Cast of Characters: Mon-El, Daniel Osborn, Power Girl, Arella Despana

Mon-El has posed:
The Tribeca is for the most part, a nice little neighbhorhood in Manhattan, despite the recent rise in crime. Lar is walking around in one of the popular shopping strips near Kips Bay. The summer evening has set in, and it is just past dusk so that means it's fairly late, although some of the stores are still open and there are still a few night-lifers milling about.

As much as the Daxamite tends to spend quite a bit of his time in space for the most part, he has been hanging around Earth lately--mostly because of his concerns about Superman, who has been acting off ever since the whole mess on Apokolips. Sure, there are a lot of powerful people here, but Mon-El is one of the few who could actually go up against him alone and not get squished.

Daniel Osborn has posed:
"Lar?" The voice may indeed be familiar to Lar, though maybe not, if he's met a lot of people, but it's Oz. He happens to be walking through the same part of town. The more time he spends in New York City, the more he explores, though it'll be a long time before he's very familiar with it. Fortunately, he's not lost this time. He is, however, behind Lar, not in his line of sight, though he's hoping not to scare the daxamite. After all, that could be bad news for him, though he doesn't realize just how bad it really would be. Either way, he's walking casually, pretty relaxed, though he's always carrying his vampire defense at night, and of course a new dagger he recently got, though all of that is hidden, unnecessary, Lar is no threat, after all.

Power Girl has posed:
Karen was...out and about. Even she, sometimes, managed free time that wasn't quite patrolling when she wasn't at the lab. Of course, it wasn't that she disliked being 'Power Girl', far from it! But insistance had been made more than once that she try and enjoy a little normalcy now and then. Dressed in street clothing, the blonde woman was simply making her way down the street with the classic problem for someone who wasn't great at taking a break: no particular place to go.

Armed with a take-away coffee she'd managed to procure on her path, the woman moves through the neighbourhood at a lazy pace. Maybe she'd do some shopping or...something. Damn normal was hard!

Mon-El has posed:
Oz needn't worry about startling Lar at all. The Daxamite probably noticed a bit before he said the name. He stops momentarily to let Oz catch up and smiles in a friendly fashion. "Hey there. Oz, was it? What are you doing here?" he asks politely.

Upon spotting Karen with her coffee, he smiles and nods toward her as well. "Karen." he greets.

Daniel Osborn has posed:
"That's right," oz says, with a smile. "Oh, I spend a lot of time in New york City now, been exploring a lot. I'm usually out pretty late. Figured I'd just do some walking about, you know, familiarize myself with this neighborhood a bit. You?" Karen? Who's Karen? Ah, the other girl that he didn't see until now. He lifts a hand to wave to her, and quickly looks away before his eyes are drawn to places they...shouldn't be. Given she's almost a foot taller than him, yeah, best not to look at her too long, at least at first.

Power Girl has posed:
A blink, turn, how did she miss Lar's presence? Clearly she'd still been stewing in her own thoughts a little too hard. "Oh hey!" she greets, adjusting path towards the familier face and the unknown accompanying Oz whom she'd not met before. "How's it going?"

Small talk was not a super power, but she was trying!

Daniel gets a nod, a polite flash of a smile in greeting before she lazily crosses her arms lightly to sip at her drink.

Mon-El has posed:
Lar nods. "Yeah, this is one of the nicer neighborhoods." He remarks, looking about briefly. "So, where are you from? I take it not here, since you mentioned exploring."

"Oh, you know, the usual." he replies to Karen. "Kind of worried about Kal, to be honest."

Daniel Osborn has posed:
"Sunnydale," Oz says, simply, with a smile. He turns back to karen, his eyes managing to find themselves to her face, and actually, miraculously, stay there. "I take it you must be Karen, then?" he asks. "I'm Oz." Of course, more names he doesn't know. Who's Kal? But he leaves that question unsaid.

Power Girl has posed:
Tilting her head to the side, Karen frowns a little at Lar's comment before exhaling. "I've been a little...out of the loop for a little bit dealing with some stuff. But...things haven't really improved?" Well, at least Lar wasn't going to be alone in the worrying about her cousin. Still, blinking back into reality at the introduction she gives a little chuckle and nods.

"Karen, yeah, that's me. Sorry I was...miles away." Another shake of her head, she sips lightly at her drink. "Long way from Sunnydale Oz. Up here for a vacation?"

Arella Despana has posed:
The party may be all casual and bully for them. Even in civilian clothes the ancient Svartalfar Arella Despana is in costume. Her blue grey skin, white hair, pointy ears and overlarge green eyes mark her as an alien. More specifically a mythological creature in the flesh. A Dark Elf - not seen on Earth for millenia till boom a whole bundle show up. And then a bit later one of them crashes into Canada. She has her hands in her pockets and is walking in the opposite direction to the group paying no attention. She would have had a brief encounter with Mon-El on the rooftops a while back where she snubbed him. If she recognises him now she does not pay him any regard - just continues in the opposite direction not making eye contact and operating a strange alien tech modified tablet device.

Mon-El has posed:
"Well, yes--they have." Lar answers Karen. "He seems to be mostly himself now, but..." he shakes his head, sighing. "I don't know. He's acting cagey. Like something's eating at him but he won't tell anyone what it is. And won't talk about what he saw out there, either. Keeps avoiding questions about it. It's just...not like him to act like that."

"Sunnydale, huh?" he asks Oz. "Well what brings you out here, then?"

He recognizes Arella from a brief encounter earlier, frowning in her direction momentarily but deciding not to bother her just yet. "Well, I'd best get back to the cruiser. It was nice talking to you both." he says with a smile, then he takes off into the sky with a rush of air.

Daniel Osborn has posed:
"Didn't even get a chance to tell him what brought me here," Oz responds, with a half shrug, turning fully to Karen now. "I had a gig. Been getting a lot of them in this area lately, seems advertising is working." The gig is likely for none other than the band whose t-shirt he's wearing, of course. He notices someone coming toward them, and he normally wouldn't give her a second glance, if she weren't alien. However, he doesn't stare, it merely draws his attention for a second glance, and he lifts his hand to wave to her, though if she doesn't respond, or keeps walking, he won't stop her or anything like that, he's treating her like he would any normal human, even if she isn't one.

Power Girl has posed:
At like that, Mon-El is gone, taking off into the sky quite readily. Well crap, and people say she's not subtle. Shaking her head, the blonde woman clears her throat lightly and then looking back at Oz. "So...a gig huh?" she questions, quite a jarring turn away from the clear display of superpowers. "What do you play?"

Arella's approach is noted, picked up by inhuman senses, but she hadn't actually turned to face her just yet properly. Then there was a glimpse of the tablet device and -that- had her looking over curiously.

Arella Despana has posed:
"Accursed Kryptonian's," the dour yet attractive Svartalfar says as her clothing and hair are distended by Mon-El's passage. Her tablet beeps. "And there is yet another one," her eyes fix on Karen and then widen a little. "Why can't there be any fat and ugly Kryptonians?" she asks rhetorically though someone might choose to answer empirically. "You all seem to gain the better parts of athletes, models and lets be frank adult movie stars. Genetics are truly distributed in an unfair manner throughout the multiverse." The Svartalfar fixes her hair. She nods politely to Oswald. Best not be rude.

Daniel Osborn has posed:
Yeah, Oz wasn't even phased by the display of super powers. Clearly, he's seen crazy stuff like that before. And, after all, he did know Lar, so, well. "Guitar," he says, in response to Karen's question. He looks over to the elf, frowning. "What's wrong with kryptonians?" he asks.

Power Girl has posed:
Eyes boggle a little for Karen and she -almost- spits her coffee from her cup as she's outright outed by the other woman, blinking a little in disbelief. Damn it, she'd been out deliberately trying to be 'normal'. Uncrossing her arms, the woman lowers her drink and just sort of...stares. "And...who are you?"

Oz's response was noted, but she was argueably a little distracted by the dark elf making the approach.

Arella Despana has posed:
Arella looks at Oswald, "They are too perfect. We are both here and yet I am questioning your preferences given you are paying too much attention to me and too little to her." Of course bitchy Arella was easy on the eye but she was in a perpetual war of denial against this - so she saw no competition between her and Karen in commanding conventional male attention.

To Karen she bows, "Ahr'ela Despa'nah," she clarifies, "Arella Despana is acceptable however." If Karen knew about galactic history she would know this woman as a villain. A truly terrible one. Trillions of deaths etched across the galaxy in weapons that she deliberately designed. But that was over 5000 years ago. "And who are both of you?"

Daniel Osborn has posed:
Oz looks confused. "Too perfect? I'm paying too much attention to you? Fine." He looks away, deliberately looking at Karen, albeit at her face, though he takes a moment to take her in, and the knowledge that she's kryptonian... "Power Girl?" he asks, though it's more just plain curiosity, no curious excitement like some crazy fanboy, though his eyes return to her face, holding some respect for her. But that's the thing, isn't it? You're not supposed to see the face of a super hero with a secret identity, are you? And, Oz has, isn't that like...one of the biggest super hero no no's? Or something? Oh well. He blatently ignores Arella now, since she wants to be a little bit of a bitch. 2 can play that game, he doesn't even acknowledge her name, or give his own, though he attempts to communicate to Karen exactly what he's doing through facial expressions.

Power Girl has posed:
If Kara Zor-L knew the record, she'd likely spring into action. But given she was both from another universe -and- well and truely younger than Arella? Her only crime she'd commited was outing the blonde woman when she was trying to be 'normal'. "Ah damn it..." she mutters, shaking her head lightly. Of course, her face was technically a match for Supergirl's too, but there were a couple of obvious differences between the two of them.

"I mean..." Could you really deny it at this point between appearance and association to Mon-El? A shrug of her shoulders, at least she hadn't given her name as Karen St-...wait, she had done that. "Yeah."

Back to Arella she turns now, touching one of her hands to her own forehead. "Some things aren't really intended for everyone to know."

Arella Despana has posed:
Arella looks to Oswald and draws a hand over her eyes. "I am sorry did I reveal something I should not have?" Rubbing those large green eyes. Looking at Karen with clear green eyes she asks, "You are associated with that Superman fellow are you not?"

Daniel Osborn has posed:
"Superman is kryptonian too," Oz says, turning back to Arella, no longer ignoring her. "Oz, by the way," he says. So, Karen was outed. Fine. Oz makes no further mention of it, however, more or less acting like he had before she had been, and still taking care to look at her face, and not...other...places. She had looked like the kind of woman who would rip you a new one with her fists if you did that even before she was outed, but knowing she's really Power Girl, well, that definitely changes things a little.

Power Girl has posed:
"I am..." Now there's more questioning to her tone than irritation. Where was this headed? Was there some greater question from the eye-catching elf or did she simply have the social skills of a tea spoon? If nothing else, Arella had succeeded in making Karen feel a little better about her own ability to seem 'normal'. Perhaps that was a good deed for the day.

Oz's comment, it gets a sidelong glance and a nod. Still, Arella's question earns a slight bite of her lip. "And it's more a case of...time and place."

Arella Despana has posed:
"I need a confidence..." Her green eyes turn on Oswald. "And your silence..." She hopes against hope for. "When I was an active 'personality' about five thousand years ago in this galaxy I might nave been a little unethical."

Daniel Osborn has posed:
Oz is usually silent. And he knows she wants him to be silent. So, even if he wants to speak, he's smart enough to know that it's not time to speak yet. However, by the way he's focused on Arella, she should have no doubt in her mind that his entire focus is on her, and he's listening to anything she has to say. Sometimes it's better to shut your mouth and listen, and Oz has lived by that for a long time, now being no exception. But it's also clear that whatever she has to say is just as important to him as it might be to Karen.

Power Girl has posed:
Confidence and silence? This was...a little confusing to say the least with how swift all this had been. Still, if nothing else curiousity was strong in Karen and she nods her head slowly, once more crossing her arms at her chest and tilting her head. No words from the woman, but she's willing to listen.

Arella Despana has posed:
"Well about five thousand years ago. I was the Dark Elves Dr Josef Mengler on the Earth analogy of steroids. I was the worst weapons scientist that ever performed the least ethical experiments - some of whom are still wandering about the galaxy (due to my experiments with ageing - got these primatives into the 1000 year club in age). My experiments were so 'unbounded' it created political tensions. Malekith the Destroyer who was afraid of me drove me out. I got frozen in an escape pod perfectly awake for about five thousand years over which I regretted my horrible actions. And now I am here." Her scaring the unscarable Malekith is left a little vague - Arella posits it being due to a joke she made that he took seriously.

Daniel Osborn has posed:
Oz listens carefully, taking everything Arella says in, seemingly treating it like it's the most important thing in the world. After all, listening is one of his best skills. He waits until she's finished to speak, and when he does, the words are not hateful, fearful, or anything in between, they're friendly, perhaps sympathetic. "That's what's important, isn't it? You regretted all your actions. Everyone makes mistakes, some bigger than others. And you did what you knew, it was how you were born and raised, it was how you wanted to be, because you didn't know anything else. But don't let the past define you. It's all behind you now. It doesn't matter what you did in a past life, it doesn't matter how many other lives you took, how many horrifying things you did to those who never deserved it, what matters is that you regret it all, and you don't want to do it anymore. There's good in everyone, even you. Not everyone is perfect, but this is your chance to start over. Blank slate, in a place where most don't know what you once did. If you need a person to trust, a friend, someone who won't judge you for your past, well." He half shrugs, holding his hand out to her.

Power Girl has posed:
Well, if anyone could sympathize with being stuck in an escape pod? It was probably Kara/Karen/Power Girl. She listens for a moment of silence, taking in what she was told in that quiet explaination. Her lips part to speak, but Daniel beats her to it. Letting the man say his peiece and talk it through, it didn't take much for her to wonder just how much of it all was spoken from personal experience. Still, now it was her turn to speak.

"You were awake all that time?" she questions quietly of the other woman, "over those millenia?"

Arella Despana has posed:
"I was awake for five thousand years frozen in an escape pod that was supposed to make me unconscious - my ageing stopped. In truth given the Dark Elves combination of always dying via war and our lack or records outside of these periods I am not sure I the probable last remaining Svartalfar isn't immune to dying by ageing. But yes I was stuck there by myself with my immesurable crimes for 5000 years - awake and alive and alone." Coughing, "The marauding threat of insanity tormented me all those five millenia of lonely felfection."

Daniel Osborn has posed:
Oz listens to her, taking a deep breath. "I don't know how you didn't go insane," he says. After all, even meditation can only help so much. 5000 years? But he seems not to have more to say at the moment. Ater all, he had done a lot of talking just a minute ago. Now it's time to listen again.

Power Girl has posed:
"Well..." What does one say to that? Karen's not really sure after a moment. Finally she exhales a breath, dropping her arms helplessly to her sides and giving a shrug of her shoulders before closing her eyes. "I don't...I mean..." she begins before exhaling a breath and trying again. "Five thousand years of imprisonment is punishment, punishment enough I would say if you're truely repenting." A glance to Oz and then back towards the elf. "I'm sure Kal-El would think the same. We believe in rehabilitation after all."

Arella Despana has posed:
"You can't repent from what I have done fully... it would almost be disrespectful. I could never be a hero. Perhaps it is enough that I can terrify those who are not..." Arella dissembles. "In any event I have paid my own terrible price. I want to pursue my own version of vindication."
