Making dinner

Synopsis:	What started out as cooking for fun turned into Angelica feeding a crowd.

Moonstar has posed:
Hunger! The same as a few hours ago...except more ravenous! Following her "instincts, Dani heads down to the kitchen, on a quest to score some food! "As long as Logan hasn't eaten it all..." Dani says with a frown. "Oh, need to grab some apples for Brightwind too...note to self!"

Dani pushes the door open, and...

Firestar has posed:
Ear buds, at once a gift and a bane on existence. Angelica is dancing around the kitchen a little and working on a quick dinner. It isn't that she dances particularly bad, she just doesn't dance well either. She isn't singing along at least. Currently she is dressed in a pair of black sweat pants and a grey tank top. Around her neck is a strange looking piece of tech on a leather cord.

Boom-Boom has posed:
Brunettes, redheads, and now blondes. the kitchen bringhs out everryone, including Tabitha. Hair down, points of her ears peaking out. Skinny jeans in black, a yellow cropped hoodie with BOOM in magenta across the front. Glasses in yellow tinted lenses and red cateye frames on her nose.

"The nose knows what what it likes." the dancing Firestar gets a chuckle while the woman cooks. "The eyes do too. Double whammy!" there she states playfully with a wink at Dani. "I've seen worse moves. Mostly girls who think dancing is measured in BPM."

Moonstar has posed:
Yay! Brunette! With a smile, Dani enters the kitchen, spots Angelica, and says, "Nice moves!" Avoiding the dance moves, Dani moves to the fridge, opens the door, and stares in side. Hypnotically. It sucks her in, as she tries to think and decide...but it is so hard!

Turning at the sound of the new voice, Dani winks back at Tabitha. "Hi Tabi! Yeah, true true. I thought she was pretty good!"

Firestar has posed:
The arrival of the two startles her, hearing most of what they say. She takes out the ear buds and shuts it off,"I really need a kitchen of my own." she laughs after the suddent startle. Giving Tabitha a wink she walks back over to the pot on the cooking top she tells them both,"I am about five minutes out from my take on Zuppa Tuscana. I am still working it out, but it hasn't killed anyone yet. You're both welcome to some. Can you hand me the heavy cream Dani?"

Boom-Boom has posed:
There's grin as Angelica finally catches on she had an audience and Tabitha just chuckles. "We should take you to the city and go do some actual dancing and drinking and standard girls night out. No need for classes so we can pretty much stay as late as needed." she suggests with a rolling hip almost dancing wiggle.

"Zuppa tuscana? That like some Italian thing?" she asks curiously and peeks her head over and around the redhead while Dani is instructed to get the cream. "You should collab with Vanessa, get this stuff made in bulk while we have less kids to feed." she adds playfully.

Moonstar has posed:
"We all need a kitchen of our own!" Dani giggles. Shutting the fridge after grabbing the cream, she looks at the pot! "What is Zuppa Tuscana?" She says quizzically as she hands the heavy cream to Angelica. "Sounds spicy...".

Looking over at Tabi, Dani says, "Oh, dancing and fun sounds like a blast! We need to do that!" Her words echo Tabi's. "I was wondering the same thing!"

Firestar has posed:
Looking at Tabitha as she moves in closer to look, Angelica smirks a little and reaches back when Dani hands her the cream. Carefully she starts to stir it into the pot of cooked potatoes,"It's a potato soup with Italian sausage, kale, and heavy cream. I have been working on a cloned version of the Olive Garden's recipe." She smirks and starts to stir the cream in as she adds,"Vanessa and I collaberated on this version, so hopefully between the two of us we finally hit the mark."

Boom-Boom has posed:
The blonde nods her head and takes in some point black whiffs of the cooking. "Wouldn't spinach or something be a better idea than Kale. Spinach never gets enough love. Easily my third favorite green leave ingredient in stuff I try cook with. Not that I cook much!" she puts forth.

"Not that Jean would approve of me adding my absolute fave to the cooking. We have kids here still." she states and giggles. "But I'm also easy to please with food. Hobo life kind of destroys your ability to get picky. And having also lived the high life. Societally, not just being stoned... Man rich people can get into some weird stuff. The stuff people call delicacies in other cultures. That's just people fucking with rich tourists."

Firestar has posed:
Angelica is stirring something on the stove top while Dani and Tabitha talk to her about whatever she is cooking. She smirks at Tabitha's comment and replies,"Spinach is good, but it lacks the potency to not be covered by the rest of the flavors. It would just be....there." she suggests and turns the heat way down and puts the green leaf vegetable into the potato soup,"Now it's just a matter of heating it through without socrching the cream."

A soft chuckle and she adds,"I am thinking that would be a bit over board, probably better stick with the kale. Maybe next time." she comments about the the absolute fave ingredient.

Boom-Boom has posed:
"Well, a bit too much spinach might turn everything green. So much chloro whatsit, form... thingy." Tabby's science lessons a long memory but she's on the right track for the pigmentation. The stuff may possibly just need slow cooking and stirring now so for the moment she grabs a stool and pulls it up to a near by bench where Angelica was doing food prep initially.

"That stuff is better in baked goods anyway. Brownies, cookies, all the good stuff!" she states with a sagacious nod.

Warpath has posed:
    
What attracted his attention were the scents of cooking that spread through much of the mansion. At least to his nose. Likely anyone else (aside from Logan) wouldn't be able to smell what he can smell from the second floor rec room. James enters the kitchen. He's so thankful he doesn't have to duck in the mansion as doorways have been accommodated for mutants of his size. His 7'2" frame moves through the doorway into the kitchen as he surveys everyone within. A smile graces his lips as he spots Angelica at the range tending to the food. Twisted humor passes through his mind but he knows best not to comment. He gives a nod to Dani and Tabi and then announces, "Ladies. What's cookin?"

Currently James is wearing hiking boots, jeans, and a black tshirt that stretches across his muscular chest.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie comes walking in from the garage area. He has a bit of grease on his shirt and pants, but not to much, and is drying his hands with a paper towel he drops into the trash can. As he hears James greet the ladies he will nod in greeting as well letting the other's question be the voice for now.

Firestar has posed:
"Pretty good in gummy bears too." Angelica quips lightly in regards to what Tabitha says,"I mean it helped me sleep." A wink offered to the blonde. She glancse towards Dani for a second who seems to be busy over at the counter or something.

Glancing over her shoulder, she gives Warpath a grin and a slow wink,"Italian sausage and potatoe soup. Looking like I might have to make a bigger batch." Her gaze lingers on him for a moment longer than m ight be comfortable to some.

seeing Sam too she shakes her head,"I really will have to make another batch." A quick smirk at him and she turns to shut off the heat, remove the pot from it, and then grab a bowl to put a little soup in it taste. She frowns thoughtfully,"It's not exactly right, but it is good." she comments and takes out a few more bowls,"Who's going to be brave?"

Warpath has posed:
    Replying to Angelica's list of foodstuffs, "That sounds great. Please. I'm sure it's going to be delicious. Plus, Sam's making me look like a slouch with his 5 jobs and all the extra things he does on top of that. I'm gonna need food energy to try and keep up."

    James moves to the table and takes a seat with his back to the wall so that he can see the room and waits for his offered food.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks over and smirks a bit "Ah only have the two jobs, here and the club. Ah, was just changing the oil in my truck, might not use it all the time, but best to make sure keep her road ready when Ah need her, or when someone borrows her when Ah aint looking." He glances over at Tabitha.

Firestar has posed:
A smirk crosses her features and Angelica turns back to scoop out two bowls of soup. She nods to Sam and says,"Get you some if you want." She indicates to Dani and Tabi and says,"You two get in there too if you want. I can make up more if we need. Extra potatoes anyway. That's what takes the longest time."

She carries to two bowls to the table and sets one infront of Jimmy and one next to him before heading to the refrigerator for two bottles of water. She gets them and then heads back to the table and winks at Jimmy when she sits down,"Don't get too used to that." she teases lightly as she hands him a bottle of water too.

Boom-Boom has posed:
James and Sam get big grins while she gets kind of distracted by a few texts on her phone. "Gentlemen!" she greets with a faux snooty sounding voice, sure it sounds a little Emma-ish, but that's probably the poshest voice she knows shy of meeting British royalty.

"You know you should work smarter, not harder Sam. Sure fire way to end up with ulcers before you're thirtyfive. Working in a school is hair raising enough." she states and nods. Angelica's attempts to experiment gets a grin. "Not the worst experiment I've been subjected to." she steps up and volunteers for the soup of the day.

Warpath has posed:
    A deep chuckle comes from James' throat as he thinks back to his Jeep in Sam's reference. "I know exactly what you mean. I think Jubilee borrows, slash, drives my Jeep more than I do.

He thanks Angelica for the bowl as she delivers it and he doesn't hesitate to smell with a deep mmmmm sound and then start to dig in. He chews while listening to Tabitha and has a slight grimace look to his face when she mentions being experimented on. He offers a gentle shake of his head in condolences.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks over and says "Well most of the time the club is more relaxing than real work." He admits to her. He ends up moving to get himself and Tabby both a bowl of soup.

Firestar has posed:
Settling into the seat next to Jimmy, she glances at the pot of soup and at Dani for a second. She shrugs, figuring the other is busy and will tell her if she needs more. Finally, she turns to the soup and gets a bite of it, chewing thoughtfully.

Tabitha gets a wink when she mentions not a bad experiment, but otherwise she just studies the food she made. Once the first bite is down, she hmms,"Little salt, maybe a little more fennel." she mutters,"Toss some in butter to open it up and then add it to the mix."

Whether science or cooking, it seems like that brain never stops assessing things and looking for ways to make them better. She touches the little tech piece on the leather cord around her neck and nods to herself about something, then digs in another bite.

Warpath has posed:
There's food going into James' very large mouth. He was raised right not to talk with his mouth full and always to eat everything that is offered; regardless of the taste or whether he likes it or not. However, in this case, he seems to like it as he's doing little to give pause while putting it down. There's a random mmm here and there. Perhaps that's just him commenting to himself. But finally, he does give pause, swallows and pays compliment, "Just like I imagined, Angel. This is good stuff. Thank you."

Boom-Boom has posed:
"If it wasn't Jubes, it would have been me if I'd stuck around. I still got the bike from autoshop class project back when we were students." Tabby says with a grin to Sam being one of said students. "Still my daily drive, I just lived in my van. Beats going back to dumpsters. Trashbags so make for crappy pillows."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie tries the soup, and nods his head "It is good would be great on a nice cold day." He offers to Angelica, and to Tabby, he says "I still got mine as well." He tells her. He will move to set his food on the counter to get himself some tea. "Want anything?" He asks Tabby as he is pouring his drink.

Firestar has posed:
Warpath's compliment gets a wink,"Secret path to a man's heart." she tells him lightly and then takes another bite of her own soup again. Her glance to Sam and she give him a nod. After the bite she tells him,"I think it would be good in the winter too, but I have a few weapons agaist the cold including a chili that Sasquatch taught me to make. It's...potent." she warns. She smiles a little more watching the interactions between Sam and Tabitha for whatever reason and moves her gaze back to her soup,"If someone wants more let me know and I will start another batch. It should take about 15 minutes from this point."

Warpath has posed:
James can't help but comment after swallowing, "Angel would be nice on a cold day." and then chuckles to himself and his stupid joke about her powers being warm. He keeps his head down and puts food back into his mouth, trying not to choke as he chuckles to himself while chewing.

Boom-Boom has posed:
"I'll wait till after the soup Sam, grab myself something then. Soup is still liquid!" Tabby points out. "Mostly!" she addends and chuckles as she makes a go of what's served up for her. It is pretty good.

As the blonde beams a big smile. "While I would not call myself a gourmet, definitely too skinny to be a gourmand. This is that good shit Angie, you rock!" she states and chuckles.

The attempt at flirting by Jimmy gets a grin aimed at him then Angelica. "They try." she explains. "Cute though." she gives a playful grin. "Might as well get the pyro jokes out while you got two of us in the room!" she suggests.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks over and smirks a bit but keeps his mouth shut, Angelica was giving him grief about his sister and now he is not going to add ammo to her teasing, but he does smile a bit as he moves to sit back down listening.

Firestar has posed:
A broad smile crosses Angelica's features at Jimmy's comment and she shakes her head amused. Tabitha's comment gets her attention and she tells her,"I am good with trying. More than I can say about the ones up north." she admits,"Back in Alpha Flight there was one that couldn't talk his way out of a wet paper sack, but sure thought he was a charmer. Cassanova he wasn't."

Under the table she nudges Jimmy's leg with her knee and winks at him,"I'll take this one over that every time."

She is trying to be a little more bold and outspoke, but her cheeks still flush a little red because she isn't very good at it. Taking another bite of her soup, she looks for a way to change the line of thoughts,"Definately cute though. You are right about that."

Warpath has posed:
James looks up sharply at Tabi when she offers the pyro joke angle. Smiling broadly, the Native American chuckles more and then side eyes to Angelica. Knowing that he's probably treading on thin ice. However, her remark and nudge warms him and motivates him to actually glance her way and smile with her wink. His attention returns to the food before him, best to eat while hot. And he can keep his mouth from getting him in hotter water.

Boom-Boom has posed:
Tabby keeps her grin playful. "What, oh right. You guys haven't seen it. I do more than bombs now. Think I slacked off on training my powers after graduation. Totally all flaming hot and stuff. Still can't fly. Which sucks. Everyone else seems to fly with fire or plasma powers. I'm allowed to be jelly!" she states and snaps her fingers to make a little firey orb of plasma wink on and off.

"Plus I'm wingmanning but you probably don't need the help!" she beams to Jimmy playfully. Sam gets a grin as well. "Don't look at me. I was dating girls when I was student. Still dating them now. How is Paige anyway?" she adds and chuckles. "I'm probably worse at flirting with them than you guys!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks to her, Tabby and says "Ok that would be weirder than even Berto flirting with her." He teases back to Tabi. "And at least your not trying to mimic my flying any more. "Ah swear Ah almost bought you a crash helmet, and a parachute that Christmas."

Firestar has posed:
Angelica finishes her soup and stands up. She tells Tabitha lightly,"A good wing man is hard to beat." She leans over and kisses Jimmy's cheek before heading over to the stove top to stir the last little bit of soup,"You're right though, he doesn't need too much help."

The idea of Tabitha trying to fly worries her a little and she offers,"Tabby if you want to catch some air time, just ask. I think I can handle you. You don't weigh much and I'd rather that than try and clean up what happened. I don't mind."

Warpath has posed:
James looks back up to Tabi and mutters something, "I used to be able to fly...". It sounds as if he can't do it any longer and he's sore about it too.

Then he's smacked on the cheek and he smiles, glances to the departing redhead and turns a little red himself - oh wait, he's already red. Redder.

He then takes the opportunity to add on to what Angelica stated and says, "Or I could toss you." to Tabi regarding her urge to fly.

Boom-Boom has posed:
"It's only weird if you let it be weird Sam. Still don't need a chute though. But I did once have a jetpack! Damn that was awesome! I'm probably gonna if I get a mind to try again, and hanging out with all of you is probably gonna send me back down that slippery slope. I might try that convection ionization air movement thing where I don't generate plasma, but charge up anyway and move air around. I think that's how some of the others do it. It's all electrical stuff." The blonde states and hmms.

"I may take you guys up on the assists. Angie you might have the edge on any possible Maneuver Sevens. But both tactics are valid. Like throwing a cluster bomb!" she states.

"How come you can't fly? Isn't it literally just throwing yourself at the ground and missing for you Jimmy?" she asks. "It's not some magical bullshit is it?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will shakes his head abit at Tabby still, but he does finish his food as well, and waits his turn to wash his dish and put it in the dishwasher. "And once Ah was special." He teases a bit "Now even Jay and Melody are chasing after me in the sky." He does not seem honestly upset at this though.

Firestar has posed:
Angelica rinses her bowl out and puts it into the dishwasher. She grabs a bowl and puts the last of the soup in there. She slides it in Dani's direction and goes to rinse out the pot to wash as well,"You're still special Sam, just not the way you used to be." Could be a dig, could be a compliment. Hard to be sure. After that she walks back to lean against the wall next to where Jimmy is sitting, crossing her arms and listening to the banter among her friends. She pauses and looks at each one, lost in thought for a long, quiet moment.

Warpath has posed:
He's done with his food, but he'll remain at the table a bit longer while letting things settle and going with the flow of the conversation. He answers to the best of his knowledge to Tabi. "Perhaps. Though no one can tell me why my powers fluctuate. Perhaps I am akin to Exodus and my emotional state, or something, dictates on what I can and cannot do." He shrugs his broad shoulders and sighs. He misses flying.

Firestar has posed:
"You'll figure it out." Angelica mutters softly near him,"If not, I know somebody that would help me fly you over the ocean sometimes." A genuine offer, not trying to be a wise mouth. Noticing he is done with his bowl, Angelica pushes from the wall and takes Jimmy's bowl over to rinse out and put into the dishwasher. Walking back over to the table again, she leans on the wall near him once more.

Warpath has posed:
Another offer of thanks is given to Angelica when she takes the bowl from James. He watches as she does this, rinses, and puts it in the proper place only to return to his side. He ponders that; There's nothing crazy about this white chick. And then grins to himself.

    He ponders the overall situation between his inability to fly and Tabi's wanting to learn. Then he offers. "We can also work on Danger Room situations where we hone your abilities, Tabitha. Energy focused downward works best. Havok was finally able to fly. Just like Dazzler. Both projecting down to go up. Not that they're any good at it. But they can leap about as well as I can using that rocket principle."

Boom-Boom has posed:
"Paige knows my struggle of not flying. The family that flies together..." Tabby half jokes. "You're still their big brother. That gets ya some leverage and teasing privileges. You can even make dad jokes at your brothers and sisters." she points out solemnly.

Her own bowl is finished, pretty quickly. She might have fallen back into the habit of wolfing food down. "Dunno if I'll ever fly, for me it might be one of those you can't lift yourself type deals." she suggests and puts hands on hips and playfully moves her arms like she was hoisting herself. "I may just steal another jetpack."

Firestar has posed:
"Physics can be manipulated, if you know how." Angelica tells Tabitha,"Like he said, we just have to figure out how to use your power to project you against surfaces and keep you aloft."

Those poor students. The power of science nerd can rise so fast. She realizes she is babbling again and winks at Tabitha,"What can I tell you Tabby, just want to see my family find ways to achieve what they set out for. Lucky you, you're among those now." Just like that, Boomer has been claimed by the introvert instead of the exrovert doing the claiming.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks over and says "Just make sure if your using your powers to blast you forward, you keep an out out where your going and what can take a hit from your power to either redirect you or land you. Blasting towards a building then hey let me blast back out and ya blow a hole into the building and then fall in said hole would suck."

Boom-Boom has posed:
"Jetpacks for everyone then. Look, I am nothing if not a fan of using technology to supplement power control where possible. Cyke's glasses. Someone needs to make some nice bling for Rogueb to house inhibitor tech. The stuff Havok wears." she points out. "At least now I can see what direction I'm going now when I do blast, no more back asswards 'nade jumping like in those old videogames."

Hands extend out in front of her and pull back in while she looks over her shoulder.

Warpath has posed:
James stands and says, "I like those ideas. But I need to get to a staff development meeting. We'll all work on jetpacks." He'll bump Angelica in passing, playfully and moves on.

Firestar has posed:
Angelica smirks as Jimmy bumps her and heads out. She watches him go and takes the seat he was sitting in, taking a drink of her water. Her attention moves to Tabitha and she smirks,"The jet pack thing could be fun though." She touches the strange necklace again and nods,"Tech can be useful that's for sure."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, and says "And then of course you never know work on it might come to you or just out of the blue sometimes. With our powers sometimes you never know what is next."

Boom-Boom has posed:
"I'm not saying not train. I'm just saying supplement when you need to do a thing but not quite ready. It's not like an always on power." Tabby states with a nod of her head as she finally climbs down from the stool she's perched on and puts her own empty bowl in the dishwasher after a detour to the sink for a quick rinse.

"Jet packs are like training wheels in this case." she states and whooshes about from the dishwasher back to the bench with arms in front in a Superman flying pose.

Firestar has posed:
Another smile and Angelica is quiet again. Not for long though. She looks between the two of you and sighs,"You two, Jimmy, Vanessa...bring Bobby and Spidey along and I actaully have a family again." Taking a drink again she seems...well happy, maybe for the first time in a long while.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smirks a bit and says "Well your part of our family and will be no matter where you are." He offers and sips his tea. He does chuckle a bit at Tabby

Firestar has posed:
Angelica nods, a little bit of that shy girl smile for a second and she says,"I appreciate that. You don't know how much." Her phone chirps at her and she hmms before standing up,"I need to make a call and I think we've pretty much cleared the kitchen. Fed them and sent them away." She starts towards the door and tells Sam playfully,"Watch out for that one. Tabitha might play with the girls, but the right guy might sway her to play both sides. Never know." She rolls her fingers in a little wave and heads out,"Night Sam."
