Most vampires follow the rules as set out in the other news files. But exceptions do exist. The following is a sampling of vampires, and vampire-like beings, that deviate in some way from the norm.

Angel: In 1898 Borsa, Duchy of Bukovina, a Kalderash elder performed the Ritual of Restoration, cursing the vampire Angelus with a soul. Thus, he was forced to endure massive amounts of remorse, guilt, and torment, for all the pain and suffering he had caused as a soulless vampire. Today, he is known as Angel, the vampire with a soul. Sometime before the early 21st century, the transliteration annals for the ritual were lost, rendering the text indecipherable.

Blade: In 1929 London, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Dr. Deacon Frost, a dhampir, feasted on Vanessa Brooks while she was in labour. As the enzymes entered the infant Eric Brooks (Blade)'s bloodstream via his mother, he became tainted, but not converted. In effect, he too was now a dhampir, half-man, and half-vampire. Unlike Dr. Frost, he never succumbed to his vampire half.

Deacon Frost: In 1863 Lindau, Kingdom of Baveria, Dr. Deacon Frost was experimenting with vampire blood in an effort to find the key to immortality. During a scuffle, he accidentally injected himself with a vial of blood that had been taken from a vampire. As the enzymes entered his bloodstream, he became tainted, but not converted. In effect, he was now a dhampir, half-man, and half-vampire. He quickly succumbed to and fully embraced the vampire half.

Dracula: In 1483 Bran, Kingdom of Hungary, the vampire Dracula drank the blood of Varnae, Lord of the Vampires. Shortly after imparting power to his handpicked successor, Varnae committed suicide. Dracula remains a vampire, an ancient one in his own right, but through his connection to Varnae, he gained numerous magical abilities.

Hannibal King: In 1948 London, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Hannibal King was making a modest living as a private investigator when he was bitten by Deacon Frost, a dhampir. As the enzymes entered his bloodstream, he became tainted, but not converted. In effect, he too was now a dhampir, half-man, and half-vampire. Horrified at what he had become, King vowed never to consume the blood of another human being, instead choosing to subsist on pigs blood purchased from local butchers.

Morbius: In 2022, Athens, Hellenic Republic, Dr. Michael Morbius, in an effort to cure a rare blood disorder, began experimental treatments involving vampire bat DNA and electroshock therapy. Although he is now known as Morbius, the living vampire, his condition merely resembles vampirism on a superficial level.

Spike: In 2025 Blüdhaven, United States of America, the vampire Spike was captured by the Initiative and implanted with a cerebral microchip that rendered him unable to harm humans. Although he lacks a soul, Spike is a particularly willful vampire. He has begun to fight alongside the Scooby Gang in an effort to curb boredom, and engender their protection; but mostly boredom.
