Date of Scene: 06 September 2019
Location: American Museum Nat. His.
Synopsis: 9094/ Power Girl and Nadia Pym chat about dinosaurs and cloning.
Cast of Characters: Wasp (Pym), Power Girl

Wasp (Pym) has posed:
With the New York schools starting up again the American Museum of Natural History is experiencing a brief downturn in attendance, at least until the schools start planning class outings. Which makes it the ideal time for one Nadia Pym, teenage supergenius currently self employed, to slack off and come to check out the exhibits.

Specifically the dinosaurs. Because who doesn't love a good dinosaur?

Dressed in a simple yellow summer dress with sensible shoes she stands just out of the way. Staring intently at a T-rex skeleton and scribbing away at a big pad of paper. She doesn't seem to be drawing though. The pad is covered in densely packed mathematical formulae of some sort. With a few annotations in an eclectic mix of English and Russian.

Power Girl has posed:
Kara Zor-L wasn't a high-school student...at least, not like this diamension's version. But that didn't mean she wasn't curious and didn't enjoy the learning experience. In town for more meetings, Karen Starr is out and enjoying her downtime as she makes her way down the line. A T-Rex skeleton was neat, especially when it wasn't an animated robot trying to kill you! Some of her days are more weird than others!

Dressed in a pair of dark jeans and a midriff-baring black halter top, she seems to simply just be another young woman enjoying the space rather than some super-genius alien!

Wasp (Pym) has posed:
"Did you know scientists believe the holes in the skull bones were part of a cooling system of some sort?" Nadia muses as Karen lingers nearby. Her accent is faintly Russian and she doesn't seem to shift her attention away from her work. "Originally they suspected they were filled with muscle of some sort. But the cooling idea does make a certain degree of sense. Especially in a warmer climate."

A suitably exceptional mind might be able to work out the numbers Nadia is scribbing down all relate to the dimensions of various bones.

Power Girl has posed:
"I hadn't," Karen speaks up, apparently having noticed and not bothered by being addressed as she was. "But I suppose you're right about it making sense. They weren't quite a 'lizard' sort that we have seen these days." Her arms cross, coming to rest under her bust while she leans nearby. Of course she could not help but glance to the paper and the numbers, having both the 'time' and insight to make the connection.

"Are you a doing a study of the creatures? Trying to calculate something about its movement?"

Wasp (Pym) has posed:
Nadia Pym shrugs a little. "A study? Not really. I just wanted to know how big I'd need a lab to be if I ever get around to cloning one," she admits earnestly. "Strictly for scientific purposes of course. I have this notion that there might be interesting pharmaceutical applications within the biochemistry. People find new drugs in soil, plants and all sorts of things. Eventually we'll have to start looking in really unusual places like extinct creatures or from voluntary donations from aliens."

Power Girl has posed:
"Cloning one?" If only PG didn't already know that was technically possible, still the woman couldn't really talk about it without revealing things. "Isn't there a few movies that suggest that wasn't the greatest idea to do? At the very least it probably isn't the best dinosaur to work with."

A smile despite herself, the Kryptonian chuckles lightly and shrugs her shoulders. "Perhaps. But alien technology and genetics are generally things to be careful around. They can be helpful, but they can also be dangerous."

Wasp (Pym) has posed:
"I have no idea? I grew up in Siberia and we weren't really allowed to watch movies so..." Nadia glances up and tilts her head. "But the technical aspects aren't at all challenging for me. It's just a case of obtaining a decent sample to work with. That's the hard part." She sighs. "Well that and actually finding a decent place to set up a lab. The last two times I went out to check properties I ran into street crime. A drug related shoot out and I even saw /Batman/ stop some sort of illicit deal."

"I'd also disagree about alien genetics being more dangerous than working with samples from Earth. It's like they're an mp3 player and we're a cassette tape. Both contain music but they're not intended to work together." She beams a smile. "Xenobiology is one of my hobbies. When I'm not busy with theoretical physics at least."

Power Girl has posed:
Truthfully, part of STARR Tech's technology might have had basis or at least inspiration from alien tech, but again that wasn't really something she could talk about freely. Instead she simply nods for a moment and then tilts her head to the side and lifts a finger. "Well, don't go scraping from these. A decent chunk of them are plaster..."

The assessment of alien tech does have her raising an eyebrow, but there's interest to her expression as she turns to face the girl rather than the exhibit. "Who is it you're working under then? Or are you independent?"

Wasp (Pym) has posed:
Nadia Pym can't help but roll her eyes. "Of course they are plaster," she giggles. "It's a display! Not a real skeleton. I thought /everyone/ knew that." She pauses for a second, then adds "It /is/ a very well done display though." Her foot taps a few times. "I don't work under anyone. Not anymore."

She flicks the pad of paper over to a blank sheet and she starts writing out some sort of flow chart. "It'd be nice to have the funding that might provide but... I feel it's important I have creative control over my work. Besides I get fed up explaining what I'm doing to grown ups who think a piece of paper makes them more qualified than me. It's so boring!"
