Profile
Grant Ward is a man with a troubled past and a promising future. He doesn't talk much about his past, though it can be surmised that he comes from some level of abuse. It would at least explain the obvious nightmares. Either way, he has served in SHIELD since he was twenty one, and has been an efficient agent. He has risen to the level of trust and skill that he is now often training other agents in both field exercises and in combat. A private man, he has the possibility to be a good friend once you really get to know him..

Description

This handsome man has an easy way about him. He stands a finely muscled 6'2", with wide shoulders and an infectious smile. His eyes are brown, like his hair. His hair is cut short, but not to military length, and is often lightly gelled. He is handsome in a classical sense, with a strong jaw, intense eyes and an easy smile.
The man is clearly in excellent shape, and he tends towards clothes that fit in when not on-duty. His clothing tends to be fairly middle-class and blue-collar. Jeans, boots, t-shirts and flannel, along with baseball caps. He vanishes into a crowd in such. When working he tends towards black suits with ties. A spook.

History
Grant Ward was born to wealthy parents in Connecticut. He had a rough childhood with two siblings, and his records show some signs of parental issues. Either way, an accident caused the house to burn down. He lived on the streets until he signed up for the United States Marines, which he served in as Force Recon for eight years before joining the SHIELD Academy.
He graduated the Academy with incredibly high marks and joined the Operations branch of SHIELD. He has since been a loyal and dangerous member of the organization.
Some or all of these things may possibly be entirely false. Either way, these are the facts presented in all existing files on Grant.

Personality
Grant Ward is...complicated. He is a strong soldier and a skilled agent, and whoever has his loyalty has it to the bone. He can be selfish sometimes, but never a coward. When somebody earns his ire it takes a lot of work to make it go away, and he sometimes makes snap judgements on people that it takes awhile to get rid of.
Abilities

PHYSICAL SPECIMEN
Grant is not superhuman. However, he is in exceptional shape. He can stay up longer, run faster, punch harder. He is Olympic level, or damn near it, in most physical acts.
WILLPOWER
Grant can be put through Hell and emerge unscathed. He can keep fitting while holding his guts in with one hand. He can joke his way through torture. In addition to all of this, his mind is incredibly hard to crack. He can fool lie detectors or truth serums, and it is almost impossible to read his mind past surface thoughts, which he is trained in.

Skills

CLOSE COMBAT
He is an expert in hand-to-hand combat. There are a couple of SHIELD Agents who are better then him (Such as The Cavalry), but when it comes down to it he is one of the best. He uses a mixture of Eastern and Western fighting styles, along with the standard SHIELD styles. He runs some combat classes for other Agents, in addition. This also covers his skill with melee weapons, and assassination tools. Knives, clubs, garrotes, etc. He is deadly in all of them.
FIREARMS
He can handle a sniper rifle as easily as a submachine gun. He is a soldier, and a deadly efficient one at that. He often handles sniper-related missions when needed, due to his patience and aim. He also has good speed and aim with most other firearms. He is no Deadshot or Bullseye, but he is good.
LARCENY
He can pick locks and pockets like an expert thief. This includes tumbler locks, master safes, and computer locks. He can do sleight of hand and knows distraction techniques as well. He can move with incredible stealth, to aid him in all of these things, and is capable of standing still for hours on end.
MULTILINGUAL
He speaks a number of languages quite fluently, and can even fake accents. English, French, German, Russian, Arabic, Afrikaans, Swiss, Japanese and Spanish are his most fluent. He is not as good in some as he others, but is passable in most of them.
PILOTING
He can handle all forms of cars, as well as motorcycles. He can also drive tanks and other military vehicles. He knows how to fly a plane and a helicopter, as well. He is not as good of a pilot as some other Agents, but he is more then capable to handle the job on an Op when another is not available.
SUBTERFUGE
Grant can lie for days. He is a master of slipping into undercover roles. He is skilled with disguises, and with the right clothes and prosthetics he can pretend to be someone even to a person close to the target. He can fool lie detectors, and as mentioned in Willpower, beat truth serum. He is a master spy, and sometimes it becomes difficult to take the mask off.
SURVIVAL
Grant can survive in almost any wilderness environment indefinatly. If dropped off in a wild environment with nothing, he can acquire tools to survive, along with shelter, food, and anything else he needs. He has survived in the wild for months on his own. Sometimes he goes on extended camping trips when he is off-duty to enjoy the isolation.
TACTICS
He is deadly over comms, just like he is in person. He can plan ops when the need arises, and he knows how to plan ambushes, rescues, and all the other mission types. He is very good at it, but prefers being in the field.

DOUBLE AGENT
It is specifically left open in this application on whether or not Grant Ward is secretly a villain or not. Should be interesting, right?
ENEMIES
Either as an Agent of SHIELD or from his own personal life, Grant has made enemies. There are people who would certainly not mind seeing him taken down a peg or two.
SHADES OF GREY
Ward is willing to do things a lot of other Agents are not. He will coldly kill a person if it will further the goals of his organization.
