Eggs ala Warren
Date of Scene: 12 January 2021
Location: Kitchen - Xavier's School
Synopsis: Breakfast with the students turns into a impromptu call with the Avengers.
Cast of Characters: Archangel, Dazzler, SpyderByte, Nightingale, Phoenix, Siphon, Kenshi, Sabretooth, Falcon

Archangel has posed:
The kitchen at Xavier's tends to be a busy place in the mornings. There is usually at least one person in there at all times either getting coffee, or making a breakfast, and today is no exception. Today it is Warren's turn to slave over the stove. Wearing what appear to be some silken pajamas, modified for the wings on his back, as well as a chef's apron over the front to protect the expensive material from splatter the winged mutant stands in front of the stove whisking a bowl full of what appear to be eggs and some other ingredients by the items left out all over the counter.

He whistles to himself, nothing immediately noticeable but rather a random tune in his head as he preps breakfast for himself, and possible other with as much as he is making.

Dazzler has posed:
The low, rhythmic whirring of wheels on hardwood announces someone's approach to the kitchen. Alison Blaire is already awake, and from the look of things she has been for a while. Roller skates add several inches to her height, the blonde wearing sky blue yoga pants and a matching sports bra. Her pale skin glistens, fresh from her morning exercise apparently.

She glides right up to the fridge, opening the door and noticing Warren in the same motion. "New cook?" she quips, pouring herself a tall glass of orange juice. Yeah, and all cooks have wings, apparently.

SpyderByte has posed:
The sound of chains clinking can be heard as Jeremy makes his way into the kitchen. The gothic-technopath is wearing a pair of black bondage jeans with chains hanging off them, as well as a long sleeve shirt and a black trench coat. A dog collar around his neck completes his ensemble. As he heads for the fridge, he opens it up to take a peek inside, then fishes out some cheesesticks.

Looking over at Warren for a moment, then Dazzler, his eyes widen a bit at her clothing, cheeks flushing for a moment before he makes his way over to the table to sit down. He works out a energy drink from his coat and cracks it open with a hiss. Out comes his phone and he starts to tap away on it with his thumbs.

Nightingale has posed:
Another familiar face is in the kitchen this morning, also working at the stove. The mansion's resident healer in training, Shannon, is there in light blue jeans, a plain white t-shirt with two slits on the back near the spine, and some old white sneakers, her pale gold hair pinned up in a bun to keep it out of the food. To one side of her is a good sized bowl of whisked eggs, a plate stacked high with thick slices of bread, and a frying pan in front of her. At a safe distance to prevent food splatters from ruining it, her phone is on the counter, blasting some New Orleans jazz.

When life goes to Hades in a handbasket, you make comfort food.

In this case, it was in keeping with the 'breakfast for lunch theme', adding French toast to the mix. She's shaking what her momma gave her, dancing around as she fries up the egg-coated slices of goodness. "Think this is going to be enough?" she asks Warren, chuckling.

Jeremy and Dazzler both get a smile and a wave of the spatula in her hand. "Hi! Hope you two are hungry!"

Phoenix has posed:
Word had it that Jean had returned to the school in the overnight hours and had been holed up in the War Room for a good while. After a brief and troubled few hours of sleep, she's emerging on the quest for coffee to banish some of the exhausted fog that sets dark circles under her eyes. She's got on a lavender t-shirt, black sweatpants, and one of those lightweight jersey robes in grey over all of that. She definitely looks like she doesn't want to be awake and is dressed accordingly.

"Hey everyone." She mumbles on the tail end of a yawn as she comes into view. "That smells good, Shannon. Holding up alright?" She asks of the young cook in specific.

Siphon has posed:
After sspending the last few weeks, including the holidays cooped up in a jury rigged null-energy cage with regular cryotherapy, Tabitha had sort of forgotten what fresh air and sunlight felt like. She's not really feeling the sunlight, though due to the moderately flexible frame that's wrapped around her torso and extremeties. It's less kitbash than the cage but still very much a rough prototype. It does it job, though which is to prevent her aura from forming its energy absorbing evennt horizon.

Can't build up dangerous overload energy levels if she can't absorb any energy, after all.

The tiny chalk skinned sophmore is moving a little stiffly and her pitch black eyes are darting around. It's strange only seeing with her eyes again. But her nose is still working fine and it's led her to the kitchen door. She doesn't go in just yet, content to hover and peek.

Archangel has posed:
Glancing aside at Dazzler, Warren studies the unknown woman for a moment before he lets out a little chuckle, "I suppose I might be new to you, but I have been at this stove probably at least a hundred times over the years. Or near that number. It has been a lot at any rate. Care for some eggs? I was just about to scramble up a batch, and there is bacon in the oven. Or you can wait till Shannon is done with the French Toast."

Wiping his hand on his apron, Warren offers it over to Alison. "Warren Worthington," he offers as he turns his head to look at Shannon, "Double it. If I know anything about this place is that as soon as you think you have made enough, more people come out of the woodwork and you run out."

Jeremy gets a smiles, "Hey Jer. Did you want some eggs or toast? You should probably eat more than just the cheese."

As Jean enters, Warren's attention shifts over to the redhead and he half-smiles towards his old friend, "Hey Red. Coffee is in the pot, and I'll have eggs and bacon up in a few moments. Glad to see you made it back ok. Was a little worried when you didn't come back with us."

Dazzler has posed:
Dazzler drinks deeply, then refills the glass once Jeremy sneaks by to swipe some cheese sticks. The popstar/teacher offers a wry smile when his eyes widen. Hey, teachers are allowed to dress comfortably! At least she's not out skating in a bikini like in California, right? Using one toe-bumper to control her rolling, the blonde looks to be quite comfortable with the roller skates.

Shifting the juice glass to her other hand, she accepts the offered hand in her own. "Nice to meet you, Warren. Alison Blaire. Contemporary Music Teacher. And yes, I'm also 'Dazzler' when I'm wearing the blue eye makeup and spandex."

Turning to the others, then, (mostly Shannon), she adds with a wave. "Just fill a plate for me. I'm not picky." Jean's question of Shannon gets a brow lift, but that's all for the moment.

SpyderByte has posed:
As he unwraps the cheesestick, Jeremy takes a nip off the top of it, followed by a long guzzle of the energy drink in the rather sizable and colorful can. The breakfast of champions. Glancing upwards as the others arrive, he offers up a brief smile towards Tabitha, tilting his head to the seat next to him.

Somewhere in the kitchen, a speaker that's set up for music chimes with a digitized voice of his. << I like eggs and toast. >>

He taps the glass along his phone a few more times, glancing down at it for a moment before he flips it over upside down the table. He tilts his head to Jean as she walks in, straightening up a bit.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon lets out a brief whuff of laughter, shaking her head at Warren. "Ain't that the truth! Never fails with the mac 'n cheese. You oughta see all the vultures circling when I bust out a batch of the stuff. I swear folks here have black holes somewhere in their stomachs!"

Glancing over at Miss Grey, her smile falters somewhat. On the surface of her mind, and even a good ways below the surface, there is good humor and perhaps even hope. But in the darker corners, there is fear, worry, uncertainty, and sadness. Somehow, though, raw determination seems to be holding everything together. She's silent for several moments, seeming to weigh her response. "Mixed bag there, miss Grey. If you want, we can talk later, but let's just say..." She glances briefly at Jeremy, and smiles a bit. "We'll go with 'faking it till I make it' for now."

There was no sense, after all, in bothering to try and fudge the truth around her.

Her eyebrows loft as she sees Tabitha's latest getup, and smiles a bit more. "Heya, Tabby. Dr. McCoy help with that one?"

Phoenix has posed:
"Oh you know me," Jean begins to say to Warren with a fond grin. "I do my best thinking without thinking first. I had a close call, but it paid off. I found where they went and got a look inside. Not as much as I'd have liked, but I ran out of time. You may be able to help me out with that, Jer."

There's a squint of green eyes as she looks from Warren to Alison and back again. "Wait...how in *all* of these years have you two not met? Must have had you on opposite sides of the room in meetings." She asks with a note of confusion before shaking her head and heading for the coffee pot.

As she passes by Shannon, she reaches out to give the girl's shoulder a squeeze and an understanding smile, "We'll figure it out. You're still here, and that's what matters. Ah, hey Tabitha. Just in time for brunch, it seems."

Siphon has posed:
One of these days Tabitha will learn how to use her complete lack of stature or size to hide better. One of these days. Since she's been spotted she slips into the room, making her way to the chair by Jeremy and climbing up into it. Once she's sat down she fidgets in place trying to get all of the bands, bars, and less identifiable aparatus into a more comfortable position.

Shannon's question gets a brief nod. "Yeah. Said he'd do a 'second draft' of it later, but this beats being cooped up downstairs. Andd if it works I won't need to be flash frozen anymore.

Jean's remark gets a quick grin that doesn't quite turn into a giggle. "As if I'd miss a meal on my first day of freedom." Her gaze shifts back to Shannon's well, back several times but she tries not to get caught staring.

Archangel has posed:
Shaking the hand and letting it go, Warren goes back to whisking the eggs after the introduction, tossing a pinch of salt into the mixture. "Well, have a seat and I will bring a plate over when they are ready. Same with you, Jeremy. Eggs and toast on a plate coming right up, it shouldn't be more than a few minutes."

Jean gets a bit of a frown, "And Scott hasn't let you have it up one wall and down the other for that? Or do you just get a pass for being the fiancé? Because we both know if I had pulled a stunt like that he would have been all over my ass." Warren sighs, dumping the egg mixture into the pan in front of him, starting to scramble the eggs with a practiced hand. A quick look to Dazzler and back to Jean, Warren shrugs a shoulder causing one of his wings to flutter, "I don't know, Red, but I am certain I would have remembered a pretty face like that."

Warren gives Shannon another sympathetic look. "We could always try a transfusion. Sometimes it helps with things, sometimes it doesn't but as long as we are compatible it can't hurt to try. Maybe we should try with Logan and Megan as well."

Dazzler has posed:
"More like opposite sides of reality." Dazzler replies to Jean, almost casually. And she seems serious, too. Alison shifts, feet swooshing in smooth, lazy arcs to glide over to the counter on the skates. "Sitting in regular chairs while wearing skates just doesn't work very well." she replies. Leaning on one hand, she sips her juice and glances around to follow the conversation.

Something has definitely been going on, and she can take a good guess, but Ali knows that this is neither the time nor the place to talk about it. "I've been doing some time touring, so it's not all THAT much of a surprise."

Nightingale has posed:
"Well... what about something like the cooling layers that astronauts use under their spacesuits?" Shannon asks, canting her head slightly to one side. "Might offer a little more flexibility, bleed off some of that energy, and maybe be a bit more comfortable for you. If it can work for them, why can't something similar be applied here?" The stares at her back aren't missed, and she cracks a bit of a smile at Tabitha. "Come on up to my dorm a little later for some cocoa, I'll tell you what happened."

Sadness shifts to steely determination, her smile turning into something more akin to a smirk as she nods to Miss Grey. "Yeah we will. I'm game for Warren's idea if you think it'll do any good. Meantime, I'm just gonna study that much harder, ace the state EMT exam, and let that be my big fat middle finger in the eye of the yahoos who think they can get away with BS like this. And I'm also happy to help with finding a cure to the Cure, if Dr. McCoy needs a guinea pig for it."

Smiling to Jeremy, she nods, getting a plate and sliding a couple slices of French toast onto it. She passes this over to Warren, chuckling. "Eggs up for the gentleman?"

SpyderByte has posed:
Leaning over to bump his shoulder against Tabitha's, Jeremy offers her up a smile before he reaches up to give a light tug on the collar around his throat. He takes another bite of his cheesestick as he waits for food to arrive. He glances back and forth between Warren and Dazzler for a moment, squinting his eyes before he looks to Jean.

Rubbing the back of his neck, he takes his fingers through his unruly long black dyed hair, then nods his head. The speaker nearby chimes. << We can meet today. I am ready when you are to assist. >>

Most likely he has a clue already. His fingers brush over the back of his phone as it lays face down on the table, then looks to Shannon and nods his head. Good advice.

Phoenix has posed:
"Tck, he knows it's a losing argument." Jean replies to Warren with an amused cluck of her tongue. "But I still get the hurt look of having kept him up with worry and you know he takes grumping to an artform."

She pours herself some much needed coffee before finding a wall out of the way to lean against. "I'm not opposed to transfusions so long as it's safe. Just make sure there's no chance of anything coming back across to infect you, Warren. Any chance that we have to reverse this, we should investigate."

To Jeremy she says, "We'll meet up after any of your classes, I should at least be more awake then. If you're done, then we can chat after you eat."

Siphon has posed:
Tabitha leans into the shoulder bump from Jeremy, then shudders a bit at Shannon's suggestion. "The idea is to avoid making me cold, please. The harness is so I can avoid more cryo treatments." She glances down briefly as a shadow passes over her expression. "Yeah. No more of that, please." She does nod about cocoa later with a smile.

Archangel has posed:
Warren ahs slightly at the mention of traveling around time and realities. "It isn't the sitting down that messes with you, it's the trying to get back up when you have no way to support your weight beneath yo...damn, now I am sounding like Hank," Warren laughs.

Warren mixes the eggs quickly, pushing them around so no one spot is on the heat for overly long. Once they are done he starts to shovel the egg mixture onto plates as they are passed over. He looks to Shannon again, "We will figure something out. Knowing Hank, he isn't going to sleep a wink until he has something or he passes out from sheer exhaustion."

"Doesn't mean he doesn't have the argument. It's Scott, loosing or not he likes to lay down the law." The blonde mutant winks at his longtime friend before casting a look between Jean and Shannon, nodding in agreement, "I'll get a pint drawn out into a bag, no risk of cross-infection that way"

"Ok, first plate is up, who wants it?" the winged mutant calls as he places a couple pieces of bacon on the plate as well, completing the first of the brunch platters.

Dazzler has posed:
Dazzler chuckles softly, leaning against the counter and drinking her juice. She takes a plate when one is passed over to her, although she doesn't necessarily jump at the first one. "I know it's not normally how we roll, but has there been talk about... dismantling... the Cure operation?" Because Alison came out years ago as a public mutant. And proud of it.

And make no mistake about it, this unassuming woman in roller skates has been wearing her pop star makeup more on X-Men ops lately than on stage. "I'm not talking about going off the reservation or anything, but what we're talking about could -technically- be considered Assault."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon winces a bit, and smiles sheepishly. "Sorry about that, Tabby. Same idea, though, a more flexible suit than a framework. Stuff's kind of got my head in a whirl."

Looking back over at Warren as she dips another slice of bread into the bowl of egg mixture at her station, she nods. "I can believe that. Really hope he's okay, though. All this has got to be hitting him particularly hard." Worry lingers in the edges of her voice, making it tremble just slightly.

But even that shifts into something harder, a steely note threaded through her voice, her brows furrowing as she looks over at Dazzler. "No question about it. What should have been a choice for those who have mutations that are actually harmful, was turned into a weapon against those who never asked for that kind of thing. If that's not assault, what is?"

SpyderByte has posed:
Giving a motion to Tabitha, it seems that Jeremy is okay with the small girl being the first to get food. He still has two bites of cheesestick left. One, now. Nom. He glances back and forth between those engaged in conversation, sipping along his large can of energy drink.

<< I can talk whenever you want. I am scoring exceptionally high in all of my classes, if I am late or miss one it won't have an impact. I can just download the coursework while we talk. >>

He lifts a hand and rubs at his nose gently.

Kenshi has posed:
Akihiro can hear noise coming from the kitchen before he actually gets there, casually tying on his black apron before he arrives. Actually goes rather well with his casual attire. The din of hungry students awaiting his return is familiar to him, so when he enters the kitchen... Well, the sight of Jean and Scott alone gives him pause. The Professor always did have him under their command, and how to conduct himself now that student life is over? That's always an internal debate. What's more, people everywhere in the kitchen, all cooking.

"Sorry," Akihiro says, his accent sounding through just briefly before he clears his throat and corrects it. "Have I been fired, or is my cooking just that bad?" He flashes his teeth in a slight grin as he asks, trying to casually slip into the exchange and offer some levity at the same time. He already knows what the conversation's about. "Whatever's going on medically, I'm available if you need volunteers. For anything else, too." What he could mean by that is ever so broad.

Aki may have been usurped where the making of breakfast is concerned, but he still has work to do here. Sword bound to his back, he starts into the task of prepping for the lunch rush, getting plates and dishes ready before the matter of food is even addressed.

Phoenix has posed:
"The short version is that this is a former military operation that went rogue, taking research meant to help mutants with powers that were harmful to themselves or others and is now weaponized. Research that Hank himself helped create. The Reavers are also involved now." Jean says from where she rests, frowning into her coffee cup. "And like usual, the normal government isn't going too far our of their way to help us, even now that we're being outright attacked in the streets. So Magneto and his lot are just full to bursting with 'we told you so'. So for now, it's best everyone stay in as much as possible if they're at all identifiable as mutant. It doesn't seem like they have any tech to tell, but I don't want to risk it."

"I know where they are now and where they're keeping captives," She continues. "So once we can get some more information we can work on taking the fight to them. So, expect a ping for a team meeting soon, Warren."

Ah, good afternoon, Akhiro. Shannon's just doing her usual culinary relaxation, the lunch rush is still on for people who aren't late to breakfast like the lot of us."

Archangel has posed:
Warren gives Jean a look, "It's not like I am going to shy away from these fu...people, Jean. I have things to do, and it isn't like I am the hardest guy to find. If they want a piece of me, they know where to find me." He pops a piece of bacon into this mouth as he preps another plate, sliding it down the counter into the 'done' section to let whomever grab it as he starts assembling the next plate. "I'm not going to hide. They want to come after a high-profile guy like me at WI, let them," he growls out angrily. "Maybe before we hit this place you can bring out my other half. I'm sure he would like to say hi."

Akihiro's arrival calms Warren down enough to offer a smile, "Of course not. I just felt like making some eggs, then Shannon decided we needed French Toast..and it just kind of snowballed from there. Have a seat, let one of us cook and serve you for once."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon looks utterly clueless at Akihiro, no hint of recognition whatsoever in her expression. But she does smile, waving her spatula in his direction. "Didn't mean to make anyone feel bad," she says. "Miss Grey's right, this is how I chill out. Maybe I could learn a thing or two from you sometime."

Miss Grey and Warren get a surprisingly flinty look from the young woman, her voice lowered to something of a growl. "Nail those bastards, will ya? For Megan and Logan, too."

Turning the burner at her station off, she moves the frying pan to a back burner, handle turned away, and backs off, moving over to join Jeremy. Unless stopped, he winds up the recipient of a particularly fierce hug. "Fake it till I make it."

SpyderByte has posed:
There's a 'wark' noise from Jeremy as he is manhandled into a hug. The Gothic gives a smile as he leans into her a bit, peeking out from behind his black bangs. He blows some away from his face, then wiggles out some fingers free so that he can get a piece of toast and take a bite from it.

<< I can always use a nuclear solution upon them if necessary. I have the means and ability to do so. I just need an access point. >>

The speaker next to the toaster speaks in his digital voice, then bounces over to a speaker next to the fridge.

<< I am sure I can find something extremely damaging that Shield would like to know about. >>

Kenshi has posed:
Akihiro waves his hands briefly in front of himself, his head shaking. "No hurt feelings to apologize for. I was just joking," he says, continuing to grin faintly as he gets more plates and cutlery lined up. Warren's offer prompts a chuckle. "If only! This goes toward my college credits, you know, and a lot of hungry people to feed. Maybe after final meals for the day, assuming I don't cook something special for somebody on a favor." That seems to remind him of something. The young man stops to head for a large pot at the end of the range, which he opens just long enough to stir a bit and take a fleeting sip of. "Coming along well..." Mystery something, indeed.

Until so requested to assist, Akihiro pretends he's not hearing any of the sensitive information being spread about. "Miss Grey, Mister Worthington. You know Aki's fine." The titles are still used in respect, though he adds with a chuckle, "I knew I wasn't fired. If I were, I'd be receiving a mental scolding or ten from the Professor right now. He didn't take me this far to see me fall in the kitchen."

Akihiro gets back to his work as he starts lining up some ingredients from the fridge area, gathered together the night before for today's lunch rush. It took some time, but the young man's really gotten used to handling the school's culinary demands. "Anything I can make for anyone? Sushi's on the menu today for the kids! You all get whatever you want, though, of course."

Sabretooth has posed:
Victor is hungry.

Kitchens usually serve food.

Obvious choice. Though Victor has been trying less to just hunt out in the woods for food, especially since rabbits taste bad, but the tall man's boots are audible before he even enters the kitchen. Of course, as soon as he finally enters the kitchen, he looks around to see multiple familiar and new faces alike.

He grumbles as he slides one of his claws across the countertop out of habit, or just to get everyone's attention.

"What's for food?" He growls out, the slightest of smirks coming across his face, which helpfully shows off one of his larger-than-usual fangs.

Phoenix has posed:
"No nuclear option just yet. Since they have captives, I want to make sure we get them clear first." Jean says to Jeremy. "But I'll touch on all of that later. They're my first priority, closely followed by shutting these guys down permanently."

As to the offer of food, she says quietly, "I'm good right now, thanks. I have coffee. I'll get something to eat later once I'm done working."

Upon noticing Victor's arrival, she jerks a thumb towards the hulking man, "You can get him something, though. Hello, Victor."

SpyderByte has posed:
As he slides his phone over into his hands, Jeremy flips it over and peers down at it. He focuses for a moment in concentration, squeezing the device between his hands. He gives a bit of a shudder as his eyes rapidly flick a few times before he slowly tilts his head to one side.

As his lips move silently, words start to scroll along the screen, followed by what appears to be a static dinging noise. Something like an old 90's modem. He gives a bit of a nod to Jean at her words, then stiffens up at the sight of Victor.

He still terrifies him in the worst of ways.

The speaker next to the toaster speaks up again. << I am currently speaking to The Falcon of the Avengers. He says that Captain America is on a mission and wants to know if we have an emergency. I hacked their internal communications by backtracking through their public tips line. Should I put him on speaker phone? >>

Archangel has posed:
"Jean, you are never done working. Who are you kidding?" Warren scoffs, setting offering the plate in Victor's direction as he looks to the man. "That enough, or should I give you a double helping of bacon and eg..." the Archangel begins to say before he slowly turns and looks towards Jeremy. "Wait. You did what now exactly?"

Warren gives Jean a look that is equal parts confusion and worry combined with just a dash of being impressed. "Well, I'm pretty sure that is your call there, Red. Not my circus, not my monkeys."

Akihiro had a plate shoved in his direction anyway, regardless of the protest. "You. Eat. I'll help with the kitchen set up after, need to help clean up in here anyway."

Kenshi has posed:
Akihiro's quick to shake his head at Jean as she refuses in favor of her coffee. "Won't hear of it! You're a busy woman. Can't go around without a bit of decent food in you," he says as he fetches a fillet of fish along with a knife. "Only takes two seconds, anyway." The young man does indeed work very quickly, knowing his way around a blade for obvious reasons, if the sword secured to his back is any indication. With accuracy and speed another person might lop their own fingers off attempting, he cuts the fish into almost paper thin slices. Out comes the seaweed wrap, the glutenous rice, a few other things some may or may not recognize. He's putting together something quick for Jean, sure, but it's fancy enough.

After a while longer of hearing this discussion go on around him, he sighs in his usual roughened voice and speaks to Jean. "I am ready to help with whatever's being planned. I heard about Logan. That's enough reason for me," Aki says, glancing over his shoulder again at the mystery pot. Maybe it's something for said clawed one.

Just as he finishes touching off what turns out to be a set of tekkamaki rolls for Jean, which he places before her as if they weren't works of art, he finds himself confronted first by Warren's plate. The young man puts his hands together and bows his head in appreciation as he chuckles, leaning slightly toward showing his Japanese side in the gesture of gratitude. "I'll find my way into eating it somehow," he says as he peers back toward Victor, "but I think I just had another meal service added to today's schedule. Thank you, Mister Worthington."

Never one for cross contamination, Akihiro washes his hands thoroughly and still has them in the towel as he turns to look at Victor. "What suits you? I've already got sushi ingredients together for the kids. For you, whatever you like. I think we've got a few big cuts of this and that in the back, could put it together for you." Akihiro's all smiles again, even after that brief exchange with Jean.

Nightingale has posed:
The moment Jeremy mentions the Avengers, and particularly Sam Wilson, Shannon lofts her eyebrows. "The Falcon?" she asks. With a bit of a sheepish smile, she rubs the back of her neck, and shrugs. "Does this mean I still have to keep quiet about the school if I run into him a third time?"

There's no way to miss that scraping of claws, or that forbidding, growling voice. Though her smile fades and she does tense, she neatly puts herself in between Victor and Jeremy, offering a simple nod of greeting to the former.

Sabretooth has posed:
Victor just nods at Jean before his attention shifts to Jeremy. He notices him stiffen and his heart rate increasing, so he just snarls at him with a toothy grin. Though news of the Avengers makes him frown. "Hhhhnnnh. Avengers." Victor shakes his head.

Though the offered plate from Warren is looked at with a critical eye. "I'll take a double helping, rich boy." he tells Warren.

Then there's Akihiro. More food! "You got steak?" He asks of Akihiro. "If you do, give it to me rare. I'll take the damned sushi though."

Victor proceeds to leave his arms at his sides as he makes his way to a nearby chair.

Phoenix has posed:
Jean Grey reaches up with her mugless hand to pinch the brow of her nose. Warren had it right, she's always working. "Jer, warn me before you set up conference calls in the kitchen. Shannon, I still have no idea how you keep running into everyone." She holds up a quick finger to request a moment and shoots Akihiro a murmured thanks aside as the plate is delivered. She tosses back a piece of sushi, washing it down with hot coffee like the monster that she is, and gestures to Jeremy.

"If he wants to chat now, fine. Otherwise Scott and I can ping the Avengers later. It's quite possible we may need their help, so I suppose it doesn't hurt to check in with them. I hate needing their help, but they have an obvious advantage in this fight. At least most of them."

SpyderByte has posed:
<< He can talk now. I am patching him in. This will be a secured line and untraceable as long as I maintain connection to it. I am bouncing the signal all around China currently. >>

Jeremy offers up a sheepish smile to Jean before he gives another focus on the device in his hands. He turns his attention to the speaker next to the fridge and there is another rapid flicker of his eyes.

<< Hello Mister Falcon. I am Spyder Byte. You are now connected. Thank you for taking our call. As to who we are, we are mutants who are tired of being gunned down in the streets by psedo government agencies trying to cure us. We are curious to know if the Avengers plan on supporting us. A few of us know Captain America and was hoping to talk to him. >>

He side glances Victor for a moment before he shuffles in closer to Shannon, picking at his bacon. His voice is digital and staticy that comes through, meant to be falsified.

Archangel has posed:
Akihiro gets a vague wave of his hand, "Warren, please. Mr. Worthington sounds like I am at the office, or trying to sell a used car. Just call me Warren."

Giving Victor a look, the winged mutant takes the plate and adds a few more spoonful's of egg, and couple more pieces of bacon to the plate before passing it back towards Victor. "This is what you get. If there are leftovers, you can have those after the fact if you can behave and be house trained."

Wiping his hands on the apron he wears, he steps away from the food and closer towards the table so he can hear if indeed things do go to speakerphone. "This should be interesting," falling silent as the call starts, folding his arms over his chest.

Falcon has posed:
Falcon: <<Hey Spyder Byte. I can't speak for the whole team, but I will say that I don't plan on sitting this thing out. The idea of forcefully changing people against their will gets me really damn angry. I'm pretty sure Cap feels the same way. Dude used to hunt Nazis back in the day, after all, don't see him stopping now.>>

Kenshi has posed:
Akihiro seems to be appeased when Jean doesn't fight the small meal he's made for her. "Enjoy, Miss Grey," he says in a soft voice, "and please know again, I am here to help in whatever way is necessary." He reaches up as if to tuck a bit of his hair back under his bandana, but from Jean's angle, his fingertips clearly tap the hilt of the katana secured to his back. Just like that, he's back to smiling and doing his work.

"Right, Warren. I forget sometimes," Akihiro says, smiling. "Wasn't so long ago that I was a student. Suddenly, the misters and misses are being waved off. Gets a little confusing!" He takes one bite of the eggs made for him by Warren after he finishes cleaning up, and then tosses the towel aside to get to work. Victor is a challenge worthy of his time, after all.

"Steak? Course I've got steak. You think I run some second rate kitchen with the budget they give me?" Akihiro bares his teeth at Victor in a grin and then heads around for the back, commenting over his shoulder, "One steak, just short of a moo, up shortly." Best that he gets around back and away from being chatty, anyway. There's a call coming in.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon just chuckles and shakes her head, shrugging as she glances over at Miss Grey. "Neither do I, but it happens. If it helps any, he sounded pretty disgusted by the whole incident in Bushwick when I ran into...." Her voice trails off just as the call begins, and she grins a bit sheepishly, gesturing towards the phone in a 'see, told you so' sort of way.

As for Victor and his appetite? She was quite content to let Akihiro deal with it this time. For her own part, she kept herself in between Jeremy and Victor, with the latter hopefully distracted by food soon enough.

Sabretooth has posed:
Victor just grumbles at Akihiro. Guess that means 'thank you' in Sabre-speak? Though his attention shifts to Warren a little bit before he's given eggs and bacon as an appetizer. He growls at Warren's comments, his claws extending ever so slightly, but he's hungry and can clip a bird's wings later.

Or, won't. Damn this playing nice.

He turns his attention to the speaker phone as he ravenously begins eating his meal. He listens closely to what's being said, just in case its something he'll have to help with or he sees something in it.

Phoenix has posed:
"Falcon, thanks for taking our call unannounced." Jean says after she's managed to rapid-fire another piece of sushi. Leave it to her to make battle plans over lunch because she's been out getting into trouble. "I wouln't take up too much of your time over the line. I'm Phoenix of the X-Men. It sounds like you're already up to speed on what's been going on. This isn't what any of us figured the whole nonsense with Metaforce would bubble over to, but that's how these things go."

"The short version is that I tracked DAMT to one of their facilities. I managed to get a look inside and determine where they are holding numerous still-powered mutants captive. The X-Men are going to be *addressing* this," And she says that with all due gravity, then kind that suggests that they're doing this regardless and with force. "But we're at an obvious disadvantage, where as the men, women - and gods - of the Avengers aren't. We're going to need help. the government has never been one to help much, and by the time the red tape is sorted out we may already be too late to stop this."

She pauses just a moment to let that sink in - and likely mentally apologize to Scott for setting up plans without him - before continuing, "We'd like to get together with the Avengers to formulate a plan of attack. We can come to you, or you can come to us - leadership knows where we are and that arrival should be by mundane means. I'm not asking for you to speak for them now, but if the Avengers are willing to help then we'd greatly appreciate it. We'd certainly owe you all one. I'd bet anything that mutants are only the start, and if they go unchecked they'll start looking towards other metahumans."

Falcon has posed:
Falcon: <<Hey Phoenix. I'll speak with the rest of the team as soon as possible, get everyone on board. If they're holding people against their will it's the business of anybody who considers themselves to be on the side of right to get involved, whether or not these assholes plan to move onto metahumans. We can probably host you at the Mansion, I just gotta make some confirmations.>>

Archangel has posed:
Warren shifts from foot to foot, anxious as the feathers of his wings ruffle out behind him. He remains quiet as the call continues, folding his arms over his chest as he casts a glance Jean's way for her response.

Phoenix has posed:
"Sounds good." Jean says in response, probably in no small part relieved to hear it. Did she doubt them? "The Avengers have a direct line to us, so when you've got an answer let us know. We can be on the move in minutes. Thanks again, Falcon."

Nightingale has posed:
For once, Shannon keeps quiet, although there is a very satisfied smile as she hears of the willingness of allies to step in. It was good to know that there were still those willing to lend a hand out there, and that her faith in allies had not been misplaced. A hug is given each to Warren, Jeremy, and Miss Grey, the relief rolling off of her in almost palpable waves.

Falcon has posed:
Falcon: <<Alright folks, I'm going to sign off. Got some work to do if we're going to put this operation into motion. Stay safe.>>

Sabretooth has posed:
Victor has already devoured the meal that Warren had given him. and no doubt, he's already getting to work on the steak that Akihiro had cooked up. Silverware is not something that Victor is used to, but he does -try- to use it. Other times, he's just using his sharp teeth to rip and tear the meat.

He does listen in to the conversation though. "Hnnnh. Guess I'll help." He growls.

Archangel has posed:
Taking some initiative, Warren speaks up with a grin as Jean tends to the bite of sushi she had stuffed into her mouth. "Understood, Falcon. Archangel out."
