|Profile=On her 17th birthday, Amy Winston discovered she was a princess from another world and a wielder of powerful magics. "Princess Amethyst" has inherited an ancient struggle between Order and Chaos that she barely comprehends. Whatever the responsibilities her heritage has heaped upon her, Amy has found that what her mother said was true:  she always does the right thing.

|Profile=Amy Winston was raised as an outcast and a rebel, feeling like she never fit in. And it turned out there was a good reason for that. On her 17th birthday she discovered she was secretly a magical princess from a fantasy world. Now, as Lady Amethyst, she fights for good and truth both on Gemworld and Earth.
|Description=Princess Amaya Amethyst is a very lovely young woman. Her long, blonde hair is set with a gold and amethyst tiara. She wears a fantastic, archaic costume made from shimmery material. Save for a midnight blue bodysuit, everything she wears is amethyst purple with golden trim. A ceremonial breastplate covers her chest, leaving her shoulders and collarbone bare. A large amethyst is set in the center, embellished with golden wings resembling her tiara. Gold and amethyst jewelry adorns her arms and waist. A length of (amethyst) cloth constantly billows about her, attached to her right shoulder and left hand. It never stays still, catching the slightest breezes, and never seems to catch on anything. A saber is sheathed at her hip.

|History=Born in Gem World, Amaya, or Amy grew up on Earth with just her mother. The two of them moved around often making it hard for Amy to make friends or belong. On top of that, she was trained in sword and shield, as well as other fighting styles from an early age. Her mother also taught her other skills like horseback riding and hang gliding which did not seem to make much sense to the young Amy. On top of that she was taught a lot about the properties of crystals. Until her seventeenth birthday, Amy had no idea about her true identity or her mother's. When she turned seventeen she returned to Gem World for the first time and began her struggle to learn her place as a princess and heir to House Amethyst and helping Earth, the place she grew up.
|Description=
|Personality=Amy grew up feeling like the odd one out. Despite feeling isolated and strange as a child she is kind where it counts and knows she can rely on herself. She can be so stubborn, she has a belief that she is right, and that can make her difficult to work with at times but her heart is true. Learning she is a princess in another world has taken some adjustment for her, but despite the rather massive family secret, she has continued to follow what she thinks is the right choice and brave the battles and responsibilities thrust upon her.

Standing 5'8" in height, this young woman stands above average height, and looks to be either in her late teens or early twenties. Beyond those simple facts, though, it gets a little weird. She's...well, she's a fairy-tale princess, more or less. Warrior princess, to be specific. Her hair is a golden blonde, emphasis on the golden; a rich gold hue that normally would have to come out of a bottle, falling in full and lustrous waves down to her waist. Her eyes, on the other hand, are a light purple. And no, no sign of contact lenses, she just has purple eyes. Her skin is flawless, her figure both curved in the right places and toned and athletic otherwise. All in all, just too good to be true.<br><br>She's dressed today in her "superhero attire", such as it is. No spandex in sight; and her attire actually includes pants. Well, leggings, at least. Form-fitting leggings of a bluish purple rise up to an asymmetrical tanktop; the left sleeve exists, but the right arm is bare, save for a golden armband, and a golden armored bracer covering almost her entire right forearm. Boots in lavender with folded cuffs at the top and golden trim cover her feet, and a golden belt in a descending v-shape rings her waist; high on her hips before dipping down in front. Translucent amethyst silk drapes from the belt, creating a sort of hint of a skirt, while matching silk flows from her shoulder straps to create the semblance of a cape in the same way. Both skirt and cape seem to move about heedless of wind from time to time, as if reflecting her mood. An armored golden epaulette covers her left shoulder, and a wide golden bracelet covers her left wrist. A hardened leather breastplate covers her upper chest, with golden trim at the bottom, and a golden, spread-wing design on the front. A golden tiara inset with an amethyst rests on her forehead. Last, but not least, is a slightly curved sword with a backwards-facing hook on it, and a golden basket hilt.
The power of the House Amethyst bloodline bestows great (for a human) Strength, Toughness, and Dexterity. Amethyst maintains this level of fitness without the need for training.

On the world of Gemworld, deep within the Dreaming, magic is a part of the land and a part of the people. The inhabitants of Gemworld are ruled over by twelve Great Houses, and each house ruled by a great Lord or Lady of that house; the equivalent of a queen. The magic and power of these Lords is passed on to those of their bloodline who are pure-blooded enough, and have the right genetic traits, to receive it.<br><br>Some time ago, the Lord of House Amethyst passed, and his blood power passed to his two daughters, Mordiel and Graciel. Graciel was kind and wise, but Mordiel was hungry for power. She sought a way to kill her sister so that she could inherit her half of the power, whereas Graciel fell in love and wed Lord Vyrian of House Turquoise. And soon after, Vyrian and Graciel had a child, Amaya.<br><br>And this started the trouble. You see, Mordiel was barren. She would not have children. The only way for her to maintain power would be to kill both Graciel and her daughter. And knowing this, Graciel chose to take the wise choice...she used ancient magic to open a portal back to First Home, the ancestral home of the residents of Gemworld. We call it Earth.<br><br>----<br><br>For the next seventeen years, Graciel raised her daughter Amaya as "Amy Winston", a normal Earth girl. Well, a normal Earth girl, if your mom moved you around the country every year or so, and was weird and controlling, and taught you almost every day how to fight with sword, shield, and other fantasy bullshit. And insisted you dye your hair, so you rebelled against all this by dying it all kind of different colors and everyone thought you were weird. Oh, and never, ever, ever told you anything about your father.<br><br>The one home of things was the promise. The promise that on your seventeenth birthday, she'd take you back home. Whereever home really is. And that you'd learn about your father, finally. And then it comes. The day. Except that your mom takes you out in the woods. And there's a magic crystal. And it's REAL. And it opens a portal, and you go through it.<br><br>And suddenly, you're on the other side. And Barbie-blonde. And all around you are people with armor, and swords, and killing one another. And all of them speaking something you can't understand. And your mom, the weirdo, suddenly has a sword and armor, and is fighting back, and using weird magic superpowers.<br><br>----<br><br>And that was how Princess Amaya learned who she really was. And went to Gemworld. In the next while, there was a lot of action. Amaya's mom and sister were both killed by an ancient villain of Gemworld, and she inherited the full blood-power of the House, becoming Lady Amethyst, Ruler of House Amethyst.<br><br>Since that time, she's learned more and more about how to use her powers. She's split her time, some of it in Gemworld, and some of it back here on Earth. She's worked with various heroes, made friends and made enemies. And come to terms with the initial weirdness of being a Magical Fantasy Princess From Another World.
Amethyst has been enchanted with the power to comprehend all languages. She hears all speech as if it were English and speaks other languages without realizing it.

Amaya started off as as a rebellious teen girl from Earth, and it shows. In a world ruled by tradition and ancient customs, she's the kind of person who questions and asks why, and isn't afraid to call stupid things out for being stupid.<br><br>On the other hand, her mother raised her to have an extremely solid moral framework. To be a proper /hero/. She once made the comment that no matter what, Amaya can be commented on to do the right thing, She may be new to being a princess, and new to being a heroine, and that's led her to make some mistakes, be taken advantage of, and be a little naive.<br><br>Since that time, Amaya's gotten a little smarter, a little wiser, and a little less naive. She's still optimistic, still believes in the best in people, and has matured out into a true hero. Who just happens to be a Fantasy Princess.
Amethyst is a cosmic being and will cease to age once she reaches full adulthood. Her position as a Lord of Order means that she is extremely difficult to destroy as long as there is some source of order in the universe. Amethyst's physical body can be conventionally killed. As she does not fully understand her cosmic nature, a mortal death still concerns her.

Each of the twelve Great Houses of Gemworld has their own inherent magical power. The ruler (known as either Lord or Lady <House Name>. This power is passed on, upon the death of the wielder, or their conscious, willful choice, passing to their heir. If there is no heir, the power will seek out the strongest genetic connection to the house's rulership, no matter how small, as long as the person is at least seventeen years old.<br><br>In the case of House Amethyst, there are three different powers that the blood-power conveys. Each of these powers is written up separately, as "BP: <Power>".<br><br>
Amethyst is a Lord of Order, a magical being opposed to the Lords of Chaos. She can innately sense other Lords of Order and Chaos and they can sense her. Her touch causes pain to Lords of Chaos and her presence causes discomfort. Amethyst inherited this title from her father, who committed a lawbreaking act in siring her. Because of this, she is estranged from the other Lords of Order and has no means of contacting them.

<BR><BR>
<br>
<span style="color: #7851A9">'''MAGIC'''</span>
Another of the powers that comes through House Amethyst's blood power is the ability to make "hard light" constructs, not dissimilar to those of a Green Lantern, save that they are amethyst in color, and their "material" is more crystalline. Amaya's constructs are somewhat more limited than those of some Lanterns; she can create things that are simple forms (and tends to swords, shields, and the like), but she can't construct "machines" and the like (no machine gun constructs or anything like that).<br><br>Unlike a Lantern, whose constructs tend to rely on the durability of their ring's charge or their willpower, Amaya's is very much a "cast from hit points" sort of situation; creating a construct takes very little effort for her, but maintaining them under stress drains her energy. She can pass out or even self-injure by trying to maintain them if they are under too much stress.<br><br>
<BR>
<span style="color:#8a14ff">'''Bp: Magical Catalyst:'''</span>
Amethyst is capable of casting magical spells. While the applications of her spell casting are limitless, Amethyst has only recently begun study and tends toward basic effects when under pressure. She is capable of more complex and subtle spells when given time or when under proper guidance. This rating more reflects raw talent and not actual experience.
<br>
<BR><BR>
The most important ability of House Amethyst's blood-power, Amaya's touch acts as a primer of magical items. On Gemworld, she uses this to change normal gemstones so they become ready for enchantment by the powers of the other great houses. (Needless to say, as a result, House Amethyst is rather essential to the society of Gemworld, and Amaya tends to have a good collection of magical gems she's collected in payment for the price of priming others. Sort of a "pay one, prime five" kind of deal.)<br><br>While this is the most common use of her power, it is far more versatile than that. Amaya's touch (or in some cases, her blood) can activate latent magical powers in others, or serve as a universal "wildcard" for necessary magical components, standing in for any other component necessary. Similarly, she can make magical activities easier to perform, faster to perform, or less costly to perform.<br><br>
Self Powered-Amethyst is an inherently magical being, both as a denizen of Gemworld and as a Lord of Order. Her spells are powered by her own considerable life force. Though Amethyst does not have to worry about "running out" of magic in any practical sense, her spells are an extension of herself. Destroying a shield that Amethyst is maintaining will cause her pain.

Somatic-The Gemworld magic that Amethyst practices uses arcane gestures. Without the use of her hands, Amethyst's magical training is useless.
One of the blessings of House Amethyst's blood-power is increased physicality. Specifically, increased strength, agility, and toughness. All of these are ramped up to just above the normal limits of human capability. This makes Amaya as fast and agile as the best Olympic athlete, slightly stronger than the strongest weightlifter, and able to take more of a pummeling than a prize-fighting boxer.<br><br>This is all just an innate package; she maintains it regardless of any exercise, or lack thereof. It's just there, part of her magic. Being better-than-normal-people.<br><br>

One of the first things that Amaya did upon arriving in Gemworld was to be exposed to the Citrine of Tongues, a magical gem of House Citrine that grants those who touch it command of all languages. Simply put, Amaya is essentially under a permanent magical spell that allows her to speak, understand, read, and write all languages.
Amethyst is a potent magical catalyst, supposedly the "ultimate." Her touch can lower magical activation costs, making magical feats easier to accomplish and accelerating magical processes. Amethyst serves as a catalyst whether she wants to or not, meaning it is possible for others to use this ability against her will. Amethyst does not fully understand her capabilities in this regard and there is no information to guide her, so it's not something she can count on. That is, this ability works only under consent and extraordinary uses of it require plot approval.

Amethyst has been athletic all her life, trained in ways that serve her well in a less technological land: horseback riding, mountain climbing, wilderness survival, and so on. This reflects both athletic abilities and learned skills that Amethyst has developed to live in a land of swords and sorcery.
Amy was raised by her mother with the knowledge that when she turned seventeen, she was going to have to go back to Gemworld and fight a war to retake what was theirs and protect herself from her evil aunt. She's shockingly well-trained in unarmed combat and most forms of medieval weaponry; swords, shields, bows, maces, and the like. Much of this is augmented by her blood-power, which takes her up to the human maximum of strength, endurance, and agility, putting her on basic super-soldier levels of proficiency. (Basic is the key word here; someone like Captain America would clean her clock without even breathing hard.)<br><br>

Since becoming Lady Amethyst of House Amethyst, leader of one of the Twelve Great Houses and one of the most important queens of Gemworld, Amaya's been dropped into the deep end of the political pool. She's had to handle a fantasy political scene that makes Game of Thrones look subtle, and make alliances, cut deals, and otherwise work for the best interest of her House and her People, as well as Gemworld as a whole. It's forced her to get pretty politically savvy, as well as learn the ins and out of high society.<br><br>
Amethyst has trained in armed and unarmed combat since she was young. The source of her martial education has left her unfamiliar with anything more technological than swords and bows. Amethyst is adept in using her magic in concert with this, meaning that archaic weapons are often good enough.

Amy Winston was born and raised on Earth as a teenage girl till she was age seventeen. As such, she has all the basic education and cultural education one would expect from an American teenage girl raised in the 2010's. A basic high school education, knowledge of popular music and media, all the essentials. She's no more versed in this than any other average teenager, but at least she can be more up to speed on slang and culture than an alien or something.<br><br>
Amethyst has access to a variety of artifacts through her resources in Gemworld. Previous incidents (unrelated to her) have made Amethyst's mentors and advisors wary of significantly powerful items leaving Gemworld. Commonly, this means "safe" items such as gems imbued with single use spells.
<span style="color:#00CED1">'''Magic:'''</span>

<span style="color: #7851A9">'''RULER'''</span>
Gemworld operates on magic, and the nobles of that world have magic as part of their very blood. What's more, Amaya's power as the Catalyst means that, in theory, she can use magic far more easily than most could for the same level of effect. While Gemworld works on innate magic, rather than "spellcasting" magic, Amaya's spent time studying with the heroic spellcasters of Earth for the last three years. She still hasn't quite gotten this to the point that she can just "free cast" spells, but if she has access to magical grimoires, scrolls, wands, or the like, she can activate them or cast from them. She doesn't have any of her own, though, other than the magical gemstones she commonly carries.<br><br>

<span style="color:#00CED1">'''Riding:'''</span>
On the plane of Gemworld, Amethyst rules a small nation and commands the fealty of several others. This affords vast resources, though there is no easy way to bring them to Earth. As Gemworld was settled by magic users and fairy creatures who fled Earth, most want nothing to do with "the First World" and do not want to draw attention to their new home. The nation-houses that Amethyst controls are militarized and experienced, but their first duty is guarding against rival houses. The combined knowledge of the loyal houses represent a comprehensive library of spells and magical history stretching back to ancient times.
<br>
<BR><BR>
Amaya is a very skilled rider of vyala, the flying lion-bird mounts of Gemworld. While that's different from riding other animals, a lot of the basics do carry over. She could ride most any flying or ground animal if she needed to under normal circumstances, with a decent level of proficiency.<br><br>

Amethyst's amulet is imbued with a transformation spell that allows her to alter her clothing. She has enchanted it with the ability to open portals between Earth and Gemworld. Though the amulet is magically keyed to Amethyst, any magic user who wears it may use its powers. As its owner, Amethyst can control it from afar. The clothing created by the amulet is made of "mist-silk," a weightless fabric that is intangible except when willed otherwise by Amethyst. This is mostly subconscious, so in practice it won't be destroyed during battle but still keeps the elements out.
Almost literally from her first moment in Gemworld, Amaya's been fighting battles, and many of them have involved being at the head of many of her House's forces. It's forced her to get good not only at personal combat, but also at the tactics of leading people in combat. There are certainly those better; experience counts, after all...but she has a good head for it, and several years of practical experience.

<span style="color:#228B22">'''Crystal: Amethyst:'''</span>
Amethyst grew up running from her problems. Most of them were legal in nature. She has a deep mistrust for anyone with prosecuting authority. She's uneasy around such people even when she hasn't done anything wrong.
<br>
<BR><BR>
Also known as Portal Crystals. After a lengthy ritual to calibrate, these reusable crystals open a gateway from one dimension to another that Amaya can open and close at will. Each crystal comes in a paired set; when the gateway is opened, it opens from whereever one crystal is to whereever the other crystal is. Amaya carries one on her person at all times (with the other end opening to a secure location at House Amethyst), and always keeps a backup hidden somewhere on Earth in case something happens to the original.<br><br>
<span style="color: #7851A9">'''LORDS OF CHAOS'''</span>
<span style="color:#228B22">'''Crystal: Aquamarine:'''</span>
<BR>
<br>
Amethyst is a sworn enemy of the Lords of Chaos whether she wants to be or not. She poses a threat to Chaos and its followers by simply existing. No matter what she does, Amethyst will be in danger as long as Order and Chaos are in opposition.
Enchanted Aquamarines carry power over water. Specifically, they allow one to transform ice to water, or water to permanently (magically) frozen ice. An Aquamarine can affect an amount of water or ice roughly equivalent to a normal two-story building before being depleted. (Obviously, that is in total; using on smaller amounts will extend the time before the stone is depleted.) Amaya normally carries a single enchanted Aquamarine.<br><br>
<BR><BR>
<span style="color:#228B22">'''Crystal: Citrine:'''</span>
<span style="color: #7851A9">'''STAGNATION'''</span>
<br>
<BR>
Enchanted Citrines can have information recorded into them via a magical ritual. Once recorded, the citrine can play back its data as many times as needed, allowing the holder to see or hear the information, OR it can be used to transfer a skill into the bearer, in which case the crystal only functions once. Amaya generally carries one (unformatted) crystal, in case she needs to record data.<br><br>
As a Lord of Order, Amethyst is predisposed to stagnation. She has great difficulty believing any way other than her own is correct. This is beyond mundane arrogance or inflexibility; it is a fundamental part of her being that is difficult to reason through. She will initially defer to others on subjects she is unfamiliar with, but inevitably forms strong opinions of her own. Amethyst is uniquely human amongst the Lords of Order, saving her from total immutability.
<span style="color:#228B22">'''Crystal: Diamond:'''</span>
<br>
Enchanted Diamonds carry the strength of their stone. They can render a bearer resistant to damage. The duration of this protection depends on the damage "absorbed" by the stone...stopping small-arms fire might allow the stone to function up to a half hour, whereas stopping a full-power attack from a top-tier superbeing (like a punch from Superman or Thor) is probably going to get you protection from a /single/ attack. Amaya usually carries two diamonds on her person.<br><br>
<span style="color:#228B22">'''Crystal: Emerald:'''</span>
<br>
Emerald crystals force spontaneous plant growth, or regrowth. An emerald can restore a damaged plant as large as a tree to full health (or several smaller plants), or can force plants to grow beyond their normal size into an overgrown tangle. This growth can occur quickly enough to entangle people in the area of the plants. Amaya generally carries one enchanted Emerald with her.<br><br>
<span style="color:#228B22">'''Crystal: Garnet:'''</span>
<br>
As an Enchanted Ruby is to the body, an Enchanted Garnet is to the mind. It heals mental trauma or psychic damage. Psychic trauma that would usually be fatal can be reduced to "really badly hurt but going to live", whereas lesser trauma can be healed more than once without exhausting the stone. Used on mental illnesses or the like, the stone can generally remove a single issue, such as a phobia or psychosis, though this could remanifest later normally. Amaya usually carries a single enchanted Garnet.<br><br>
<span style="color:#228B22">'''Crystal: Moonstone:'''</span>
<br>
Enchanted Moonstones allow for enhanced perception. Someone holding one can see invisible entities, as well as spiritual or astral forms that might be within line of sight. The stone will last until the magic is canceled or negated, and as such, Amaya only carries a single moonstone.<br><br>
<span style="color:#228B22">'''Crystal: Onyx:'''</span>
<br>
An enchanted onyx acts to cancel magic. Essentially, expending the power of an Onyx allows the bearer to cancel one spell already in effect, or to parry an incoming attack spell with it. Used against a magical item, this can suppress the power of the item to a degree based on its power; something like a simple potion might be rendered permanently non-magical, where a powerful relic or artifact might only be suppressed a few seconds. Similarly, used against a magical person or caster, it can temporarily disrupt their magical abilities. Again, this is a matter of degrees of power; someone like a Sorcerer Supreme would likely be disrupted no more than a second, whereas a minor hedge witch might lose her powers for several minutes. Amaya usually carries two Onyxes on her person.<br><br>
<span style="color:#228B22">'''Crystal: Ruby:'''</span>
<br>
Enchanted rubies are healing crystals. The average size crystal that Amaya carries is enough to stabilize a person from a fatal wound to "still seriously wounded, but will live", or to heal a serious wound, or a number of minor wounds. Amaya generally carries two of these healing rubies on her person at any given time. Larger crystals, such as those kept in Gemworld, can even restore lost organs or limbs if need be, but such crystals are generally not easily portable.<br><br>
<span style="color:#228B22">'''Crystal: Sapphire:'''</span>
<br>
Enchanted Sapphires convey the power of flight on the bearer. Someone holding the stone can fly at speeds up to 100 miles an hour. The stone lasts for no more than 6 hours of flight, though this is a total and can be broken into smaller increments. Amaya generally carries two Sapphires on her person.<br><br>
<span style="color:#228B22">'''Crystal: Topaz:'''</span>
<br>
Enchanted Topazes shed light. These can be used as an effective light source, in which case the magic will last for years, or can discharge their light in a massive flare, like a magical flashbang (without the bang). Used in this fashion, a topaz generally can be used six times. Amaya generally carries two topazes on her person.<br><br>
<span style="color:#228B22">'''Crystal: Turquoise:'''</span>
<br>
Enchanted Turquoises can be used for one of two purposes. Such a stone can perform illusion, or transformation. The trick of them is that each stone can only be used for one purpose, and that purpose must be chosen when the stone is enchanted. So if one wants one to create an illusion of a dragon, it has to be created for that. If one wants one to turn lead to gold, it has to be created for that. The stones are generally only usable once (for transformation) or a few times (for illusion). Because they have to be so specifically enchanted, and because it takes someone of Turquoise Blood-Power to enchant them, Amaya generally carries none of these (other than her Amulet, which has somewhat more flexible powers, and is written up as its own item). In theory, she could make use of these, but it would take a lot of effort (read that as: other player consent and quite possibly staff approval, depending on what needs doing).<br><br>
<span style="color:#228B22">'''Gemworld:'''</span>
<br>
Amaya is "Lady Amethyst of House Amethyst", the queen of one of the twelve Great Houses of Gemworld. In fact, not just any house, but the most influential and powerful of the houses. She has all the resources that come with being the queen of a magical fantasy kingdom. She has literal armies at her disposal of well-trained fantasy warriors. She has herds of vyala (flying lion-birds), she has ridiculous amounts of gold and gems at her disposal (especially being as GEMworld has gems in surplus), and she has several lifetimes worth of magical crystals given to her house in tribute and trade (this would be the Magical Crystals entry elsewhere in Resources). Getting access to these resources requires using portal crystals, but it's not like she doesn't have those (and all the other magical crystals) in spades.<br><br>
<span style="color:#228B22">'''Magical Crystals:'''</span>
<br>
One of the blood-powers of House Amethyst allows Amaya to prepare normal gemstones so that the houses can infuse them with magic. Profile

Amy Winston was raised as an outcast and a rebel, feeling like she never fit in. And it turned out there was a good reason for that. Description:

All in all, just too good to be true.

She's dressed today in her "superhero attire", such as it is.

History

History:

On the world of Gemworld, deep within the Dreaming, magic is a part of the land and a part of the people. The inhabitants of Gemworld are ruled over by twelve Great Houses, and each house ruled by a great Lord or Lady of that house; the equivalent of a queen. The magic and power of these Lords is passed on to those of their bloodline who are pure-blooded enough, and have the right genetic traits, to receive it.

Some time ago, the Lord of House Amethyst passed, and his blood power passed to his two daughters, Mordiel and Graciel. Graciel was kind and wise, but Mordiel was hungry for power. She sought a way to kill her sister so that she could inherit her half of the power, whereas Graciel fell in love and wed Lord Vyrian of House Turquoise. And soon after, Vyrian and Graciel had a child, Amaya.

And this started the trouble. We call it Earth.

----

For the next seventeen years, Graciel raised her daughter Amaya as "Amy Winston", a normal Earth girl. Oh, and never, ever, ever told you anything about your father.

The one home of things was the promise. The promise that on your seventeenth birthday, she'd take you back home. Whereever home really is. And that you'd learn about your father, finally. And then it comes. The day. Except that your mom takes you out in the woods. And there's a magic crystal. And it's REAL. And it opens a portal, and you go through it.

And suddenly, you're on the other side. And Barbie-blonde. And all around you are people with armor, and swords, and killing one another. And all of them speaking something you can't understand. And your mom, the weirdo, suddenly has a sword and armor, and is fighting back, and using weird magic superpowers.

----

And that was how Princess Amaya learned who she really was. And went to Gemworld. In the next while, there was a lot of action. Amaya's mom and sister were both killed by an ancient villain of Gemworld, and she inherited the full blood-power of the House, becoming Lady Amethyst, Ruler of House Amethyst.

Since that time, she's learned more and more about how to use her powers. She's split her time, some of it in Gemworld, and some of it back here on Earth. She's worked with various heroes, made friends and made enemies. And come to terms with the initial weirdness of being a Magical Fantasy Princess From Another World.

Personality

Click to expand.

Personality:

Amaya started off as as a rebellious teen girl from Earth, and it shows. In a world ruled by tradition and ancient customs, she's the kind of person who questions and asks why, and isn't afraid to call stupid things out for being stupid.

On the other hand, her mother raised her to have an extremely solid moral framework. To be a proper /hero/. She once made the comment that no matter what, Amaya can be commented on to do the right thing, She may be new to being a princess, and new to being a heroine, and that's led her to make some mistakes, be taken advantage of, and be a little naive.

Since that time, Amaya's gotten a little smarter, a little wiser, and a little less naive. She's still optimistic, still believes in the best in people, and has matured out into a true hero. Who just happens to be a Fantasy Princess.

Abilities

Click to expand.

Blood-Power:
Each of the twelve Great Houses of Gemworld has their own inherent magical power. The ruler (known as either Lord or Lady <House Name>. This power is passed on, upon the death of the wielder, or their conscious, willful choice, passing to their heir. If there is no heir, the power will seek out the strongest genetic connection to the house's rulership, no matter how small, as long as the person is at least seventeen years old.

In the case of House Amethyst, there are three different powers that the blood-power conveys. Each of these powers is written up separately, as "BP: <Power>".

Bp: Hard-Light Crystals:
Another of the powers that comes through House Amethyst's blood power is the ability to make "hard light" constructs, not dissimilar to those of a Green Lantern, save that they are amethyst in color, and their "material" is more crystalline. Amaya's constructs are somewhat more limited than those of some Lanterns; she can create things that are simple forms (and tends to swords, shields, and the like), but she can't construct "machines" and the like (no machine gun constructs or anything like that).

Unlike a Lantern, whose constructs tend to rely on the durability of their ring's charge or their willpower, Amaya's is very much a "cast from hit points" sort of situation; creating a construct takes very little effort for her, but maintaining them under stress drains her energy. She can pass out or even self-injure by trying to maintain them if they are under too much stress.

Bp: Magical Catalyst:
The most important ability of House Amethyst's blood-power, Amaya's touch acts as a primer of magical items. On Gemworld, she uses this to change normal gemstones so they become ready for enchantment by the powers of the other great houses. (Needless to say, as a result, House Amethyst is rather essential to the society of Gemworld, and Amaya tends to have a good collection of magical gems she's collected in payment for the price of priming others. Sort of a "pay one, prime five" kind of deal.)

While this is the most common use of her power, it is far more versatile than that. Amaya's touch (or in some cases, her blood) can activate latent magical powers in others, or serve as a universal "wildcard" for necessary magical components, standing in for any other component necessary. Similarly, she can make magical activities easier to perform, faster to perform, or less costly to perform.

Bp: Physicality:
One of the blessings of House Amethyst's blood-power is increased physicality. Specifically, increased strength, agility, and toughness. All of these are ramped up to just above the normal limits of human capability. This makes Amaya as fast and agile as the best Olympic athlete, slightly stronger than the strongest weightlifter, and able to take more of a pummeling than a prize-fighting boxer.

This is all just an innate package; she maintains it regardless of any exercise, or lack thereof. It's just there, part of her magic. Being better-than-normal-people.

Command of Tongues:

One of the first things that Amaya did upon arriving in Gemworld was to be exposed to the Citrine of Tongues, a magical gem of House Citrine that grants those who touch it command of all languages. Simply put, Amaya is essentially under a permanent magical spell that allows her to speak, understand, read, and write all languages.

Skills

Click to expand.

Combat Training:
Amy was raised by her mother with the knowledge that when she turned seventeen, she was going to have to go back to Gemworld and fight a war to retake what was theirs and protect herself from her evil aunt. She's shockingly well-trained in unarmed combat and most forms of medieval weaponry; swords, shields, bows, maces, and the like. Much of this is augmented by her blood-power, which takes her up to the human maximum of strength, endurance, and agility, putting her on basic super-soldier levels of proficiency. (Basic is the key word here; someone like Captain America would clean her clock without even breathing hard.)

Etiquette & Politics:
Since becoming Lady Amethyst of House Amethyst, leader of one of the Twelve Great Houses and one of the most important queens of Gemworld, Amaya's been dropped into the deep end of the political pool. She's had to handle a fantasy political scene that makes Game of Thrones look subtle, and make alliances, cut deals, and otherwise work for the best interest of her House and her People, as well as Gemworld as a whole. It's forced her to get pretty politically savvy, as well as learn the ins and out of high society.

Fundamentals:
Amy Winston was born and raised on Earth as a teenage girl till she was age seventeen. As such, she has all the basic education and cultural education one would expect from an American teenage girl raised in the 2010's. A basic high school education, knowledge of popular music and media, all the essentials. She's no more versed in this than any other average teenager, but at least she can be more up to speed on slang and culture than an alien or something.

Magic:
Gemworld operates on magic, and the nobles of that world have magic as part of their very blood. What's more, Amaya's power as the Catalyst means that, in theory, she can use magic far more easily than most could for the same level of effect. While Gemworld works on innate magic, rather than "spellcasting" magic, Amaya's spent time studying with the heroic spellcasters of Earth for the last three years. She still hasn't quite gotten this to the point that she can just "free cast" spells, but if she has access to magical grimoires, scrolls, wands, or the like, she can activate them or cast from them. She doesn't have any of her own, though, other than the magical gemstones she commonly carries.

Riding:
Amaya is a very skilled rider of vyala, the flying lion-bird mounts of Gemworld. While that's different from riding other animals, a lot of the basics do carry over. She could ride most any flying or ground animal if she needed to under normal circumstances, with a decent level of proficiency.

Tactics:

Almost literally from her first moment in Gemworld, Amaya's been fighting battles, and many of them have involved being at the head of many of her House's forces. It's forced her to get good not only at personal combat, but also at the tactics of leading people in combat. There are certainly those better; experience counts, after all...but she has a good head for it, and several years of practical experience.

Resources

Click to expand.

Crystal: Amethyst:
Also known as Portal Crystals. After a lengthy ritual to calibrate, these reusable crystals open a gateway from one dimension to another that Amaya can open and close at will. Each crystal comes in a paired set; when the gateway is opened, it opens from whereever one crystal is to whereever the other crystal is. Amaya carries one on her person at all times (with the other end opening to a secure location at House Amethyst), and always keeps a backup hidden somewhere on Earth in case something happens to the original.

Crystal: Aquamarine:
Enchanted Aquamarines carry power over water. Specifically, they allow one to transform ice to water, or water to permanently (magically) frozen ice. An Aquamarine can affect an amount of water or ice roughly equivalent to a normal two-story building before being depleted. (Obviously, that is in total; using on smaller amounts will extend the time before the stone is depleted.) Amaya normally carries a single enchanted Aquamarine.

Crystal: Citrine:
Enchanted Citrines can have information recorded into them via a magical ritual. Once recorded, the citrine can play back its data as many times as needed, allowing the holder to see or hear the information, OR it can be used to transfer a skill into the bearer, in which case the crystal only functions once. Amaya generally carries one (unformatted) crystal, in case she needs to record data.

Crystal: Diamond:
Enchanted Diamonds carry the strength of their stone. They can render a bearer resistant to damage. The duration of this protection depends on the damage "absorbed" by the stone...stopping small-arms fire might allow the stone to function up to a half hour, whereas stopping a full-power attack from a top-tier superbeing (like a punch from Superman or Thor) is probably going to get you protection from a /single/ attack. Amaya usually carries two diamonds on her person.

Crystal: Emerald:
Emerald crystals force spontaneous plant growth, or regrowth. An emerald can restore a damaged plant as large as a tree to full health (or several smaller plants), or can force plants to grow beyond their normal size into an overgrown tangle. This growth can occur quickly enough to entangle people in the area of the plants. Amaya generally carries one enchanted Emerald with her.

Crystal: Garnet:
As an Enchanted Ruby is to the body, an Enchanted Garnet is to the mind. It heals mental trauma or psychic damage. Psychic trauma that would usually be fatal can be reduced to "really badly hurt but going to live", whereas lesser trauma can be healed more than once without exhausting the stone. Used on mental illnesses or the like, the stone can generally remove a single issue, such as a phobia or psychosis, though this could remanifest later normally. Amaya usually carries a single enchanted Garnet.

Crystal: Moonstone:
Enchanted Moonstones allow for enhanced perception. Someone holding one can see invisible entities, as well as spiritual or astral forms that might be within line of sight. The stone will last until the magic is canceled or negated, and as such, Amaya only carries a single moonstone.

Crystal: Onyx:
Amaya usually carries two Onyxes on her person.

Crystal: Ruby:
Enchanted rubies are healing crystals. The average size crystal that Amaya carries is enough to stabilize a person from a fatal wound to "still seriously wounded, but will live", or to heal a serious wound, or a number of minor wounds. Amaya generally carries two of these healing rubies on her person at any given time. Larger crystals, such as those kept in Gemworld, can even restore lost organs or limbs if need be, but such crystals are generally not easily portable.

Crystal: Sapphire:
Enchanted Sapphires convey the power of flight on the bearer. Someone holding the stone can fly at speeds up to 100 miles an hour. The stone lasts for no more than 6 hours of flight, though this is a total and can be broken into smaller increments. Amaya generally carries two Sapphires on her person.

Crystal: Topaz:
Enchanted Topazes shed light. These can be used as an effective light source, in which case the magic will last for years, or can discharge their light in a massive flare, like a magical flashbang (without the bang). Used in this fashion, a topaz generally can be used six times. Amaya generally carries two topazes on her person.

Crystal: Turquoise:
In theory, she could make use of these, but it would take a lot of effort (read that as: other player consent and quite possibly staff approval, depending on what needs doing).

Gemworld:
Getting access to these resources requires using portal crystals, but it's not like she doesn't have those (and all the other magical crystals) in spades.

Magical Crystals:
One of the blood-powers of House Amethyst allows Amaya to prepare normal gemstones so that the houses can infuse them with magic. (Not dissimilar to formatting a computer drive to make it ready to receive data; she formats a crystal to make it ready to receive magic.)

Since every other House relies on this power of House Amethyst to have crystals they can use to make use of their power, House Amethyst has received thousands of these crystals over the years. Amaya usually carries no more than a few of these, but if she goes back to Gemworld, she can usually get as many as she needs for any given purpose. The crystals, their effects, and how many Amaya usually keeps, are listed in her Resources individually.

Magical Sword:
Amaya has a magical sword, part of her heroic ensemble. This slightly curved sword has a hook shape on the back side of the blade, and is enchanted to be more durable than normal steel, as well as remaining perpetually sharp. Beyond that, the blade's primary magic is in "being magical"; i.e., it counts as magic for things that require magic to hurt, and things like that.

Mist-Silk:
Amaya's "skirt" and "cape" are both made of mist-silk, a magical material from Gemworld. It essentially has an existence only at Amaya's will; it's intangible to anyone unless she wishes it to be solid, at which point it can be solid only for her, solid only for others, or solid to anyone. She can also move the fabric with her will, giving her the ability to use it to help deflect, strike, or grab and grapple at other targets as she wishes. The "strength" of the fabric is no greater than that of a normal human, and the tensile strength no greater than that of silk (though silk can be pretty strong as a fabric), but it's a nice additional edge.

Turquoise Amulet:
Amaya's father was of house Turquoise, whose blood-power lie in transformation. He made an amulet for Amaya, which she still has. It allows her to transform her attire any way she likes. Amaya primarily uses it to handle transforming to and from her secret identity, transforming normal Earth attire into her costume as Lady Amethyst. Note that by using this amulet, even the magical equipment she possesses simply relocates into a pocket dimensional space within the amulet, reappearing when she assumes her identity as Lady Amethyst. She cannot transform her body with this amulet, but she can take on any outfit she can imagine.

Vyala:

Vyala are a native species to Gemworld. These roughly horse-sized creatures are basically leonine, save for being covered with feathers and having great feathered wings. They are used as both mounts and aerial cavalry on Gemworld. Amaya keeps one here on Earth to act as her mount, though obviously if anything should happen to her vyala, it would require a trip back to Gemworld to obtain another.

Weaknesses

Click to expand.

Blood-Power Marks:
Those strong in the power demonstrate visible marks that cannot be hidden. In Amaya's case, this is golden blonde hair, and amethyst purple eyes. No matter what she would do to hide or disguise herself, these traits cannot be hidden. Illusion or holograms will not cover them, contacts will turn transparent, hair dye will refuse to take. It is a mark of her heritage and marks her forever.

Dimensionally Separated:
Amaya is a fantasy magic princess of another dimension. The problem is, her only means of transit there involves a physical crystal that can be destroyed or taken from her. Because the crystals are created in linked pairs, and one of the pairs has to be in Gemworld, she can be effectively stranded on Earth if something happens to the portal crystals, until or unless she can find someone to get her back to Gemworld.

Limited Supplies:
Amaya's magical crystals may be effectively infinite...IF she has access to Gemworld. But she usually carries a dozen or less on her person here on Earth. This means that if she can't make it back to Gemworld to "refill" her supply of magical stones, she can run out of uses for her crystals, seriously reducing her overall versatility.

Magical Uncertainty:
On Gemworld, it's considered "common knowledge" that the mixing of House Amethyst and House Turquoise blood is considered to be unwise, as it can lead to unpredictable magics. Know who's a mix of those? Amaya. This isn't something that she has to worry about most of the time, but sometimes magics just...go strange when reacting her, producing unintended effects.

Open Use:
Amaya's magical crystals comprise a great deal of her abilities. However, once these crystals are enchanted, anyone who has them can make use of the magical crystals. This means that Amaya's crystals can be disarmed, or stolen, and then used against her or her allies and she has no means to prevent this (other than getting the crystals back).

Poor Reputation:
Amaya, Lady Amethyst of House Amethyst, may be one of the most powerful and respected leaders on Gemworld. But Amy Winston, her Earthly identity, has a record of frequently moving, being a delinquent and rebel here on Earth. She also up and disappeared as of her seventeenth birthday, so that's not going to make the authorities any more trusting.

The Schemes of Houses:

House Amethyst is the most powerful and influential of the Great Houses. But there are eleven others, and their dynamics make Game of Thrones look like a kiddie play. She has to be wary of schemes and assassins of the other Houses, all of which can attack her holdings on Gemworld. And if she's here on Earth, she has no way of even know it's happened until her next trip home.
