History

History:

John Connor was born into a fugitive lifestyle. He lived as a nomad with his mother, Sarah, spending a lot of time in Central and South America. They learned and trained with whoever would teach them. This continued until she got caught trying to blow up an office building in Metropolis. Sarah was sent to Connecticut Valley Hospital, formerly known as the Connecticut General Hospital for the Insane. John ended up in foster care.

While at a shopping mall, a reprogrammed T-800, later nicknamed Uncle Bob, and T-1000 fought over him. This validated everything that his mother had ever told him about the future. Later that night, John ordered Uncle Bob to help him break his mother out. Afterwards, John taught him how to act like a human, quickly formed an emotional bond, and ultimately came to regard him as a father figure.

John helped destroy a branch of Cyberdyne Systems in order to avert, or at least delay, Skynet's creation, all the while being pursued by the T-1000. After it was destroyed in a steel mill, John and Sarah destroyed the remnants of the T-800 that had been sent to kill her before he was born, and Uncle Bob. John begged Uncle Bob not to destroy itself. But he was insistent. His continued existence risked the recreation of Skynet at some future date. John hugged Uncle Bob, he cried, but ultimately, he allowed his mother to lower Uncle Bob into molten steel.

Afterwards, John and Sarah tried to settle down, living normal lives as John and Sarah Reese, but they were in constant fear of being discovered by the authorities. While at school, John was attacked by a T-888, whom the Connors know as Cromartie, although it has since adopted the identity of Robert Kester. He was saved by one of his classmates, Cameron Phillips, whom he later learned was a reprogrammed T-900, sent to protect him. They had not stopped Judgement Day. They had only delayed it.

After escaping Cromartie, they settled down in Metropolis, assuming the identities of Cameron Baum, John Baum, and Sarah Baum, after L. Frank Baum, creator of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which was his favorite book when he was a child. He has since become acquainted with his father's older brother, Derek Reese, a Resistance fighter sent back to help them. Reese began living with them after adopting the identity of Derek Baum.

The battle for our tomorrow starts today.

Personality

Personality:

John Connor has been preparing to become the General of Tech-Com since the day he was born. That's the nice way to put it. There's less pressure that way. The high pressure way is to say that he is to be the Savior of Mankind. All things considered, he's taken it pretty well. Before he met his first Terminator, whom he nicknamed "Uncle Bob", a part of him had always believed that the stories his mother, Sarah, told him were bullshit. Uncle Bob, a T-800 sent back to protect him, and the T-1000, which was sent back to kill him, changed all that.

He still has that rebellious streak. No one could be raised by Sarah Connor without developing one. But now he keeps it on the inside. He knows when to rebel, and when to keep his mouth shut. Outwardly, he appears to be normal, but on the inside, he carries a high amount of stress. He just hides it well. It's hard to focus on algebra when at any moment; a machine may break down your door in an attempt to kill you.

John Connor is still a young man. He has all the usual problems that stem from that. But he has to carry the weight of responsibility on top of them. It's a burden that few could carry, and even fewer have been asked to. As a result, John Connor is guarded in the extreme. Everyone he meets could be a Terminator. Because they can mimic voices, every time he picks up a phone, he could be speaking to a Terminator. It's a lot to deal with. He could benefit from a good therapist, and a lot of stress relief.

It is in his paranoia that he shows the first cracks in the facade he presents to the world. He does everything he can to blend in, but in his efforts to evade Terminators, he makes himself slightly more visible. Most people shrug it off as he can be a weirdo. Some know better.

Skills

Chess:
John Connor is a highly proficient, but unranked, chess player. It helped him to develop strategic thinking.

Demolitions:
John Connor is trained in a number of fields. One of them is demolitions. It is not one of his best skills, as he is usually surrounded by people with greater expertise, but he can do it.

Escape Artist:
John Connor is able to get out of hand cuffs, restraints, and locked rooms, most of the time. He's still learning. But he is highly motivated whenever he needs to use these developing skills.

Forgery:
John Connor is still learning forgery. He is good with on hand forgery, such as changing a photo, name, and title for a badge or lanyard. He can hack into some databases and insert a name, like the school board. But he is not yet able to create identities that will pass extensive background checks. His efforts are strictly surface level.

Hacking:
John Connor is a highly skilled computer hacker, being able to hack into a Terminator's CPU in order to extract the information it contains, as well as easily hacking into ATMs, City Hall, the Metropolis Police Department database, and school board. He could hack a computer system in his sleep, provided he had the right equipment. He knows what to get, where to get it, and how to put it together. He also knows how to remove a hard drive when necessary.

Lock Picking:
John Connor knows how to pick locks, be it with a paper clip, or computer equipment. There are all kinds of locks in this world, and just as many ways to get through them. He isn't up to cracking bank vaults, but he's still young.

Mechanic:
John Connor grew up around vehicles that were always in need of work. He learned enough to rebuild car engines, tune up dirt bikes, and is a pretty good behind the wheel too. He's just got to get the hang of those manual transmissions. As his mother says, "if you're gonna be a hero, you gotta learn to drive stick."

Self-Defense:
John Connor is trained in self-defense, without being a practicing martial artist. He doesn't follow any specific form. But he can fight.

Spanish:
John Connor is completely bilingual, having been rraised in predominantly Spanish speaking countries before returning to the United States.

Stealth:
John Connor is stealthy. His survival depends on it. He walks softly, blends into crowds, and knows how to go undetected, even when someone is actively hunting him.

Terminators:
John Connor is the foremost expert on Terminators of this time. He has learned from Uncle Bob, Cameron Phillips, and the odd Terminator CPU that he's had to hack. He has had to help Cameron with repairs. In truth, she probably didn't need his help for most of it, but these are teaching moments. He's fought them, and fought alongside them. He understands them, or as much as any human can.

Weapons:

John Connor has trained in hand guns, machine guns, rifles, shotguns, and even knows a bit about artillery.

Resources

Baum House:
John Connor lives in a house in Midvale, New Troy. He goes to Midvale High School. He has a normal home life, or as normal as can be. However, the basement contains a wall full of words written in blood by a Resistance fighter. The Connor Family have deciphered and dealt with some of them, but many remain unexplained.

Cameron Phillips:
John Connor is protected by Cameron Phillips. By virtue of her size and gender, his relationship with her is different than it was with Uncle Bob. She also knows Future John. He still hasn't managed to wrap his mind around it, but she may actually be more valuable to him than his mother, Sarah Connor.

Derek Reese:
John Connor has learned about his father, Kyle Reese, through his uncle, Derek Reese. His uncle comes from the future. He knew Future John. He's a good soldier. And he's a John Connor loyalist.

Resistance:
Future John Connor has sent people back through time, and he may do so again, or already did. Time travel can be funny that way. But every time he sends someone back, it is at least tangentially beneficial to current John Connor. Cameron Phillips knows some of this, but isn't authorized to tell him yet. It can be frustrating.

Salceda Gang:
John Connor's identity of John Baum was arranged, at great expense, by Carlos Salceda, nephew of Enrique Salceda. These identities include both physical Ids, and digital database entries. They could even draw social security on them. Sarah used to run guns with them. Through them, they have access to people who operate on the other side of the law.

Sarah Connor:

John Connor is his mother Sarah Conoor's reason for being. She means everything to him. If he dies, she is already dead. End of. And he owes everything to her. She didn't make him, she forged him.

Weaknesses

Judgment Day:
John Connor once believed that he had stopped Judgment Day. He now knows that he only delayed it. It may be inevitable. He doesn't know. People who came back have changed things. Future information has been fluid. But according to Derek and Cameron, Judgment Day is currently set for April 21st, 2040, at 1:03 AM, Eastern Standard Time, after Skynet activates on March 27th, 2040. And the clock is ticking.

Mistrust:
John Connor is guarded. He does not trust easily, and even when he does trust, it is never complete. He always has to be watching out for Terminators, some of which can change their appearance at will. He also has to watch out for the authorities, who may pierce through his John Baum identity.

Skynet:

John Connor has survived multiple assassination attempts by Skynet. He has no reason to believe that there won't be more. In a roundabout way, it is actually a good thing that Skynet focuses on him. It means that fewer resources are being spent trying to assassinate his future lieutenants. He can protect himself, but he can't do anything about missions that don't involve him.
