Cast of Characters: Prismatic, Pixie, Red, Cannonball

Prismatic has posed:
'You were good at telling me - until I had to agree-- that I should change. But all aloooong we've been weary and how do I know, how do I know, am I awake or dreaming? '

Music was playing over Alexis Carr's phone as she sat by the pool, her head nodding along with the punk music as she read along on a manuscript, making marks and notes in the margins, the young Performing Arts instructor was busy already preparing for school, happily engaged in her first official full year at Xavier's.

Her dark hair was braided and pinned in a bun, and she was wearing a short sleeved shirt over her one-piece swimsuit, though it didn't do much to hide her recent, prismatic bruising that shimmered in the light. There was a multicolor rainbow floating in the pool nearby as the water stilled, as if in anticipation of an oncoming storm.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn was enjoying the last couple weeks of summer and though it's really hot outside, the pool was nice and refreshing, which is a welcome retreat. Dressed in a simple mint green one piece bathing suit, she climbs the steps to the diving board and jumps off to dive gracefully into the pool, bit far from where Alexis is. "Heads up!" she yells, splashing water everywhere. Typical Megan entrance.

Red has posed:
Technically it's a week and two days early for me in day. Technically, most students are not supposed to be there, and some are at home. Others hang aaround on the campus, trying to get their summer over. Alice is among the latter, though she has been seen shipping like crates full of stuff downstate and recieving probalby a few cubic yards of foam material and paint over the summer. Because, hey, a girl needs spending money and if you can directly ship costume parts back to the store you used to work at and earn some dollars that way... But today she's not staing in her room working on yet another World of Wurstcraft-Blutwurst cotume or Spanish Devil II Necromancer cosplay. No, today is SWIM DAY!

For Alice, swimming means she has grabbed herself a red one-piece swimsuit, though besides a likewise red towel she comes armed with a sports bag with a full speedo. Or rather, one of those sharkskin speedoes, because she wants to try it. Which promptly gets wet as Megan makes the water bomb....

Prismatic has posed:
Alexis gives a grin as she hears the characteristic call of children at play in a pool -- and quickly moves to tuck her phone in her bag to muffle the sound and protect the piece of tech!

And she laughs, holding her hands up and then sliding her sunglasses up as she wipes away some small droplets of water.

"Thanks for the head's up, Megan!" she calls out. She stands to shake herself out a bit, and draws her eyes to the Alice's arrival with a measure of interest, pursing her lips a moment, but still wearing an easy grin before she sits back in her chair.

"You'd never know, by how many students elect to stay over the summer for the summer programs, that we're just not 'home' to so many." she jokes.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn would probably be offended at the 'children' remark, cuz she's a college student now, even though still not allowed to drink. She pops up out if the water, floating in the middle of the pool and peers around, smiling and waving to Alexis and Alice. The pool has a few kids out here but is relatively empty which is nice. It means more space for Megan!

To be honest she doesn't have much of a family to go back to, even if she doesn't take classes in the summer. "Not for me, this is just my home. Who wants to go to summer school?" she makes a face.

Red has posed:
Alice sighs a little as she drops the bag at the edge of the pool prepping herself to get into it. "I can work from here, and it's cheaper not to go home for the summer." Alice remarks on the general quip about summer programs. "And pool time almost whenever I want."

Slipping in, she takes a few long strokes, almost a royal swimming style as she works down the track to turn, then return to her bag.

Prismatic has posed:
Alexis gives a wry grin, and gives a shrug of her shoulders. "Well... before I was hired here full-time, I lived in a tiny basement studio in Brooklyn, that I shared with the building's boiler. I think Mr. Guthrie was so abhorred by the state of my existence that he recruited several others to help me move before my cat went missing."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie comes walking out towards the pool. The young man is wearing board shorts, and has a towel and book with him. He looks around as he hears the last little bit, and walks over to lean down to kiss Alexis' cheek "Well me and Warrior Joe, we have a pact." He jokes a bit and nods over to the other ladies.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn grins and nods to Alice, "Right! I mean, why would someone leave behind this beautiful mansion for like, a tiny house, assuming all of us are accepted back home?" she shrugs, "After my mutation manifested, my mom shipped me off to live with my grandparents and they homeschooled me and hid me as much as possible. It sucked!"

She smiles and waves to Sam. "Hii Sam, Hows it going?"

Red has posed:
Alice chuckles a moment as she grabs the edge to pull herself up some, working on getting out that speedo. "The loving embrace of your telepathic mom and your green dad?" Alice teaes back to Megan. "You are missing out on something.

She nods to Sam as she pulls the sharkskin suit into the pool, working on getting it wet all over bevore she fights with getting into it for a few moments, then resorts just to stretch the material and adjust the foamed neoprene so it got on easy while standing on the litte ledge of the pool. Just to prevent drowning.

Prismatic has posed:
"An ancient agreement forged through centuries of journeying across the stars, in order to meet again to save me from my lonliness?" Alexis bats her big, dark eyes at Sam, and Alexises... sort of blushes, and rubs the back of her head.

"... I suppose my summers from school were a bit more relaxed, though I was raised in majority by my maternal grandmother, my paternal grandparents had me most of the summer. And... then I sort of ran away and lived in New York on the streets for a while. Definitely a different sort of skillset than boarding schools." she admits. "My school didn't have a pool, though. If we wanted to swim, we had to ask permission from the groundskeeper to go bathing in the lake.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and says "We we got the lake as well, as a few ponds around here." He admits, and says "So what are we talking about today?" He asks and will find a seat near Alexis, and says "Before here was a normal public school in a small town for me."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn stares blankly in Alice, "...Huh? Is that what your family is like?" she smiles and looks politely away as Sam and Alexis exchange kisses. How romantic..Though she blinks in surprise. "On the streets? What was that like? Must have Kinda sucked.." she pouts, "MaybeI didn't have it so bad.."

Looking to Sam, Megan smiles and shrugs, swimming closer to the edge to peer back at the others, "We were talking about the last few weeks of summer, why some people chose to go home or stay at the school over summer break."

Red has posed:
Alice struggles with the zipper of the suit as Megan asks, shrugging some but then nods. "Sure. Who wouldn't want a green mechanic dad, live in M-Town and fear the purifiers getting out of hand?"

But she manages to close the suit, pondering about it a moment before she does what she does with her boots: seal it. Because, hey, even less friction if there was no zipper, and this was an experiment if it would make her faster, right?

Prismatic has posed:
"Ah, yes, well..." Alexis states, and she looks embarrassed. "It certainly makes you appreciate a good meal when you don't know when your next one will be. Showers too. All of the indoor plumbing thing, really. I learned how to fake a decent New York Brogue when I had to, went from shelter to shelter. Played in the streets for food money... certainly a far cry from the estate in the countryside or my grandparents' winery in Abruzzi."

She straightens her long T-shirt a moment as she thinks. "But I learned quickly how to survive without resorting to hurting others. No drugs, no theivery. ... occasional tresspassing, if the building was moderately waterproof during a storm. But-- I spent an awful lot of cold New York Nights huddled on a thin mattress and a single blanket in a women's shelter."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods and says "And she still goes back to help at them." He will tell the others "I think the second time or third time we met, was at a shelter I was dropping some things off and she was teaching a kid piano." He grins over at her, and he hmms "Anyone want something to drink?" He heads to the wet bar area.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn blinks slowly, "WOW...Geez sorry to hear that." she sighs, "That really sucks but...At least things are better here now, right?" she smiles, playfully splashing water everywhere, "Anyway, let's all have fun! Only a few weeks left of summer, right?"

Red has posed:
Alice says, "Things are better since the Sentinels are no more. Still, someone should have incarcerated Trask better..." Alice notes, stretcing as she tests the suit, then slips fully into the water again to test it on a round. Not that she is a perfect swimmer."

Prismatic has posed:
"Entertaining a bunch of kids while their parents were in a support group with a lively New York rendition of the Merry-Go-Round broke Down. Second time we met. First time I was admiring your motorcycle, love. I think the third time you came accross me playing in Central Park, and I thought I had a stalker." she jokes, and Alexis turns to Megan, and she takes a deep breath, and leans back a moment.

"I'm not telling you this to go 'oh no my life was so bad'. I also had fourteen years of living with a silver spoon in my mouth and teaching master classes in violin and piano before I could legally drive. My grandparents are still in Abruzzi, and I could go visit them any time I like. I could say 'Nonna, I'm hungry' and she might *find* me." she gives a wry grin. "Which is why I offered an Urban Survival class for the summer, though no one seems to have bitten."

"... mm. Hot enough to warrant it -- unsweetened iced tea?" she calls out, teasingly.

"And yes. The Sentinels were a tragedy. *No one* should have to live in fear like that."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie makes a face at the unsweetened part but does smile at her. He gets himself some rather sweet, and comes walking back over to them giving Alexis her tea, and says "I got a feeling you called either grandma and said I need, and before you got anything else out they would have been coming to check on you.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn blinks at Alice and alexis, "No really, sounds like your lives were really harsh..I'm sorry but I hope things are better here at least?" though as the alarm on her phone in her pocket next to the pool rings she frowns, climbing out of the pool. "Oooh I gotta go, gotta meet some wine, but it was nice talking to you all...See y'all later!" she smiles as she grabs her clothes and hurrying away.
