry him, he shot the man I love." She frowns.

Nightingale smirks a little at Green Arrow, "Not her. Someone else. From what I've felt and heard of course, You two are two peas in a pod." She snickers.

Green Arrow has posed:
The Green Arrow narrows his eyes skeptically toward Nightingale. "I ... don't know what you're talking about," he says quietly, glancing to the distraught woman. "But I'm not sure this is the time and place for whatever you're trying to tell me. No need to, ah, rub it in."

Even as he says this, police sirens can be heard in the distance, quietly but slowly increasing in volume.

"This is the part where I abscond," Green Arrow says. "I help the police, but they're not fans. You're from Gotham; you should know what that's like. Maybe we can meet up on the rooftops somewhere to discuss this further."

He steps out through the restaurant's new wall-hole. "Blonde or brunette?" he asks suddenly. "The 'someone else'? No, never mind," he adds, shaking his head. "Forget I said anything."

Star Shimmer has posed:
Autumn laughs, "you'll figure it out soon enough. I should probably abscond as well. I need to get back." She snickers and floats her way out the open wall. "The police will need to bomb sweep the building. I got rid of the detonator, The explosives are still there."

Quietly she lifts off. Rapidly she climbs into the upper atmophsere Then she lurches forward in a very fast burst of speed leaving off a Sonic Boom and leaving a Star Sapphire star in her wake. She is rather happy. She did got to help with heroics and she did the job.
