Profile

Impulse is a new speedster that has appeared in New York, wearing a suit reminiscent of both The Flash, and Kid Flash, not much is known about the young speedster that goes by the name of Impulse. He's young, and like his name impulsive, but all in all has a good heart and is here to try and do good.

Description:

What lies before you has... an exceptionally difficult time staying still. Wiry with a small build, bright, yellowish hazel eyes, fair skin, and an unruly band of short-medium auburn hair, there's nothing particularly notable about his appearance. In fact, he looks a fairly normal youth, no older than within his early teenage years. As such, the fast and almost tic-like speed of his actions should come as no surprise, right? After all, he's just a kid.

Currently, he's clad in a red hoodie with a pair of disconnected yellow stripes just at the chest and under each arm. He's wearing a casual but fairly slim-fit blue jeans and brown shoes. Hanging from the front stomach-pocket of his hoodie is a pair of what appear to be aviator goggles, possibly reflective of the strange fashion statements of the day.

But in spite of his casual attire, there's no denying that his mannerisms have him moving suspiciously quickly. Maybe he's just nervous?

History

History:

The product of a forbidden love between two rival clans of speedsters and A reckless amount of time travel, Bartholomew "Bart" Allen II is the grandson of Barry Allen, the second flash. A speedster by heritage, Bart was born with a connection to the speed force which caused a rapid acceleration of his physical development and growth. This caused him to be raised in the 30th century in an accelerated virtual reality environment capable of keeping up with the accelerated growth. The end result is that he has an overwhelming amount of energy, a low attention span, a tendency to give others sensory overload, and a general refusal to think a course of action through if the thinking lasts more than a few moments. When he was physically 16 years old, an experiment was conducted that would be able to stabilize Bart's connection to the Speed Force and slow his aging down to a more normal pace. The experiment worked, but with consequences. The influx of Speed Force energy was able to overload and cause his body to slow down, but it also caused him to enter the speed force, skipping off the bare surface of the realm and flinging him back in time to the 21st century.

Personality

Personality:

Bart Allen is a friendly, somewhat impulsive young teen, raised in a virtual environment he's come to the 21st century with anecdotal knowledge from 9 centuries in the future. One to leap before he looks thankfully his speed tends to allow him to make these mistakes without any real consequences, but his luck can't hold forever.

Abilities

Electrokinesis:
Being able to channel The Speed Force comes with a few extra goodies. One is being able to harness the lightning. While it cannot be called at the drop of a dime, but he can with the right circumstances. A fair amount of speed is needed just to make the lightning conductive enough then Bart only gets one chance to throw it. Also, the bolt is more of an area of effect instead of a straight bolt that can hit one target (or a row of them) The targets though must be relatively close, within line of sight for Bart to be able to target them with the lightning.

Enhanced Healing:
Like other speedsters, Bart has a rapidly accelerated healing factor. He's not able to heal injuries that a normal human couldn't heal from (like spinal injury) but he can heal from major wounds in a mere fraction of a fraction of the time it would take a normal human to heal even able to recover from more mortal wounds.

Enhanced Senses:
Due to the accelerated speed in which Impulse lives his life, Bart is able to perceive the world at many many times the normal speed. This can actually allow him to essentially cause the world around him to 'freeze' in place to take in everything that's happening.

Molecular Phasing:
Bart like many of the Flash family is able to vibrate his body in sync with the molecules of solid matter, this allows him to be able to pass through most objects as if he were a ghost. Extreme concentration is needed for this power, or he'll just bounce off the object in question, cause it to shatter, or even potentially explode. The thicker or more dense the material is, the harder it is for him to vibrate through. Brick and stone is easy, while Steel, harder, and Lead or gold, harder still.

Psionic Resistance:
Just due to the sheer speed that his mind constantly runs at, Bart has an inherent resistance to Telepathic manipulation. Unless the Telepath is /very/ powerful, or is capable at operating at Super Human Speeds, they tend to be unable to get a hold of Bart's mind, to manipulate it, and reading it just becomes a wash of high pitched screeching sounds, and color, like a movie sped up to play at 1000 times it's normal playback speed.

Speed Clones:
Impulse is somehow capable of creating energy duplicates of himself. Not temporal remnants, like some speedsters are capable of doing or speed mirages like what Zoom or The flash can do. These clones have a negative palette color from what Bart is wearing at the time, and share a telepathic link to the original.

Bart can make at most 5 clones each as strong, and as fast as the original, but lacking the fine control and finesse a lot of the more powerful speed-force abilities need. These clones can travel anywhere on the planet, but have a limited life span. 1 clone can last 5 minutes, and each clone divides the 5 minutes between their number. While each clone has Impulse's suite of powers, something is off about them as well, tools used to read The Speed Force will find them lacking in The Speed Force, but are actually manifestations of The Negative Speed-Force.

What might happen if a clone is killed in the course of a fight, is unknown but it's probably not good.

Speed Conduit:
Bartholomew Henry Allen The Second has inherited his families deep, personal connection to The Speed Force. While not nearly as fast as his grandfather, it does make cutting him off from The Speed Force incredibly hard.

With this connection, Bart will be able to manifest other abilities that speedsters in the Flash family have done for generations (from his perspective) Running on water, Running up walls and buildings, being able to create cyclones and vortexes to help something, or someone land safely on the ground.

OOC Note: No new powers will manifest withoout prior staff approval.

Speed Force Aura:
When using his super speed, an aura of Speed Force Energy envelops Bart. This Aura protects him, and anything (or anyone) he is touching at the same time. This also imparts superhuman durability, making him incredibly resistant to kinetic impacts.

Speed Force Empath:
Bart is capable os sensing when another Speed Force user is troubled, and can be drawn to the location of the speedster. This also can sometimes draw him to other locations where The Speed Force deems his presence is needed.

Speed Reading:
Bart can read a 500 page novel in the blink of an eye, and can recall what he read with perfect recall. This is great, but it has a down side. Anything he reads using the Speed Force is only going to stick with him for a short period of time. A book on particle physics might stay in his head for a week, while an entire 4 year course load on advanced sciences might stick with him for a day.

Speed Sharing:
Bart Allen is capable of sharing his super speed with others. They need to remain relatively close to him to be able to share in the super speed, and while sharing his own super speed is slowed down a small percentage that increases logarithmicly based on how many people he's sharing his speed with. If the subject he is sharing with has at one time had their own connection to The Speed Force, this drain is much smaller and less tiring than him giving a vanilla human Super Speed.

Super Metabolism:
Bart's metabolism is hyper accelerated, and while that means he has to eat more, and more often than a normal human, it also means things like Illness and poisons have less time to do their damage before his body expels the intruders.

Super Speed:
Bart is not anywhere close to as fast as his grandfather Barry Allen, incapable of reaching speeds that can allow him to travel through time, or touch the speed force he's still capable of reaching incredible speeds.

Super Stamina:

When running, or tapping into The Speed Force, Bart's stamina is nigh inexhaustible, capable of running and moving almost indefinitely.

Skills

Computers:
Growing up in the 30th century, Bart is use to much more advanced computers than what is currently available in the modern era. His advanced knowledge coupled with computer science skills gives him an edge in hacking 'modern day' technology, as well as potentially advanced alien, or terrestrial technologies.

Educated:
Bart Allen was raised in the 30th century, and is no slouch mentally, a genius in his own right, Bart has all the education and training a 16 year old of his time would have. This of course is way more advanced than what teens of the modern era are taught, and as such, he has a sound grounding in the sciences, electronics, and engineering far ahead of what is taught in High School now a days.

Future History:
Bart comes from the Future, or A future, and with it he knows a bit about what is his history, and this world's future. Not the day to day minutiae but some of the big events he'll know about.

Martial Combat:
Bart has basic hand to hand skills, nothing close to what Batman, or The Punisher can do. But he knows how to throw a punch and kick.

Video Games:

Bart grew up in an entirely in a virtual environment, one giant video game. That coupled with his speed Bart is extremely good at playing the games, possibly even to the point of being able to make spending money in modern times.

Resources

Gideon:
Given to Bart as a friend when growing up in the VR sim by his mother Meloni Allen (nee Thawne) Gideon is a very powerful, military grade Artificial intelligence, and the operating system of his NanoMesh (tm) Computer. A Thawne and Allen heirloom the AI has had many upgrades since it was first created, and since it was used by his ancestor Eobard. Bart's Gideon is either a copy of the original, or while being the original she has since been erased to her default settings, nothing of Professor Zoom's plans, and future actions are on her databases.

OOC Note: For him to have information about PC's ooc consent is needed.

Holo Cloth:
Bart wears an almost skin tight body suit made of Unstable molecules, with nanoscopic circuitry woven into the fabric. Via controls in his NanoMesh (tm) computer, Bart's clothing can assume the look, feel, and color of any other clothing. The nanites are capable of 'digesting' foreign matter to regenerate any lost cloth, or to add bulk to the clothing. Generally this is done by accessing a small reserve of super dense undifferentiated matter held in reserves throughout the clothing. The clothing can make itself look and feel like anything from a silk suit, to a dense highly friction resistant body armor that's capable of protecting Impulse from most small arms. (Pistols, rifles, light machine guns)

Nanomesh Computer:

Bonded to his nervous, system skeletal structure and swimming through the blood and other fluids of his body, is a complex mixture of nanoscopic circuitry mesh, and nanites called a NanoMesh (tm) Computer. This computer is what linked Bart to his virtual environment that he grew up inside of in the 30th century. Very powerful, the computer is able to connect to the internet and other machines, has it's own suit of software that is part of the Gideon AI, is capable of giving Bart augmented reality feeds and acts in the role of a personal computer/smartphone/omnitool device capable of communication, gaming, and internet browsing.

Weaknesses

From the Future:
Bart is from the future, the 30th century to be exact, and as such, modern day life is as quaint and alien to him, as someone from 2020 traveling back to the 1500's and trying to live their life. This can lead to problems, and things being 'lost in translation.'

High Metabolism:
Bart has a rapid metabolism. It means that medical drugs do him no favours, nor any other form of pain medication. Things that could be biologically bad, like poison, move through his system far faster than on a normal person, and could lead to high risk of sickness or even death. He's under the mistaken belief that his body is constantly burning energy, and in order to keep up with what his body "needs", he has to consume large quantities of food. The mind is a curious thing. What it believes, can become reality.

Impulsive:
Bart has yet to learn the adage 'Look before you leap' and as such, can at times jump to conclusions, or leap into action with little to no actual knowledge of what's happening.

Neg. Speed-Force:
Bart Allen, is both an Allen, and a Thawne. A descendant of Eobard Thawne Aka Professor Zoom, progenitor of The Negative speed-force. Generally when a Speed-Force user channels The Negative Speed-Force, bad things happen, the NSF acting as a cancer on the SF. This might be why Bart had his aging issues when first born, his trip through time causing something to happen that has stabilized through unknown means the equilibrium between the two forces and being why Impulse isn't as fast as The Flash or Professor Zoom.

Currently the two forces are in equilibrium, with The Speed-Force actually managing to keep The Negative Speed-Force in check. But if Bart dips too much into the NSF to power his clones, it could make him sick, or very very bad things could happen.

Secret Identity:
Bart's identity is a secret, the fact that he's from the future is part of that secret identity. If it were to be found out who, and what he is, all sorts of shadow governments, dark science labs, and villains would come out of the woodwork to try and capture him, or hurt his family.

Time Traveler:

Bart, how ever accidentally it may have happened, is a time traveler, and with it is a bit of a foreign object in the time stream. Organizations built to protect the timeline may try and kill, or capture Bart to try him for breaking the carefully watched laws of time travel.
