Synopsis: The finale of the Mutant Kidnapping plot!
Cast of Characters: Iron Man, Melinda May, Moon Knight, Iceman, Hawkeye (Barton), Harley Quinn, War Machine
Tinyplot: Mutant Kidnappings

Iron Man has posed:
The alarm was raised that the mutant kidnappers have surfaced. The warning originated small, with Rogue's contact, Penny Ross. Penny was a mutant rescued from the lab facility in Gotham on the previous mission, and has been in the hospital since then, recovering from her ordeal. Rogue and Drake had checked on her, and given her a phone and contactfor the Avengers...
And the girl needed, and even better, has USED it. She called for help suddenly, saying that "they" had come for her at the hospital. Penny's warning has proven to be something a lot larger than it first appeared: attempted contact with the hospital led to dead lines. And now, the Avengers are responding up front. Tony sent the word across to Hawkeye at the Triskelion - and through him, any SHIELD that is able to pitch in. The word went to the X-Men as well this time: there may be mutants on the site, and their help would be very appreciated.

It's barely 4pm now. Iron Man is in full bore, a bright streak of heat through the sky as he cuts a path towards the Gotham hospital. Iron Man gives the information he has as soon as he has it: there are ambulances outside arranged in a strange line, and a few of multiple military vans on the opposite side, blocking in the parking area entrance, though not the exit. The signal from the Penny's phone has not moved, it is still in the fifth floor, west wing zone, supposedly a psych ward area.

"Anyone thinking of joining me? Am I honestly early?" Tony asks over the open comms, hovering in place just to the east of the hospital, pausing to fiddle with checking for additional communications from other heroes that might turn up. As much fun as talking to himself truly is.

Melinda May has posed:
"No, Stark. You're late as usual." Though May won't admit aloud that the only reason there is a quinjet already hovering above the hospital's medevac helipad is because Clint received the Avengers call while they were just returning from a mission. The 'jet's about two minutes from giving the 'critically low fuel' warning -- the normal low warning already went off -- but May seems to not care.

As soon as the Iron Man armor pings on her bird's radar she drops the quinjet to land on the helipad gently and near-silently. "Clear, Barton," she says before the 'jet has even fully settled.

Moon Knight has posed:
What was Marc doing here? He'd woken up in a grimy hole in the wall, and in this case it might have been more literal than metaphorical. Gotham? What was he doing here, in the shadow of the Bat that he read about as often as he could? One phone call to Frenchie later, and it all came flooding back, memory of the plan, the attempt to gain more information about the break-ins that had been happening in New York.

When he saw a red and yellow missile streaking across his cheap apartment window, Spector watched transfixed, before opening the false panel in his suitcase. The moon was still sleeping, but its champion had work to do even still.

So it was that when Iron Man asked his question, a figure dropped from the sky, cape spread in such a way that it blocked out the sun, like an eclipse that was rapidly descending. The figure hit the ground into a roll and came up to his feet, clad in white and silver, a hood worn over a white mask that hid every possible detail about the figure's face. The When the figure spoke, there was an...element about him, even as he seemed to sway on his feet, almost like his balance wasn't a certainty.

"Wow, a celebrity here in nowhere Gotham, an' I don't even have my autograph book. Aw gee goddamn fiddlesticks."

Iceman has posed:
"Hey no one said we could catch a ride in a super secret hover carrier!" comes the voice over the comms. He'd been headed back towards the Manor when Rogue sent him the S.O.S, so Bobby wasn't too far away either. The ice slide that forms off the left wing of the carrier bears Bobby Drake, not yet in full ice armor but looking down towards the hospital. "What's the situation? Let's hear how good that scanning equipment is."

With that, Bobby aims his hands down towards his feet, a rush of frigid air and snow forming around his body as his hands move upwards. When he's done, his body and clothes have literally turned to ice.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint could hear the pinging from the cockpit. "So does triple A cover these things?" he asks from the back ramp as he slaps the door open button and the ramp drops down.

He jumps out before it's fully down then, scans the surroundings, < Hey T, how do we always end up invited to the fun parties? > he jokes still scoping out the scene. < How do we want to play this, and do we've got that antitdote handy? I don't want to be suddenly in school naked on test day or whatever that stuff does to you. >

Harley Quinn has posed:
The back door of one of the ambulances opens slightly, and the figure of a nurse is standing inside. White dress a little too short, and a little too tight. Her starched white cap is set atop perfectly coiffed blonde hair, as a too-pale white face peers out, beset delicately with a black domino mask. She peers up where the jet is landing, black-lipped mouth agape.

From beneath the ambulance in the shadows, a gravelly voice emanates. "I don't like the looks o' this, Mistress. Ya best lay low till all them fliers get planted. Or y'know...plant 'em yerself." The voice giggles as the door close again, and the ambulance goes dark inside.

Iron Man has posed:
"I'm just as surprised to be in Gotham as anyone; are you here to pitch in, or hinder? Pitching in earns special gold stars. From Captain America, not me, but they're still okay," Tony's easygoing tone is highly recognizable as he answers the Moon Knight, as if heroes fell out of the sky around him all day long. Maybe they do. The Iron Man mask is shut, but the amusement still floats easy on Stark's voice. It will be apparent he's also reorganizing some physical gear he brought, a heavy duffel sized bag. A little flying drone comes loose from it, the size of about a volleyball, hovering nearby.

Otherwise, Tony's on the comm radio. "Good, phew, I wouldn't want to be out of character. Comfortably late it is, thanks May. -- Hey, who is that on comm? X-Men signal? Great to have you. Just so you know, there's been a lot of naughty fear gas. We've had it thrown at us by these creeps, and they've been bombing their hostages with it to make them go berserk. Upside, I have piles of antidote sized party favors to hand out. Any takers, who don't feel like being driven crazy tonight may want to meet up; I'm the sparkly thing to the east. It's not a /fun/ crazy, from what I've heard."

"Scans? So demanding. I'm sending you the layouts I've got. We have a bulk of forces in the ground floor, I'm guessing that's our militants. A lot of signatures of people in those ambulances. And of course, people spread out all over the hospital; thinking there might be /patients/ in this hospital. I'd like to pull the fight, if there is one, out of there as much as we can, while we send in a small unit from the roof to get to Penny. Based on what tests we got back on her... yeah, they'll want her."

Iceman has posed:
Bobby's comment comes on the heels of Clint's last quip, "Hey, I didn't know it was going to be that kinda party. I didn't bring anything not to wear!" With a wink that no one who isn't flying outside the quintet can see, he listens to Tony's instructions. "Herding bad guys, now that's something I know about. I'll see what I can do about the ground floor...and I'll take a party favor antidote."

With that, Bobby freezes the air in front of him and begins to glide towards the big glowing Iron Man silhouette. As he passes, he wraps one of the antidotes in a small ice globe and merges it into the side of his neck, "It's like having the cheeks of a squirrel," he says to Tony as the ice slide carries him downwards towards the lower levels of the hospital where a group of militants are moving in through one of the side doors.

As the lead armed man reaches for the side door, Bobby extends his arm and the moisture in the air near the door freezes over the door, a thick barrier of ice blocking their way, "Sorry, closed for the season," he says as his ice slide carries him just overhead.

Melinda May has posed:
May shuts the quinjet's engines down to quick-start mode, then follows Clint out of the back of the bird. "I'll get the girl," May replies to Tony over the comms. "Keep any friendlies I won't recognize out of my way." Without bothering to wait and see if anyone has any objections to her calling the rescue part of this mess, she heads for the nearest roof access that isn't the main elevators used by personnel being unloaded from a helicopter. It looks like it might be an HVAC access hatch or similar.

And no, she's not wasting time by detouring to collect an antidote 'party favor'.

Moon Knight has posed:
A natural detective, or someone with a keen eye might have noticed something off the the ambulances immediately. The man in silver and white was a little distracted, however, with Tony Stark, and the landing of the quinjet a ways away. With that cape draped across his shoulders, hiding most details but open enough to reveal the silver crescent moon across his chest, the hooded man stalked back and forth like a caged tiger. It seemed he was taking stock of everything around him.

"If you're asking if I'm gonna grab a hostage and say 'reach fer the sky', don't worry. The Moon Knight is here to beat the scumbags, not join 'em. And if yer friends over there in their tight blue suits and their little white jackboots are here, then it's probably a good thing I arrived to help when I did. And if-..."

His voice trailed off as he watched a man made of ice slide past. Instantly he shook his head, touching his forehead momentarily. It was still daylight and he was having hallucinations? That was never a good sign.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint peels off towards the rendezvous spot. "Count me in for not going crazy," he says. If Fury was ever going to stop having 'just one more job' for him to do in New York, he had a vacation to get back to! Priorties, right?

He chucks his head upwards at Bobby as he squirrels the antidote, "Neat trick. And aren't you already naked? Hard to tell when it's all ice. On second thought. Don't tell me."

Clint grabs an antidote and jabs the injector into his arm with a pneumatic hiss. "Moon Knight, huh? Guess we're really going with the naked theme today. Well if you're on the side of the angels, welcome to the fight. T, I'm going to back up May unless you need me down here."

He yanks an arrow from his quiver, the head springing open to form a grapple, he doesn't let it fly yet, waiting for the boss man to give the word.

Iron Man has posed:
"Great, you're in. If someone is going crazy, hit them with some antidote -- take a few," Tony replies, snaring (and tossing) a few antidotes from the bag. This is both to Clint and to Moon Knight. "And a comm." The comm is just for Moon Knight, though. Clint has one. "Although I'm probably not going to repeat all of the stuff that I just said." A pause.

"JARVIS," Ton requests internally, between just him and the AI, "Repeat all the instructions to the new guy. And keep an eye; tranq him from the communicator if he's not what he seems." JARVIS indeed will go over all of the general information about the building and the targets to Moon Knight.

"Works for me. Clint and May on the roof, X-Men -- well, Man? Singular?-- to pull attention from the front. New guy, with me. I'm going to check over those Ambulances, and sort out what's in them. Check the ones close to the hospital, I'll take the far end."

Iceman's attack in the front is the first real issue, and the military group fall back swiftly, with a well oiled natural movement, opening fire on the hero. They were warned, that much is clear, but they did not expect walls of ice. A group of five rush out the side door and work to try to flank Iceman.

The roof is empty of people, no helicopters either. The door won't take much work for May to get through, and she'll find herself in a strangely deserted upper floor. Except for a long streak of smeared blood down the wall. Seems deserted.

Moon Knight has posed:
The hooded vigilante looked at the "antitodes" a bit oddly, but put them in a compartment in his utility belt wordlessly. The com, he studied it for a moment before putting it over his ear...his ear that was under his white mask. It didn't look the best, but beneath the hood it was hard to notice. With that done he stalked just a step behind the man in armor, and as he walked(slightly hunched over as his head swung from step to step), he reached behind his cape to grab at something in particular. Giving him time to speak as he walked.

"I was in New York the other day. Someone stole from one of your tech places. Happened right under my nose. I dunno what they took. But if I see any of your old crap on the streets in the hands of gang bangers, I'm gonna break every bone in their body."

By this time he got what he was looking for, and pulled out two silverish metal sticks, connected by a thick chain. Yes, those were nunchucks. He was going to beat someone with nunchucks, or attempt to anyway.

Harley Quinn has posed:
"Incomin'," comes the gravelly voice from the shadows. Keen green eyes glow in the shadows under the ambulance, sliding from front to back to get a better look. "You got company, want I should waste 'em?"

The nurse again peers out the back window of the ambulance, watching for anyone approaching. "You couldn't waste anybody from down there. Wait till ya see the whites of their eyes, yeah?" A grumble from beneath the ambulance, and the voice goes silent.

This ambulance is otherwise empty, so the nurse slips out quietly and hides herself in the diver's seat of the one next door. And then...she waits.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
The extra ampules are stuffed in a uniform pouch, then without further ado he shoots the arrow roofwards, links it to the rig on his bow and is yanked upwards, vaulting the lip of the roof to land in a crouch. The line from the arrow is cut and he draws a Taser arrow to put to the string next, getting on comms to ask, "May, on the roof, moving to the door."

And Clint does exactly that.

Iceman has posed:
The armed men are joined by a small squad from the other side of the building and all of them take aim at the gliding Iceman. Bullets from multiple weapons start flying at Bobby from several directions and it would appear he's outmatched...until the bullets start ricocheting off of his ice form harmlessly, "I guess they don't have an Iceman in Gotham," he quips into the comms. "And for the record, I still have clothes, they're just frozen...at the molecular level...sorry to disappoint." Turning his attention back to the guards, Bobby swings his arms wide and as if forming from the ground up is a huge dome of ice rising to encompass the armed shooters, "Time to enter Ice-dome! Hmm that needs some work." Feeling pretty confident, Bobby sends shards of ice towards two of the military men's guns, freezing the barrels and causing a look of concern from them as he does.

Luckily, the half dome, well not technically a dome since the top is open, so more like an ice Parthenon...well either way it keeps the bullets from ricocheting into innocents. Bobby turns and causes an ice slick under another pair of goons and is about to make another comment when one of the larger men pulls forth an RPG and aims it at the gliding man of ice....and fires! The rocket slams into Iceman, who is hurled off his ice slide and into the side of his own ice wall. Before he falls to the ground, his hand snaps out and creates a floating pedestal of ice. "Hey, now I felt that!"

Melinda May has posed:
Making her way into the building proper, May pulls a pair of taser-ended batons (typically Mockingbird's preferred weapons) from inside her jacket and looks around cautiously while waiting for Clint to catch up. She mentally reviews the building's floorplan and decides that the stairwells are likely not the best option even if they'd be the quickest. That leaves the wet walls (ugh) or the elevator shafts (risky).

"Barton, we need to get to five and I'm not trusting the stairs." She waits to see what he suggests, knowing that the archer typically does more covert infiltration like this than she does anymore.

Iron Man has posed:
To Moon Knight: "If it's 'crap', it was /never/ mine," Tony responds, cheeky. "But I have trackers on most of what /was/ mine. AFTER we're not in emminent danger, if you know the location it was taken from, that'd be a great start," Tony says, distracted. His attention is more on the mission than some stolen 'ancient' gear at the moment.

Iron Man has posed:
Iron Man leaves the antidotes with the small robot drone. "If anybody needs an antidote for some reason, they're where we met up. /I'm/ not a delivery boy - but the robot I brought can be. If you ask nicely." The Avenger is then launching off towards the Ambulances, scowling at his strange readings. Something is wrong over there, which interests him. A very large signature of something. Tony gets the first look at it, and his voice is strained on the comm. "Really? Oh. Good. Yes. Another really great reason to finish the Hulk Buster armor, that's what I needed today," Tony complains tiredly.
A very large mutant creature, possibly female but very muscular and dark furred, with enormous long tusklike teeth, charges out from an ambulance; it then turns and throws that ambulance directly at Tony. Tony's forced to deal with that, as it is also leaping at him. There's flashes of the repulsors as Tony's tied up with the creature, dodging and trying not to be smashed, returning fire with his own weaponry. "Are we sure we didn't bring the Hulk? I kind of feel like we did right now," Tony complains into the comm. "Iceman, watch your back, fluffy Hulk and I are coming across behind you." Tony's leading the monster away, but is getting close to the ice zone.

Iceman's military friends are clearly on communications, and are starting to get smarter, they are poking him from certain areas, as if trying to coax him to put up ice blockages where they want them. Someone is leading those groups, and well.

Moon Knight's ambulances appear pretty empty compared to the creature Tony's forced to contend with. A smaller mutant, green skinned but covered in long, poisonous looking spines, gets shoved out of the ambulance at that end, near Harley. With a fearful scream, the mutant looks around rapidly in terror, skittering side to side, and then leaps back into the ambulance. There's a scream of a different type, as it turned on the lab technican that just pushed it out. Well, that probably was not the plan. It hasn't seen Moon Knight... yet.

From the wet walls, there is a sobbing cry of terror from some nearby room, and then silence, in front of May. The zone of the floor she's on is labeled as Oncology. The elevators to the left appear to be stuck or stopped on floor 5, by what the panels show.

Moon Knight has posed:
"Yeaah..."

When the green-skinned, spined creature leapt out than in, Moon Knight knew enough about tactics to know that leaping in to that small, cramped locale with who knows how many hostiles was going to end in disaster. So as Iron Man was having a good old fashioned superpowered tussle with Miss Piggy, the man in silver and white took a different tact. Dashing forward with that impressive speed of his, he switched the nunchucks to the left hand as his right went down into a pouch on his belt. Grabbing a fistful of small, silver crescent shuriken he just threw all of them into the small cramped ambulance to let them ricochet and bounce off the walls, and letting the extremely sharp, painful things embed themselves into anything fleshy.

"C'mon out and let's play tag, kiddies. Unless you really want me to go in there and drag you out into the daylight."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint takes in the blood smeared wall with a frown. "I've seen enough horror movies to know that's a bad sign," he says, to say nothing of regular ops where he'd see that sort of thing, but it was easier to pretend this was something that happened to other people.

He gives the batons a nod, smiling, "Bobbi know you've been raiding her locker?" he asks, before getting down to business. "Elevator shaft, I've got another grapple arrow, it'll give us enough cord to get down to the car stopped on five."

The scream brings that plan up short, and Clint draws his arrow and begins moving towards the room, "I'll cover, you go in?" he asks May quietly.

Iceman has posed:
When Bobby realizes that his ice barricades are being directed not by him but someone else, he glides up towards the top of the dome just in time to see the huge furred creature coming his way with Ironman acting as a laser pointer for it. "Damn, Ironman and I didn't get you anything."

Diverting his attention from the goons below, Iceman causes a sheet of ice to appear on the ground in front of the creature, hopefully slowing it enough for him to deal with the armed men before he's face to fur with it. "Careful there, I think that's Anne...she's as much a victim as anyone." With not much time to explain further, he looks down into the dome and concentrates. Soon, the air temperature drops and a wind picks up inside the dome. The men and women inside are blown about as their clothes and equipment become thick with frost. It's not enough to cause permanent harm, but is enough to block any sight and make moving harder.

Harley Quinn has posed:
There are screams emanating from inside the ambulance where the green spined creature disappeared. Likely the shuriken have struck a few marks here and there, and the enraged creature comes again tearing out of the ambulance, leaving the doors wide open as he looks for the source of the bladed objects now embedded in his flesh. Inside are three bound mutants, now bleeding from wounds where silver objects are buried in their skin. The lab assistant lies in an abundant pool of blood on the floor. The three bound mutants are changing...fear? Pain? Possibly. But Spiney is looking for Moon Knight, and stops to roar in pain and anger. With two solid pounds on his blood-soaked chest, he screams, "MINE!" and points at his new silver-clad opponent.

A whimper comes from beneath the ambulance that Nurse Harley has just vacated. "Mistress, I don't like what you got in mind..."

Swiftly, she opens the door wide, creating a shadow to bridge to the one she just left. Green eyes move swiftly along the shadow and stop beneath her new hiding place. On the other side of the now completely vacant ambulance, Moon Knight is up against a green-spined...something.

"Showtime..." she giggles, as she pulls out a large revolver and shoots the gas tank of the empty ambulance, slamming the door and taking cover long enough to escape out the other side as the empty one explodes next to Moon Knight and the green thing.

"BOOM!" comes the gravelly voice beneath the ambulance, as it follows in Harley's shadow from one Ambulance to the next.

Melinda May has posed:
May's eyes flick toward Clint at his horror movie quip but she doesn't bother replying otherwise. "No, I know Bobbi borrowed them from /me/." No telling which is actually the case, though, and May is as much for using any random object at hand as a weapon as anything.

She nods to Barton's choice of the elevator shaft, but also stops at the scream. "I'll go low." And that's what she does, ducking down and into the room the scream seemed to originate from. She's more than ready to see exactly how much force it takes to bend one of these batons against a human skull.

Moon Knight has posed:
If he was intimidated by the spined creature, Moon Knight didn't show it. "Yeah I'm all yours, princess. It's time to make you a woman!"

He charged in, swinging those nunchucks more like a heavy cudgel or flail. Swinging them overhead, he brought them down in a violent vicious blow to the Mutant's torso and arms with strength that one might use to smash a car window. He was zigzagging, dodging and weaving to attempt to avoid those vicious looking spines, but moments later he felt the heat of explosion, and his body was reacting before his mind had time to fully comprehend what was going on. Running a few feet he dove and made himself flat against the ground, even as behind him an entire ambulance went up in a...fireball? Actually he wasn't too sure what happened to it, but as long as it didn't launch shrapnel into his throat, groin or brain at ninety miles an hour, he couldn't complain too much.

Iron Man has posed:
Clint and May find three people cowered in a corner, one of them bleeding. Two look like cancer patients, a doctor. There is also, lastly, a nursing staff member, a male in scrubs, trying to calm the three and get them to stop screaming. "Please, it's me, Ronald," he says to one of them, another doctor, that is clearly insane with fear. Ronald doesn't notice Clint or May, but one of the people he's trying to calm does, screaming bloody horror at the first sight of them. There doesn't appear to be any enemies there at first look.

Iron Man continues his battle with the large furred hulking creature. He's luring it onto a slippery patch, and accidentally gets backhanded, flipping over in a spiral. And still able to snark. "Then you owe me a stellar gift basket later, and I-- what? It's /Anne/? .... okay. Follow up question. Who is Anne?" Tony asks in the comm. Names? He has a hard time remembering every woman he's 'met', so this is a large ask.

Iceman is busy, though, with the military still trying to send rockets into his teeth, so Tony won't get an answer right away from the X-man.

War Machine has posed:
There's no sound to herald its arrival, but a suit of pitch black and chrome Iron-Man armor arrives on the scene as the ambulance explodes into the air. It swoops in catching the already blown to smithereens vehicle before it can land on the one next to it. Hovering in place with both hands up in the air clenched onto the ambulance the red eyes of the suit lock on the Nurse and her friend, a Predator style aiming reticle slowly encircling down before forming a single dot on the forehead of the figure running between ambulances.

Out from a shoulder pops an oversized Gatling canon, weapons rising up from both shoulders and the back as he gets ready. "Down on the ground, hands behind your head"Spoken in a calm modulated voice as he sets the burnt out husk of an ambulance down. "First warning, last warning." Already working out which one to take on first.

Harley Quinn has posed:
There is pale green transparent liquid now dripping, slowly, from the spines of the green creature that Moon Knight is pummeling to a pulp. But he doesn't go down easily. He seems, in fact, extremely resilient to the blunt force, and he keeps coming back for more, roaring with a primal scream that sounds like some combination of anger and terror. "FIRE!" he screams, jumping to one side, and looking between Moon Knight and the burning ambulance, uncertain if the explosion was caused by this silver-clad menace.

The black-masked and very pale nurse peers out from between two ambulances, her shadow concealing those glowing green eyes just beneath an ambulance. With the cover now cast by the smoke from the burning ambulance, the creature emerges with a toothy grin. Three feet tall, with vibrant green eyes and a vicious-looking maw. He looks to Harley for direction. "Get in there and free all the ones you can. Bring 'em here..."

The Darkling hops into an ambulance, and within seconds, five mutants are chasing him out. He hides behind Harley, who manages hold them off with a baseball bat as another group of five appear from the next ambulance, hot on the heels of the Darkling. The mutants - different sizes, shapes, and abilities, begin infighting amongst themselves with screams of horror. When the modulated voice announces Harley's demise, she holds up a finger to those black painted lips, winks at the War Machine, and ducks into the fray as she takes aim from between two of the flailing and fighting bodies, firing two rounds from her Chiappa Rhino revolver toward her newest best friend in silver and black.

Melinda May has posed:
May's eyes flick across each person in the room, and she promptly sidesteps out of the doorway and straightens to as non-threatening a stance as she's capable of. "Clear, Barton," she says for Clint's benefit. "But I think they could use some of that antidote if you have extra." She stays by the doorway in case any other threats approach, and also because Clint both has the fear-gas antidote and he's less off-putting in tense situations.

Then her attention is pulled to the comm chatter and she touhes one hand to her ear before saying quietly, "Stark, Anne Hayes. One of the first mutants to go missing. Take her down without injuring her if possible."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"Suuure," Clint says about the batons. Though true enough, May's story might be plausible. He gives a nod about her going low, Clint takes high and they sweep into the room. "Hey Ron," Clint says to the nurse. "Everything okay in here?" he lets his string go slowly slack and heads into the room. He reaches into his pouch and produces a couple of the ampules and sticks Ron in the shoulder to start, then hands him two more to apply to the others. "Want to do the honours?" he asks.

War Machine has posed:
He pauses for a moment floating in place before Harley manages to duck out of the way. "Never the easy way with you people is it?" Instead he turns his attention to one of the ambulances and fires off a rocket at it. "Swear, why do I even try sometimes?" The rocket goes full force smashing into the side of the ambulance but instead of detonating on impact it merely punctures the side of the ambulance and begins pouring out a gas mixture. The contents of the missile quickly deplete into the ambulance before he starts trying to go down the row and fire off gas missiles into each of the ambulances

Moon Knight has posed:
On his back, the Moon Knight quickly looked down and checked himself, to make sure nothing was severed or ruined. Nodding and satisfied that he was relatively ok, he rolled backwards and sprung up to his feet, grabbing his nunchucks on the way and very quickly modifying and snapping the weapon, changing it into a bo-staff. Giving it a few twirls, he seemed to nod satisfied, before reaching into a pouch to bring out one of the antitode syringes. Staff in right hand, cure in left, he started approaching Mr. Porcupine slowly.

"Sorry if this ends up giving you autism, pal, but I don't feel like getting caught on a prickly pear today. C'mere and take your meds!"

Iron Man has posed:
"Um, no-- there's been some announcements -- are we all going to die?" Ron asks, reasonably relaxed considering his question, accepting the antidotes, and still trying to soothe the scared people. "He said he was the Scarecrow," Ron says, with clear terror. That must MEAN something to Gothamites. Ron will handle the room, though, and also offer to help. "Anything else I can do? Treating more people?" Ron asks, bravely.
"I'm mostly trying to not be injured personally, but I'll keep it in mind," Tony replies to Agent May's assessment about it. "My syringes aren't puncturing, and my gas one, ha ha, she ate it," Tony comments. But at least things aren't getting worse for Iron Man presently: he is tying up a big nasty mutant.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint puts a hand on Ron's shoulder. "We're not going to die, the Avengers, SHIELD and some others, are here we're going to deal with this Scarecrow guy and get you guys out of here," he begins though when Ron offers to help, Clint flashes him a quick, but pleased smile, "You're a good man, Ron," he produces the rest of his antidotes. "Take these, I want you to get these two dosed, then, get them to the roof, dose everyone else you can, recruit the ones who are able to help to get more people from this floor to the roof. We'll go down and deal with this Scarecrow, know where he is, we got a call from the 5th floor, that's where we're headed without any more intel."

A look is thrown May's way and he asks, "You ever hear of this Scarecrow guy from the folks around here?" he asks.

Harley Quinn has posed:
Harley watches as the War Machine systematically begins to gas the ambulances, quelling the screams inside and causing mutants to peer out the windows, at her and her Darkling, and at the war going on outside the ambulances. The tide's turning. As the infighting of the mutants in the parking lot begins to rage out of control, a couple are hulking out. One takes flight on what appears to be pink dragon's wings, hovering over the others and hurling blazing fireballs at the helpless ones on the ground, just fighting to stay alive.

"Oh for the love of..." She raises her massive revolver and fires once at the flying mutant. It goes down in a screeching cry into the fray and lies on the ground. "IF YOU DON'T PLAY FAIR, YOU DON'T PLAY AT ALL!"

Spiney is enraged, raising massive arms and approaching Moon Knight, spines raised and dripping with toxin. He's either fearless, or consumed by fear, but he's not backing down. He takes a swipe at the bo to snap it in two and lunges at Moon Knight in a fury of spines and teeth.

Nurse Harley runs ahead, opening the back doors of ambulances and freeing those inside to join the chaos outside before War Machine can get the rest of them. Then, one by one, she begins moving between the empty ambulances, firing at the gas tanks and blowing them up, one after the next.

Melinda May has posed:
At the mention of the Scarecrow, May's expression goes just the tiniest bit more emotionless than it already was. She knows exactly who that is. "I have. When we find Penny, you get her out. Don't come back in for me." She tucks the batons away and pulls two other weapons out of her jacket, the blades freshly oiled and gleaming.

"The staircase to the roof is clear," she tells Ron. "Go now." Then she's out of the room and headed to the nearest stairwell. There's no time left for being subtle. They need to get to Penny and get her out. Now.

Keep up, Barton, May's not going to slow down again.

War Machine has posed:
"You know it's funny I was about to say the same thing" Rhodes comments firing off one last gas canister before flying up higher. "See last I checked chemical warfare was banned by the Geneva convention, and pretty sure that makes it a little less then fair." Taking a moment to switch around munition to something a bit more fun. "Then again I think your Hippocratic oath might have been a bit more of a hypocritical oath, just from what I've seen so far."

Rhodes levels a single arm in Harley's direction launching off a stun round from the gun mounted to the back of his wrist. In all the chaos dust and smoke his computers can't exactly get a firm lock on her so he's just got to hope old fashioned aiming will do the trick.

Iron Man has posed:
"Are you sure you don't need any?" Ron asks, reluctant to take ALL of the medication, but he also won't argue too much. He will try to get Clint to keep one or two, though, but will take what he's handed. Indeed, May's sudden angry posture? Ron sure doesn't want to mess with that! He'll do as he's told, and will follow Clint's orders exactly. Ron IS a good man. There's a few around.

Iceman has barricaded in the whole of the first floor, which has pushed the militants upwards somewhat, but they're not going up too high. In fact, they flush out the other side of the first floor. Tony's busy, but the information is interesting.
"Hey, we have men running out the far end instead of coming up to join you, May, Hawkeye. Be careful, I have a bad feeling," Tony says. He's working to try to shoot the big mutant he's fighting in the face or mouth with a syringe, and got a little grabbed and squeezed. His armor shrieks in complaint as he's squeezed, but the risk needed to be taken to get close enough.
The floor below May and Clint's is an absolute tomb. Nothing making sound, the whole of the floor. Which, for a Maternity area, is really pretty terrifying, though maybe that's just the soundproofing. They aren't after that floor, though. The closer they get to the 5th, the more things get weird. Various screams, people clawing the walls, others huddled in corners. A security guard will open fire on them. Similar events. It's as if the center of fear was clustered around the 5th floor.

Moon Knight has posed:
Well, there was good news, and there was bad news: The good news, was that the staff Moon Knight used was made of tougher, sterner stuff than most, and even a swipe from this oversized beast didn't break it like it intended. The bad news, was the force of the impact meant that the weapon went flying from Moon Knight's hand, skittering across the battlefield to land...somewhere. The hooded man wasn't paying attention because he was caught up in the rampage of a thing that was starting to look like an oversized, gamma-charged cactus. Moon Knight leapt backwards but it wasn't enough, his legs and chest got impaled with quill after quill even as he snarled out in pain and agony...but his left hand stabbed downward, that syringe aimed right for the eye of the creature swooping him up. That would have to be enough for the vigilante to kick off of the hulking form(and stabbing his own foot in the process), ripping himself free from the beast even as he rolled backward. His teeth grit, pain was coursing through his body, his muscles wanting to seize up violently. Even still, he was working his way to his feet, shaking his head to try and clear the cobwebs.

Melinda May has posed:
May mentally notes the people on the floors after the tomb-like maternity ward, hoping to get someone to dose the entire building with the antidote all at once. Just easier that way.

The security guard firing at them gets May to duck out of firing range just long enough to pull a pair of shocker disks out of her jacket -- now these she very clearly filched from Romanoff -- and fling them at the guard. Then she's moving again, stepping past the downed guard and pausing only long enough to scoop up his sidearm. She empties and disassembles it as they continue on, dropping pieces of the weapon into waste baskets and laundry bins and Sharps containers along the way.

A certain Bat would be so proud.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Ron has a point. Clint keeps two of the antidote ampules for himself, slipping them into a pouch. "You're doing good work, Ron, get these people out of here," he says before taking off after May. Given how she's stepped up to blades, that tells him all he needs to know about this Scarecrow, bad news.

He follows down the stairs, the silent maternity ward spooks the crap out of him, so by comparison the shouts and screams of the ward below is almost a relief, almost. "May, slow down we need to be careful," yeah, Clint Barton just said they need to be careful, mark down the date. As they reach the floor, he ducks, and when he comes up, the guard is down and May is moving. Clint follows, slower, watching her back, eyes flicking from scream to scream. As much as he wants to help, splitting up entirely would be a bad, bad idea.

Harley Quinn has posed:
There's a startled "JEEZUS!" from somewhere in the smoke, and Harley goes down. Crawling through the smoke, and half-dragged behind a hedge by an overly-protective Darkling, Harley collapses for a moment. The Darkling goes to work trying to wrap her in bubble wrap while she's down, but Harley resists. Sitting up, and peering through the bushes at the fray going on around the burnt-out ambulances, she tries to regain her wits. There's a sizeable bluish knot coming up on one cheek that even her white paint can't hide, and her left arm is all but useless and hangs numb and throbbing at her side. She shakes her head. "Screw the Scarecrow. I don't care what kinda threats--This just ain't worth it, Humperdink. Go get the Bo, make sure Big Silver can't murderize anybody. DO NOT EAT IT."

The Darkling is already trotting excitedly toward the abandoned weapon near Moon Knight by the time the last command is shouted. "Awww." He kicks a rock, but continues a fast clip toward the Bo, taking it up and running with it through the smoke and chaos.

For Harley's part, she watches one mutant laying hands on an injured and raging friend, instantly calming him.

"Great Idea, Hypno, I'll bring 'em over, and you do that voodoo that you do so well..."

With the help of the mutants that War Machine gave the antidote, Harley begins wrestling the remaining mutants over - the most obviously dangerous ones first, so that Hypno can calm them.

"Good Job, Hypno! Here's another one!" The girl, who looks to be about fourteen years old, lays hands on a raging red mutant, instantly soothing the savage. "I'm Carina, Ma'am. Not Hypno..."

Spiney goes down, rolling in pain as a few of his spines are snapped off. The syringe found its mark next to his eye, and his screams gradually become those of pain and sorrow, instead of fear.

Yeah...the tide was turning.

War Machine has posed:
War Machine hovers in place for a moment. There's a pause in his motions as he reaches his hand out in front of himself crooked slightly to one side. He motions his other hand typing on a keyboard only he can see with his hand. A small port opens up on the back of each hand. He flexes his gauntlets once, then twice readying for the moment. "Say Tony, how mad would you be if I jump carpet bombed this place with antidote?" Mulling it over as he gets ready for what's next. "Got a tank of the stuff loaded up and ready."

On the edge of the chaos a lone figure walks dressed in a simple black suit and bowtie. His head is almost completely bald except for the grey sides of his head, and a pencil thin mustache. Where most people would run terrified for their lives he simply pushes back the sleeve of his overly expensive jacket a deadpan expression on his face before he looks back up towards the fighting. "My, is it Friday already?" He shakes his head, before starting to walk back on. "How the time flies." Calmly the British man makes his way right through the chaos as if nothing is happening just clearing his way through the chaos and carnage with little more then a quick. "Excuse me, pardon the intrusion." Or "Only be a moment, just passing through." Before he's already cleared the chaos and carnage.

Moon Knight has posed:
With a pained cry, Moon Knight had a grip on the spine directly in the center of his left boot sole. He was steadily pulling it out of his flesh, blood dripping the last few as it was pulled out almost violently at the last, and now the champion of Knushu could put pressure on that foot again. Good thing, too, as he noticed a shape blurring past...and grabbing his weapon. With a now pronounced limp the man in the hooded silver cape began jogging through the smoke and chaos, his eyelets allowing him a bit of vision in this situation, but it was still difficult, and he was still only vaguely aware of where he was going.

Still, the second he saw the glint of what could even be his staff, he reached into his belt and threw something bent and twirling through the air with heavy 'whooshes', a big, oversized, heavy-weighted silver boomerang was being chucked outward, with luck it might hit its dark target and allow the vigilante(who was still covered in quills and spines, by the by) to gain some ground. All the while pain was causing every third step to be weak, causing his eyes to water. In his madness he saw and ignored another hallucination, a British man in a bowtie wandering through as if he hadn't a care in the world. Not now, not now, he couldn't be distracted right now!

Iron Man has posed:
Someone in a military jacket turns about to see May bearing down on him, and starts to speak on his radio: "Mutants in the corrid--" before he's dealt with harshly, no doubt. But that does trigger something else: the PA system, as Ron had mentioned before, comes on again. Somebody needs to ~monologue~.

"Welcome, Avengers and mutants, to fear in it's most PURE form: your feeble attempts to make antidotes are /nothing/ now: it will permanently fuse. Savor your last moments of sanity, then give in and embrace true fear." The voice is thick with arrogant pleasure. And familiar, to those that have heard the Scarecrow before. The uproar it causes, to hear a creepy disembodied voice, throws those still stuck inside fear into a frenzy. Everyone is running in various directions now, many of them going for stairwells or trying to crawl under things: it is as varied as fears often are.

It won't be long before Clint and May find the room that's guarded: it is down the hall from psychiatric. The laboratory area.

In he rear of the long room the elevator also leads to, there... is The Scarecrow.

He is in his famous, extremely eerie costume, and is doing something with the elevators: there are large metal, technological objects in each of the open elevators. He is in the entrance to laboratory: long rows of counters and chairs where blood can be drawn and taken to the back lab is here, as well as a giant waiting room. On the tv screens, there's Oprah playing: looks like her audience is very happy about getting some new purses or something. It's a strange contrast to the seriousness of the room and the scattering of armed thugs, and two lab assistants that seem like they might be hostages.

Tony answers Rhodey, "Yeah, it was that it doesn't last long, so don't waste it unless they're infected or about to get infected." He finally stuck her up the nose, but the struggle to extract himself without harming the giant, extremely strong mutant, is real.

Harley Quinn has posed:
"Ayieee!" The Darkling is knocked ass-over-teakettle, rolling up and dropping the staff as the boomerang knocks him flying. He looks quickly between the boomerang and the staff, seeing that the staff is closer to Moon Knight than it is himself. So instead, he snags the metal boomerang and keeps running back in the direction where Harley had been. Now, however, he finds only those mutants trying to calm the others. "Well she didn't say I couldn't eat--"

"DO NOT EAT THE BOOMERANG!" Comes the ominous command of Gotham's Princess of Crime from a speaker atop an ice cream truck across the street.

"Awww..."

Inside the van, Harley is watching War Machine, but she's also hearing the PA from the hospital across the street. "Oh hell..."

Spiney sits up, rubbing his eyes. His form has shrunk somewhat, and his spines are retracting. The ones he has left.

As the Darkling approaches the van, Harley comes out. Bloodied and torn, her nurse's dress has seen better days. Over her shoulder is slung a baseball bat, and on her back, a mallet. She has quite the shiner on the left side, a broken cheekbone at the very least, and her left arm is still throbbing. "Let's go whack a Scarecrow, wanna?"

Moon Knight has posed:
He got to the staff, almost dropping to his knees before catching himself and...falling to his knees anyway. In a haze of pain he grabbed the weapon, quickly twisting it back into nunchucks and putting it away...to the best of his ability. Looking around, taking stock, he only saw chaos and explosions, and for a second he was out in the desert and there was shouting and bleeding and Marc had to get out of here. Picking his moment he had enough wherewithal to pick a high vantage point, and zip away with that grapnel gun of his. In his pain he didn't know where he was going, he just knew that he had to get somwhere private and let this liquid fire burn its way through his body.

But he'd be back in due time, to reclaim what was HIS.

War Machine has posed:
The ports on the back of his hands slap back shut with an audible click. Inside the suit he speaks quietly to himself. "That's right, knew there was a reason we didn't just carpet bomb the area and call it a day." He starts to fly over towards moon knight with a burst of speed. "Come on man, back to earth, you got a friend right here next to you." As he drops down to the ground trying to give Moon-knight a hand up. "Got your back m-" There's a pause as he looks down to the spot where moon knight had been. He nods his head quietly. "Oh no, no problem man, I'm just glad you're alright."

His body turns on the spot turning on the balls of his heels to face the triumphant darkling. "No, no, it's fine, I don't need any thanks, just doing my job." There's a moments pause as he taps something out in the air on his suits own arm. "I'm sure you'd do the same for me." All the guns shift their aim, and spin up. "What are team-mates for if we don't have eachother's backs?" A loud voice calls out from Rhodes towards the Darkling. "FOOOOOOOOOUR" before a barrage of missiles bullets and more come flying from all the suits weapons directed right at the little bugger.

Melinda May has posed:
May was in no way excessively harsh with the military jacket wearing person. He got exactly as much taser to the cranium as she felt he deserved. And then they get within sight of the laboratory area, and the equipment in the elevators.

"Disable those objects in the elevators," she tells Clint quietly. "Crane is mine." There is simply no way to get to Crane past all of those thugs without being noticed, so she doesn't bother trying. She gives Barton a few seconds to prepare whatever he's going to do, and then she charges out into the room and straight at the closest of the thugs.

While Romanoff can take people down faster more gracefully, May puts people on the floor with a vicious efficiency. They won't be getting up again any time soon, at least not under their own power. She's got two thugs out of the fight almost immediately, but now they're ganging up on her.

Really, how well can one short, middle-aged Asian woman stand up to armed thugs?

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"That /has/ to be Scarecrow," Clint says seeing the guy in the costume. "Gotham," he sighs. "Everyone's got a damn gimmick."

Then it's down to business, as May takes down the guards, Clint moves to the elevators. Needing a free hand, a guard gets a Taser arrow while he's down, then, Clint gently inspects the devices. Over comms he calls to the rest of the team: "We've found this Scarecrow guy and a device set up in the elevators, taking a look at the device now."

Harley Quinn has posed:
"AaaaAaAAaaaahhh!! MISTRESS!!" The Darkling is running full speed toward Harley as she marches across the street toward the hospital. Inches behind him, every step of the way, blasts hit the pavement and knocks holes in the ground, barraging him with asphalt shrapnel that bounces and clatters for yards around him.

"Get yer bubblewrap, Humperdink," Harley deadpans as he reaches her side, boomerang in hand as he looks over his shoulder toward War Machine, panting. "We're gonna scatter Scarecrow from here to kingdom come...."

Iron Man has posed:
Iron Man has finally unearthed himself from the mutant, and some time quietly comforting her out of her berserk state. It isn't something he shares on the comms: Iron Man isn't about to broadcast that he's capable of comforting somebody. It's when he gets her to sit down and relax that he blasts off (raggedly, he's not in good shape, very dented and exhausted), and asks over the comm, "So, who needs me? Oh? -- Devices? On the way." Tony likes devices. And supermodels. But devices will do for now.

"Hello, little one," Scarecrow says hauntingly to May as he turns. It will almost feel slow motion, as the drugs Scarecrow released earlier toy at senses of the mind and bend sight and sound just slightly outside the lines of what must actually exist. He blows May a kiss, his spidery, long fingered hand unraveling over the palm: unraveling as much as reality does, as he blows gas in a cloud directly at her AND the thugs. It is a cloud of yellowish, haunting venom. Faces appear to swim, translucent, in the newest breed of fear gas.

A gas that will turn Scarecrow into a towering vision of pure horror, nothing that possibly can ever be fought. The thugs don't have an antidote to this. One collapses weeping, the other shrieks and turns and falls over a chair, wildly clawing at the wall as if it were covered in something terrible. The other thugs back away from it and aim at other threats, not expecting May to be any particular issue anymore; one fell to Clint, and the other opens fire on him.

Melinda May has posed:
The gas his May pretty much square on and she fumbles an attack, shaking her head a bit as everything gets funhouse mirror weird and the less than completely lethal weapons in her hands clatter to the floor. Then she looks around again and pulls a matched pair of blades from under the back of her jacket -- small swords that rival Crocodile Dundee's knife in size.

Is it considered a downside when spending literal decades fighting in every possible horrific scenario has turned May's fight or flight response into almost entirely fight?

With a yell that borders on a scream, she starts attacking anyone and everyone near her regardless of whether they're trying to fight or not. Her movements graceless, fast and brutal. And her butterfly swords are proving to be truly functional live steel blades. She's also working her way toward the scariest thing she sees, Scarecrow himself.

In her current mindset the way to make the fear go away is to obliterate what she perceives to be the source.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint turns from the device when he hears the ruckus caused by the gas. "May! You okay?" he asks, trying to recall if she took an antidote or not. However, that concern is quickly replaced by another, he's in too small a space with someone aiming a gun at him. He ducks, trying to shove the machines back as he goes in a vain attempt to protect them.

Assuming he's not tagged too badly, he turns, raises his bow to put a Taser arrow into the guy who's shooting.

Iron Man has posed:
Scarecrow has seen this sort of response before. He's a master of fear and effects it can have. He still, of course, blinks at May in surprise, but doesn't completely freeze up. He shoves a nearby lab assistant into May's slicing and dicing, turning behind him to push ALL the elevator buttons in the middle elevator, and leaps into the far elevator himself, pressing a button.

"Two elevators are engaged, what's going on in there?" Tony asks over the comms. "I'm going to interfere with that, see if I can stop them." Tony's on task in his own way to attempt to assist the others. He checks on War Machine as he does so, and will be visible to Harley on the ground as well. Iron Man's pretty shiny in the daylight. It's like he likes attention, or something.

Clint's device has some clear wiring that his training will inform him is a pretty simple device that will release the main canister of gas. He can probably easily disarm it, if he's not actively being shot full of bullets. The thug grins as he scores a hit, starting to move closer, until he takes a taser bolt in the /neck/ and goes down hard.

Harley Quinn has posed:
The remaining goons out front aren't a problem. They just avert their eyes as Harley marches resolutely up to the hospital. But anyone on the opposing side...well, she may just end up having to fight her way in. Luckily, Iceman is busy with a gaggle of men with guns. Except now, there's ice. "Frickin'..." She starts, and goes around to one side. She peers up at the roof, grabs a spare grapple hook from what was a melting pile of ice, and swings it lasso-style, catching a ladder, and climbing quickly to the rooftop with a bubble-wrapped Darkling hanging onto the hem of her skirt. From there, she takes the same door May used, and works her way down toward the commotion as quickly as she can with the tell-tale squish-squish of marching bubblewrap hot on her heels.

Melinda May has posed:
May chases after the Scarecrow, giving the lab assistant no more thought than a vicious but poorly aimed slash to get the person out of the way and then jamming both blades into the elevator doors to pry them open and keep the car from leaving.

Problem. She's not physically strong enough to pry the doors open using brute force, and isn't thinking clearly enough to do so intelligently.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint's tactical suit was built with small arms fire in mind, but, the thing about that is that while the suit stops the piercing and bleeding parts about being shot, there's not a lot a flexible suit can do about the impact. It feels like he's standing a home plate at Yankee Stadium while a pitcher throws a 100mph fastball into his back. There's an oof as he staggers forward, then he rounds and fires acting on muscle memory and adrenaline. The thug goes down and Clint staggers back against the wall of the elevator. "Not sure, Tony," in one of the elevators, "Got a bomb rigged to a cannister of that gas. A really big one."

He grits his teeth and checks his wound with his free hand, it comes away from the would clean. The suit did its job, but he's not sure he doesn't have bruised or cracked bones where he was hit. It hurts to breathe, but he forces down a long slow breath, then takes a look at the bomb with watering eyes, setting down the bow. "Guess they don't teach demolitions in the cornfield," he remarks over comms. "I think I got this bomb, no problem," a glance is shot May's way as she throws herself at the elevator. "May's been gassed, gone nuts, need someone to come up and dose her. You able Tony, might have the chance to do it and live with that suit of yours."

His tone was calm by practice not by feeling, there was a tight thread of pain and tension running through it.

Harley Quinn has posed:
Harley stands on the top floor, having pushed the elevator button. Muzak plays "The Girl from Ipanema" as Harley bounces impatiently to the music, waiting for the elevator to come. She watches the lights above the door as it stops on Every. Single. Floor. "GODDD, what'd they do, push every damn button?"

Humperdink, standing behind Harley, is grumbling with a gravelly voice, barely audible above the muzak. as he feigns throwing the boomerang still in his grasp. "Aww...that's not a knife...THIS is a knife..." His Australian accent is terrible.

Iron Man has posed:
"Sure, going to come from the side on five. Should be able to dose her. Where are the devices? The elevators, right? I'm picking up on them. Guessing explosives, or gas. I'll just send them back to floor five," Tony says into the comm.

A few seconds later, the elevator doors in front of May open. Inside, is a device, and a Scarecrow. He reaches out slowly and pushes the 'close door' button. .... Click...?

The other middle elevator stopped on 7, just below Harley's floor: then, much to Harley's dismay probably, starts to go back down instead of up.

Melinda May has posed:
The doors open in front of May and she stares balefully at Scarecrow now that her blades aren't caught any longer. And then she kicks him square in the sternum and steps into the elevator to take out the rest of her fears on the villain.

But, she can't reach him around the giant canister in her way. So, with a snarl she grabs the canister by whatever is convenient and hauls it out of the elevator to get it out of her way.

Harley Quinn has posed:
"Sonofa..." Harley huffs indignantly and turns back to Hump Dundee, and motions for him. "C'mon, we're takin' the stairs. G'damn uppity elevators. Never trusted those things anyway, people fart in those things y'know?" She pulls open the door to the stairs, and starts down at a steady clip, listening at doors on each floor for some sort of commotion. Always two stairs behind her is a faithful THUMP squish THUMP squish THUMP!

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"Sounds good, Tony," Clint says his eyes focused on the wires. "And it's definitely gas, bit old tank of it about two feet from my face," he says, he tugs a wire free. Something starts beeping so he quickly puts it back. "So, yeah, lets get things up to five and clear the place out. And hey if it goes off, make sure you bring Skye by whatever loony bin they stick me in, kay?" he says, with just a hint of dark humour to the otherwise calm tone.

"Ah, there you are you jerk," Clint says, finding a green spiral wire with a fat plug on the end. "Come to papa," he breathes, then, flinching, he yanks it free.

Iron Man has posed:
Scarecrow was drawing out a thing that looks like a remote. With the bombs around, remote probably means boom, but sternum kick is OUCH, and he drops it. Those that might think Scarecrow is defenseless are incorrect, though. He just normally doesn't have to! He's hurting from that kick and collapsed back, but still up. He draws a curved blade, a rounded, rusty looking tool, and slashes at her sideways as he tries to make the best of the bad situation.

Iron Man arrives through from one end of the 5th floor, flying down the hallway at a low, slightly careening cruise. His armor has really seen better days, it looks like he had a brawl with a semi-grumpy Hulk, left leg thruster isn't doing so hot. Still, he arrives at the scene of the open elevator doors and a lot of devices and uncertain thugs. "You guys know the drill," Iron Man sighs at them, and they agree, dropping weapons and fleeing.

"Whiskey machine," Tony asks of War Machine, "Go ahead and use your last gas canisters into the side of floor 5, at my coordinates. Actually--. The whole floor can likely use it." The sudden presence of antidote gas being shot into the laboratory area is no doubt a large relief to a lot of people.

It is the antidote to the old strain, though. If the bombs carry something resistant to antidote... that is another thing altogether.

Clint's bomb doesn't explode. One down.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint let's out a sigh. Coughing a little as Rhodey gasses the floor with antidote. "Nice," he says. He grabs his bow then heads to the bomb in the hallway. "Picking up any more of these?" he asks Tony as he rolls the thing over, sets down his bow and starts to work. "And what the heck happened to your suit?"

Melinda May has posed:
May shoves the bomb out of her way carelessly, knocking it over and by sheer dumb luck landing it so that the green spiral wire gets knocked out of its connector. And then she lunges after Scarecrow again.

The rusty, curved blade manages to nick May's arm, though that only seems to make her want to hit the Scarecrow even more. She uses the flat one of blade to swat at Crane's hand holding the curved knife and try to get him to drop it while the other arm -- the now-injured one -- slashes at the villain's neck.

The new injury and her fear-induced disorientation is working against her though, and the blade snags on the man's eerie costume but barely scratches him if anything.

Harley Quinn has posed:
Having descended three floors without hearing a peep, Harley pauses by the fifth floor doorway. There are at least voices here. And if there are voices, maybe SOMEONE can aim her at the Scarecrow. Harley turns and looks down at Humperdink, who gazes dutifully up at her.

"Mistress don't look so good," he growls. Indeed, she has a black eye and a blue knot on her cheek. Her white makeup is fading off, black lipstick melting in with the white. Tendrils of red- and black- dipped blonde hair are escaping from her starched and scorched white cap. Her dress is torn, blood-stained, and buttons are missing in places, revealing a red full slip beneath.

"Stay here, Humperdink. This guy's bad news, and I'm public enemy number two right now, besides. If I don't make it back out here, give that boomerang back to the guy you took it from, otherwise he's gonna come pound you into dust. And watch out for the dick with the flight suit and all the guns. He wants to vaporize ya. Well...most anybody who's ever met ya does. But not me. You're all I got anymore." She gives his head an affectionate touch, then shoulders her bat with her good arm, pushes open the door, and strides out onto the fifth floor with a confident smile. "Hi guys! I'm here to help!"

Before her is a battle royale between one little woman and a canister. Oh....wait, maybe there's someone inside the elevator, too. Harley leeeeeeeeeans to peer inside without angering the little one.

Iron Man has posed:
"Nothing much. I'm fine. How're you?" Tony asks Clint idly, landing by Clint, and pitches in on the device, of course. Tony surveys it and makes short work of it, in a somewhat different manner than Clint's approach, in that he opened the other end and removed some hardware instead of going for wires. And Tony wouldn't be Tony if he didn't arrive to show somebody up. "You're welcome," Tony says to Clint.
Scarecrow lost his weapon, and tries to grope for the elevator door, attempting to escape from an overly homicidal May. And he heard Harley. "Shoot them!" Scarecrow hisses at Harley expectantly.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint lets out a heh, when Tony takes apart the bomb in own unique way. "That works, " he says getting, and grabbing his bow. When Scarecrow calls for Harley to shoot, he raises it an arrow lightning quick on the string. "No thanks, had enough shooting today," he says bow drawn on Harley. "Want to do set down the piece?"

Melinda May has posed:
May stomps a foot down on Scarecrow's wrist when he gropes for the elevator door, both blades now aimed unsteadily at his masked face. Again, she tries to slice at the villain but succeeds only in ripping a chunk out of his mask and drawing a thin bead of blood along one of his temples.

"DIE already," she snarls at the downed man.

Harley Quinn has posed:
"Duuude, do you SEE this?" Harley says, nodding toward May. "I'd just piss her off." Then, turning to May, she adds, "Miss Slashyface, I have no quarrel with you, Good Madam. THIS sack of stuff, however..." She says, aiming her bat toward the Scarecrow Babe Ruth style, "is RUINING my day." And with that, Harley swings her bat with all her might, crumpling her with pain from her shoulder as she releases the bat in the direction of the Scarecrow's face.

"AaAaAaAaAaAaAah!!" comes a battle cry from behind her as she goes down, as each of Humperdink's heavy footfalls changes the timber of his cry. He throws the boomerang into the elevator from a safe distance behind Harley. It spins into the tiny room, slows, and comes back at the Darkling with all speed, sending him fleeing directly in its path. "ABORT, ABORT!" comes his gravelly cry as he squishes back toward the stairwell.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint holds his fire, the words, then the charge at Scarecrow, that's enough for him, the arrow is still drawn back. "She's with us?" he asks Tony. Though his eyes, and concern flit to the fight in the elevator.

Iron Man has posed:
"Fear will never die, you will /never/ conquer it, run and hide!" Scarecrow hisses at May, counting on her deluded state to help him. He's trapped, but maybe fear can work for him. "You have failed!" Scarecrow continues, asserting himself in tone and presence, even from the floor. To a twisted mind, he is a scarecrow that will never die, it can't, as it was never alive!

Until it is hit with a baseball bat, anyway. 'Fear itself' crumples unconscious with the baseball bat contacting his head, out for the count.

Tony watches most of the chaos, tired. "She doesn't have a comm. I don't know anymore. Right. So I'm going to look for Penny; you got this, Clint?" Tony asks, and starts to follow the signal for Penny's phone out of sight into a corridor into the lab.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"Got it Tony," Clint says, he eases back on the bow string, and snags the arrow, but stops short of putting it in his quivver. "I've got a bad idea," he murmurs to himself, bow set aside, he fixes an ampule to the head of the Taser arrow. "May, hopefully we'll laugh about this later, but," he takes aim and fires.

Harley Quinn has posed:
Harley struggles to get up, using the side of the elevator door as leverage. Better to get outta Dodge while they still think she's on their side. She pauses with a pained look from May to Clint. She holds his gaze for just a moment longer, pulling out Baby and spinning out the cylinder to empty her ammo onto the floor. Then, she clicks the cylinder back into place and reholsters the handgun. She turns her back on him, and everyone else, and disappears back into the stairwell.

Melinda May has posed:
May raises her swords for one more try at chopping the Scarecrow's head off, but then a baseball bat suddenly clonks him into oblivion. She turns to see where it came from and stalks out of the elevator, looking at the trio balefully. She's eyeing them all equally, as she doesn't actually know which of them launched the baseball bat. If she were in her right mind she'd be able to figure it out, but. Well.

She's taken a couple of steps before Clint fires that arrow at her and she tries to not let it stop her, but the combination of the antidote and being tasered win out.

Clint had definitely better hope she either laughs about this later or doesn't remember it at all.

Iron Man has posed:
"I found Penny, she's all right," Tony says, relieved, into the comms. "I'm going to give this party to the police to clean up, they're outside. Bring 'Scarecrow' down for their custody when you can," Tony says to whoever is listening on comm, headed out to do the 'good leader' thing and greet the Gotham police. And reporters. Tony likes reporters, so this isn't really a problem for him.

The police will take over the situation, as will much of the hospital staff, as they have now been dosed with the aerosol cure. Anyone injured is in the right place already, the hospital, which helps save a few lives.

Iceman works to get the military groups cleaned up with War Machine's help, and soon enough things are well in hand.
