Quote
"Life endures. It adjusts and grows stronger. The weeds you try to kill become super-weeds, immune to your poison. And so you increase your toxins and poison the world in a cycle of madness. I call it forth, the power of the plants, even from the terminator seeds that should not grow. I am the guardian of the Green. I am Poison Ivy."

Description

Description:

Poison Ivy is a red-headed, green-skinned babe who does her best to look like you should leave her alone, but a lot of people seem to take that as a challenge to thaw her out. Her expression is terminally exasperated. She likes black leather, and green tights with a plant motif. She always wears high heels, even when they don't really work with her outfit, but everyone is allowed a bad fashion choice, right?

History

History:

Pamela Isley was born in Seattle, Washington, a metahuman with an affinity for plants and green skin that made her a freak no one wanted to be around. Her parents were wealthy and distantly cruel, disappointed in their daughter from the day she was born; she's pretty sure they only kept her because it would have been more socially mortifying to abandon the baby than to just pretend they love her, and put up with her until something could be done about her.

Pamela went to school, got good grades, made no friends and engaged in no extracurricular activities. She got doctorates in botany and toxicology, thinking she could use them to save the planet whose cries of pain she heard in her mind; but her bitterness overcame her, and she settled happily into the role of ecoterrorist, using her ever-increasing chlorokinetic powers to kill the people killing the planet. Or at least, the ones she blamed for killing the planet.

She got sent to Arkham a lot for that. It's a terrible place that does have one bright side: they actually do try to rehabilitate the inmates there. Ivy (who abandoned "Pamela Isley" as a name because she doesn't want that connection to humanity) has been trying to work through her phobia of humans, and it's been mostly working. Maybe it's even time for her to give up on wanting to kill them all.

She's not ready to stop being an ecoterrorist, though.

Personality

Personality:

Everything about Ivy's presentation advises you to take off and leave her alone. The perceptive will notice she's trying too hard to be cool and stand-offish; that it's all a mask hiding something deeper. She's cynical, bitter, and quick to anger.

Abilities

Chlorokinesis:
Poison Ivy has gained a semi mystical connection to the force that is called the Green, connecting her to all plant life and giving her the ability to manipulate and animate all forms of plant life in sometimes drastic ways. She can use root structures to burrow and support tunnels for her, she can cause drastic growth of plant life, at the extremes she could even tear down an entire skyscraper with enough plant. She can also create strange plant creatures, carnivorous plants, or to go from seed to giant tree in minutes. Or strange hybrids. She can also use vines and roots as snares or weapons, including several she has on her person. Most of all, any plant, anywhere near her, can be weaponized.

Genetics:
Ivy minored in genetics, and knows much about the subject of human and plant DNA. She has even experimented with combining plant and human DNA together, with the help of some human friends she was even able to create children her sporlings who are a blend of plant and human like her.

Plant Avatar:
Ivy can create an avatar version of herself from plant life. For all intents and purposes this is a duplicate of Ivy which has all of her abilities, but is grown from the plants that exist in a location. Whilst channeling a plant avatar, Ivy cannot use her own body, and she is completely immobile. She can create an Avatar up to a thousand feet away and can maintain it up to a mile away from herself. Any damage to her real body can cause the entire thing to collapse.

Talking To Plants:
Being connected intimately to the Green, the elemental plane of all plant life, Ivy can communicate with plants in her vicinity, up to half a mile away. She can learn about them, talk to them, reassure them. Close plants she can even channel her awareness through them, even using them as distant 'spies'.

But this has a downside. She can also hear their screams of pain as they are getting hurt. Feel them. It is one of the main ways to enrage Ivy - by hurting her precious 'friends'.

Toxikinesis:
As a result of the overdose she received in the lab accident, Ivy has developed the ability to make her very touch deadly due to an secretion of poisons. She can create the most potently powerful floral toxins, often administered as a kiss, and in a number of varieties from instantly fatal, paralyzing, to rejuvenating. Just touching her skin can expose someone to the toxins, rarely fatal with incidental contact. She can also exhale spores that are capable of doing many of what her direct-touch poisons are, but at a lower intensity.

Unique Physiology:

Like a plant, Ivy inhales carbon dioxide and exhales oxygen. She is immune to most toxins, viruses, and bacteria. She also uses photosynthesis as a source of energy.

Skills

Athletics:
Ivy is athletic in the way all superbeings are kinda required to be. She's a better runner, jumper, and climber than someone of her build and training should be. She's not an Olympian or even a state-level athlete, just as good as she needs to be to do the kind of thing a Bat-rogue should be able to do.

Botany:
A genius in the field of Botany, and a graduate with honors from the University of Washington. She had extensive experience with exotic plants, and the various structures and chemicals they produced, as well as the methods to grow and nurture these exotic flowers. Knowledge she puts to great (or ill) use as Poison Ivy.

Genetics:
Ivy minored in genetics, and knows much about the subject of human and plant DNA. She has even experimented with combining plant and human DNA together, but such research is in its early stages.

Hand-To-Hand Combat:
Poison Ivy has developed some basic skills at martial arts. She can defend herself from a nameless thug, but would probably lose against any character who has a name or dramatic presence in a scene.

Toxicology:

Within the field of Botany, Pamela specialized in Toxicology, the practical applications she applied these skills to was the production of perfumes, medicines, and make-up. She has since expanded on this, with the aid of her new abilities to cultivating strange hybrid plants with vicious thorns, and a variety of poisonous plant based traps. Recently, she is using these skills for their initial purposes of creating perfumes and medicines once more.

Resources

Isley Greenhouse:
After several defeats at the hands of the Batman, Ivy was tired of fighting. Tired of losing. Tired of breaking out of Arkham. So - she is trying something new. Going legitimate. She commandeered an abandoned greenhouse, restored it. Created a garden around it. Fortified it. And... just wants to be left alone. She is making an Internet company to sell healing draughts and love potions. And... to all appearances she is now being a perfectly legitimate businesswoman.

Pheromones:
Ivy can create plant-based pheromones in her lab, given time and resources. These pheromones can be used to provoke a specific emotional response in people depending on what she brewed them for, but they are explicitly NOT mind control: just like someone who's stoned has a choice not to go eat their weight in Cheetos, someone who's been turned on has a choice to not try to bed-hop with her. These pheromones only affect PCs with their player's explicit consent.

The Green:

Poison Ivy has a connection with The Green; the collective consciousness of all plants on the planet. She can speak with and understand all plants, and gains an immediate understanding of their preferences--inasmuch as your average plant has any such thing. No force can compel her to turn against her precious children. She even can have an audience with the Parliament of Trees, the guiding force of the Green.

Weaknesses

"seductive":
Ivy can't make anyone do anything. That's an urban myth some goons used to get out of trouble for helping her with a crime, and it stuck: everyone's convinced she's this succubus who deserves to be blamed for every crappy thing you do in her presence because something something pheromones. It doesn't help her case that she does sometimes use her pheromones to make people more pliable or even to seduce them, because she's secretly very lonely and does want connections with people but is so afraid of being hurt she uses chemistry as a way to try to control the fear of rejection. It's more than a little self-destructive.

Appearance:
Poison Ivy is green. She doesn't blend in unless she has goofy sci-fi gadgets like a holographic appearance-generator to make her look human.

Darkness:
Her plant-like nature has changed her physiology to a degree that she now requires sunlight to exist, and if she were to be deprived of solar energy for an extended period she would suffer from the effects of malnutrition, and then wither and die.

Herbicide:
Ivy's plant-like nature is vulnerable to herbicides. Consumer-grade herbicides can cause pain and irritation - the concentrated stuff could do massive damage to her system.

Plant Rage:

The screams of hurt plants gnaw at Ivy's mind and soul through the Green. Sufficient anguish transmitted to her can cause her to suffer irrational rage that could easily be mistaken as a mental disorder. To her, it's the equivalent of responding like a mama bear when her cub's hurt - or a mother to a crying baby. But it seems irrational to others.
