Profile
Born into a family in Mexico that had to cross the border in a hurry thanks to anti-Mutant sentiments growing in her home town, Ainsley has always known loneliness and isolation, even among her own family members due to being the reason they had to flee. Having come to the greater cities in the Northeast meant finding a new life where maybe she didn't have to hide anymore, but her history, alien appearance and frightening abilities make being normal an impossibility.

Here stands a five foot tall rattlesnake person. She has the colorations of a diamondback rattlesnake, and much of the appearance. Her inhuman head resembles that of a snake, though seems capable of facial expressions all the same, complete with a lack of obvious ears, the long forked tongue, and a pair of slit-pupil gold eyes that look nothing like the snake she's supposed to resemble. Her maw has sharp teeth in it, as well as a pair of retractable fangs. Her whole body is covered in scales, and she possesses a very long tail with a rattle on the end that makes a deep hissing sound when shaken. She is muscular and almost stocky, and it's only by the width of her hips that one might know she's even female as she is flat as a board and otherwise difficult to identify as female.
She's currently wearing a pair of black pants with a black short-sleeved shirt, with black fingerless gloves. The outfit seems to be made of an elastic material to account for her incredible flexibility.

History

Ainsley Garcia was born to a fairly large Mexican family near the border of the United States. Naturally, this family was big only because of the drug trade that rocked the area and so it was pretty normal for kids to just get shot. She was born a mutant, the youngest of all of her siblings, and her parents immediately thought of abandoning her to avoid the problems raising her would cause. Her appearance was, frankly, not normal.
It didn't take long after they decided to keep her for her family to be driven out of Mexico by superstitious criminals who saw her as the manifestation of the devil. Her family resettled in the Mid-West where opinions on mutants weren't much better but they could at least avoid the drug trade and raise their daughter in peace... though most of the family blamed her for being uprooted from their ancestral home and so she spent a greater chunk of her life feeling alone even among those who were meant to love her.
She had a powerful mind, being a mutant, and absorbed knowledge quickly. It turned out her abilities granted her a head start on most learned skills until it became clear she was a mind reader when she started actively responding to the thoughts of people around her. The fear she felt from the town she lived in forced her to flee, and the stress of this manifested her most chilling ability: She could control any human that made eye contact with her that she could speak to.
She used this ability to cross the country, leaving a string of rumors of the 'serpent hitchhiker' in her wake, until she ended up in the big cities in the northeast.

All in all, she's a fairly kind creature due to her circumstances and personal motivations, and desires only that people feel happy or safe in the end.
Ainsley is a skittish creature who lives in poverty out of choice, who sees the pain and suffering of others and the hatred of the alien and different and wants to make a change, but she is afraid of her own abilities and her appearance and what it might mean if she really gained momentum with them. She could be demonized in an instant, as she saw from the past, and so she avoids the direct attention of the media and lets them formulate their own stories about her where they please.
Growing up in a mexican catholic household made her very ethical, but she has been forced to kill to protect herself and she finds a certain subconscious superiority over those susceptible to her powers, and so it is increasingly difficult for her to justify sparing those that might go on to hurt others.All in all, she's a fairly kind creature due to her circumstances and personal motivations, and desires only that people feel happy or safe in the end.

MENTAL DEFENSE
A passive strength built into her mind, it makes her virtually invisible to psionic individuals, to the point that the only way to track her presence is by following the trail of people she has controlled in the past. The only way to break these defenses is by making eye contact with her, which is when the psychic channel opens up for her abilities to work.
MIND CONTROL
The ability to command human beings and animals by making eye contact and speaking to them. This control can be broken by those with particularly strong willpower, and make be dispelled if attention is brought to the forced behavior by an outside party. Control is not absolute and does not last more than a day, and commands that go completely against the nature of a target may just fail to work and instead inflict a form of psychic damage as the power malfunctions on them.
MIND READING
The ability to read surface thoughts and emotions belonging to human beings. Making physical contact allows Sibilance to read memories and deeper thoughts and feelings, but runs the risk of disorienting Sibilance or damaging the psyche. Must be skin on skin contact and requires concentration.
SUPERHUMAN
Due to the extensive physical mutations present in Sibilance, she possessed the ability to lift and throw grown men with her bare hands, to run at about 40 MPH, to leap a couple stories up into the air, but only possesses as much durability as is required to perform these acts safely. Her capacity for utilizing the upper range of her bodily strength is limited, as she could seriously hurt herself in ways a similarly strong hero would not if applied in combat or other extreme situations.
She possesses almost supernatural reflexes, allowing her to perform acts like dodging a hail of gunfire in a hallway or avoiding the attacks of a trained warrior. She is also very flexible, in a fashion akin to a contortionist, allowing her to fit into cramped spaces that others would never be able to follow her into.
VENOM
Sibilance has fangs that contain a paralytic venom, which seems to perform no more damage than any medical numbing agent would.

THE GARDEN
Also known as Sibilance's hideout, the Garden is an old greenhouse atop an even older building that she has repurposed to be full of plants that she raises herself. It is filled with all manner of food and medicinal plants that she may used to recuperate from taxing battles.

ALIEN
Not literally a space alien, though funnily enough she is an illegal alien due to being born in Mexico. Even if she were to overcome this problem, she also has the problem of looking like a snake person, which makes it awfully hard for people to trust her.
COLD
The cold is detrimental to Sibilance's well-being. Unsurprisingly, being snake-like includes being unable to generate bodyheat effectively, so she must wear heavy clothing and stick to populated areas where heating systems are common.
