Date of Scene: 24 August 2019
Location: Garage - Xavier's School
Synopsis: 8943 Lorna and Sam chat, but Shannon arrives and flying cars!
Cast of Characters: Cannonball, Polaris, Nightingale

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie is out in the garage, the hood of his older station wagon is up, and Sam is half hidden under it. He has a rack of tools near hem, and a couple used parts on another rolling table nearby.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna came out of the Mansion proper, a purse slung over her shoulder as she stepped from the main house into the rather vast and all encompassing garage. She dug about in her purse for a phone that buzzed on and off, and she flashed a scowl at the contents she saw in whatever message she got before she tucked it away. Her green eyed gaze swung to land on Sam and she pursed her lips together as she approached.

"What's wrong with the car?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks over and says "Besides being old?" He jokes a bit and says "She needs a new starter and alternator. Aint got to the point will strand me, but Ah figure better to make sure does not get to that point if possible you know?

Polaris has posed:
Lorna shrugged as she approached, leaning over the side of the car's popped hood to peer down inside it. "Want a hand, or you kinda got it all?" She asked, arching a green eyebrow upward. She considered the engine and it was clear that she was seeing it far beyond just //seeing// it. Her senses were wrapped around the car, smoothing magnetic senses over every bolt, nut, and scraped bit of metal with interest.

"I love old cars. Tons of steel. Less plastic all over.."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Ah aint ever going to turn down a hand, knew you were helping with the bikes and such, but did not know you were actually interested in cars and such thought you were just helping out."

Polaris has posed:
Lorna set her purse down and waved it out of the way with a magnetic twist of her fingers. She rolled up her sleeves, the white button down shirt decidedly not what most people wore when they worked on cars or anything covered in grease, oil, the alike. "Alex used to work on the Blackbird and cars or whatever. I picked it up as well.. I kinda get to cheat. Easy to know what's wrong with the engine when I can sort of see inside it without an X-ray machine. Also, never met a bolt I couldn't unscrew." She murmured, leaning in and holding her hand over the car's inner workings as she ran her senses over it.

"They're easier to work with than people."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie chuckles a bit to that, and says "Well not sure if Ah would agree with the last bit but Ah can see where your coming from." He will add "Seems like about half of the teeth are gone on the old starter." He says with a guess from driving it. Oh you get the letter I slid under your door?"

Polaris has posed:
Lorna shrugged as she closed her eyes, and her fingertips glowed with a magnetic pulse of power, a faint shimmer of green. "Well, whatever is metal I can fix, do you want me to, or should I just let you do it the old fashion way?" She drawled, cracking her eye open with a arch of her eyebrows and amusement coloring her voice. She let her hands fall to her sides after a moment, and she considered the car again.

"Yeah I saw it this morning. I missed it for a few days."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmms and says If you can rebuild the teeth without having to change it out, I won't complain. You know I don't think i ever saw ya dad building anything mechanical except a few robots.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna glanced around for a few discarded bits of metal that were clearly designated for 'scrap' and the scrap flew to buzz about her hand before it all broke down into unmeasurable tiny pin pricks of metal dust, and floated down into the car's depths. She flashed Sam a grin, "Yeah, I can get it fixed no problem. Just gotta add some more material to it so I don't size it down. Wouldn't work too well if I did that." She heaved a sigh at the comment about her father.

"He builds things plenty.. the palace in Genosha was entirely his construction and methods. I learned a lot working with him." She pursed her lips together as she glanced toward Sam.

"You didn't glance at the letter at all, right?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmms and says "Na, I did not look at it, figured it was private, specialy him having it hand delivered. Yea your dad can be a good teacher, just wish we saw things along the same lines more.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna's lips twisted into a thin line and she rolled her eyes, "That's all I ever hear these days. You know how Roberto handled that whole better than thou shit really pissed me off. No one wants me to help them anymore. No one wants to have ties to Genosha. I feel like I'm drowning because of it sometimes.." She exhaled a breath, shaking her head as she leaned into the engine, a look of heavy concentration on her features.

"And sorry about asking about the letter.. Just.. it was personal and I'm so used to not having privacy these days."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmms and nods his head a bit and says "Well, if there is any way Ah can help with that just let me know. Yea, Ah can see both where your wanting to help out but with Magneto's rep it can be an issue. He is a good man overall, but to be honest, between his need to control things, and at times his unwillingness to see other points of view it can be hard dealing with him. Hey atleast he aint grounding you."

Polaris has posed:
Lorna frowned darkly at Sam's words, "No one would actually be working with my father, they'd be working with me. With the people of Genosha. But no, that's never it. They act like I'm tainted because of who my father is and my connections to him. But sure, whatever. Wanda gets away from all of that. People sing //her// praises and love to work with her, but never me." She grumbled, the sounds of metal pinging' and forming, crunching and screeching as it took shape followed from inside the car.

She gritted her teeth, "At this rate, if I ever //do// become Queen, Genosha is going to be an isolationist island because everyone else will have pissed me off." She only half joked.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon slips into the garage, on her way to her chosen evening chores in the stables. She's got her favorite jeans on, a white t-shirt, and some sensible if well-worn white sneakers. Nothing too fancy that can't stand up to the washing it's sure to need later on. Also, she's got a nice, big red apple with her, which looks as if it's had a bite taken out of it, plus the brown leather pouch at her belt is bulging a bit more than usual. The tone of the voices she hears within, though, has her keeping to the shadows between vehicles, her brows furrowed with concern. She stops in her tracks, keeping out of the way, and just listening for the moment.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks over to Lorna, and says "Well to be honest with you, if, when you become Queen it will be determined alot on the Rep your dad has left. Can Ah ask you an honest question about the whole becoming queen and such?" He looks over and waves a greasy hand from where they are working on his car.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna pursed her lips as she leaned over the hood of the car, her gaze running over the engine and seeing far beyond what was visible to the normal eye. Her attention returned to Sam at his question, and her eyebrows furrowed sharply as he shifted the topic. "Hmmm? Sure Sam, but again.. if.. I don't know if I'd actually be my father's heir or not.. Or if I'll live long enough to ever be Queen.. or ... honestly.." She trailed off her gaze falling to Shannon as she noted the approach of the younger mutant.

"hey, what's up?"

Nightingale has posed:
Crap. Busted. So much for staying out of the way. She offers a tentative smile and a wave to the pair, but does not intrude by approaching any further than she already has. "Hi... not a whole lot, just going to work on the stables a bit. Makes pretty decent strength training." She tilts her head, looking between the two of them and taking a bite of her apple. "You okay, Lorna? You sound kind of... upset."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie Well, if when you become queen your wanting whats best for the people right? Have you thought much about doing something like the whole queen of England, I have heard you mentioning something about a council?

Polaris has posed:
Lorna exhaled a breath, her irritation fading to the background as she waved Shannon over, leaning against the car's side with her hip. "Just frustrated, don't worry about it. Do you want to help Sam here with the car? We were just chatting as I reconfigured a few things." She plastered a smile on her face as she shoved her hair back as the green curls tangled around her features.

Her gaze swung back to Sam, and she arched an eyebrow upward. "You mean a constitutional monarchy? And a more formalized system of government with a parliament, or congress?" She reached up and pinched the bridge of her nose. "Yes, Sam. I've thought about it. I've thought about it a lot. I've researched it and worked closely with the Council.. Which are not elected officials but more like a group of people that previously had ties to Genosha or know about governing a whole ton more than me."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon was not completely blind to the fact that the smile did not quite seem to reach Lorna's eyes. "Family troubles? Hey... we're all supposed to be family here, so asking me not to worry, well, you'll have more success asking the sun not to rise." She didn't seem to give a flying care (insert bad pun here) about rank here. At the request for help with the car she nods and smiles herself, making her way over to the pair. "Thanks. Don't know much about fixing cars, more about cooking. Makes more sense than people sometimes."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, and says "Putting something in like that when you are in charge, Ah am sure will help change folks minds. Do you think your dad might be willing to do a council of somesort? Ah really don't see if personally but you have talked to him more recently

Polaris has posed:
Lorna cast a glance to Shannon, and she shrugged, "I always have troubles, familial or not, Shannon. It's okay though, seriously. Not world ending or anyone dying. So it's fine. Just me being frustrated." She smiled again, but it was still very much more of a grimace than a true smile. Her hands rose to comb through her hair and she glanced to Sam again.

"Right what else needs to be done on this thing?" She gestured to the hood of the car again as she bit back a sigh.

"As far as my father is concerned, no. I don't think he would ever give up power in Genosha for others. He's a bit big on control. And I'm not entirely sure he trusts anyone there really.."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon shrugs and smiles a little bit, grabbing a pen from her leather pouch and using it as a hair stick to pin her hair up in a bun to keep it out of the way. "Yeah, I kind of get that. Look... I don't know much about your dad, and I don't even know you all that well. But I do know Sam has talked about both of you with a whole lot of respect, and I've got a feeling he doesn't give that lightly. So that's got to count for something."

She peers under the hood of the car Lorna's working on, then back at her and Sam, wrinkling her nose. "I wonder what's more confusing... people, or this."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and says "Not sure what the deal is with the alternator, may need rewound, I had planned on that one, but if you think you can fix it sure." He hmms and says "Honestly when needs to be done Ah don't see being something he would consider. I would love for him to be willing to put you or Wanda in charge, not your brother though, that would not be good

Polaris has posed:
Lorna laughed softly at Shannon, and she shrugged lightly, "People are more confusing by far. Cars are easy in comparison. Particularly with my power set." She wiggled her hands, and a few spare parts came zooming from along the wall to float about them. "I kind of cheat though, so, that might just be for me." She murmured, "In another life I could've been happy being a mechanic." She mused, but as Sam mentioned her or Wanda being a good replacement.. and not Pietro, she smirked and shrugged.

"Pietro wouldn't sit still to rule anything anyways.."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie 's phone rings, and he looks down at it, and says "I need to take this sorry ladies." He says as he heads over to take the call.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon laughs as she pokes at some of the spare parts floating around in the air, as if she were a small child trying to pop soap bubbles on a summer's afternoon. "I wish people could see the magic in something like this, and not be so afraid." There's a bit of child-like glee as she bats at the parts for a moment, her eyes twinkling. "I wouldn't call it cheating. More like making best use of all available resources."

She pouts a little as Sam has to step away but nods, and shrugs, her wings ruffling slightly. "Well... some advantage to being a nobody. I don't get calls at bad times."

Polaris has posed:
Lorna laughed softly at Shannon's glee and she waved her fingers this way and that, causing the magnetized items to float around and bump into each other in curling, loops. She grinned, leaning back against the car as Sam ducked out and she nodded in his direction. "Well, that is sort of true. Sure." She murmured in regards to her 'cheating' comment. She watched Shannon, seeming to enjoy the simple amusement the other young mutant got from the bobbing car parts.

"Hey, let's go for a ride. You want to see something really cool, huh?" She offered, gesturing to one of the cars further down the way.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon grins impishly, shifting her attention to the area Lorna gestures towards. "Sure, why not?" This was a different side of Lorna than she'd seen on the rare, brief meetings since her arrival here, and it was refreshing. "Simple pleasures are the best, true?" She starts making her way over to the other car, picking her way through a variety of vehicles and the parts needed to work on them. This promised to be a whole lot of fun.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna gestured and the spare parts that had been floating returned to their assigned places in the garage. The green haired woman plucked her purse from the table nearby and trailed after Shannon. The car was a sleek, open topped convertible of a retro design. Likely worth more than some people's living situations, Lorna climbed in without even a set of keys dangling from her hand.

"Alright, so buckle up. We're gonna do some flying that has nothing to do with wings." She drawled, the engine turning over with a deep purr and revving sound as she waved her hands over the steering wheel and then twisted about to do the same to the garage doors.

The great doors lifted up and wheeled back into place with a twirl of her fingers and the green haired woman flashed Shannon a smile.

"I haven't done this since high school, but should be fine." The car probably didn't belong to Scott.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon laughs merrily and does indeed buckle up; she's got a feeling they're both in for quite a ride! What could go wrong, really? At Xavier's, however, that could be a loaded question. Still, there was no good reason to not simply revel in the moment. "So it really hasn't been all that long, then, right? Ummm... this -is- your car, I hope?" Her eyes twinkle with mischief at the question--was there a hidden wild child in there somewhere?

Polaris has posed:
Lorna shrugged as she threw the car in reverse, all the while using her powers and not the actual steering wheel. "I haven't ever actually owned a car before. In Genosha, I have drivers. And guards. Mostly I'm heavily watched there, so I do get to do things like this, for instance." And with those words the car peeled back down the drive way and lifted up into the air with a shriek of the tires on pavement. It flew up and up, the wind whipping around the two mutants as Loran whooped and flew the car up to the tree line and curved it away from the road and into the surrounding forest.

Decidedly less likely to be seen that way.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon lets out a joyous whoop as they swoop skywards, the car seeming to somehow have grown invisible wings of its own. "Where we're going, we don't need roads!" She glances over at Lorna, smiling at the pure and simple joy she sees there, what must be a very rare chance to simply kick back and enjoy herself. "Wow. That has got to suck. Why don't people just treat you normally? You put your pants on one leg at a time, too."

Polaris has posed:
Lorna flashed a grin toward Shannon as she drove/flew the car through the air, wind whipping all around them. "Some people see my father as more than a mutant. There are some that almost worship him.. like a god. And for all that love he has, there's just as much hate. He's powerful, and has never had qualms with showing the world who he is. My half siblings.. Wanda and Pietro.. they broke away from him sometime ago. About when I was just figuring out who I was, and my relation to him." She murmured, her gaze flickering back to the open skyline in front of them.

"And I have his powers. It's impossible for me to not draw people's attention."
