Supergirl has posed:
The middle of the afternoon, on this weekend in Riverdale...

The town - at least the good side of town, had a townwide event right now. A bit of a cookout, to raise the spirits of everyone and welcome summer to the world. And the people of Riverdale, not yet tired of the recent cookouts from Memorial Day, had shown up in droves.

And Kara herself had a free Sunday. And she had taken a few days off to try to get her head back into the game with the recent events revolving around Superman, so...

Hanging out with relative strangers was just what the doctor ordered!

And so she was here, dressed in a modest plaid skirt, stockings that led down into shoes, and a leather jacket worn over a woven cream top. The mousy bun and glasses just topped the whole look off.

Paper plate in hand, she adjusts her glasses briefly, plucking up her hot dog from her plate to take a bite of the same. Flashing a wide smile to a random guy who was looking her direction, she takes a bite of the same, surveying the small crowd of Riverdalies who were out to get a bit of free food.

Star Shimmer has posed:
As a certain dark clad figure from Star Shimmer's home town would so finely put it... 'Justice takes no holiday!' Autumn has only been back on Earth for a few days but, She is a Titan and that means she's gotta be out and doing the patrol thing at least every so often. She can't exactly sit in the lounge all day watching TV and waiting for the lastest culinary catastrophe to come crawling out the fridge on its journey to sentience. Nope! She's gotta be out doing something. Plus, Flying on a nice late spring day? You can't ask for better! That is how Star Shimmer has found her way here, leaving Violet light trails across the sky over Riverdale.

Few people would really notice or even care. Some might see them and think fireworks. Others that the aliens were invading, Still there would be very few who would be thinking that radioactive floride was being used for cloud seeding. Thankfully its none of that. Just a regular Earth girl with a power ring sailing across the sky, looking for any trouble she might find.

The sweet aroma of barbecue rose high into the sky and dear gods was it intoxicating. Quickly Shimmer would speak up, "Hey Libby, How much money do I have? I am getting kind of hungry."

The AI in her ring responds, "you have Four US Dollars."

Mon-El has posed:
It seems that not everyone here is a stranger to Kara. Lar is here too, milling about among the Riverdale denizens looking for Kara to check up on her after that whole mess with Superman getting kidnapped and taken to Apokolips. He had been planning on helping to get him back, but something had come up on the other side of the galaxy and he'd sort of figured Kara and the rest of the Justice League would be able to handle the situation.

He seems fairly relieved when he sees her out here, enjoying the weather and the food as well as smiling at the random passerby like her usual optimistic self, which meant that things must have gone quite all right.

Dressed casually as Terrans usually do for this sort of outdoor occasion, he also goes for a free hot dog, then approaches Kara. "Kara," he greets with an amiable smile. "So how's the cousin?"

Lex Luthor has posed:
The distant sound of an engine block exploding on a helicopter is pretty unmistakable as the LexCorp helicopter bringing Mercy, Hope, and Lex himself suddenly loses half it's horsepower from a failed engine turnover. It doesn't happen to Hybrid engines much... but when it does, it's a pain in the ass to deal with.

In the cockpit cabin, the pilot fights with the controls as he tries to start coasting them over to an open field. "Sir, no matter where we land, this is gonna be rough!"

Lex, meanwhile, is calmly looking out the side door of the helicopter and over the view. "I've already done the calculations, Martin. 145 degrees to port, and aim for the highway. You won't be able to land anywhere else without hitting the rotors against a building and sending us out of control." Lex looks up to the rotors briefly, before he looks to Mercy and Hope opposite him within.

"Looks like you'll be earning your pay today, ladies." Lex quips to them.

Supergirl has posed:
The trails in the night sky of violet colored light do draw Kara's eye, the young woman bringing up her hot dog slowly to her lips, caught by the Shimmer in the Stars, that went unnoticed by many of the people here at the cookout today.

Free food did draw a crowd, after all, and the sounds of conversation were almost overwhelming for the Kryptonian. Eyes tracking with mild curiousity on Star Shimmer's flight, Kara was in the middle of taking a bite of hot dog when Mon-El approaches her. "Hmmn?" she says, even as she bites down, the momentary distraction causing her to spill onions and some mustard from the hot dog bun, Kara looking momentarily dazed as she looks back to Mon-El. "Oh! Hello! It's you!" she says, pointing with her index finger around the dog.

Although the momentary excitement draws away as she sobers with the following conversation. "He's still alive. But... his condition is..." That sound of exploding engine was so different from the normal hubbub of conversation that Kara's attention was drawn away from the conversation, her eyes searching the skies again as she spies the copter. "... serious."

Pursing her lips, Kara moves to hand her plate of hot dog off to Mon-El, before turning to trot off. "Hold that for me? I um... you know," she says, making a wide open gesture.

And in the next moment, she was gone, dashing away almost faster than the human eye could see.

Only for a red and blue clad figure to rocket up from the cityline from where she had stashed her normal clothes (and glasses), the supersuit she wore beneath that.

~Supergirl~ was here, and she pivots in the sky to locate the helicopter again.

Star Shimmer has posed:
Star Shimmer lets out a sigh. "Only four dollars? I am not going to be able to afford a place to crash let alone a hamburger. Yeesh." She sighs. "I guess I will need to go busking a little later. maybe I can make a couple bucks." Thats when the explosion goes off. Now there are plenty of explosions going in the form of the occasional firecracker but nothing like this. She quickly turns in the direction of the explosion and launches towards the sourse of it. "Libby, Scan the area, make sure the area is clear of any civilians."

A moment later, The Helicoptor is damaged and is moving for an emergency landing. Between its current position and the nearest safe landing point there are 276 people."

Thats about the point that the red and blue figure who happens to be rocking the El shield gets on the scene. "Okay. She's got the chopper, I can do this much." She begins focusing on all she holds precious. ALl the love within herself. Pointing her ring, she starts forming a construct. a bright violet airship. Its large enough to present a closer landing point and... no civilians.

Mon-El has posed:
Lar chuckles. "Uh, yes. It's...me," he says, sounding somewhat awkward. But his expression sobers into a frown when Kara mentions Kal's condition. "I'm sorry I couldn't be at the final uh--showdown. Emergency in some fringe system." And besides, after he saw that -look- on her face beforehand, he knew the Apokoliptans didn't stand a chance. "But I'm glad you got him back safely. I hope he'll be all right...let me know if there's anything I--"

And then there was that explosion, which causes him to frown even more deeply. That didn't sound good! But before he knows it, Kara has already dumped her hot dog on him and zipped off. He shakes his head. "I need to get better at that." he mutters to himself. Meaning his reaction time -should- be as good as any Kryptonian's, right? Psh.

Anyway, he deposits the hot dogs on a random picnic table and shoots up into the sky himself to get a better view of what was going on with that chopper, not bothering to change or anything.

Lex Luthor has posed:
It doesn't take long for Supergirl to see the helicopter from where she is, what with the trail of smoke coming from behind it from the malfunctioning engine. Inside is a calm Lex, Mercy, and Hope... with a very panicky pilot who is obviously not expecting to have to do emergency landings in the middle of a city today.

Star Shimmer will find it a bit difficult to keep the landing platform stable for the helicopter. The unstable velocity and direction of the malfunctioning engines means it's /aiming/ for the nearest highway.... but it's 50/50 if it'll actually be able to get that way. Still, the pilot does seem to try to start adjusting for it.

Then the second explosion occurs a few seconds later, and the tail blades fail... sending the helicopter into an uncontrolled freefall, and more than enough helicopter debris down below for quite a few civilians to be crushed or at least mutilated in the streets below.

As the secondary explosion occurs, Lex looks to Mercy and Hope... that calm dispassion still there in his voice, "We'll have a window to jump onto a nearby rooftop in about twenty seconds." Lex informs them, before gesturing to the tall apartment complex he has in mind.

Supergirl has posed:
There was something about disasters these days that tended to draw a crowd of capes. And Supergirl was happy that there were more heroes out there, for certain!

There was a momentary thought in the back of her mind, suspicion that Star Shimmer had had something to do with the helicopter starting to crash. Eyes glance to her as Supergirl hovers there a moment, her little red cape fluttering in the wind as she considers.

But yes, Lar. Kryptonians were the very worst. He likely got into the air before her, judging that he cared very little for his secret identity, and Kara's blue eyes briefly light on him, her blonde hair almost iridescent in the noon sky.

A little smile touches her lips. "I've got the helicopter! Can you go help them get a place for me to put it?" she calls out to Lar, accenting her request with a gesture of her hand towards him, then towards Star Shimmer.

It was almost a casual air - another day, another copter crash.

Until the second engine blows. With a gasp, Supergirl decides to duck forward, flying towards the falling helicopter with a downward tilt of her body. Her /intention/ was to swoop beneath it, and try to support it from below. Preferably without tearing hunks of it off this time.

Let's forget about the oil tanker incident from when she was new, okay?!

Star Shimmer has posed:
"On it!" Star Shimmer's Airship quickly vanishes and she takes off towards the falling debris at high speed, She quickly wraps it up in a violet bubble and starts moving it to a safer area away from the civilians.

Then once that is to a safe area She begins looking for a safe spot for landing. "Okay, It looks like they were trying for the bridge. Maybe that is a safe place to land!" She starts moving, "Ummm. Daxamite, Lets get an area cleared on that highway for her to set down the chopper." She takes off and quickly creates two road block constructs and sets them in an area large enough for the chopper to be placed. This disrupts traffic of course. Then its a matter of moving the vehicles and civilians inside the perimeter.

Mon-El has posed:
Hey, there are some benefits to not having to worry about an alter ego or secret identity. Like not getting street clothes stolen or left behind, and stuff.

Lar quirks a brow at Kara's request as the two of them float there, assessing the situation for a moment. He smirks. "Sure, what do you want? A room at the Marriott? Wait, that might be too small. I'll just get people clear of that big parking lot." he says, pointing below. What, it was weird wording, okay?

But then there's a second explosion. Well this situation just got a fair bit more complicated, as the helicopter goes spiraling out of control. The Daxamite zooms off, descending quickly toward the street as he tries to grab people, vehicles with people in them, falling debris, and/or anything else he can do to get bystanders safely out of the way of danger while Kara takes care of the out-of-control chopoper.

Lex Luthor has posed:
Supergirl easily moves to the helicopter and looks to be about to get the situation under control...

Within a few seconds though, the effects will start. Within seconds, there's an unexplained weakness. Within seconds more, things get blurry, and everything speeds up. Senses dampen, and the helicopter is suddenly a lot harder to safely carry as the effects of Kryptonite poisoning from Luthors ring start to become serious for Supergirl.

Down on the ground, Star Shimmer manages to capture most of the debris with her bubble, but that was a fairly radial explosion. Luckily, Mon-El manages to catch the rest as it begins to fall. From below, civilians are busily capturing pictures and video.

The sudden lurching of the helicopter can easily be felt inside, as does the suddenly semi-stabilized flight path. Lex gets up inside the briefly stabilized helicopter, and moves to one side door as he observes the flying heroes. "Someones under us." Lex concludes.

The side door opens, and he gets out onto the semi-walkway as Mercy and Hope both move to either side of the door, ready to grab their boss and get him to safety if things go south.

Lex is even closer to Supergirl, now.

Supergirl has posed:
Trusting in the other two heroes to handle their part, Supergirl manages to grasp ahold of one of the struts underneath the helicopter, moving with care as she flattens her back against the undercarriage, her cape blowing in the wind. But there was something... different here. Something new.

Supergirl's features twist, turning into a frown as she feels her limbs weaken with that shivering snap that felt like poisoning, sapping her strength away. Redoubling her efforts, she presses up into the helicopter even more, gritting her teeth as she affects the trajectory somewhat. But not nearly as much as she needs to. Not nearly as much as it needed to be.

Breathing out a little more, Kara's hands weaken where they hold the strut. And it was less that she was lifting up the copter, and more that the gravity of the falling aircraft was starting to push her down.

Eyes roll upwards, her frown growing all the more severe, her eyes glancing up to Lex Luthor as he manages to come to the side door of the helicopter. It was a weird angle, but it was unmistakable who she was looking at from down below. But her head was spinning.

And with a groan... she... lets go. The helicopter no doubt lurches as all of the strength that she was providing leaves suddenly, and Supergirl was spiraling downwards, whether to slap into that apartment building roof that Lex had seen earlier, or to the street below.

Whatever it was, she was going down with the strain of trying to push past the poisoning, eyes rolling up into her head.

Star Shimmer has posed:
After Getting the debris cleared of the fall, Star Shimmer turned to give a look at the Helicopter and Kryptonian working to save the day. Or... At least thats what she was looking for. Seeing her spiraling down was not expected. Shimmer quickly flew up to put a bubble around the helicopter. "Catch her!" She calls out to Mon-El.

She quickly begins focusing but that helicopter is not exactly light. Whats more, There is something affecting her Love! Its as though there is a distinct lack of love in the area. This is affecting her and her ability to maintain the bubble. With a groan she speaks out. "For hearts Long Lost... And full of Fright." She winces The weight of the hate and the chopper was a lot to her. "For those alone in blackest night." The chopper drops several feet, pushing her down. "Accept our ring... and join our fight." She speaks forcing the words out as she continues descending. "Love Conquers All, With Violet LIGHT!"

In that moment love pours out of her and flows in all directions. The bubble around the chopper ignites in brilliant violet light. With a burst of strength she moves the thing toward the area that had been made safe for the chopper and sets it down. The light fades and the young Star Sapphire falls to her knees for a few moments.

Mon-El has posed:
Zing! Zoom! Whoosh! Within seconds every innocent bystander and every car with an innocent person inside of it is whisked away from the designated landing site, as well as debris either tossed somewhere away from people or simply destroyed by eye lasers. The LZ is clear...now all they need to do is wai--

"Kara!" Lar shouts as he sees that red cape falling toward the street. Seeing that Star Shimmer has the damaged helicopter handled, he takes off toward Supergirl, attempting to catch her before she hits something hard and goes splat! Because if she dropped the helicopter and fell, it can only mean one thing...

Lex Luthor has posed:
Well, this is a lot of activity!

Glancing around with a clear view of the sky and below. When Supergirl is sighted briefly underneath and starts to drop down, Lex squints slightly. "More overt than the other one, it seems..." Lex usually only sees Supergirl on the news after one of her many activities. "Looks like someone in the family was actually going to do it. This will be very interesting..."

From the angle Supergirl was at, she could easily see the green rock on his right hand in a ring. Lex does indeed have Kryptonite.

Then, Lex looks to the source of the violet light. The Man of Tomorrow isn't looking to rock the boat here, especially since it seems Supergirl was trying to kill him! He gives a slight nod in Star Shimmers direction, before he steps upwards and keys the headset microphone, "one of the Lanterns has us." Lex informs the crew. Not like he can really change anything here.

Mon-El should have no problems with catching Supergirl, what with any of the lead in the luxury helicopter Lex was using is inside the superstructure.

Supergirl has posed:
It was... so different.

And for a moment in time, Kara mentally... let go. Let go and just let herself fall into a sea of darkness.

And as she fell away from the kryptonite, it was like there was light at the edges of her vision, slowly being restored. She saw that ring as a shimmer of green in that blackness, at the perfect moment where the sun caught Lex's ring.

And she stirs, feeling herself being caught like that, the shimmering light around the helicopter adding to the colors that were swarming into her vision.

"Lar...?" she mentions, unaware of the consideration that the Man of Tomorrow was paying her. Blinking awake, her brilliantly blue eyes settle on Mon-El's. "... There's Kryptonite somewhere," she informs him. "...I think." Up comes her hand to rub at her temples. How much of that was real?

Star Shimmer has posed:
Shimmer lets her bubble fade away and the chopper rests in the landing zone. At the nod, she would return it but physically, mentally, and most importantly emotionally, She was exhausted. She'd need a few minutes to rest. In light of this, she moves to the chopper and gives a knock on the door, "Hello? Is everyone alright in there? Do we need to call the paramedics?" She asks. She would just scan the helicoptor but right now, that isn't an option.

She turns her attention to the Kryptonian and the Daxomite. Seeing that he did manage to catch her, she lets out a sigh of relief. "Okay, Disaster first, then I will go check on them." She whispers to herself.

Mon-El has posed:
The lead being part of the helicopter doesn't matter much...given that if Lar were without the serum that keeps him alive and makes him immune to futher exposure, he'd be dead whether or not anything around him had lead in it. Especially since he has already been exposed once, and for Daxamites the poisoning is irreversible and permanent. But thanks to Brainiac, time travel, and as much as he'd loathe to admit it, the Phantom Zone; the Daxamite prince is here and not dead or dying.

Thankfully, he manages to catch Kara and set her down safely on the rooftop Lex and his people had originally been planning on jumping to before Star Shimmer intervened. As she came back to herself, he was worriedly scanning her with X-ray vision in an effort to ensure she was all right. He's visibly relieved when she speaks his name, letting out a sigh. "Kara! You okay?" He glances over toward where Star and the wrecked helicopter are. "Yeah, no kidding." he replies to the observation that there must be kryptonite somewhere. "I mean, not sure what else could drop you like that other than magic."

Lex Luthor has posed:
"We're fine, no thanks to 'Supergirl'." Lex informs Star Shimmer with a decidedly neutral expression. "The pilot had matters under control, and the passengers are in a crash cage within the transport itself. There was no danger of serious injuries."

It takes a moment for Lex to look inside, and he gives Mercy a nod, who pulls out her smartphone and dials. A few moment later, and the bodyguard speaks, "LexCorp One has crashed in Riverdale. Lock on my signal and send repair crews and the spare transport. Mr. Luthor wants this bird in the nearest repair depot by the end of the week."

Lex and Hope both step out of the passenger side as Mercy arranges for alternate transport.

"And fire the crew that built this one." Lex adds as he moves onto the rooftop.

Supergirl has posed:
As soon as the kryptonite wooziness had largely passed, leaving her with a sense of rawness aching in her muscles, Kara manages to get to her own feet, bringing up a hand to brush her blonde hair back over her ear, nodding gratefully to Mon-El. "Careful, though. That copter is lined with lead," she says to him.

A glance over her shoulder and she sees the lantern, Shimmer, attending to Luthor. And of course, her superhearing picks up what was said, Supergirl pursing her lips tightly in mild protest.

"That could have gone better," she says to Mon-El with a note of bitterness, just a note, in her tone. "But..." her eyes glance down to Lex's hand again. "Maybe it's better that the Lantern handles this one? I'm going to go check on my things. Make sure that they're, you know, still there," says Kara.

And she was up, up and away, after a... um. Heroic? Day.

It was definitely an ice cream night to soothe savaged egos. Double chocolate chunk, anyone?
