Synopsis: A fallen angel meets an angel winged mutant and a bat winged faerie.
Cast of Characters: Nightingale, Zach Daniels, Pixie

Nightingale has posed:
"In the summertime when the weather is hot
You can stretch right up and touch the sky...."

And it was summer, for sure. Perhaps not by the calendar, true enough, as the solstice had not come around yet. But that would be soon enough! No, it was warm, it was sunny, and maybe just a touch humid.

In other words, it was perfect flying weather.

And flying a certain young healer-in-training was, laughing as she banked and soared through the sky above Apple Park. Below, children and families were playing and running about. Someone was blowing bubbles that caught the slighest breeze, spheres of iridescence floating away in bits of ephemeral beauty. A hot dog vendor was hawking their wares, and there was laughter all about.

Yes, it was a good day to be alive.

Zach Daniels has posed:
A few hundred feet above Shannon, Zach's soaring and enjoying the weather too, the black clad angel slicing through the air in his own unique style, if being clad all in black are. Shaking his head Zach dips a wing and just....drops, flaring his wings once he's closer to Shannon and waves a feathered wing at her, pivoting around as he does so. Drawing his legs up under him, Zach descends slowly and is enjoying this flight. See. Why not descend to a tree and sit and watch Shannon? Sure, Zach is oldder and stronger, sure, but, butt even he's achin g and tired and wanting to sit and watch the healer in training, too.

Nightingale has posed:
Oh, no. There was no way Zach was going to get out of flying that easily! Giggling, Shannon brings her wings inwards, diving towards the tree in a laughing arrow of jet black. Black did seem to be the order of the day, as she was wearing a long t-shirt with a bright pink sequined heart in the center, black leggings, and sensible black sneakers. For a moment, it looks as if she might crash into the branches, but at the last second, her wings snap outwards to arrest her descent.

"Hi!" she calls out, circling around and coming to backwing and hover near the fallen angel. "Whatcha doin' hiding there?"

Zach Daniels has posed:
Zach squeaks and fumbles the granola bar, diving out of the tree after it. "I'm okaaaaay" he calls, "I was gonna sit and rest and watch the skies"

Phew, granola treat caught, he is now flying again. So, so not fair! So he cranks s up the speed to just above Shannon's and launches upwards. hey, if he's gonna have to work to catch his food, he'll enjoy that too, the wrapper comes off as he bites into it and grins, waving a wing to Shannon as if to say he's now flying, and with powerful wingbeats, managess to fly backwards, sort of as he ends up hovering there, looking like he's flown through a hedge.

Nightingale has posed:
     "We're always happy
Life's for livin' yeah, that's our philosophy...."

Shannon giggles, her own wings beating through the air as she climbs, chasing Zach down in an aerial game of follow-the-leader. It was pretty rare she actually got to share the enjoyment of flight with someone else and hey, better still if it was a new friend!

However, when she attempts to fly backwards, well... it's a little bit less graceful than Zach, and she winds up in a tree the hard way. Some leaves and branches shake, a few birds scatter from the tree, and then... giggling?

     Yeah, she's okay!

Zach Daniels has posed:
Zach watches, 'tsk' sounds as he wags a finger. "That's not how you fly backwards" he says simply, "You did though find a tree and scared the poor birds so..."

Shaking his head Zach flies over offering a gloved hand, "Ned a hand out of the tree?" he asks, looking thoughtful then over the tree. "You know....you got leaves in your hair, right?" he asks.

Eye for detail, Zach...and he sets off again, keeping it to roughly Shannon's speed. Hey, this follow the leader is fun

Nightingale has posed:
Laughing, Shannnon accepts the help out of the tree, letting Zach pull her out. Sure, she's got leaves and twigs in her hair, but really, who cares? "Well, if that's not how you fly backwards, then maybe you could show me the right way?" It pleased her to no end to see he was doing well after the healing, her smile widening.

When she was dive-bombing the tree he was in, the winged teen was flying no faster than a car in the middle of town--there just hadn't been enough altitude to pick up more speed than 30 mph. Okay, so that was a nice speed to start with for follow-the leader. But would such a sedate pace last? Stay tuned, dear reader.

Zach Daniels has posed:
Short answer? Not for much longer, Zach's gradually creeping the speed up as he flies. High speed and simple, or low speed and complex. Opting for the latter, Zach drops down to treetop height and begins slaloming in and out of the trees, and under branches too, just to make it complex too, but it's still fun.

"I'll buy you cookies if you can keep up" he calls with a laugh, a genuine laugh of enjoyment. See, see this is the pleasure of flying.

It's not about speed. it's about the trickier, more detail oriented bits of flying. Zach is, if anything, making it tougher, though he sits up in a tree again watching it all with a laugh.

Nightingale has posed:
"Or you could keep up with me!" Shannon giggles madly, following Zach in and out of the trees, under branches and above the treetops. See, this was a normal day of flying for her with some agility courses, but that was training--and he didn't need to know that. This was just sheer fun and horsing around. "Think they have some cinnamon oatmeal raisin cookies?" she asked, laughing as she comes to hover above the fallen angel, with just the tips of her sneaker toes on his head.

Hey, there wasn't room for two on that branch!

Zach Daniels has posed:
"I am not a perch!" Zach says and reaches into his sword sheath. No sword today. It's full of snacks. So he pulls out another granola bar and offers it up to Shannon, "I'm not a perch or a vending machine, lady" he offers, leaning backwards and half falling out of the tree snapping his wings out. "You want a challenge? lright, it's on" Zach adds. Leash off, here we go. Zooming through the trees at just about a hundred miles an hour, Zach has the age and experience to pull this off and doesn't look behind him. Instead, he is focused in on, well, a spot past the trees, soaring and climbing out from the trees...and waits. It's a madcap run through the trees, circling and diving and swooping and flying and even going just above the ground, and has, if anything, got Zach grinning. And wearing a hat of, well, twigs, trees and a few startled birds for about two seconds, too/ He looks over the trees finally once he's pulled up into a hover and smiles, hovering above the trees they were chasing each other in.

Nightingale has posed:
Okay, so maybe it was a little faster than Shannon could fly at the moment. But after accepting the granola bar and nibbling on it--okay, more like wolfing it down--she grins, tucking the wrapper into the top of her shoe to be disposed of properly later. "That's Shannon!" she retorts, giggling. Her eyes dart this way and that, taking note of each twist and turn amongst the trees and skimming the ground.

Ooof. This was going to be a challenge.

She takes a deep breath and begins her run, at what might be terrifying speed for some--but in reality is only heading up to 75 mph. Which, all considered, isn't bad speed for a younger, less experienced flyer. Skimming the ground, no problem. Soaring above the trees? Sure. But when she heads in between two closely-spaced oak trees, she does lose a couple feathers, letting out a "Meep!"

Zach Daniels has posed:
"That's Shannon or Lady Shannon?" Zach fires back, watching her leave feathers and a 'meep'

"You're not a mouse" he says and takes off again, this time in the open sky and soaring, the speed gradually building up to just over a hundred, and...then he drops a wing and begins to perform moves like he's part of the Blue Angels or something, a lazy loop here, a climbing turn there, and then he tucks his wings in and plummets, flaring them out at the last few moments to touch down neatly and sit in the grass with a grin.

Nightingale has posed:
Laughing, Shannon claps in appreciation, admiring the sheer talent, artistry, and skill of a flyer far more experienced than most she has met. "I salute you, Zach," she calls out, grinning. Could she pull off some of those climbing turns and loops?

There was one way to find out.

With a bit less grace and finesse--hey, she's still young, after all!--she dips a wing and begins her own ascent, spiraling higher and higher into the sky. The people below seemed to fade away, and it was just her, the sun, the sky, and a balmy summer breeze blowing gently through the area. She comes out of the maneuver only to execute a few loops, much as she had with Herr Wagner several months past.

The air itself seemed to hold its breath as her wings snap inwards, sending the young healer plummeting towards the earth, faster and faster. For a moment it seemed as if she might crash or worse. Thankfully, though, she does manage to open her wings at the last second. However, instead of touching down gracefully, she goes careening across the grass as if atop a frozen lake, sending divots of dirt and debris flying until she can skid to a halt.

Hey, any landing you can walk away from is a good one, right?

Zach Daniels has posed:
"That's a 9.5 for style" Zach says dryly watching her, "You nearly stuck the landing"

Nearly, kinda, sorta, maybe...kicked up enough debris to get called Dorothy too.

"Good points. You didn't crater. Bad points? You're all about making a mess. Don't make me brush all that with my wings" Zach says with a look over all the things Shannon's kicked up, a quiet sigh from the fallen angel.

Nightingale has posed:
"Hey, not all of us have had centuries to practice, you know!" Shannon retorts, grinning and laughing as she bends down to try and straighten up the mess she made of the ground. It winds up with a lot of dirt under her fingernails, and some mess just will have to be healed with time. But hopefully, at least Zach won't need to step in with the cleanup! "I'm just glad I didn't break something or worse. Never tried a landing at full speed before."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn is up and about in the sky, gliding and enjoying the nice spring weather, dressed in her short black flared dress, yellow shorts shining underneath, matching belt at her waist and yellow lace up boots covering her feet. These days she has an added accessory attached at the hip - a long crystalline sword that shines in the sunlight with an eerie pink gleam at the tip.

Zach Daniels has posed:
Zach's just sitting there, watching Shannon with a laugh, "See you tried, you tried, main thing" he offers and tosses over a granola bar. "You did good though, keep at that flying thing and you'll get there" he says and looks up into the sky. Is that what happens when he's been up for 35 hours? Nah, that's something flying

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn peers down below, spying another angelic looking creature, and is that Shannon? But the latter flies off moments before Megan can greet her. Arching a curious brown, she turns and angles downward for a better look at the other angelic being.

Of course right now, Megan looks very demonic with her black grey bat wings. And that crystal sword hanging at her hip, gleaming with dark energy, a hundred pixie voices screaming to be let go. And the tip is of courge glowing intensely pink and brimming with some strange dark magic..

Zach Daniels has posed:
Looking over...and more importantly, up, Zach narrows his gaze. He's got no sword or crossbw. Maybe he can hurl a snack at the.....thing to distract it?

Ooh, there's a tree branch. Fight with a branch maybe? Nah, why not see what it wants. He's still all mad over the way that tall smoking wizard treated him. So he waits.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn blinks, peering down at the angel below, and lands lightly and gracefully, peering at the angel, pulling out her sword. "Heey! where'd the other angel girl go? I wanted to say hi!" she smiles, taking a step nearer to Zach. "Ooh, are you a *real* angel or..?" her bat wings drape around her, folding over her shoulders like a dramatic cloak. She seems cheerful enough, but still reeks of dark magic, with that strange sword.

Zach Daniels has posed:
"She flew offf" Zach says with a shrug. He's got a granola bar in hand, and....yeah he won't fight with it, but hey.

"why not give it as a peace offering. "So, you decided to drop in on me?" Zach asks looking over Megs and shaking his head quietly.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn awwes, peering skywards. "That's too bad.." she peers curiously at the granola bar, which isn't very epic for an angel. "Sooo, are you an angel..Or a mutant? Your wings remind me of Shannon's.." she grins. Oh yeah, she's still holding that sword, waving it around which might be interpreted the wrong way.
