Daken is a child of awful tragedy. Torn from his mothers womb as a child by nefarious forces and seemingly abandoned by his father, Daken has no real direction in life...and has a host of issues to account for. Daken is trying to make sense of the world, entering it once more out of a self-imposed exile....to try to understand it. He wants to make his father proud.

Description:

Despite standing at a mere 5'9", Daken Akihiro is a presence that seemingly fills any space he's constrained within. He's possessed of a commanding presence, demanding of attention for good or ill, and he wields that aura like a weapon. He seems to bask in the spotlight, and enjoys the feeling of all eyes being turned on him.

His features are uniquely Eurasian. His forehead is smooth, with a neat straight hairline. His brows are dark, thin and straight, over a pair of almond shaped, piercing eyes that are the color of clear summer skies. His nose is straight and perfectly sized for his face. His lips are just shy of pouty, and soft despite a propensity for cold, cruel sneers, and the predatory teeth hidden behind them. His face is marked with high cheekbones that are just prominent enough that it seem like their edge could cut like a razor blade. His jaw is strong, and chiseled, leading to an equally squared off, but tapered chin. Overall, his unique blend of Germanic and Japanese heritage gives him a look that combines rugged Western features with Asian elegance, with a hint of a feral edge.

Daken's hair is thick and raven black, with the hints of blue held within its lustrous sheen. He wears it in a mohawk style, with the sides shaved clean to the skin. The stripe of remaining hair is wild, and unruly, falling nearly to his shoulders from the top, and held into a long, flowing tail at the nape of his neck.

The cut of his body is lean, with broad shoulders and a narrow tapering waist to give him an iconic v shaped profile. His golden ivory flesh is clear and without blemish, and his body is complimented by well defined musculature that is chiseled, and not too large, but pleasing to the eye. His limbs are long, without being lanky, and his hands and feet are large, but soft and almost elegantly shaped. His left arm is covered with an inky black tattoo, that resembles a series of coiling vines that winds from his wrist and up to his shoulder, before sweeping down the left side of his body, and across his broad back.

History

History:

Akihiro was the son of the Canadian known as Logan, and his then wife, Itsu. In 1946, Itsu was assassinated by those who would have seen Logan forced back into the life he had left behind. Left in his mother's cooling womb, the mysterious Romulus cut the child from Itsu's corpse, saving his life and leaving him with a native Japanese couple who had been trying, and failing, to have a child.

Akihiro's parents, Akihira and Natsumi, were a wealthy, and traditional Japanese couple. They saw this abandoned child as a gift from the Heavens. An answer to their prayers for a family of their own. Though he was named Akihiro by his adoptive father, the local residents of Miyagi Prefecture called the young boy Daken, which means "Bastard Dog", in mockery of his mixed Eurasian lineage. Years of being bullied by the other children of his hometown led to Akihiro becoming detached and cold to all save for his father.

One night, Natsumi revealed to her husband that she had finally become pregnant, and that she had never borne any love for their adopted son. Akihiro himself had heard this, and what little warmth was left in his heart was utterly crushed. In 1957, Akihiro confronted Natsumi with the confession that he had murdered the newborn child. His father immediately disowned the boy, prompting him to proclaim that "Akihiro" had never been his true name, anyway. His mother had left during the exchange, but came at him, attempting to impale him on the end of a bayonet. However, Daken reacted, suddenly sprouting claws that he cut his mother down with. Unable to force himself to harm his son, Akihira instead committed suicide with the bayonet. In the wake of thee tragic events, Romulus appeared to Daken for the first time since his cursed birth.

Under Romulus, Daken was sent to the same training grounds that his biological father before him had been trained at. He was even trained under the same man. Eventually, Daken was ordered by Romulus to kill every man at the camp. Including his trainer. It was during that battle that Daken first realized that he could manipulate the emotions of others. Daken used his newfound power to cause his trainer to feel giddy, which confused him, allowing Daken to gain the upper hand early, and draw first blood. However, it wasn't enough, and the trainer eventually recovered and a brutal fight ensued. Daken eventually came out victorious, and was about to use the trainer's own gun to murder him when he was stopped by Romulus. Romulus revealed he had plans for the both of them. As it turns out, these plans led to Romulus covering Daken's claws in adamantium.

Years later, Romulus revealed to Daken that his biological father was still alive, and claimed that it was Logan who had murdered Itsu, when she revealed that she wanted to keep him, their child. With this lie festering in Daken's heart, he spent the next several decades training, studying, and preparing for a final act of vengeance against his father. The drive to get revenge for the life and love that had been stolen from him resulted in many bloody battles against his father and those close to him. Eventually, the truth came out, however. Realizing that his entire long life had been a deception used to manipulate him, Daken was left listless and without focus in his life. He wandered the world for awhile, being an assassin for hire, becoming a powerful crime lord, and more.

Eventually, though, the inferno of hatred that had raged within him for so many decades began to wane. He found himself wondering what might have been. He wanted to know about what life was stolen from him by Romulus and his lies and manipulations. Now, he's prepared to take the first tentative steps towards healing the rifts torn between himself and his living family. He's far from an angel, but even devils can earn forgiveness.

Personality:

Unlike his father Logan, Daken has no moral objections to killing. After all, he's been doing it in a professional capacity for over 60 years. However, like both his father and the Winter Soldier, the majority of Daken's personality had been artificially erased, rendering him little more than a living weapon capable of tactical and strategic forethought in order to carry out assassinations. According to a powerful telepath and psychologist, Daken has been heavily and irreversibly brainwashed, though he is starting to prove the theory wrong about this being irreversible. Thanks to learning the truth about his past, Daken has recovered some of his original mind and now seeks revenge against Romulus.

Daken is often seen as bisexual, having engaged in sexual situations with both men and women. Daken often humorously states how he "...always did like playing for both teams," a double entendre referencing bisexuality and his time spent as a villain and now trying to play hero. In truth, Daken will do anyone and anything to achieve his goals and he's past that kind of identification. He's beyond it. He's no more homosexual than he is heterosexual. It's about control.

Abilities

Adamantium Claws:
Daken possesses three retractable claws housed beneath the skin and muscle of his forearms; two on the top of his hands and one underneath. The upper two are housed between his first and third knuckles, while the third emerges from his wrist. Unlike his father's smooth natural bone claws, Daken's bones are apparently black and rough, and are naturally much harder than natural human bone, with an inherent razor sharp edge. Their lethality was only increased when they were coated in adamantium by Romulus. Where before they could slice through iron and steel with the appropriate force, he can now cut through virtually anything aside from Vibranium.

Empathy:
Daken has the ability to sense and read the emotions/feelings/intentions of people and animals. In conjunction with his enhanced senses and knowledge of pheromones, he can expertly judge the emotional/physical state of those around him.

Healing Factor:
Daken's primary mutant power is an accelerated healing factor that allows him to rapidly regenerate any damaged, missing or destroyed bodily tissues, cells, limbs and organs. Unlike his father's automatic regeneration, Daken can seemingly influence the rate personal recovery via conscious thought and emotional temperance. With focus, his healing factor is so strong that it allows him to rapidly regenerate any damage done to him. even regenerate missing limbs. He regenerates from gunshot wounds and stabs in seconds, serious injuries in minutes, and he can regrow his limbs over a longer period of time. With his healing factor, he possesses a highly extended lifespan. Though he was born sometime in 1946, he retains the health, appearance and physical vitality of a man in his early twenties. Due to his highly efficient immune system, Daken is immune to most Earthly diseases, infections and disorders, and extremely resistant to especially deadly and virulent diseases like anthrax, smallpox and HIV. Daken's natural healing also affords him limited immunity to all poisons, gas attacks, nerve toxins and drugs, except in massive doses.

Pheromone Control:
Daken possesses the unique ability to manipulate his pheromones. He can use this for the purpose of suppressing his own scent to such a degree that it can't be tracked. He can also use his pheromones to manipulate the emotional state. He has been known to use this power to instill intense fear, happiness, depression, sexual arousal, and a false sense of security to other beings. His pheromone powers are physical in nature, not psionic. Daken used this power unconsciously during his youth and formative years, though the mysterious Romulus has taught him to consciously use and control it. He also appears to have great knowledge as to the capabilities of pheromones in general as well as their taste and smell.

Physiology:
Thanks in large part to his enhanced senses and healing factor, Daken is afforded a corporeal form that borders on the level of superhuman. Daken's strength is extended to the peak of human potential. He is capable of lifting up to 800 lbs with maximum effort. As is the case with his father, Daken's mutant healing factor grants him high immunity against lactic acid and other fatigue toxins generated by his muscles during physical activity granting him exceptional endurance. His lung capacity is at peak human level enabling him to hold breath for several minutes under water. He can exert himself for 24 hours before the buildup of fatigue toxins in his blood begins to impair his ability to function. His skin, bone, and muscle tissues are augmented to levels that are considerably stronger and harder than most human beings, making him highly resistant to most types of damage, especially blunt force trauma. Thanks to his healing factor combined with his enhanced senses, Daken's agility, balance, flexibility, dexterity, and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete. He is able to run and move at speeds superior to those of any Olympic athlete, and is capable of reaching speeds of 40 mph. He has the ability to attack faster than the eye can follow. His combat speed seems more enhanced then anything else, with reflexes that are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of baseline humans.

Superhuman Senses:
Daken possesses superhumanly acute senses that are comparable or even greater than certain animals, such as dogs or wolves. He can see much further and with greater clarity than a normal human, even retaining much of this clarity even in near total darkness. Daken's hearing is similarly enhanced, enabling him to ear with amazing clarity, distance, and even frequencies outside normal range. Daken's sense of smell is able to recognize people and objects by scent, even if they are well hidden. He can track a target by scent, even if the scent has been greatly eroded by time and weather factors, with an extraordinary degree of success. Daken can also use his keen sense of smell to detect lies due to chemical changes within a person's scent.

Will:

Daken has a monstrous, inhuman will that drives him beyond the bounds of most. It certainly doesn't hurt that he also seems to have an almost masochistic draw to pain, which tends to throw off his opponents. His ability to remain collected and cool in the face of massive trauma is simply not a trait that most will ever have, no matter what their superhuman abilities may be. With years of experience and extensive training under Romulus, as well as the mental brainwashing done on him by the same, he is highly resistant to telepathy.

Acrobatics:
Since Daken doesn't have extensive adamantium coating every bone inside of him, he is more light weight, and can do more "acrobatics" in the air, which also gives him an advantage against his opponents. He is skilled in gymnastics, acrobatics and aerials capable of numerous complex maneuvers and feats.

Cunning Intellect:
Daken possesses the ability to quickly process multiple information streams and rapidly respond to changing tactical situations. This allows him to quickly assess a situation or threat, and respond accordingly. With his intellect, Daken is an expert strategist and tactician.

Martial Arts:
Daken is a master of hand to hand combat and a multitude of martial arts that he had learned during his travels around the globe. His mastery of fighting styles are incredibly numerous, and he blends it in to his own custom style of combat in a manner that he can best those who are stronger and faster than he is. He fights dirty, and with stealth, using his speed and training to seemingly vanish from sight only to reappear elsewhere, by staying just where his enemy isn't looking. Much like his skill with his hands, he is gifted with the blade as well...though he mostly uses his claws to solve problems.

Multilingual:
Daken can fluently read and speak English, Japanese, Greek, and German.

Subterfuge:
Daken knows how to hide and undermine others. Used in perfect tandom with his ability to control pheromones, he can manipulate someone into following his commands or undermine them compltely. Even without this mutant ability, Daken is very skilled at reading and analyzing others, proving to be a good judge of character. He can ascertain someone's fears, desires, and what they could want. He barely has anything preventing him from at least trying to do so.

Tracker:

Due to his enhanced senses as well as extensive training in survival under the tutelage of Romulus, Daken is a rather astute tracker and has memorized many different scent profiles.

Accumulated Wealth:
Daken has spent decades as a mercenary and assassin and crime lord. Over that time, he has saved up a small fortune, scattered among safety deposit boxes, off-shore accounts, and good old fashioned "under the bed" hiding places. He has a number of holdings, mostly out of the way safehouses, as well as weapons caches scattered across the globe, should he ever truly need to access them in an emergency.

Connections:
Daken knows some people who know some people, and even though they probably don't trust one another, he can sometimes call in a favor or two and get things done...or use his pheromones and get things done, either way. He has had experiences during his time as a mercenary and from his various dalliances with authority in the underworld, ranging from "grey area" legality to outright villains, with a tiny smattering of those among them who might be called heroic.

Wolverine:

Though their relationship is extremely rocky, depending on the situation he could call upon his greatest family member: Wolverine. Though they've had more than a few catastrophic differences (which has led to claw fights), he can call on him if he -truly- needs it...and is -sincere-.

Carbonadium:
This substance, when introduced to his body, suppresses his healing factor, though not entirely. It slows his healing factor to essentially a crawl until it is removed, digested, or processed. Carbonadium is a fairly rare metal, and it is also radioactive; the primary source of carbonadium was destroyed, but some quantity of the metal still exists around the world. It is more malleable than adamantium, so it can be shaped much more easily, but it is also extremely difficult to destroy.

Muramasa Blade:
The Muramasa blade. A weapon of Japanese origin whose very blade is meant to completely nullify healing factors. A single cut with this weapon can take up to seven days to heal...even for someone with as strong a healing factor as Daken. If he were ever struck with such a weapon: bad news.

Pheromones:
the thing with Daken's pheromones is that he can't control it all the time...which means he could unintentionally spark intense feelings of whatever aptitude in someone else for him or about him. This can lead to awkwardness and rather strange encounters. Though not all are exactly repulsed by Daken himself.

Recognizeable:
Daken is a very beautiful human being. Many could find him impossibly attractive, and his sense of attire points him out in a crowd of well-dressed people. He sometimes have to make an effort to disappear rather than do so easily. He's a hard face to forget.

Trust Issues:

It's difficult for Daken to maintain any level of trust with anyone, especially after they learn about his ability to manipulate emotions. It's true that most would never find him trustworthy because of this, but it also can make it difficult for him to get things done if trust is a large issue. It's not insurmountable, especially if he applies his charm subtly, but it can complicate matters and burn bridges that he may miss later.
